I can't say exactly why, maybe the characters, maybe the setting, maybe the possibilities, or the opening, I just know I loved this anime. Even though it doesn't have much action, there's something about it that makes me like it so much. Log Horizon isn't an unknown work, but it's also not exactly a favorite among isekai enthusiasts; it's more seen as an anime that tries to capitalize on the fame of SAO. Even so, I love this anime. The characters are memorable, they evolve, they show their worth, and they captivate the viewer. I feel it's exactly how an MMORPG should be, because the characters are always together. You see that there's a community there, that those who were already known really convey the feeling that they were already comrades in the game, and after the phenomenon that bro…

"Log Horizon" (2013) is possibly one of the anime series we have to thank for the isekai saturation that still dominates the medium to this day. During its original run, it was often compared to "Sword Art Online" (2012), even though LH's real focus was never on action or romance, but rather on negotiation and "political" intrigue (quotation marks intended).
I can understand why many people enjoy this franchise: its seemingly more intellectual tone, its appealing color palette, and its generally solid production values. However, none of that is enough to compensate for the shallowness of much of its cast, its uneven pacing, the often contrived and pretentious dialogue, and, above all, the persistent feeling that by the end of the story very little has been accomplished regarding its centr…

There are a lot of retards, but at least MC is not one of them. Too many annoying characters and a bunch of kids. They pissed me off more than necessary. Watching it brought me less satisfaction than an average slice-of-life anime, so I cannot give a rating higher than 6.
I like the concept of this anime. Many things are well thought out. There are some interesting characters, but... Unfortunately, there is too much focus on children and mundane matters. A lot of characters are so annoying that it makes me want to rage quit. I think their policies are too lenient. They tolerate troublemakers and kiss their asses.
It would have been much more interesting if there had been less focus on children's growth and more on something decent. It's irritating to look at dumb characters, their repetiti…

Its worth the time!
Honestly, Log Horizon was super cool from start to finish. I really loved how the story focused more on strategies and brains rather than just action. Shiroe’s plans and how he always stays ten steps ahead were just amazing to watch—it felt like every move had meaning. The way he handled situations with logic instead of brute force made him such a unique main character.
The world-building was another thing I really enjoyed. Seeing how the players started creating their own society, coming up with systems, inventions, and even trading methods made it all feel so real. It wasn’t just about fighting monsters—it was about surviving, adapting, and actually living in a new world.
The characters were great too, especially the mix of personalities around Shiroe. The ladies we…

I have finished watching season 1 and have increased the confidence of my assessment that Log Horizon is just not very good.
The most interesting idea it had was Akatsuki being hit with dysphoria from physically occupying her male player character in episode 1, and all it was used for was to make her obsessively devoted to Shiroe. There's otherwise no visible evidence of basically any friction at all between who the players are as people and the roles they assumed in-game until a single character introduced in the last ten minutes of the season, down to the fact that all of the new players have child characters that reflect their IRL age.
I did not like that almost every female character is characterized by her infatuation with a guy. Most of the cast did not ring true as people who were…

It's Sword Art Online. But whereas SAO was hot sweaty dogshit, this is merely mediocre.
This series REALLY wants to be an MMO game. SAO was a typical action shonen with a layer of MMO tropes on top of it. Here, the MMO part is the entire pie. A video game HUD is sometimes present, respawning is a thing, exact ability cooldown timers (like ones that have 15 seconds) are relevant details, EXP potions exist, clans and guilds are a thing, there's a clear distinction between humans and NPCs, there's long distance voice chat, etc. etc. This show seems to be really fascinated by its premise. I don't think that's necessarily good or bad in and of itself, as the overall vibe ends up being pretty close to any other isekai or fantasy anyways. But the issue I have is that the show thinks that premise…

