" Blasting the tempest"
I am genuinely impressed by the anime whether you talk about pacing, art style, character designs, effects , cgi etc , it's perfect from tip to toe . Whenever you felt like pacing getting slow , the change of sudden moments and plot twists made anime very intriguing and serious in specific tones like references of hamlet and legendary authors from past e.g shakespeare etc .
Writing of show is very deep which taken inspirations from urban legends. Characters are well written, they evolve on certain moments by showing their hidden maturity which made them to make choices on critical situations. The whole story revolved around a mysterious girl named aika fuwa .
The pace throughout the series is balanced with ease of action. The sequences are fantastic, mainly sho…

This show could have been better in many ways if the author choose the right plot. It also would have been better if the last 16 episodes were to be cut to only 4. Combine them with the first 8, you'll get 12 episodes, which would have been 10x better.
It started pretty well on the first 8 episodes, like everyone's typical kind of drama action. The world is somehow changing into chaos, and the MC is trying to save the world, that kind of stuff. And then, it somehow started become like Ace attorney kind of show where the MCs had a fight with each other, and the one MC was trying to convince the other to join the right side. After that, it became even more boring as the later episodes was just about planning to destroy the tree called "Tree of Genesis".
If it were to be breakdown, the fir…

This anime has really become my guilty pleasure, because Blast of Tempest is insanely memorable and fun to watch. Especially the dynamic between Yoshino and Mahiro, and eventually Hakaze. The animation and the fights are, for the time it was released, pretty amazing. Magic also works in a rather interesting fashion; weapons, like pistols and rifles, are consumed and then used as ammunition for the Magicians of Genesis. Also, the fact that the plot is loosely based on The Tempest by William Shakespeare makes some scenes shine poetically. No real review just me yapping after watching this for the 5th time.

-"O Cursed Spite."
What a beautiful anime to have been born to witness. I've seen the whole show twice over and am engrossed in the film's creative genius. As far as anime go, this one has quite the most unique story I've seen in a very long time. The character relationships are geniune, they feel like real live characters, the voice acting is so special and powerful. When I think of brotherhood I will now think of the bond that Mahiro and Yoshino have.
For this anime it feels like its separated into two parts, the first being a on the road type of vibe, the characters are traveling and going around Japan. It's beautifully done how it builds the characters personalities as well as flashbacks to Aika's story. The first episode can be kind of confusing but it all makes sense in the end as we…

Zetsuen no Tempest is an ambitious Shakespearean psychological suspense drama that tackles mysteries and romance in a contemporary world with fantasy themes, and isn't even afraid to drop in whole loads of comedy for good measure. It swaps focus between its various genres and themes on the fly, but does so beautifully.
Animation / Art / General Visuals - 9/10
-----------------------------------------------
The show brings top notch visuals, with beautiful scenery, and well animated action scenes and character expressions. Because the anime touches on so many different genres, and has such a high focus on psychological themes with its characters, the animation quality is needed to give those themes enough weight. You can really see and feel the emotions the characters go through in their…

After I watched the show my life was changed! I highly recommend it, as the characters are all fun and interesting (especially Aika) and the storyline is pretty interesting. Something about the show I really enjoyed was the awesome music, especially at the epic scenes. Also the plot twist at the end I thought was crazy and super cool. Highly recommend! Personally though, the beginning was a little slow for me, so as long as you stick it out and finish the season you'll hopefully like it :)
The art style is also pretty cool and dramatic, and the story was pretty unique.

