Chaika -The Coffin Princess-
Is an action fantasy comedy.
The cast is composed of ex-saboteur of war Tooru.
His "sister" Akari the brocon. Best character.
And Chaika the supposed princess of the deposed Emperor.
Chaika is on a mission to reunite the scattered pieces of her father. And so must find each one of the heroes in possession of one.
There are alot of twists and turns along the way. They meet interesting people.
While also being pursued by various groups.
The characters are fun, interesting and likeable.
The jokes are funny.
The action is well choreographed.
As for the negatives. Less than half way through the anime the twist becomes obvious, and im not a fan of this twist. I feel it undermines the entire story.
Another thing I didn't like is the supposed romance between…

This will be a fairly short review, because while the show certainly isn't bad it isn't good either; it's just fairly mid, though I will put it on the north side of average because it's generally fast-paced and colorful enough; it's perfectly servicable if you're looking for something to while away a few hours.
I cannot in good consciousness recommend the show, because I just didn't see anything in it that would make me say 'you should watch it', but again, if you do watch it you will probably find it reasonably entertaining.
I honestly have a hard time putting my finger on anything especially good or bad about the story or the characters; the most memorable aspects of the show are gimmicks rather than theme, such as Chaika's broken japanese or the mild jealousy Akari displays, the naggi…

It's alright. There's a good amount here that I'm able to appreciate but ultimately the bulk of it ends up being generic and uninspired.
The story is fairly simple. A childish semi amnesiac girl is out on a mission to find her dead dad's remains and two saboteur siblings follow her on her journey while they're being chased down by a military group. There's a couple extra elements added in the second half but they mostly end up being left as set up rather than leading anywhere, probably to be expanded on in the second season. While there is the occasional exposition dump, what I really appreciate about this story is how natural the flow of information generally is. Not a lot of information is given up simply for the audience's sake, characters generally don’t inquire about things they alr…

“Chaika -The Coffin Princess-” is what happens when You only use the “and then that happened” style of telling Your plot and forget about the story.
I’m gonna be honest, watching this show was like watching someone creating scenes and having little to no idea how to logically connect them. There is a story here but it’s sparse and scattered.
Before we start I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” and “story”. Many people use those terms interchangeably. I’m not one of those people, so to make sure everyone is on the same page…
I use the definitions for “plot” and “story” as Lisa Cron describes them:
“What happens in the story is the PLOT, the surface events.”
“STORY is about how the things that happen affect someone in pursuit of a difficult goal, and how tha…

My first impression of this anime was quite interesting.
Firstly, the characters are beautiful, the design is good, the graphics are not bad and it has a pretty interesting storyline too.
For the beginning of the story, this anime is quite entertaining with comedy and several other cute incidents.
But unfortunately it doesn't apply in the future.
I started to feel bored watching this anime after passing episode 12, in the future the comedy and various elements presented at the beginning started to disappear.
The story started to focus too much, so there were no more funny incidents that made me interested in this anime.
However, this anime doesn't mean it's bad, you can still enjoy it and it's worth watching.

This review will be split into two sections; the first, being brief and spoiler free, the second, being longer analyzing specifics where spoilers are unavoidable (this section will be clearly labeled).
Story: 6, Chaika has a story with a decent design, that is thought out, and makes sense, but ironically the major problem with Chaika's story is due to its characters--our ability to understand other people ultimately boils down to how well we understand what they want, and that is where this story fails. Tooru choosing to help Chaika in the first place is a great example, while there is the argument of, "he needs work", he is clearly overly attached to Chaika for no reason. These loose character motivations make the story (despite feeling well-planned) feel overly orchestrated and unrealis…

Hitsugi no Chaika is a medieval fantasy anime focusing on Chaika’s quest to gather the remains of her deceased father, Arthur Gaz, in order to give him a proper funeral. Emperor Gaz was a powerful and evil wizard who ruled the Gaz Empire for five centuries until he was defeated by eight heroes, bringing an end to a three hundred years long war. The world is now at peace, and our protagonist is a former saboteur who is jobless in peacetime. Chaika encounters him in a forest and decides to hire him and his sister to help her in her quest.
--- At first glance it looks like your generic stuff
The few early episodes make it look like it’s a garbage show. Every characteristic of the generic fantasy anime is there, from the very unoriginal art-style with the character designs that don’t fit t…

