Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction

Introduction

When you look up at the sky, what do you see? A blue sky? Freedom? A hopeful future? The people of Tokyo see none of these. Instead, an ominous alien mothership looms overhead, engulfing the city skyscape. Three years ago, they came. The arrival of the "Invaders" sparked the greatest war humanity had ever faced—one that threatened to end the world. The Japanese government scrambled to fight the Invaders. Weapons were mass-produced, sparking controversy and pacifist movements. That day, everything changed. And yet, nothing has changed. Kadode Koyama and Ouran Nakagawa live their final days like they always have: going to school, playing with friends, and doing what any carefree high school girl would do. As they grow up, they come to learn what it truly means to be an adult, in a world where adults seem to be demons who only deceive and destroy. They come to learn the real threat to humanity is not the Invaders, but humanity itself. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Overall solid "coming of age" (?) story set against the social decay caused by tension between the individual and the complex intricacies of a global crisis. Visually stunning, that opening is breathtaking lol. The focus on the mundanity of life in what was essentially an apocalypse, how something even as out-there as a UFO hovering over your head at all times eventually becomes engrained into your life as "another thing" was such a poignant exploration of human nature. I was both a fan and not a fan of how there were so many characters, each with their own motivations, all moving along or impacting the plot in their own respective ways. the reason why I'm a fan of it is a given but I think because of the sheer amount of characters being handled, not all of them were done justice, if we…

Absolutely incredible. Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction is an incredibly intelligent and surprisingly nuanced anime. What initially looks like a story about an alien invasion gradually becomes something much more human: a story about ordinary people trying to live their lives while something completely extraordinary—and terrifying—hangs over them. One of the things I love most is how it portrays people living with the literal elephant in the room. There is a fricking UFO hovering over the city, the world has been fundamentally altered, and yet people still have to go to school, go to work, hang out with their friends, worry about relationships, complain about stupid things, and figure out what they're having for dinner. Some people are terrified. Some become obsessed. Some get poli…

Little Guys Inside People? Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction is a show about the insane scenario, of a spacecraft above Tokyo, but despite it all, every day life continues. The characters of the show are what makes it so good, they feel so well realized and don't feel like anime kliché characters. And the writing is willing to really play with some dark scenarios, and put moral dilemmas to the characters. The character design really helps with disarming you. the characters look doughi and soft, but then when the emotional moments happen it hurts even more. The entire presentation of the anime just looks great. Trying to your life, while the powers that be is doing whatever they can to further their own agenda, until the moment you no longer can, and how collected trauma changes a…

This is one of the most interesting and well-made anime series I've ever seen. And I'm glad to be able to say that after 25+ years of watching anime, after 1600 titles watched, and after already starting to lose hope in anime as a medium. In this short review, I will not focus on the subjective experience, but will briefly outline what you can expect from the series. First of all, yes, the title is silly and misleading - this is a very serious and contemplative slice-of-life drama with a sci-fi background, devoid of worn-out anime clichés. The chronology of a city, a country, a world that is falling apart. In fact, it's like Evangelion without robot fights and action, more focused on the daily interactions of morally disoriented characters. In parallel, in an almost documentary fashio…

There's something so disturbingly beautiful about going to school with the end of the world on top of someone. P.S. Don't watch episode 0 first, it's better to watch before the final little arc, it was placed at the beginning for cheap intrigue, when it doesn't belong there. A spaceship floats atop of Japan, and while the world initially ponders in panic what the hell could happen, nothing does. Few deaths, some buildings hurt, but after that, the government says it's all good. Like always, it's all g, you guys carry on with life, and they do, since, what the hell will you do? We follow a group of high-school girls trying to enjoy their lives with all this going on. “Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction” is by far the strangest manga to adapt from the original author, Inio Asano. A ma…

I think it was a solid anime overall. I mostly enjoyed the early-middle portion the vibe was great and the two main characters had a great relationship. I feel the show became a bit too crazy and confusing towards the end and not in like a “omg! This all makes sense now” but just like “ oh?? Okay”. Personally didn’t like the ending but if you’re in the mood for a half slice of life anime half scifi alien invasion anime it’s solid. Idk maybe I’m just dumb but I felt the actual story with the invaders wasnt resolved in a satisfying way, and the ending was just kinda whatever.

