Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

Introduction

Thousands of years ago, the ancient dragon Bahamut wrought havoc upon the land of Mistarcia, a world where both gods and demons live amongst mankind. Working together to prevent the world's destruction, the rival deities barely managed to seal Bahamut, agreeing to split the key between them so that the dragon would remain eternally imprisoned. With the world safe from the destruction of Bahamut, it is business as usual for bounty hunters like Favaro Leone. Living a laid-back, self-serving lifestyle, the amoral Favaro goes about his work while on the run from fellow bounty hunter Kaisar Lidfard, a righteous man who swears vengeance upon Favaro. However, Favaro's carefree life is thrown into chaos when he meets Amira, a mysterious woman who holds half of the key to the world's fragile peace. Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes who find themselves caught in the middle of an epic clash between gods and demons, forced to carve their own path in the face of the imminent storm. The start of this show is without a doubt a 10/10, the characters, animation all of it. The whole vibe. Making me confused as to why it was only rated about a 7/10. However it seems like after that great start, they didn't really know where to go or what to do with much of the story. So the episodes in the middle feel a bit awkward, and a bit "meh" at times, they aren't nearly as fun and exciting. Towards the end in some ways it goes back up again, at least the excitement and the pace. But there are a lot of weird decisions and "plot holes" in the second half as well. That feel kind of unsatisfying. There's also a few short story episodes after this which I will now watch. Overall I'd probably rate the show an 8/10 But because I think it's underrated my official score on MAL will be a 9/10…

I finished "Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis" about two weeks ago and told myself I should continue the rest of the series. I finished the two ONA episodes and now I'm watching the last 7 episodes of "Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul." I like it a lot, and I gave it a 9 because I think it's underrated. You should watch this masterpiece. But let me explain why. First, the story is refreshing. It's not the typical "hero defeats the demon king and saves the world" setup. It has a chaotic, adventurous feeling, with bounty hunters, angels, demons, and dragons all mixed together in a world that feels alive and colorful. Even if some plot points are predictable, the way the story unfolds keeps you engaged, especially because the characters often make impulsive, human choices that drive the plot fo…

Kinda want to give it an 8 but it ended up a 7. Potential is there. But they kinda wasted in in the first season atleast. I enjoyed it that much though that im looking forward to season 2. But lets get the straight into the obvious. Characters. And especially the MC. Straight away from when the show starts you just get the feeling you wont like them. Two rivals. Just their design is not likeable from the start for me. The red afro. The old style delinquent. Or as they are called. Bomber head and hammer head. But just going on looks might be a bit unfair. Unfortunely from the monent they open their mouths theyve confirmed the suspicion one had about them.. Both loudmouthed. Immature. Womanizer. Acting stupid. The story itself is interesting enough but unfortunely we dont see enough of t…

The anime, much like its original video game, hasn't aged well and reflects the typical style of 2010s anime. Many discussions on forums show that people often view the series nostalgically, praising its animation and story. However, both aspects are actually quite mediocre. The animation, while acceptable, shows MAPPA's early work with several instances of poor CGI, awkward frames, and subpar drawings, mixed with some solid animation moments. Overall, it's a mixed bag. The story feels like a hodgepodge of archangels, demons, and the tale of Jeanne d'Arc, seemingly cobbled together from a cursory read of their respective lore. The characters, such as the angels and demons, are shallow and nonsensical. For instance, Zeus being associated with archangels is puzzling, and many other gods are…

I can start by saying that this is a good title. And by all indicators. Visual style, interesting story, memorable and unique characters. But why is that? Haven't there been many anime released that are similar to the characteristics described above? Yes, there are incredibly few of them. Fantasy anime has long gone from creativity to clichés, the basis of which was laid by such titles as SAO, Slime, Overlord and other slag for the mass consumer, which is not distinguished by its originality. The industry always strives to where there is more money. And if (for example) 10 years ago we valued the anime industry for truly unique and interesting projects, now we, men of honest fate, have to make do with a ridiculously small number of good new anime. And we just have to look for the old on…

