First of all. I know this is sort of the 'soda' of anime so to speak. I know that. I expected that. Usually I can love that. (I loved sao)
For me what really ruined it was 1: characters literally having no semblance of agency or self preservation. It feels like every character in the anime is there to either fulfill the power fantasy towards the protagonist or carry along the plot. And at some point it felt like the author or director or whoever wrote this just completely gave up on portraying what a human is even to the most basic level: in later seasons characters(especially the background ones) lack, almost to a comedic degree: a sense of preservation or panic caused by sudden and inevitable death. What you will see when you watch this show is that people aren't realy afraid of death…

Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? Absolutely not!
But then you quickly realize that's not really the case, but what you're given is actually much better than what the title implies. It's actually quite an interesting premise where gods from different mythologies lead familias in Orario, granting their followers divine blessings, and we see Bell get introduced to Hestia, where they are both incredibly weak.
But it doesn't end there. The story follows Bell on his journey to becoming stronger, fighting for something or someone so he can eventually stand on the same level as, and I must say it was actually done surprisingly well. Bell is a bit of a peabrain at times, but it does add to the story. It gives you some good laughs, but also some mental conflict with certain actions he de…

I had my reservations going into DanMachi, but ended up coming out the other side of season one pleasantly surprised.
First off, the premise seemed a bit strange, but at the same time its right there in the title. You know what you're signing up for. It's okay to admit you were intrigued, I was as well, and so is the person judging you for it despite how hard they're trying to hide it.
What I didn't know I was signing up for though was a somewhat interesting look on fantasy world building, as well as a protagonist that was actually fun to watch grow and interact with the world around him. There were some real good high moments, as well as some not so good low moments, though overall I'd say it averaged out to an enjoyable experience overall.
The same can be said for the characters. Some…

I remember when this series was new and everyone was talking about Hestia is Breastia and all the memes around that. Other than that, I honestly did not know much about the series beyond the fact that it was some kind of fantasy action show. I did not even know it was based on light novels.
Based on the things I had heard about it, I ignored it for over a decade. Once the audiobook light novels came out, I decided to finally give Season 1 a shot.
I want to say that I kind of like it, but I also have mixed feelings about it.
I think the setting is surprisingly unique and cool. A light novel that is purely fantasy-based without being an isekai feels relatively fresh these days, when the majority of fantasy stories seem to have to be isekai for some reason.
What I like is that DanMachi fe…

I do hate the idea of an MC going through the whole story trying to get stronger just so one girl will notice him, but luckily the story ventures down a different route and also takes itself more seriously as it goes on. It becomes more about him wanting to save people and wanting to get stronger to achieve that goal, which I can kind of appreciate, though his arc in the story is a tad bit shallow and I would've wished for more. The show itself is also a bit lighter than what I usually like so minus points for that but it’s still decent enough for having nothing else to watch.

I started watching DanMachi Season 1 purely because of that ridiculous title. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Come on how do you not click on that? I was expecting some brainless ecchi harem trash with a generic OP protagonist but man it actually surprised me in a good way. I binged all 13 episodes over a weekend staying up way too late on a couple nights and honestly? It was worth the sleep deprivation.
The story follows Bell Cranel this wide eyed kid who moves to Orario with basically nothing but big dreams of becoming a hero like his grandpas stories. Hes not some overpowered edgelord or a perv who collects girls like Pokemon cards. Dude is laser focused on getting stronger diving deeper into the dungeon and making his goddess Hestia proud. That single minded dedicati…

I watched this when it first came out, I enjoyed it, I got the books, thought the books were amazing and contained so much more than was in the anime, I continued with the series as it has come out, and well, season 4 & 5 were game changers, having already read the books I knew what was going to happen but we had adaptations that were worthy of the books.
So, coming back to Season 1 it was a hard watch, seeing how poor the adaptation is, knowing that there is just no excuse for if as they have shown what they are capable of and that they can do a proper adaptation of Danmachi if they want, it was frustrating.
The good parts are still good, Bell's quest to become a hero and his desire to get stronger, the fact we don't have an OP main character in the form of Bell, but he instead has to st…

To be honest, at first look DanMachi can seem like a really good anime. It has an interesting world with gods and adventures, interesting story with a main character who is unaware of his true powers, characters that don’t exist just to fill the background, and good animation, especially for a new title.
But in fact, even the first season is not very good and can hardly get a 6/10. Still, if we compare it to all the other seasons, it’s pretty solid and MAYBE worth watching if you’re bored or REALLY interested in this anime.
Otherwise, don`t waste your time and just skip this one. But if you still decide to watch it, don’t watch any other seasons, it only gets worse.