I’ve read most of Inio Asano’s works, and I had read about half of Dead Dead Demon’s Dedededestruction before life got in the way. I always meant to finish it, and when the anime adaptation was announced, I figured I’d wait and experience the rest that way. Now that I’ve seen it, I can say: it was totally worth it. The premise is deceptively simple—an enormous alien spaceship hovers over Tokyo, while high schoolers Kadode and Ontan go about their daily lives. At first, it plays out like a quirky slice-of-life with sci-fi elements, full of light comedy and teenage banter. But, as anyone familiar with Asano’s work knows, happiness never lasts. The tone gradually shifts into something much deeper, darker, and more emotionally layered. What starts off as a surreal comedy becomes a poignant e…

DeDeDeDe is a story set in the midst of a soft apocalypse. The invaders have been on Earth for three years, but their nature remains a mystery. UFO crash sites, contaminated areas, and a giant mothership looming overhead are all evidence of their presence, yet no direct contact has been made. It's unclear what their intentions are or even if the mothership is inhabited. How should humanity deal with this situation? Can people go about their daily lives when danger is constantly looming above their heads? What follows is a slow and, at times, frustrating meditation or contemplation, the subject of which remains elusive. There's a sense that you're supposed to "feel" something, but it's not clear what that is. We see snippets of news reports, government officials debating what should be don…

TS;DR: reality punch to remind you of reality, an okay slice of life/science fiction anime. DDDDD is a fictional story that ironically gives a healthy dose of realism to the viewers, mixed with commentary on current topics such as the seemingly nonsensical politics, the effects of media and the internet on the population, and the trust issues and unreliability of information. Selfishness and constancy are the natural behavior of all living beings. Everyone only cares about the things that are in their range of influence. Occurrences outside the capability of the individual will happen. Morality, free will, guilt, sense of justice and similar concepts are not innate to humans, they are ways of adaptation that help preserving the stability of one's own life when living with other individ…

This show has a lot that's good about it, a lot that's not and a helping of things that are downright disturbing. Overall I don't regret watching it but it also left me discontent. The show explores some pretty serious themes and essentially brushes them all off to conclude in a rather abrupt and flippant manner. Some of those themes include genocide, suicide, political corruption, terrorism, etc. These themes are often depicted in graphic, even nauseating detail. Seems like a waste to build this heavy narrative then Rick and Morty it at the very end. I don't know if I've been so disappointed by an ending since I read Gantz(oddly, a pretty on the nose comparison, now that I think about it). But I digress. There are things to like about the show too. For the time it explores most of those t…

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the author for daring to create this profound and complex story. What makes it so deep and intricate? The complexity of thoughts, choices, and motivations of an individual — amplified when two people interact, and becoming even more tangled within the fabric of society. There are countless things people don’t openly discuss, yet they occupy everyone’s thoughts — hidden motives, strengths and weaknesses, beauty and ugliness. And in the end, these forces drive the world forward. When a crisis arises, the tension within these delicate relationships and motivations intensifies exponentially. This turbulence is easy to notice, yet so varied that truly capturing it is a challenge. But this story succeeds. Perhaps in the form of a sketch, as society is to…

Alright, let's rant! Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction tries so hard to be quirky and profound, but it just ends up being a chaotic mess. It’s like the show can’t decide whether it wants to be a slice-of-life, a sci-fi mystery, or just a weird comedy. Instead of blending genres seamlessly, it just stumbles through each one without ever nailing a single vibe. The characters? Forgettable. They lack depth, and no matter how much screen time they get, you just don’t care about their stories. The sci-fi elements? They’re barely there, and when they are, they feel pointless and disconnected from the rest of the plot. And the slice-of-life aspect? Instead of feeling relatable or charming, it just drags on with no real purpose. Honestly, it’s like the show is trying too hard to be “deep” a…

This is anime is completely slept on and more people should watch it. It’s definitely worth the play through and should get the recognition it deserves. I found the dub also stands the story and voice test if there’s too much information for you to take in on the sub version. I also wouldn’t recommend watching it if you’re tired as the story can get in depth in parts and can confuse you if you weren’t paying attention. The art style I quite enjoyed after a while. I couldn’t help but see a lot of animals in the characters faces though which kept me quite amused. Story is solid and for a sci fi I enjoyed it as its wasn’t the usual storyline.