Really disappointing ending. Finishing this show will leave you with a feeling of 'That's it?'.
All this tension and build up over so many episodes just to be shrugged off and thrown in the trash in the last few episodes. A total shift in genre and story that feels so out of place and unwanted.
I leave a 6 for the interesting moments it had. But like many works of art, the ending falls flat and leaves a feeling of longing, an expectation for something much better, something to fill the missing gap that the show leaves.
A dozen of episodes of teasing for big things and when they are revealed, the 'twists' and climax end up leaving you speechless and shocked, not out of awe, but at how simple, nonsensical, and uninteresting they are.
Somewhere along the story the author clearly lost mot…

Wonder why you see no negative reviews? Because this anime is a Masterpiece. 10/10
What would you do if someone you love deeply suddenly dies and there's no answers to their death? Would you seek revenge? Or would you let it sink in? Maybe save the world in the meantime. Zetsuen no Tempest or Blast of Tempest is following the story of Yoshino Takigawa and Fuwa Mahiro who fill each other perfectly. The anime focuses on the 2 trees of life - the Tree of Genesis and the Tree of Exodus. The Tree of Genesis powers up a clan with magic, but it expects something in return. Something that proves humans evolution. Both Trees are about to be awaken and have a battle, but which Tree should people side with? Who's wrong and who's right? Or more like - what is wrong and what is right?
The story of t…

This feels like a tricky one to talk about, because my feelings on it drastically change depending on which part of 'Blast of Tempest' we're talking about. In fact, the two halves of this show feel like the beginning and ending of two similar but ultimately different shows entirely.
The first half, in all honesty, is pretty fantastic. It's got an interesting tone, a little melodramatic, with solid worldbuilding, and a really solid premise. It's something of a road trip story, with three different but complimentary protagonists, a solid antagonist, and a great mood that lets itself have levity but is also pretty dark and interesting. It all leads up to a final confrontation, at the midpoint, that perhaps takes an episode longer than it needs to be (it takes up the best part of six episodes…

This anime wasn't really to my tastes. The animation was very nice, but that was really the only thing that I enjoyed out of it. I honestly should have probably dropped it after the first couple episodes, but I kept at it since it was recommended to me, and I'm a bit of a completionist.
I found the story quite boring. There were four episodes in the middle where nothing much really happened and it was really a drag for me. The story also undergoes a noticeable change at the midway point, where it felt like I was watching a high school romance or something, and that sort of thing just isn't for me.
I thought the constant quoting of Shakespeare was a bit campy. I didn't care for it. To be honest, I just really wasn't feeling it. I think this anime is well-made, I just don't think it was fo…

Most likely this anime will stuck with me for a long time. It made me think, it made me mourn, it made me feel. It is rare when I really wish for a miracle to happen, yet there are no miracles in our logical world, where the cause and effect are absolute.
A lot of us stuck in the past, mourning over what cannot be changed. Often you hear that "You should move forward". However there is a catch, which nobody talks about. Even if you move forward and you arrive to your destination, you will realize that you are still entrapped, but instead of your past, now you are shackled by the present. You try everything to preserve that present what is so dear to you. While you desperately trying to catch the shards as it slowly falls apart in front of your eyes. Knowing that everything is in vain and…

"𝕱𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖘 𝖆𝖚𝖙𝖊𝖒 𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖖𝖚𝖎𝖘 𝖗𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓𝖊 𝖕𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖈𝖎𝖕𝖎𝖎" - If there's a beginning, then logically, there's an ending. (Correct me if I'm wrong. My Latin is rusted as a mummy.)
The Apocalypse is one of my favorite books from the Holy Bible. There's something so enticing and exciting about the world ending. It raises many questions such as: What am I going to do? How much time do I have left? And the people whom I love, what about them? And many, many others.
Zetsuen no Tempest (or Blast of Tempest/the Civilization Blaster if you prefer) is about the world ending, vengeance, and much other stuff that I'm not afraid to say that I adore. Its premise reminded me of Kara no Kyoukai: the Garden of Sinners (which is just as good as this series) but a bit more perplexing.
Zetsuen…

I saw 7 episodes of this anime back when it aired in 2012. After which I dosed off and dropped it for a couple of days. A guy I knew who was also following this anime sort of spoiled a major story element involving Aika which resulted in me dropping it entirely. Recently I decided to rewatch the whole thing from start.
This anime starts relatively strong and stays that way for the first half. The pacing is slow which works fine. The characters have some depth, music is great, art is great, action (although somewhat lacking) is great.
Now for the bad stuff:
- The anime pukes it's guts out after the first half.
- They introduce new irrelevant characters out of nowhere to act as a tool for the ending to make sense.
- The existing characters rewrite their personality and start behaving in w…

