Introduction

Every morning, incoming first-year Taiki Inomata hurries to his high school gym in order to further refine his badminton skills. However, his true motivation stems from sharing the otherwise empty gym with second-year Chinatsu Kano, Taiki's crush and the star player of the girls' basketball team. Although Chinatsu seems unapproachable, Taiki gradually finds opportunities to get to know her little by little. Unbeknownst to Taiki, his tireless work ethic and admiration motivate Chinatsu to work harder and strive to achieve her greatest ambitions. When her family must suddenly move overseas for work, Chinatsu decides to remain in Japan and shoot for victory at the national level. With nowhere to stay, she is taken in by Taiki's mother, who is longtime friends with Chinatsu's own. Overwhelmed with the new reality of living alongside the girl he loves, Taiki resolves to join Chinatsu at the national level in his own sport—and grow closer to her in the process. Still, despite being good enough to catch his coach's eye, Taiki must fight an uphill battle to qualify for a spot on the starting team. Cheered on by both Chinatsu and gymnast Hina Chouno, his childhood friend, Taiki aims to make a name for himself among his powerful upperclassmen. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I really enjoyed this series for what they have done with the art and portrayal of the dynamics of the characters. The writing toys with repetitive, yet simple and relatable small details in the flow of how the characters' emotions and feelings evolve over the episodes. The story isn't complex and convoluted, but its the small things that builds up the vision I have for the characters. Tiny details become reminiscence of the things that happened, the what-if that runs in our minds, the doubts and imaginations that plays over and over again when we were teens. Such tidbits amplifies the empathy and understanding of how the character acts and towards the end of the season, it pays off beautifully and emotionally.

This was a comment from the previous season, about a year and a half ago: "Since November 2024, I've been watching the anime. I was excited for every Friday, and on Friday, the 21st of Ramadan 2025/1447, I ask God to grant us success in this life and the hereafter. Amen. ❤️ Secondly, thank you to the translator, Arthur, for his wonderful translation and the journey that lasted about six and a half months. Thirdly, information about the manga: The work is still ongoing, with 188 chapters. Anyone who wants to start after the anime should start from chapter 80 or 81, as far as I remember. I want to say it was a wonderful work and deserves a 9/10. 💙🟦 The end of the season... Oh, I hope there will be another season, but it will most likely be in two years, in 2027 or 2028." And today I'm surp…

A wonderfully solid romance anime with complex character dynamics that truly strike a chord with the audience. What makes Blue Box stand out is its solid character growth from the very first episode to the last. it isn't just focused on romantic progress, but also on personal ambitions and maturity through sports. Even though the romance progresses quite slowly, I feel like that's completely natural for this kind of story. The love polygon is executed brilliantly and hits surprisingly hard. It doesn't rely on cheap drama instead, it paints such genuine, relatable feelings that leave us as viewers completely torn on who to root for. A beautifully grounded coming-of-age story that balances love, effort, and heartbreak seamlessly

Damn even though the story feels pretty similar to others the production on this anime and the animation is absolutely nuts - it’s literally unfair for a romance anime to have this caliber of animation when many big IPs don’t even get that type of care and passion put into it - but still I throughly enjoyed this anime - this was the first anime I had watched that included a love triangle and it sucked so bad to see the outcome because I just knew that one person would end up heartbroken but the story was really gripping tbh and it felt as if the 25 episodes flew by - in the end I was actually pleased with the choice that was made and the choice that I preferred - overall a really good and solid season 1 of which I hope there’s more to come

Look, this one just looks like it is something that is really worth watching, but if you ask me, then it is good only for two things: style and the sports part of it. The season is 25 episodes long, and still, it is not really close to the resolution of the main love line, since they are making the second season. The anime is trying to be about romance really hard, but how can you be about love when all love is cringe in the first part, and in the second, it brings tears, and those arent of joy. Also, characters are like fine, I guess, BUT there is one that pisses me off the most, which is the male mc, because he doesnt have freacking balls. I can understand it for the first 12 episodes or so; it is the first love after all. However, when it lasts for 25 episodes, it just starts to cor…

The romance feels truly unfair. Even after confessing your love, you still choose to stay, only to eventually realize that you actually had a chance all along. Seeing that unfold honestly made me quite sad while watching it. I really love the way romance is portrayed here. It can be quite heartbreaking at times, yet it also makes me genuinely excited to see every bit of progress in their relationship. On the other hand, the sports aspect of the anime delivers a great message: we shouldn't let ourselves fall into despair every time we experience a defeat. Instead, the characters show us the importance of moving forward, continuing to train, and working toward their goals.