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction fuses slice-of-life charm with the electric tension of a thriller, creating an explosive genre hybrid that feels surprisingly natural. The story centers on two best friends—yin and yang in personality, abstract and concrete—whose chemistry anchors the everyday moments. Yet their world is anything but ordinary, warped by an alien invasion that injects uncertainty into Tokyo’s atmosphere. The result is an intriguing plot that blends relatable banter with a wild, unpredictable ride. The anime shines in its world-building and character depth. Politics, both human and cosmic, twist through the narrative, with governments, invaders, and citizens all reacting in ways that keep you guessing. Each character, even the so-called villains, carries distinct motiva…

Something I highly enjoy from anime, or maybe even from Japanese media in general, is they don't let genres define their works. Or it may be more of a thing from us consumers, simplifying art to mere tags. More than many, DEDEDEDE truly defies these preconceptions. To simply call it a "science fiction" or a "slice of life" anime doesn't do it justice. It isn't one more than the other. But let's not get lost into meaningless definitions. There are constant, deep character explorations with meaningful dialogue, that's always made believable to fit each character, avoiding to feel shoehorned or unnecessarily philosophical for the situation. A conversation can be as superfluous as discussing an everyday occurrence, but the delivery of the lines, the current setting, their expressions. It ma…

Great world building and interesting premiere, I always love it when there's an anime which tries to do something different, the idea of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic world interests me a lot. But imo, the story is poorly executed, the characters' motivations don't make any sense and the side characters are very flat. There's too many elements involving time travel and mystery that feel like they're made up along the way. And the biggest mystery is explained like a powerpoint presentation then the anime just goes downhill from there. What I like about Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction though is the relationship of the 2 main characters are beautiful and admirable. Real friendship portrayal is appreciated. So, is the anime worth watching? Yes. But is it a good anime? No.

Not entirely sure how to feel on this one. There were some really interesting aspects to it and I quite enjoyed the slice-of-life elements tied in with the sci-fi plot HOWEVER i feel like a lot of this series was throwing interesting ideas at the wall, without properly fleshing them out, to see what would stick. Pairing that with pacing that gives you whiplash and main characters who's motives are a little too unbelievable and you're left with something that had serious potential but ultimately misses the mark and falls flat on a lot of occasions. Is it entertaining? Sure, at times. Don't go into this series expecting a perfectly tied together sci-fi epic though.

Dedo Dedo Dede Dede... One hell of a name, isn't it? This show is a lot of things, it is so many things that the most elaborate review of it on this website is incredibly long. But in short; it is cute (almost chibi) girls living their cute slice of life lives juxtaposed against a gritty, realistic first contact scenario in which everything goes wrong. It is this contrast that I found surprisingly real. Life changes incredibly slowly, it takes years for one to notice but it's always dynamic. One day, aliens arrive. Three years later, people who were 14 when the massive mothership appeared over Tokyo are graduating high school, enrolling in college, looking for jobs and getting into relationships. But the UFO is still there, seemingly unchanged, part of the scenery, almost. All the while…

Whether or not you'll enjoy this show heavily depends on how negative your worldview is. Most People are shown as immoral, illogical or brain dead. Politicians are uncaring and stupid, exhibiting psychopathic tendencies. Soldiers are pawns that only listen to orders even in the face of extreme violence etc. Mind you, I don't exactly disagree with this representation. I myself am a misanthrope and to put it bluntly I hate most people. But even for me this worldview is overexaggerated. Sure, politicians bad but there's a reason why humanity wasn't wiped out during cold war. The people at the top care too much about their money and their own safety to just wage war on an alien species they don't know ANYTHING about. Plus even if they do, the other countries won't let japan have all the fun u…

(Note: I watched "Episode 0" between the last 2 episodes [16 and 17], I strongly suggest you do the same for reasons I'll elaborate on) A great show with an ending that stuck in my craw I thought it started out with a strong hook. What do those aliens be doing up there? You follow a couple of high school besties and I can see them being off-putting but I found them really fun. Oran is just a weirdo and a delightful one at that. I thought Rin was kinda underutilized but Ai gets some good characterization and so does Kiho. Obviously Kadode also gets some good things as one half of the main duo. Overall, I liked the friend group. If it wasn't Dededede and it was just some CGDCT show, I'd watch. I think a lot of the characters no matter how small or big get lots to work with. There are a…
