D.Gray-man

D.Gray-man

Introduction

Losing a loved one is so painful that one may sometimes wish to be able to resurrect them—a weakness that the enigmatic Millennium Earl exploits. To make his mechanical weapons known as "Akuma," he uses the souls of the dead that are called back. Once a soul is placed in an Akuma, it is trapped forever, and the only way to save them is to exorcise them from their vessel using the Anti-Akuma weapon, "Innocence." After spending three years as the disciple of General Cross, Allen Walker is sent to the Black Order—an organization comprised of those willing to fight Akuma and the Millennium Earl—to become an official Exorcist. With an arm as his Innocence and a cursed eye that can see the suffering souls within an Akuma, it's up to Allen and his fellow Exorcists to stop the Millennium Earl's ultimate plot: one that can lead to the destruction of the world. This is honestly a masterpiece. I started it at the end of last year and only finished it today (don’t judge me, I didn’t have time, leave me alone 😄). And the funny thing is, every time I sat down to watch those 50‑plus episodes, I didn’t always feel like watching it… but once I pressed play, I was completely absorbed again. It’s one of those anime you can find floating around everywhere, yet somehow no one really talks about it. And honestly? I think that’s kind of great. It feels like a hidden gem, something you discover on your own and then treasure even more because it wasn’t overhyped or spoiled by the internet. The world, the atmosphere, the demons (Akuma), the Exorcists, the mystery behind Allen… everything is so rich and intense. If you enjoy action‑packed anime with darker theme…

D.Gray-man - an anime that should have been better. Even though I usually don’t watch long anime, this was my first one with around 100 episodes, and I was pleasantly surprised. The episodes don’t feel artificially stretched, and the slower pacing does a great job developing the characters and the world’s lore. Even the fillers aren’t bad; they’re a pleasant, if somewhat unnecessary, addition to the overall story. The characters are… interesting. The main protagonist, Allen Walker, actually became one of my favorite characters ever. The rest of the cast is diverse and mostly well-written, though I can’t say I’m fond of all of them (I’m looking at you, Kanda). There’s nothing to complain about when it comes to the art style, animation, or soundtrack, and the openings are fantastic - same…

This anime was literally impossible to watch, it had me for the first 5 episodes, even without watching i loved the aesthetics and that early 2000s feels, but when i did started watching the show i felt that most of the episodes were there to be there, no progression plot wise just episodic with unnecessary comedic scenes and typical “baka” moments that made me want to yeet myself while watching it, the characters i may say some were interesting others extremely uninteresting, almost non of them caught my attention and their backstory were rather cliche or also pretty boring. The akumas are ugly looking all are the same, not even an ugly but interesting design, just plain “what is that” The openings are amazing, the animation decent. I would have loved this anime if i watched it back when…

Among all slow started shounen D Gray man beats them all. It takes a good 40-50 episodes before it really kicks of. It starts good enough but theres a huge gap with fillers snd more episodic adventure stuff in there. But once you get past thatit does get really good. So patience. Of if you like skip fillers. But one should definetly give it a chance until it picks up. At that point plot gets interesting. The background of characters. Good fights. The darker artstyle. Music is good. Unfortunely it kinda ends with cliffhanger and the follow up is not as good. Hopefully they will complete the anime story someday. If not ill read the manga but really whats here, especially from around episode 40-50 and onwards is great and was worth the wait.

Oh my god, if it wasn't for this being part of my childhood, I wouldn't have bothered finishing it, I think I would've legit dropped it. The first 5-10 episodes or so were hype, I really like the vibe and what it's trying to tell and show us, but oh my god, the following episodes after that up until episode 50ish were some endless rollercoaster filler ride. I was watching, right? and then thought to myself "When will the story start picking up?" because every episode is just the same formula, they go to a new place, new side characters get introduced and ooohhh suddenly there's akuma in this town and then end of the episode. Soooo BORING! although every now and then, new exorcists get introduced, but still... you didn't need to drag the shit out of this because it got repetitive over time…