I think the main reason this show under-delivers is that the thing it's praised for - world-building, societal reformation, and so on - are simply not as advanced or clever as fans suggest.
1. The tone at the start is WAY too uplifting for the situation these people found themselves in. Now, I'm not saying go full SAO, but each of these people are REAL, normal people (supposedly). All of them just got kidnapped and thrown into this fantasy world nobody understands, yet it feels as though they don't really mind. Not even ONE of the kids ever mentions missing their parents or their school, nor throws a tantrum. None of the main characters had someone special in the real world they just left alone. Shiroe alone has any opinion on being basically immortal now. This makes them feel completely…

How To Guide To Make A Gamers Society
log Horizon Is one of the best takes on trapped in a video game world genre, I have seen. on how it tackles video game mechanics and make them interesting and evolving.
The show is about Society building and how to motivate gamers to work together, and it goes about it in a interesting and intelligent way.
It shows how to motivate people, what make people stay away from each other, and what is the reason that we play MMOs in the first place.
log Horizon is very interested in game mechanics and how they would evolve, if real world logic were given to video game mechanics.
What makes food taste good?
What does evolution of class abilities to?
What if world quest are not resolved?
how to build a society from scrap?
are a examples of what the Show tackl…

It wasn't apparent to me until watching the whole season and the next two seasons but this is a kid's show.
It's handles being a kid and the issues that around that, pretty seriously.
I think the digimon / young teen crowd might get a lot of the show.
There is a going to a huge portion of the show which will be miserable for adults.
It's extremely chaste, but in this case it's a positive because again, it's a kids show.
The setting and big picture plot is great. It's not a show about harem building, or super powers, or video game mastery. It's about dealing with a crisis as a community and dealing with people who disagree about what to do in it. Pretty good stuff for 2025 when you can see everyone everywhere get more desperate in real life. Show has a message about that, like hey go out t…

Let's keep this quick:
The first arc is terrible. It fails the "suck it and see" 3 episodes test that most anime watchers use. However, AFTER the first arc, it suddenly discovers that it has interesting ideas actually, and so "may" still be worth watching.
The real strength of the show, imo, is the plot. It's a big ideas sort of show. It takes the premise of "Oh No, We're Trapped Inside an MMO" and actually plays out some problems that might arise from that. You have a bunch of bored, frustrated, homesick players who haven't tasted real food in weeks? How do you stop them from repeatedly spawnkilling players and NPCs and taking out their anger on each other? What would it really take to turn a group of anarchic, immortal, real world miserable teenagers into a functioning society, within…

This is what Sword Art Online should have been. I also love how they don't make Shiroe into this super badass who can do everything and anything and is extremely charming. They split that into a different character in Krusty. I only wish they gave more character development to other characters.
I love how it feels like this show was written by people who know how MMORPGs are like, and I love the rule bending they do in the world to make it different from a game, but still feel like it, like how if you make food using the crafting menu it tastes bland, but if you make it normally, it tastes like actual food. Its such a clever way to make it so they can't just craft everything or do things the easy way. It shows that this world might be based off a game, but it's not exactly a game world.…

It starts off as a really pleasant romp and has some neat themes regarding freedom and community. However, it throws all of its goodwill out the window when it starts going off about *how* the Adventurers should organize themselves and come to accept that this is real life for them going forward. That is, it just becomes full-on propaganda about how states run by capitalists are efficient and benevolent for several episodes and the rest of the series lives in the fallout of that. There's one point where they literally bemoan that people don't need much money to live comfortably and offer the need to purchase jewels as a solution. And then there's the subplot about teaching a princess about what freedom means and she... remains a princess.
It's not a bad show necessarily, but it reflects a…

It's hard writing a review on an isekai without mentioning the whole genre.
Isekais are famous for having crazy ideas distilled into bland, boring and uninteresting narratives & characters. I never really watched that many isekais, but the overall hate surrounding the genre makes me want to avoid it. The way I see it, most of these fall into the "forgettable fun" or "cool to hate" shows. But there are some rare shows that do some cool things.
ReZero works around the overpowered trope by taking a normal/not OP human to suffer in a generic isekai, Mushoku Tensei works around the "another world, another chance" trope by taking a worst MC to go on a redemption arc,
And then there's Log Horizon, which works around the "fun" trope about gamers trapped in a game-like world, and building an absolu…