The show starts off with a very good verst episode. All the main characters are very likable and good characters. The show looks nice and the character are drawn very good. They are pleasant to look at and are backed by good writing and good dialogues. The animation is very good and that includes the sports and the subtle facial expressions of the characters. Some of the closeup of the face are very good. The characters are emotionally intelligent and perceptive. This is a sports anime and there is good sportsmanship. Romance and sports fans will appreciate this anime. In particular badminton and basketball fans. I highly recommend it. I personally liked this more than Haikyuu and Blue Lock.

I honestly never thought my first anime review would be about Blue Box. I've watched a lot of anime over the years, but this is one of the first times I actually felt the need to sit down and talk about how I feel about a series. The first 4-5 episodes really pulled me in. The atmosphere was great, the mix between romance and sports felt refreshing at first, and overall it just had this calm and enjoyable vibe that made me want to keep watching. Early on, I genuinely thought this could become one of my favorite romance anime. But the more I watched, the more I started feeling like Blue Box doesn't really do anything new with its ideas. One of the biggest disappointments for me was the sports aspect. At the beginning, I liked how important sports seemed to be for the characters, but later…

I was late with this one... Well, not just this, though. Witch Watch and some others, I stopped watching because I wanted to binge-watch instead. I got sidetracked because there are lots of new anime and old ones that I'm interested in watching. I got around to watching this, though. I'm glad I binged it instead of watching it weekly. I remember reading the manga, and I thought, "There is no way I'll watch this weekly." I'm happy to say, I enjoy it so much. ... even when we get a fricking cliffhanger ending. Anyway, on to the review. How did I find this? I read it. I know the story already, and I want to see how they handle the animation, especially because it was Telecom Animation. Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) I heard the romance in this series was great, and they weren't…

I finished all 25 episodes of Blue Box in just 2 days. Honestly, that alone says everything. Nowadays I rarely binge anime this fast anymore because after watching so many series, most shows start feeling predictable after 4 or 5 episodes. But Blue Box had that rare quality where every episode quietly pulls you into the next one without you even realizing it. I would watch just one more episode and suddenly it was 3 AM. What makes this anime special to me is not flashy twists or overdramatic romance. It is how unbelievably human everything feels. A lot of romance anime exaggerate emotions too much. Characters scream, misunderstandings become ridiculous, or relationships move unrealistically fast. But Blue Box does the exact opposite. It takes things slow. Awkward conversations feel awkw…

✨ Review – Ao no Hako ✨ Alright, let’s get into it. First of all, I see a lot of people evaluating Ao no Hako based on the manga — “oh, because in the manga this is explained”, “in the manga the female lead is more developed”… Not here. I’m judging the anime for what it set out to do and what it has shown so far, ignoring future continuation — even though it’s obvious there will be one. 📊 Scores 💖 Romance: 8/10 (If it were just about Hina, it would be 10/10) 😂 Comedy: 8/10 Hina Chono carries this on her back… do I have a favorite? I think that’s pretty obvious. 🎧 Soundtrack: 8/10 Good, well placed, and fits the anime’s tone. 🎬 Animation: 9/10 Way above average for a romance anime. 📖 Story: 7/10 Nothing groundbreaking: a school romance with some sports elements. 🧠 Characters: 10/…

Solid 8/10 When it was airing I saw some of its promotional stuff and it was the characters playing basketball and badminton. I thought it would be in and out sports anime with main male and female characters being the best friends encouraging each other to be better and all eventually leading them to developing romantic feelings for each other. While the romance angle is there but not quite like what I had imagined. Also not an anime with in and out sports stuff. It’s actually a story of high school. While the sports is there and it is taken seriously and showed at a certain extent but it is more of 30-40% sports and 60–70% school life. I actually quite liked it. It makes you laugh and actually has a good story but at times you may feel it is dragged a bit too much (you will understa…

The general tagline I can give this is that it's "A love triangle done as well as it possibly can be done". Blue Box takes a worn out anime trope and actually lands the execution. While this anime does absolutely nothing unique, it still manages to feel fresh and enjoyable by having a strong main and supporting cast. Taiki does start out a bit bland and uninteresting as a main character, he's your typical slice of life anime protag with disheveled black hair and bad people skills when it comes to girls, you have seen it a thousand times and you'll see him a thousand more times but as the show progresses, he does become a bit more interesting in how he navigates difficult social situations. Chinatsu and Hina are both great potential love interests because they are very different people whil…