If Genesis has a strong suit, it is the ambition behind it. A group of interesting characters set into a genuinely engrossing world, caught between the interests of multiple complex factions in a world-ending stakes game. Yes, not the most original of concepts, yet the mix of the chosen character archetypes and the quasi-medieval setting with heavy focus on heaven/hell mythology makes for a very solid base. Unfortunately, while one can see glimpses of this grand vision in Genesis, the final product strays far from it. The ambition, which could have elevated this anime to top ranks, instead suffocates it. Too much happens in too little time. 12 episodes simply aren't enough to fit all the themes, all the plot developments and all the character growth without a sacrifice to the overall qual…

Review: After i watched the first 2 scenes of this anime i already was thinking "OH BOY! Mappa did great on this one" and they sure did. The character designs of this series is amazing yes most of the characters may have been copy pasted from different mythologies or historical figures like the seven deadly sins Lucifer = Pride, Beelzebub = Gluttony, Jeanne D'arc = Jeanne D'arc and Kaisar = Edgy Space Dandy but they at least made their own designs of those characters to make them look original, Also thumbs up for making Favaro's Afro+Mullet work. 👍 The overall story of this season isn't really anything surprising with the twist and turns being pretty predictable, which i think they didn't really try to make this show unpredictable with the title of the show spoiling the final battle.…

One of my top anime. It has such a well paced and brimming story filled with God and Demon mythology and lore that is familiar, but unique. The story covers much without wasting any moment on filler and is surprisingly epic for it's episode count. It is reminiscent of fantasy tales like Game of Thrones with it's political aspect of it's war story. The characters are endearing and are introduced brilliantly. Favaro and Kaiser's dynamic as rivals is great. Amira has a wonderful arc and is probably the best character. In fact, the use of most of the female characters like Rita and Jeanne d'Arc was refreshing. In my opinion, this is as close as you can get to a perfect tale. And, it has a banger OP. "People always say..."

Tons of heart and tons of fun. The art is incredibly detailed, fresh and vibrant. The characters themselves aren't terribly deep -- look somewhere else if you're looking for philosophical themes and or rich character development. But they serve what they are meant to do pretty damn well. I had a huge smile on my face watching all of their antics go down. This show relies heavily on exposition vs explanation. While the story itself is cliché, predictable and overall generic, it is told in such an endearing manner; it is entertaining, funny, heartwarming and even a little sad at some points. I wish this show had more of a fanbase.

O-oh wow.. I don't even know where to start.. Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis screamed classic fantasy so hard, it feels nostalgically pleasurable. I am just lost for words at this point. In fact, I wasn't even planning to write a review for this show as I don't even know what to write. This anime was awesome. It actually felt like a fantasy anime actually offered something fantasy and actually good. Despite its generic, mediocre story, the show managed to bloom so elegantly I don't even care about the amount of cliches inside this show anymore. The art style, quality and animation was awesome. It made the story-telling and fighting scenes better. I personally despise the Op as I'm not really a rocky person, however, everything else about the sound such as the soundtracks are just superbly f…

This show follows two bounty hunters as they help a mysterious girl find her mother. It immediately becomes clear if you are an anime watcher that this premise sounds suspiciously like Samurai Champloo, but trust me, it's not. Yes, the two characters play the clown and straight man characters well, but that's where it ends. The two main leads were decent characters, but I finished the show without really caring about their stories or their fate. I liked them enough, but there was no emotional attachment. That said, the villain here is pretty smart, but while I liked his plot, his personality was less engaging. The overall plot of the series was pretty straightforward with no real surprises. I was however, disappointed with the world building which I believe wasn't particularly great. The w…

I’ll start off my review by saying I watched the sequel – Virgin Soul – before I watched Genisis, yet I found myself preferring Genesis greatly. One of the major selling points is the music, something I rarely find myself left talking about in my reviews beyond how well the voice actors do if even that. The music definitely reminds me of Lord of the Rings in how epic the sounds were, yet in the same manner the music fit the tone for every single setting. Music in this definitely ended up telling as much as the narrative and artwork did. In fact, the setting reminiscent of the wild west mashed up with a medieval setting set up things lovely, for I expected a hero befitting of a story taking place in the wild west, yet I found myself reminded of Trigun with the sci-fi mash up, yet also Co…