There's nothing else really like this even though it just looks like another generic medieval anime. The character and animation design of Hestia is exquisite and simply unforgettable. There is more nuance put into her little motions than exists in the entirety of most anime shows. This was needed because of how her personality works, and the animators cared enough to make that happen. That's passion. What's even better is that Hestia's English voice is also unforgettable due to a seeming lisp she possesses, which makes her unique and has her stand out from other waifu material. This anime girl is not like the others that's for sure (if you're cultured enough to watch the dub, that is). Oh, and the anime is great too, I guess. The first season has Hestia in it the most, which means it's th…

Note: This will be a review of the series in its entirety
Overview:
"Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka", roughly translated as "Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon" and generally abbreviated as "DanMachi", is a seemingly cliched fantasy adventure anime that nevertheless makes a good effort at carving its own identity, even if the title alone could very well put off some potential viewers altogether. While it falls a pretty long way short from true greatness and can't help but fall back on familiar tropes from time to time, this is still a unique and interesting series that you may very well end up enjoying in spite of yourself.
Story (7.5/10):
Set in a world where the gods and goddesses descended long ago to live among humanity, "Danmachi" takes place…

Danmachi isn't a bad anime- it's not a good one either. "So why the score?", you ask. Good question. Before giving my overall thoughts, some basic ratings:
Story: 5/10
Overall Sound: 7/10
Animation: 9/10
Characters: 6/10
I have very little to say in terms of the anime besides this: it's your average run of the mill "we must climb the tower for money/to raise our stats" anime, although it's a lot less rigid in its 'stat' system than something like Sword Art Online. If anything they're there for gamification's sake, and something the universe makes abundantly clear is that even something that you overpower by a lot can get you if you're cocky.
The characters are pretty standard with some fun variations here and there, and the soundtrack is a bit generic sadly. Some of the concepts, most i…

First off, this anime doesn't really have very much screen time in dungeons and there isn't very much action either. And it's not about picking up girls in a dungeon. All the interactions with girls begins outside of the dungeon. The English title of "Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon" is very misleading. A much better translation would be: "Is it wrong to hope for an encounter in a dungeon?"
This anime is about dungeon adventurers, gods/goddesses, power leveling systems, fantasy races, etc.; Basically everything a dungeon fantasy anime should have. However, most of the anime is about interpersonal relations and situational drama. There is dungeon exploration and power systems, but that is more of a pretext for the rest of the anime. However, in later seasons, there is more action…

This is my review, I hope it helps those who are wondering whether to watch Danmachi or not.
Pros:
1.Unique Setting: The mix of fantasy dungeon crawling with a bustling city provides a captivating backdrop.
2.Character Development: The growth of main characters, especially Bell Cranel, adds depth and emotional engagement.
3.Humor and Heart: A good balance of comedic moments and heartfelt interactions, particularly in relationships. 4.Action-Packed: Dynamic fight scenes with diverse monsters keep the pacing exciting.
Cons:
1.Plot Pacing: Some arcs feel rushed or underdeveloped, impacting overall story
coherence.
2.Harem Elements: The romantic subplot may not appeal to all viewers, given its focus on multiple love interests.
3.Repetitive Themes: With several seasons, some concepts f…