I rate it much higher because D.gray-man is one of the most underrated series of all time and definitely deserved the watched. If you have watched demon slayer or AOT, this has the same vibes with it. Exorcist verses demons. Great character building and even the world building is very good. Characters are memorable since it's not that many and has an important role to play in the story. Allen Walker as a character is cool and funny but has an unending obsession to the promise he made with Mana. A character that was portrayed to be his role father because Allen is an orphan that ended in a tragic way. But Allen remembers and continues to live his life by moving forward despite the difficulty and challenges he has to face. Allen is somehow a protag that is in search of a meaning and also an…

Note: This will a review of the series in its entirety. Overview: Gothic horror elements notwithstanding, "D.Gray-man" is a fairly derivative shounen anime, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Given that it borrows elements from the likes of "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "Bleach" among others, it's very clear that it's good friends with "if you're going to steal, steal from the best", especially since it puts its own twist on these elements and explores them in ways that went untouched in other shows. As a result, "D.Gray-man" proves to be hugely interesting and enjoyable throughout its over 100-episode run, which is no small feat, even if it never quite matches the high bar of those it borrows from. Story (9/10): Set in an alternate version of the late 19th century, "D.Gray-man" revolve…

this is honestly my favorite anime/manga possibly of all time. i've been in love with this show since i was 10 years old, and even now as im 19, it still doesn't get old. i'm so in love with all the characters, especially their outstanding development that we see through the original series, hallow, and the manga. each person has their own backstory and trauma that we get to see them fight through and come to terms with, even if they don't get over their trauma fully (which is very realistic). allen is not the typical shounen protagonist, and that's what makes him stand out the most in my opinion. he's melancholy at times and takes a lot of pride in his beliefs and ideologies. as the series goes on, his personality shifts a lot from someone who puts on a type of polite mold to someone wh…

Much like Inuyasha its a good series buried underneath a lot of filler, Its a series that could easily be cut in half. A enjoyable series that moves slow because of the filler. when the stories moving forward its pretty interesting. Sadly this is still being dragged out. From what I know the creator of the series is suffering from some illness sadly which is delaying the series from completion Art style is very good with some good animation. Some interesting characters , decent music. I dont know if it will ever get finished so its hard to really recommend at this time since it may never get finished. Whats there is pretty good but like i said you will have to plow through a lot of filler though the latest season seems to be cutting the filler and moving faster with a tighter story line.

When I was a young weeb I thought he knew a lot about Japanese anime because I watched Naruto. But that was actually pretty much it. Sure I'd seen episodes of Inuyasha, Eureka Seven, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun and FMA, but Naruto was pretty much the only show I had actually followed from the beginning and kept up with every episode, which I think I mentioned in my Naruto review. But times were changing and TV shows weren't just something you had to watch on TV. My brother was quite the pirate back in the days when not a lot of people knew anything about that, and he had started compiling a hard drive full of TV shows that we were then able to play on our TV off of our Wii using homebrew hacks. Looking back at it now it was a pretty ghetto setup, but it was the first time I encountered D.Gr…

Hey, you! Are you looking for a dark fantasy show that also happens to be an amazing shounen? And has a cast filled with complex and incredibly interesting characters? Then it is your lucky day today because D.Gray-man fits this description perfectly! This anime introduces us to an alternative 19th century and follows the journey of Allen Walker, a young exorcist, who joins an organization called Black Order to fight alongside other exorcists. The exorcists aren’t ordinary people, therefore they are the ones who can use Innocence, an ancient essence to battle the Millennium Earl and his creations called Akuma who are ready to do anything to destroy humanity. Although the plot might sound very generic, let me assure you that the title gets dark really quick since it raises such heavy topic…

To start off, I was fairly young when I watched this, about 13 or so. But, I know that I can still watch this confidently and know that I will enjoy it just the same, if not more, than back then. With that aside, D.Gray-man is certainly an anime that I look back on from time to time, reminiscing certain scenes and the storyline all together. The plot was very well done with an adequate number of lovable characters. With there being around 103 episodes, it can be hard to really keep the show going without stale or redundant parts blotting the plot. And yet, they did an excellent job keeping it fresh and exciting. Even being slightly older, the action scenes were done in such a smooth and satisfying manner. This is an anime where it truly shows that just because you're doing the right thing,…