The story of a princess who walks around with a coffin.
After the war that ended in victory over the Wizard Emperor, everyone is left trying to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the damage. One such person is Chaika, an adorable and funny girl searching for the remains of her dead father, the defeated wizard emperor, but there seems to be a lot more going on behind the story of Chaika and her reason for doing so.
The plot is the best part of the show. Chaika starts out shrouded in mystery, but as things progress it becomes clearer and clearer what actually led Chaika to start this journey while making her motivation and motives more and more questionable.
The characters have really good backstories that help to push the story forward and to create believable motivations for their…

Hitsugi no Chaika is a rushed anime that I oddly enjoyed watching a lot. There's nothing special about Hitsugi no Chaika other than the female protagonist's eyebrows. Everything else feels generic. But for some reason, watching this show felt way more fun than watching a simple, generic anime.
I guess sometimes you just come across something like this. Something plain and basic yet you still find it entertaining to watch regardless of its ordinariness.
I... I don't really know what to write for this review. The anime ended so fast, I'm still astounded and speechless.
I'd say that Hitsugi no Chaika is a really good simple anime. People who enjoy watching ordinary and plain stuffs should watch this show. It's really good. Really, really good.

"You are a person, have personality"
---Chaika
This is one of those anime that show the flaws up MAL's review categories. While you have an overall and an enjoyment which are for all intents the same thing. There's nothing for voice acting, comedy, or world building, let alone stands on its own. Three out of those four are incredibly important to Chaika.
First up this is the first season of the anime and it doesn't really have an ending. As a whole it has a fair ending, but if you are going to watch it make certain you have both seasons before you start.
World building, Chaika's world is a bit threadbare. The magic doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. The way the people actually use magic makes even less sense. The way they use technology is just as bad. I spent much the series saying…

TL;DR - Hitsugi no Chaika is barely interesting enough to capture one's attention as the show is of the most basic the JRPG genre has to offer, but its lack of ecchi and any hugely problematic story elements make it a relatively decent time-waster and something to eat your dinner to if you have nothing better, but that's unfortunately what this anime amounts to - a waste of time.
Hitsugi no Chaika is an adventure/supernatural anime centered around a girl named Chaika, daughter of the recently overthrown ruler of the world this anime inhabits. This anime takes place in a world I can only describe as a generic JRPG/fantasy world that contains magic, superpowers, and the like.
I really don't have too much to say about this show considering the show itself is extremely simple and rather bla…

Did you ever enjoy RPG? You will most likely like this anime.
I have no idea if there is an actual RPG based on the original content adapted by this anime, but the feeling is quite similar. The characters have classes ("I am a saboteur", "He is a wizard"). Saboteurs are fast and cunning, using knives and something like "bloodlust". The wizards are use gun-like devices to cast spells and they are slow, but powerful (they can miss though). There are traders that sells magic fuel (mana). If you played RPG all of this would sound quite familiar.
Unfortunately, usually if anime feels like RPG is usually not a praise. A game could have very repetitive content (allowing grinding), and could get away with flat characters and little character development with forgettable characters, since the fun…

Coffin Princess Chaika is an entertaining action/fantasy anime which ticks all the boxes right and is never monotonous.
Story:-8/10
The story is fairly decent and intriguing.Large amounts of details are smoothly explained.
Art:-8/10
Consistently good from start to finish.Becomes even better during action scenes.
Sound:-8/10
The soundtrack consistently hypes you and makes the action scenes even more enjoyable. The voice acting is great(especially of Chaika). Character:-9/10
All the characters are engaging and memorable in their own way,but Chaika simply steals the show! Her broken way of speaking is really cute and adds to her personality.
Enjoyment:-8/10
This show never takes itself too seriously and regularly entertains the viewers with rib-tickling moments. There are many twists and tur…

The title was interesting, and I had not heard of the anime before, so I gave it a shot.
Hitsugi no Chaika is wrapped in a compelling world and magic system, but don't think you're getting any answers. For everything that you find out, a few unknown variables pop up, continuously adding to the questions left unanswered. A lot of potential, just not enough.
The art is pretty crisp and nice, and I enjoy all the character designs and the semi steampunk/ old world vibe. Even some of the fight scenes are badass, flowing and intricate, though others are lacking and seem a bit slow. The characters are all enjoyable, and I feel for them, but only on a surface level. I do enjoy that you get to see the search for the remains from different groups' perspectives. It mostly is Chaika, Toru, & company…