After defeating the goblins, it becomes a drag, but it's nowhere near as exciting as SAO. The framework of all online game novels is generally similar, but Orange takes the effort to fill it with details, turning it into a fully functioning world. From massive monster invasions to cooking and even minor tasks, everything becomes a headache. It's like the Mayflower Puritans stepping onto a new continent, from a desperate situation to becoming unstoppable, which is truly inspiring. Rather than calling Shiroe clever, he's more like a troublemaker. It's a tightly woven storyline in the genre of being transported into an immersive online game. I really love the characters, especially the ones with glasses and their cunning, unpredictable traits! The setting is well-developed with a comprehensive…

"Any kind of life can go wrong, get sick, or suffer. Life ages, decays, and eventually dies. Disliking that fact because it's painful is no different than disliking life itself."
If you're waiting for a show full of action and graphic animation, I don't think this work is ideal for you. It is not a show made to enjoy the fight, it even creates situations where a more aggressive attitude is needed bringing us an action, but its focus is to show you the development of the world and how our protagonist will solve the recurring problems.
Story: If you like a fantasy with a lot of emotion and an accelerated development of the universe, this show may not be for you, as it is the exact opposite of genre works. The world of Log Horizon is created from the isekai base, only in a more realistic wa…

*** MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD ***
Note: My reviews are like a note for my future self. I try to not spoil anything in it, because in the case I want to rewatch the show, I don't want to know too much about it other than what I think I will remember or surface level details that don't really matter much. I just want to make sure my future self understands a bit of how I felt about it and why I gave this mark.

I enjoy the anime. I'm picky when it comes to choosing anime that I watch. When I don't like something, I don't watch them anymore. It doesn't mean that the anime is bad, it's just that I don't prefer it.
What I love about this animation is that I learn lessons from each characters. I also love the animation. And what I really love the most is the background musics. It gives me chills and I find it sugoii.
I see the weakness and strengths of every character. I like every character of it and the story.
I believe everyone will enjoy this animation huhuhu.

Log Horizon is my Nb.1 Favorite anime!!!! While it is Similar to the popular anime, Sword Art Online, a lot of things are differently written. (Biggest & bestest difference is, when they die, they don't die in real life! Their is a price but, that's a spoiler) This anime follows college student, Shiroe the ultimate MMORPG Strategist who plays a popular Pc game called, Elder Tales. One day while waiting for the next update package, him & 30,000 players are from that day trapped in a world similar to Elder Tales. Biggest problem, The world is constantly changing, & expanding! To Watch this show, you should probably know at least some things about gamer lingo & rules, otherwise you will be irritated while watching it. This anime is almost wholesome except for The things that come out of Shiro…

This anime is a good show, though it is nothing original or groundbreaking. Overall it executes and delivers the intended message well, but it still falls short in certain areas. I will proceed to give my thoughts on each component as well as a score for said component. Please note that if I write any spoilers, I will put them between *'s.
First of all, the story. I think the story is very good. The theme of the anime as I saw it is "the value of life". We see them very early on get dropped in a game world inexplicably, and you see the state of the world around them deteriorate. Even though the revive when killed, like normal humans no one really wants to die anyways...its still painful and scary. Everyone has the bare minimum to survive, and they are dropped into a new world with no rul…

Database! Database! We're living in the Database! Wo-oh!
If you die in the game you die for real stories with people getting trapped in video game worlds have been around forever. I guess you could even go as far back as the Matrix trilogy as inspiration for these types of light novels. But we all know it was SAO that kind of started the whole fad of adapting all of these isekai light novel stories. Not all of them have the trapped in a video game world premise, but even if it's just a generic fantasy world it'll have some video game mechanics thrown in there for seemingly no reason. My theory for this is that western style fantasies were largely popularized in Japan in the first place through the JRPG. You know, Dragon Quest and the like. It stands to reason that they just associate fant…