Blue Box is the second high-profile sports series of the season whose manga I’m already a huge fan of, though I can certainly say I’m much less conflicted about my love for this one than Medalist. Its deft blending of the sports and romance genres, along with a keen eye for connecting the thematic similarities between the two, gives us an incredibly moving story about high schoolers trying to balance their respective sports careers with their budding romantic feelings. The love triangle that forms amongst Taiki, Chinatsu, and Hina is just dramatic enough to be wildly captivating, building off the central themes of effort and mutual support to show why certain characters feel the way they do, often stubbornly so. It also remembers to show some love to its sports side as well, with the diffe…

Blue Box is a beautifully produced anime with expressive character designs, strong animation, and an emotional atmosphere that pulls you in from the very first episodes. The pacing is calm and immersive, and the story does a great job making you feel the characters’ emotions rather than just watching them. However, while the anime succeeds technically and emotionally, it ultimately left me deeply conflicted and disappointed on a narrative level. The biggest issue for me is how the story handles its romantic dynamics, especially one particular character who represents a kind of love that feels genuine, selfless, and emotionally honest. This character shows care through actions, patience, and emotional presence rather than idealization. Watching her feelings grow naturally, and seeing how…

*No spoilers!* Please note that this was a hard show to review without spoilers because there are many specific flaws in execution. Summary: This review is for Season 1 of Blue Box, which is an anime adaptation of a manga by the same name. Although it is listed as a romance and slice-of-life anime, it tackles themes such as rejection, immaturity, and coming of age. It also incorporates some sports action. Season 1 is not a typical feel-good romance, so it may be jarring if that’s what you’re looking for. Overall, the story has some compelling parts with interesting characters, although its execution is inconsistent. There are times where it is serious and delivers the true nature of young love, crushes, rejection, and unrequited love, but it also has excessive melodrama that detracts from…

I never write reviews, because I usually end up liking whatever anime I watched; however, I should have known when I fell asleep on episode 1 that something wasn’t going to end well. I actually cannot think of any other show that I finished just to get it off my list and never have to worry if I missed out or stopped watching too soon. I disliked this show so much. The first few episodes seemed like it was going to go somewhere, and then it would have a huge lull and setbacks. Then the moment it decided to pick back up, more lulls and setbacks. It was so infuriating that I was practically cussing out the characters every episode. ML and FL were truly agitating. I got to the point where I wish it had been more sports focused and romance be the subplot. And then it ended on a cliffhanger. I…

(Lightweight spoilers) rarely do reviews, but this one seemed like a anime that couldn't go without one. At first it seems like a normal romance anime that although has a love triangle would not develop the other choice(the one that doesn't end with MC) just like normal anime. You see, from the start you already know with who the MC will get but by some unknown reason, the author decides to show you how kind and loving the other option is knowing viewers and himself already know who is the one who will end up being chosen. Viewers who would chose different from the average viewer may find themselves disappointed by the decision, asking questions like: If she was never an option why would the author make it seem like one? Otherwise, if you chose ''correctly'' you may end up frustrated by ho…

Blue Box is a Romance/Sports anime, in that order. So, if you are expecting a lot of sport scenes, to the depth of other sport animes like Haikyu, then you will be disappointed. The sport scenes we do get in the show are pretty good. The animation is fantastic for both sport and non-sport scenes suiting the vibrant scenery we see. For the plot itself, it is nothing outstandingly different. It follows a similar formula found in other shows and doesn't offer something new, besides perhaps the sport it is surrounded in. Personally, the show did a good job of showing struggles and how different people resolve them in their sport life, as the academic life is shown briefly and not in great detail. This was valuable to me as a viewer as it was difficult to relate or find some sort of connection…

ahhh this started off so strong. Great pilot, great animation, promising ML. I was rooting for this show, I really was. Everything shines so very brightly at first. The characters, the court, the dazzling sparks of promise and ambition! For but a moment, we had something here. But I implore you, dear reader, to leave this lustrous blue box well enough alone. Nestled beneath its ornate bow and glossy wrapping paper, it holds just one thing: Disappointment. Even for a romance anime, there's simply far too many contrived scenarios and plot devices at play here. ML and FL (Chinatsu) seldom make any headway by their own merits, but rather due to everyone and everything around them magnetizing them together. Most side characters exist solely to push FL into thinking about ML and setting up int…