Not too bad, it's a fairly interesting anime. I like most of the characters and it made a good job of keeping itself interesting. It's just that there's a lot of flaws, if it wasn't because of my enjoyment reaching a 7/10(not getting bored enough to lose my desire to keep on watching throughout the entire thing), I would've rated it 5/10 thanks to the many flaws and feeling of mediocrity in what could've been awesome if the author had done it right.
The world it's set in isn't bad and the settings of magic and its tools are pretty cool. The powers of the mc is also not bad, but it's a pity almost nothing is ever properly explained in terms of powers and how things work, it's shallow. The harmony between the mc team is fairly good and I especially liked the dragon girl, oh, no, the "dragoo…

Hitsugi no Chaika is... fine. When watching the show, I took note of positive and negative aspects of it. While the length of the positives is a small fraction of the length of the negatives, it was at least enjoyable enough to earn a 5.
Story: 7
I did actually enjoy the story. It's at least unusual, if not actually interesting. A seemingly immortal emperor dies after a 500 year reign, leaving behind a daughter who takes up a coffin and seeks to collect his remains for a funeral. It gets much more complicated than that, and not necessarily better, but that is at least a unique setup. Additionally, the execution is alright as well, though the reveal at the end of season 2 is predictable. Overall it's pretty good, nothing amazing but not bad. It really falls apart after this though.

This is a spoiler free review aimed at those contemplating whether or not to watch this anime.
Hitsugi no Chaika is a very enjoyable fantasy action anime with a great element of mystery in the plot. Whilst not revolutionary and having some weaker aspects, it is sure to please those who go into it with the right mindset. Although I must stress that under no circumstances should you watch the dub. Our main character has quite an annoying speech thing going on (you'll see what I mean when you watch the first episode) which is okay (but not great) in the sub, but is absolutely unbearable in the dub. You have been warned. Okay, here we go!
[Story]
I very much enjoyed the journey of this anime. It has an interesting premise, and develops regularly with certain plot twists and great pacing. Th…

The characters and story feel generic and bland but if you can get past the first episode, things get pretty interesting. Hitsugi no Chaika has a solid theme and is backed by a firm plot. The writers were definitely laser focused and were determined to get their message across. There are a lot of comedic reliefs across the story that felt appropriate and naturally in place. The anime has a good amount of foreshadowing. While a lot of the story is predictable, you will not want to ignore small details which eventually lead to problems or solutions. You may find yourself going back to previous episodes and asking yourself why you didn’t pay attention to those components. The world in Hitsugi no Chaika is quite large but the story spends time going over each town’s unique features and histori…

I really loved the concept of the anime, it was really original and I loved it but it does have a really rushed ending in my opinion. I felt that it could have gotten a better ending but other than that. The story, Art, Sound, Characters, and my Enjoyment of the anime are pretty great.
I feel like this anime is underrated though, I would recommend people watch this because it's just pretty good anime; not the best but not the worst. 9/10.
In conclusion, the Story was great! The art is Beautiful! The sounds were very good as well.
The Character designs were "hella fine". I really enjoyed the anime, it was exciting. The ending made me rate this anime as a 9/10. The Big Boss Guy (no spoilers) didn't do have a death that actually felt good, like he/she was just on the screen for like 4 episo…

Emperor Arthur Gaz ruled for 500 years. But his reign ended after he was slain by the Eight Heroes, ending a long war between the Emperor and the alliance of six nations. The alliance scatters his remains in fear of whatever residual magic they might have. Now we move on to the present day. The show follows a pair of saboteurs, Tooru Acura and Akari Acura. Their new adventures begin when they meet Chaika Trabant, a girl with a coffin on her back whose aim is to search for her father, the late Emperor’s, scattered remains in order to give him a proper burial. However, this makes them the enemies of the alliance of six nations, as their aim is to apprehend Chaika.
Imo cool concept, but I wish the execution was better. Chaika carrying that coffin (which contains a sniper rifle running on mag…
