Another anime with potential that got butchered by bad pacing, forced/unrealistic interactions, emotions, resolutions, and poor character and story development. The writing felt both good and bad at the same time—the overall concept and story arcs are solid, but the way they're executed, at least in the anime, is just very underwhelming. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s better in the manga. The animation is okay nothing worth pointing out. Overall, it’s just alright. Could be worse, but I bet this could’ve been far better with around 24 episodes or so... but oh well, it is what it is. Still dont know how this got arount 7.50 score Here tho xd.

Donten ni Warau is like a snack. Does not taste bad, gives you some kind of enjoyment but does not satisfy your hunger. It is not a bad anime and it is not a waste of time but at best, I guess it is only a little above the average.
The story is pretty mediocre and since it only lasts for 12 episodes, there is not much time to build a world around this story so most of the stuff is left at the dark but I get it. Story is the most mediocre part of this anime, goes like "there are bad guys and there are good guys, fight and save the world!" so don't expect much.
Art is also mediocre but once again, I get it. Did not expect much from a low-budget anime. It's not beautiful but not bad either.
For the sound, voice actors are decent I guess and there were few tunes I liked throughout the show…

I had a hard time rating this one! It's definitely a shonen anime but it's different than the other ones I've seen, it has a lot of heart! They don't have filler in this show and honest to god I feel like they could have spent a bit more time on the story only because I really enjoyed watching the relationships and.... some of them needed more time. The brothers designs were what peaked my interest and then their relationships. They have some amazing banter and really show a different side than what I'm used to seeing with shows like this. It's a short anime so I highly recommend checking it out!

SPOILER FREE - This is one of the most underrated anime ever. I was browsing the samurai section the other day but didn't find anything of interest until I found this rare gem hiding at the bottom of the list. If you're a samurai anime type of guy this one will be worth watching for sure. The story is interesting, the art is beautiful, the sound effects are great, character design is great as well overall I would give it an 8/10. Hopefully, I stumble upon a rare gem like this one day. This anime shows you that the amount of members doesn't tell you precisely how good the anime is but rather watching the anime for yourself is much better than relying on the amount of members.

This anime is really underrated. I just don't think many people know of it. If you happen to be lucky enough to stumble upon it, you'll be happy you did. The story is exciting, full of intrigues, and has a great historical japan setting full of imagination. The characters are well thought out and you definitely find yourself invested in all of them, including the ones you wouldn't expect to. As for the animation, it was done very well. I'm not a huge snob when it comes down to all that, honestly, i find most anime extremely impressive. But, that being said, this really was done well and you'll be able to enjoy this great story line to the full extent due to it.
Give this awesome anime secret a shot and you'll see just how underrated it is. You won't regret it.

I didn't expect so much about this anime at first actually. But as the story progressing, I started to like this show. At first, I read the synopsis that this anime tells about feodal era or something like that. But I was glad this is not your typical feodal era theme.
The story is amusing. The art is good. Yeah, since this is a modern anime that came from 2014. The music is decent, I think. The character is interesting. Even there are so many plot twists involving any character.
Fighting, drama and tragedy mixed into one. There was intense fight yet also emotional backstory. The Opening and Ending are good and suit with this anime, I think.

This thing is boring and nothing special. The story doesn't pick up until episode three and gets a little exciting until episode 8. For a twelve episode show that is bad. This anime uses cheap tactics in order to get an emotion respond from it's viewers. This anime feels like a bunch of amateurs wrote and directed this. I can't hate on it too much on the story, I always felt if you have a weak story put some romance in it and they put two of them. The romance is clumsily one romance is very rush the other does it better but it goes no where.
The characters is where i think why people overrated this anime. The brothers goes thou hardship throughout the show or do they?
Having a twist does not make good anime mediocre is a honest score for this anime.

Donten Ni Warau is a good anime and i would recommend it to friends and others who enjoy anime. The story is pretty okay but it had me all over the place, crying tears only to find out that the tears were useless, loving a character dearly only to find out i shouldn't, hating a character profusely only to find out that i shouldn't, and losing a bit of my sanity around the end. The anime isn't bad at all, infact i enjoyed it. It had alot of things most anime doesn't have which was brotherly love, plot twists that were not really expected, plot twists that could be guessed, and a conflict that lasted through-out the series and resolved with the help of loved ones and family.

Donten Ni Warau is a special show. It shows promise, but doesn't build on it as much as it could.
The story is like a epic about a fight against evil and overcoming obstacles.
I enjoyed the show, but can't give it a higher rating because:
Pace: The pace is not worst one I've seen, but definitely not the best one either, as it moves quite slow in the first 50-60% of the show, before suddenly going back in time to explain some of the background, and then speeding towards the end.
Story: The story stats of a bit whimsical, with three brother capturing criminals the police let escape and ferrying them over to a prison island. But there is some darker story in the background that starts coming to light around halfway through. The story was solid enough, with some exceptions, like the ending, wh…

Lame. In every possible way. It's a real struggle to find anything good about this anime : Action scenes are mediocre, somewhat barely enjoyable at their best. Rhythm is a disaster, especially since the comedy/bromance cut-scenes intervenes at the worst possible time, with not even an once of originality, and all predictable. Was the bromance even necessary to the story to begin with ... ? That could have been - at least - an effective bait, a trap to lure the young girls audience but when it's done that bad, I can only see it as a mockery, an insult to their intelligence.
And the story is not helping, of course. 3 to 4 episodes are enough to know where the whole thing is going (here's come the convenient monster... yay !).
Mostly, this anime goes down because it's cheap. Everything's che…