This anime was so much fun to watch!! I love all the characters, especially Allen! Every time he gets a screen time I get excited! The story was also pretty interesting too! All the characters had flaws, but also made up for that with their awesome powers, design, and story! One of the issues I had was with the fillers, pacing, and the back and forth some part of the development had. The first few episodes and the last few episodes were quite nice to watch, but going through some of the episodes were sometimes hard to watch. Allen was (no offense) very weak and dumb going through the first 12 episodes and seeing him faint or fall constantly gave me second hand embarrassment. Like he has a big arm and evolved abit but yet he still acts like a literal beansprout. Every other characters such…

Overall a Good anime but it really will challenge your patience at the middle of the season. It really starts well in the start slowly introducing and buliding the characters however episode 20-40 really tests your patience. That entire Lulu bell thing killed the mood of the anime it almost transformed it in a goofy comedy which was so far from it. My advice here is to survive the 20-40 episodes because later It really brings what D.gray man truely is. Great action, Super Character development and acceptable action sequences. In the 103 episodes the story really lacks as it doesn't have enough materials but the characters really keep you interested the anime. Allen walker as MC is a treat and you really want to root for him till the end. He has some great scenes in the anime I don't want…

* Perhaps there are spoilers * D Gray Man has a premise that was very engaging and a little creepy that kept me watching it. The manga is not completed and may never be completed. For the anime, the same can be said. Allen Walker is a youthful exorcist who joins a squad of other exorcists to halt the destruction of the globe by the Millennium Earl. So much is promised by the show. It provides us with mysteries to solve, struggles with elevated stakes and promises us a great end. It's just kind of ends, unfortunately, and leaves the spectators with nothing. You can read the manga, but it will drag on and add more layers that won't be revealed as well. This show contains some filler episodes. One of the episodes of the filler is decent and the remainder is meh. I'd prefer to call them "Unf…

This is probably the most underrated show of all time. It's very unique when compared to other shounen anime, too. You will notice how great, unique and advanced the story is as you progress. At the same time, it succeeds to keep the storyline simple and clean; Innocence and exorcists good, Akuma and Millenium Earl bad, The Heart big important, whoever finds The Heart achieves victory royale. After ridicule events that may occur in this absurd story, there're no plot holes formed and loose ends are ALWAYS tied up. In addition, there're no forced power-ups or friendship power assemblies to do the impossible. In fact, there have been many times where I thought to myself "crap, there's no way these guys make it out". When Allen hits the ground, he hits it HARD. Combined with his selflessness…

I have to say D.Gray man is long, but it's worth watching each second of it, as every second of the animation is outstanding thanking the animators/studio for spending there time making D. Gray man come alive while the manga is still outstanding and magnificent! Let's first start off that D. Gray Man has a lot of spectacular moments both heartwarming and tear jerking, as you will start to get anxious of what will happen in the next episode. Where the art work and character personality's is what makes the anime wonderful to watch, as you get to understand each character slowly and begin to love them, while the art makes the scenery's beautiful and the animation outstanding. Some may find it's slow at first because it's the start of the anime so you shouldn't expect it to go straight forwa…

Oh wow, they really love beating the characters in this anime into a pulp, don't they. If you're looking for mainstream things where the characters level up by training and stuffs and starts to become stronger like in Naruto or Bleach, this anime won't live up to your expectation. You'll just be irritated on why the enemies are too strong for them. I was expecting something similar to that when I started watching D.gray-man, as it is a popular anime but I guess I was off the mark. If anything, D.gray-man focuses more on developing its story rather than its fight. However, it wasn't really executed well imo and did gave me a let down. The fights were..horrid. They will fight without any improvement and keep getting beaten up by the enemies. Even when they get a power up, the enemies that…

D. Gray-man or as the title is, in my opinion, is supposed to be interrupted ‘The Gray.man’. As the title implies, the show is about a man who is both black and white – a man and a monster – and we and the main character are shown both sides of the battle between the two, only to find ourselves as an observer to unreasonable chaos. But what do I think of the show? It is decent, and present nothing new, that has not been seen. It’s a show about how the enemy is only an enemy when viewed from the foe point of view, and when presented with the enemies reasoning to the violence and their ideals, you see that the two sides fight an endless battle about a pointless matter, that could easily be resolved. But where the show shines are in the action and characterization. All the different char…