SS Review – Rage of Bahamut: Genesis (Short and Sour) The story is about two bounty hunters who have a rivalry constantly fighting each other while one of them is trying to escort a demon to her mother. Also there is a dragon which everyone is scared of and a war between demons and angels (gods). So that’s pretty much the story in the shortest way I could possibly explain. Animation is done by MAPPA back in 2008 which was the time when it was hit or miss for them but this is definitely a hit in the animation department. Sound design is good, OST fit the world and scenes pretty well. Just too bad the opening is a bit over the top. The best part of this anime is the rivalry between the two main characters, one is a happy go lucky guy who does what he wants when he wants and will lie though…

This became my favourite anime ever since I've watched it. I have been watching anime for more than 10 years and it is one of the extremely rare animes that made me laugh so hard! It first was the fantasy setting with human, angels, demons that caught my eye. Then it was the amusement that made me carry on watching (as I didn't really care about the art style most people disliked) but then it brought in my favourite elements of adventure, friendship and romance. After finishing the episodes, I could only say that this was a perfect story and an experience that everyone should try and enjoy.

Coming into this anime I didn't know what to expect- honestly I figured I probably shouldn't expect a whole heck of a lot- but I was pleasantly surprised by the many things RoBG does right. Not a perfect show by any means, RoBG does enough things right to make it a ride worth taking that I think most anime watchers will enjoy. Art- This is a relatively modern anime and it is very nice visually. It's crisply and vibrantly animated, animations are fluid throughout (which is a huge plus for an anime loaded with fast moving action scenes) and the aesthetic design choices are very fitting for the story this anime wants to tell. At no point was my jaw on the floor at the sheer beauty of any given scene, but I was definitely impressed and found it nice to look at throughout. Sound- Brina Pale…

I picked this up on a whim not knowing very much about it and was I taken for a ride! There are so many different elements and themes going on that I was always surprised by what came next! I think that's what I liked most about it. All the twists and turns really kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat! It's a little rushed at times with everything being shoved into 12 episodes, but I think it handles itself fairly well despite that. I won't say more since I don't want to spoil anything, but I highly recommend checking this one out!

Warning possible Spoilers Going into Rage of Bahamut: Genesis I wasn't expecting much, especially considering this is based off a mobile card game so you couldn't really make much of a story out of it, yet to my surprise the more I watched it, the better it got. Story (8/10) The story concentrates on Favaro, a carefree bounty hunter, however his cosy life is interrupted when he meets a mysterious girl called Amira, but their meeting would cause the beginning of a major catastrophe. Now the story at first had a LOTR feel to it, our main character finds a mysterious object or person and they need to get them somewhere, this was enjoyable though seeing the different situations Favaro and Amira got caught up in which did produce a good couple of laughs. Then once it reaches the midway point…

Imagine having just a card game as source material for an action, adventure, fantasy anime you have to make. MAPPA studios took that challenge and turned a battle card game with no more source material than some conceptual artwork and with as much plot as a cardboard game can have, into a really good anime that even had potential for a masterpiece. I am talking about the 2014 anime, Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, also known as Rage of Bahamut and here is the review to it. Enjoy! PLOT AND STORY LINE Shingeki no Bahamut is set in an alternative version of medieval France in a world where every possible fantasy creature exists. The story sets off with an old tale about the ancient dragon Bahamut that brought about destruction to the land of Mistarcia two thousand years ago. Only by working to…

The story is some good ol' fun adventure... At least at first sight, as it is SIGNIFICANTLY deeper than that... 9/10 but it gets 10/10 from the extra points that I wanted to give the characters. Art and Sound do not even need commentary. 10/10 The characters... This is probably what made the anime REALLY good, not just good. It deservesd FAR more than 10/10! Enjoyment, 10/10 Overall, it is the 2nd best or best anime I have ever watched. (Not that I watch a lot of anime, but I have a very high threshold when it comes to even deciding to PEEK AT an anime, so that is why I only watched 3 or 4 anime so far.)

This is a rare high quality high budget anime, which reminded me of masterpiece titles like Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop. Over the course of the story, it manages to unfold a story that is bigger than heroes involved, and displays complex and convoluted world with a large number of characters and beings inspired by or based on real world legends and even occasional historical figure. It is a very solid show that is worth watching... but somehow it doesn't reach that quality bar where you could call it a masterpiece, even though all the elements seems to be here. Detailed breakdown below: Story: 8/10 Aside from a very small number of highly cliched stereotypical story turns, it is fairly solid and interesting to watch. The show managed to properly keep the events going, unfolding int…