The first half is a top notch creative mashup of two Shakespearian plays with solid original concepts mixed in to keep it fresh. The Tempest and Hamlet are often quoted by the characters, and most often by the central trio of oddly stoic and capable high school students - Fuwa Aika, Fuwa Mahiro, and Takigawa Yoshino. However, Fuwa Aika... was murdered!
Frankly spellbinding out of the gate, the intrigue layered into the plot and its ability to work in Shakespeare as a hook rather than cheeseball feels is the greatest strength of Zetsuen no Temptest. There is a very clear departure from this sensation of quality somwhere in the middle, but enough reasonably interesting things occur from that point on to accept the lesser half of the show and somewhat lackluster ending. At the very least, th…

"Forty thousand brothers could not, with all their quantity of love, make up my sum."
-Shakespeare, Hamlet
-(Yoshino from Zetsuen no Tempest)
Actually, it has been a few months since I watched Zetsuen no Tempest. But after setting up a MAL account, I wanted to write a review for this anime (and this is going to be my first review). Because it is one of my favourite anime and it definitely deserves more recognition.
Note: I am not a native English speaker so, sorry for the mistakes.
Story
Finding the reason of Aika's death, secret love between Yoshino and Aika, Mahiro and Yoshino's friendship... When I write like this it can seen like a slice of life serie. But it is not. There are magic and more. But I think this "magic" is different from other "magical" animes. All events were so exc…

Blast of Tempest is one of my favourite T.V. shows, I don't think it's perfect or even the best show ever made but it resonates with me in a unique way. It may not sound unique by its description with magic and saving the world, but all that just sets the stage for the characters who really are the focal point of the show. The action scenes don't hold a candle to anything in action focused shows, but it's not trying to specifically be an action show, only sprinkling in some to mix things up now and then. I really admire how after the halfway point, it takes a completely different direction, which adds variety and keeps things from getting stale, but I can't guarantee you will like the second half as much as the first due to the drastic change between them. Episodes 8 - 12 all together make…

Zetsuen no Temptest is a show that came out in the same season as a superstar anime --- Psycho-Pass, to be exact. The unfortunate fate for shows that coincide with a superstar title is... they get a lot less attention than they deserve. This show is really a case of that.
At a glance, the show has above average character designs and backgrounds. While the action scenes are not particularly impressive, they don't suck. The sound is also impressively matched to the drama on the screen. The only downside is that the first ending theme does not really match the tone of the first half and the second opening theme is way too cheerful (melody) for the overall tone of the show. However, these are minor problems as viewers can easily just skip the opening or ending.

It's my first time writing a review an anime so please don't hold it against me. I just wanna say that the anime is really great, considering it was produced in 2013. The timing of quoting Shakespeare in each episode is really good. They handled the flashback so well and that's mainly one of the reasons why I got hooked in the story. The story though, well if I watched this early on, it would have been better(so that i can't compare it to others). It has some holes in the story because there's a lot of supporting characters that could have made bigger impact, but they didn't get enough spotlight even though it has 24 episodes. At first I thought that the author would give in to the watchers' indirect request to turn tides and make the main characters special(like mages), but what was speci…

This is the only anime on which I’m writing a review because I just think that this anime is so underrated and deserves sooo much more recognition.
In my review I’m going to talk about the story, characters and forte.
STORY: the story is actually pretty simple and it takes references from Shakespeare’s the tempest and hamlet in its speeches whilst the story is a lot like the tempest with some personal modifications from the author
CHARACTERS: the characters are all nice and likeable with good designs but what makes this show one of my favourites is the mc. The mc in the anime is the perfect embodiment of a mc I want in any anime(though I think that it’s my personal opinion). I still think anyone would take a liking to the mc. All the characters have quite a bit of depth.
FORTE: the…