Brief overview: Basically Dragon Quest that is set primarily in a dungeon.
Review will be based on the whole season until season 5.
8/10 for the whole series
Introduction
Bell is keen to go on his first journey on a dungeon exploration with his goddess as a back-up support. However, throughout his journey, he is too weak and understrength with the lack of party members. Therefore, he would need to take one step at a time in order to set up the most epic dungeon in his career.
Story 7/10
The Isekai genre has been done to death. Some can be considered insanely good and others can be insanely bad. Danmachi is somewhere at the middle however it is not a Isekai where some bullshit fucker that died and reincarnated into another world. The story is set straight from the beginning, where you hav…

Dungeon anime is about a swordsman boy who needs to go to the video game tower dungeon to level up so he can protect his nakama, save the girl, and build his harem.
The boy is a nice guy dumdum who’s totally innocent and heroic but it’s not base audience gratification if he’s weak some of the time. His effete regular voice and grating screams and yelling are brought to you by the overcast Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, doing the exact same performance done as the leads in the previous Sword Art Online, and later on Eromanga Sensei, not to mention countless other roles in shounen action and narou-kei de jour. I mention this because this anime is inferior to SAO by order of magnitude, Kirito was interested in virtual reality and AI, not just slaying the dungeon beast and making the girls swoon. So w…

I was hesitant to start because this anime has a dumb title and the premise sounds very basic. Ended up surprisingly enjoying it.
Story is about a weak adventurer name Bell, who wants to go into dungeons so he can...catch up to the Sword Princess' level. Yeah, sounds dumb, I know. But what isn't dumb, is how the show tells the story. From the getgo, you really see Bell struggle. He's really just another peon, but through grit and a little cleverness plus a WHOOOLLLEEEE lot of luck- he gets stronger and stronger, really fast.
Starting with the character, Bell as the MC is passable. He's your typical naive Naruto/Deku/Kirito shounen lead, except I guess he has some ounce of libido since he does what he does to impress girls. My guy gets tricked, gets beat up, gets left behind, gets saved-…

Overall the title is pretty suggestive of being something really low quality but in all fairness it's actually pretty enjoyable
First the bad stuff some people will likely judge harsher than I do is fan service stuff harem bit of a predictable plot.
The good stuff is the world building animation and art style won't blow anyone out of their minds but since it's practically 10 years old it is still good looking. Good chunk of the arcs are really good and serve as character building Probably the highlight will be the dynamic between Bell and Hestia it feels like they really do manage to pull off their close relationship.

This one really surprised me. In the process of getting caught up on some of the shows getting a sequel season for the fall, I decided to get this series through as well. It really wasn't as much what I expected either. Which truly is a good thing, as what I was expecting was a lot less fun than this concept is.
Danmachi does a great job of building it's world and what to expect from its story. I like the comfy feel of the show as it moves along fairly slow, but it never feels boring. It just allows time between the action to build the characters and some of the world that is shown here is actually really clever and fun. The story really opens up when the cast of characters broadens a bit, and the chemistry between Belle and his allies is extremely fun. These types of shows live and brea…

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Naaaah, It´s part of a man´s romance, Rrrrrrrrrromance!
Danmachi to say the least this is pretty much the definition of guilty pleasure, cliches and fan-service in anime. It´s story isn´t over the top but it isn´t underwhelming either, after the death of his grandfather our MC (Bell Cranel) adventures to the great city of Orario to become a hero for the people but specially for "THA LADIES" ;-) hence the picking up girls in a dungeon title.
For the first season the anime is interesting enough to want to keep on watching it, the pacing is a little odd at times for the most part is slow but then picks up quite fast at certain parts. There are things like blessings from the gods and the power system which need more explaining, since all we k…

The words "pick up girls", when put together in the title of a fantasy work, certainly conjure up peculiar mental images. As incredible as it may seem, this story delivers a very reasonable experience; there are very creative dynamics, an interesting world history and references to existing mythologies.
The journey is one of progression, satisfying to follow. Very significant obstacles are overcome, but the plot armor of some moments leaves a bitter taste in the audience's mouth. A very subtle (yes, subtle) dose of ecchi awaits you, so be careful when watching with your door open.
There is character development, and it is done well. The bad part is that the characters have very cliché personalities, so for those who watched everything, there won't be anything new. Villains and heroes are…