DONTEN NI WARAU ANIME REVIEW
OVERALL: 8.6
PLOT: 8/10
This anime is unexpectedly great for a 12 episode one. Since I hardly see post and pictures of this series, I thought that is was just fine. However, upon watching it, the excitement I've felt is enough to complete it with just one sitting. This anime focuses on the three brothers and a known monster who will endangered their lives, must we say human lives, every 300 years. I'm truly moved on the bond of these three brothers. Honestly, I've cried, a lot, while watching this one. It's rare to see an anime showing this kind of compassionate love to his family. And this successfully showed it. For me, the plot is twisted just perfectly fine, you will expect but don't expect. However, the one you expect happens. Something like that if you kn…

Super Samurai Bros.
This is one of the most enjoyable short series I've seen in some time. Laughing Under the Clouds seems to take some serious inspiration from some of my favorite anime series of all time with strong familial themes of loss, growth and personal development similar to Gurren Lagan and a striking visual and tonal style that almost shocked me wasn't straight from the team of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The OP and EP were also wonderful and expertly implemented in a sense that they evolved along with the story they told with some seriously high quality music I wouldn't mind having on a playlist with some of the greats.
The visuals are top notch with characters that endear themselves quickly, though I only wish the series could've run a little longer to further expand a…

((SPOILER FREE)) This is my first review ever, I hope you like it!
I give this anime a 9 out of 10. I think Donten ni Warau story is very well constructed and the characters have amazing personalities but the animation itself is poor which is sad... Also, I think the story is complex enough to have more episodes, with only 12 everything happens too fast. I wish there was more mistery and I would like to have more time to meet the characters. I should probably have read the manga instead, but well, I prefer to watch anime. Still, I strongly recommend it :)

Karakara-Kemui's manga first published by Mag Garden on March 2011 with a rather unique story. Mixed by those aspects I mentioned above, it turns out to be a heart warming and bittersweet plot and hits the entire of it. It's started 600 hundred years ago, Orochi~the name of huge snake~, rose and bring the destruction to the whole area where the heros live now. Its resurrection haunts the villagers and the government itself, the Orochi places himself to a human which later becomes one w/ Orochi when the resurrection time comes. 300 hundred years ago, Orochi's resurrection is a failure, and he was defeated by two guys and a woman.
Now, the present is haunted by its resurrection, and those who capable to defeat this devilish creature are youngsters and emotionally upset by the current situati…

I don't want to give a lengthy review for this, because my main goal is to just notice the main strength, weakness, and my opinion on each.
Story: The story is ok. I would not say it's a typical type story. Storyline is taking place in the past, probably during the wartime(it's completely fiction). It involves action so I would not say it's entirely unique, but I think they could've developed it a little bit more. It was going toward a good story if they did not rush too much.
Sound: The soundtrack is not anything out of ordinary. For some action scenes it tries to add dramatic sense to it, mostly ninja or samurai type. But the story overpowers the soundtrack, so sometimes it's even hard to notice the background music.
Character: I want to refrain from spoilers, but this is more like a st…

Great anime, I really enjoyed it the artwork was awesome as well as the story. I enjoyed all the charecters also I'll give it an 8 out 10
The reason II don't give it a 10 is because it was way too short. The length of the anime didn't allow the sorry of the characters to develop properly. For example Shirasu's brother was made out to be this powerful guy and they did nothing with him. Also the orochi battle was very short. I could go on but I liked the anime despite these problems.
Overall very good I'll watch this again

If you like nicely ended stories with much action and plot twisting you'll like this anime.
I had lots of mixed feelings of this anime. Ok first I love Tenka he is the absolutely best character ever, but the reason for my mixed feelings were they were constantly using him as an excuse. Like to get stronger, the reason for this the reason for that, like NO don't do that to MY Tenka!!
(please excuse my language)
Story- Ahhhh again it's like they used Tenka as an excuse too much. This is a giant jumbled animated version of producers continuously bitch slapping the audience. Like it seems calm but then shit gets real and it's like noooo wait what? noooooo wait what?! that kind of feeling the whole way through. While I was watching it I was like I'm so giving this a 1 how dare they but then…

Donten ni Warau also known as Laughing Under the Clouds(which after finishing the anime, the title makes a lot of sense to me now!) looks like a series that is pretty generic at first, but it really isn't.
The show centers around the relationship between the three Komou brothers - Tenka, the oldest, Soramaru, the 'middle brother', and Chuutarou, the youngest, and the events that go on around them.
Now, onto the review!
Story: 10/10
The story was very interesting, mainly focusing on the brothers' relationship(will go into their relationship in the characters section), and the "Orochi's Vessel" that appears once in a few hundred years ? (not sure of the time...). The story was very good, keeping me interested enough to keep watching. Keeping this short to avoid any spoilers.

SpoilerFree Summary [tl;dr]-> this anime focuses on the character development and human interaction mainly, while the story and the combats develops too fast and time to time the events seems out of place or rather rushed. While that's to be expected with having just 12 episodes, if you are into details and mainly give importance to the plot, you may not feel utterly satisfied with Donten.
However, if what you're looking for is not the actions and that you don't mull over details of the plot; but like human drama, interection between the characters and especially brotherly love, you'll probably like Donten, as it's a warm&lovely anime and leaves you with a smile on the face; as its title suggest.
