That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Introduction

Thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is a typical corporate worker, who is perfectly content with his monotonous lifestyle in Tokyo, other than failing to nail down a girlfriend even once throughout his life. In the midst of a casual encounter with his colleague, he falls victim to a random assailant on the streets and is stabbed. However, while succumbing to his injuries, a peculiar voice echoes in his mind, and recites a bunch of commands which the dying man cannot make sense of. When Satoru regains consciousness, he discovers that he has reincarnated as a goop of slime in an unfamiliar realm. In doing so, he acquires newfound skills—notably, the power to devour anything and mimic its appearance and abilities. He then stumbles upon the sealed Catastrophe-level monster "Storm Dragon" Veldora who had been sealed away for the past 300 years for devastating a town to ashes. Sympathetic to his predicament, Satoru befriends him, promising to assist in destroying the seal. In return, Veldora bestows upon him the name Rimuru Tempest to grant him divine protection. Now, liberated from the mundanities of his past life, Rimuru embarks on a fresh journey with a distinct goal in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new physique, his gooey antics ripple throughout the world, gradually altering his fate. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

It is written so weirdly. The author tries way too much and as a result, ends up doing nothing right. Here are a few of my main issues with it: 1. It's written like it's for stupid kids because of the excessive over-explaining, but at the same time, 40-year-old Rimuru is constantly sexualizing the other kids and female characters. 2. Every single enemy is completely useless. Every couple of episodes, a new opponent shows up, gets one-shotted, and immediately joins Rimuru. The fights are so boring; I don't even understand why they are in the show. They always follow the exact same formula: * "Grrr, I'm going to destroy your village!" * "You're just a slime, you can't beat me!" * Gets beaten in one attack. * "Please let me serve you, Master." 3. The clothing doesn't fit this era either…

Reincarnated as a Slime is the definition of a comfort watch. The kind of show you put on with snacks and don't look up from for hours. Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the most popular isekai of all time, and I back that chart, it's just such a well-rounded show, with the ability to pull in so many different demographics. This show is very pleasing to watch. It's quite slow, but also adapted very carefully. If you're into political intrigue, action, or even just slice of life, it has all of those things in a bowl, and every episode you're not sure which one you'll pull out. Watching Rimuru build an empire with all of his friends never feels boring, and I think that's the main takeaway from this show is that it's never boring. You always feel involved and ready to see what happens next…

This anime was quite simply a disappointment. It started promisingly enough by being a cute take on the isekai genre. But it unfortunately never evolved into conveying any kind of point. It was more like watching a let's-play on easy mode than watching a story unfold. That plus a weird focus on boobs. At the end of the season when there was a recap of all the things the MC went through with sweeping music played in the background, all I could think of was "why bother?" Apparently MAL requires me to write more about this, when there's nothing left to say besides: do yourself a favor and skip this series.

Its really hard for me to rate this series. In some episodes I really really enjoyed watching it, in others it was too scheming and boring. I discovered this franchise by watching the movie, part two, which is of course a damn bad order, but the series is definitely better than this movie. I definitely didn't expect so much violence (it's not GoblinSlyer, but it's still a lot for such a simple isekai) and ecchi content. I mean I didn't expect that we would have contact with death in any way in something like this, and theres some crazy plot about turning children into demons. As for the ecchi, characters like Millim and Shion are drawn in such a way that it becomes very formulaic. I don't know if it would hurt much if Shion had a few scenes without the comical cleavage. As for the plo…

Its the best reincarnation anime that i have watched you may hate the whole genre but become addicted to this anime okay i know the mc is a childish but at the same time it a pretty good mc it isn't a well written or anything it just "good" and most of the side characters are like that the story isn't that unique or anything but its just enjoyable and the animation its very good compared to other reincarnation animes its better than overlord or shield hero and the same level of rezero or mushoku tensei i prefer it to be your first reincarnation anime to watch

Some isekai throw their protagonist into another world to conquer it. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime does something much more charming: it lets its protagonist slowly build a home. Isekai anime are more prominent than ever now in 2026, and a lot of modern series owe at least some of their popularity to the success that Slime helped bring to the genre. This first season is such a strong example of why the genre works when it is done well. It has the fantasy setting, the new-world discovery, the overpowered main character, and the fun power progression, but what really makes it stand out is how warm and genuinely enjoyable it is to watch Rimuru grow into his role in this world. From Rimuru’s entrance into this new life, all the way through the first season’s 24 episodes, we get to…

It's certainly puzzling when a 'standard' anime receives high acclaim despite doing nothing to distinguish itself from its competition. And what exactly did Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (TSSDK) do that cannot be found in any other isekai anime to deserve such a high score on MAL? Let's see, it has: • Reincarnation • MC being surrounded by beautiful women with large breasts • MC being surrounded by children • MC being a pervert • Extremely powerful MC • But his power is often underestimated • MC is a hero! • Self-awareness (it's basically a satire) • Medieval fantasy setting • Mini-bosses, so many mini-bosses! • Lots of races to not care about • Lots of random – and laughably weak – kingdoms not to care about And so on… However, if I had been asked to guess the correct anime based on th…

Okay, I have to be honest, for the longest time, I completely skipped over That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime because of the title. A slime? Really? It just sounded a bit too silly for me. But after finally giving in and watching it, I have to admit, I was totally wrong. This show is way more interesting and clever than I ever expected. The premise is simple, a guy gets reincarnated in a fantasy world as the weakest creature imaginable. But instead of being a loser, he turns his weaknesses into strengths. The main character, Rimuru, is just so likeable and decently smart. It's incredibly fun to watch him befriend powerful monsters, build his own nation, and basically become the most OP leader in the world.

I don't get into the politics of minor and major studios or who's competent at adapting novels or not(while all owned by Sony) but I'm disappointed to a great extent. I held off on watching this huge, well praised, popular series for a good while. I've got to say I'm not so happy about that delay as, over time, I've collected many isekais under my belt and developer a much broader tolerance for garbage. I've also experienced a great few isekais that are so far ahead of the rest- it's embarrassing! You'd think either we the viewers or the studios as artists would evolve and improve. With our feedback and raising expectations the studios adapt and strive for great new heights. In reality the consumers accepted trash as the new standard and will worship anything above a PowerPoint slideshow w…

I really enjoyed the story and the overall execution of the anime. The plot is engaging, and the characters are interesting and well-developed. However, I found that using negative names like “Diablo” or “Belzebul” for characters who are actually good can be confusing and might create discomfort for some viewers. I think replacing these names with more neutral or positive terms like “monster” could make the anime more accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience. The frequent use of “demon” for kind characters felt a bit off, although the word “oni” didn’t bother me at all. The character Mirlin (Lorde) had an early scene that focused on her underwear, which seemed a little superficial. As the story progressed, her wardrobe and character portrayal became more appropriate, making her eccen…

I heard and saw great reviews about Slime, so I expected a really good story, so I was surprised when the first 5 episodes were almost tragic and bland in my opinion - the story was weak, the action was almost nonexistent, the humor was always cut off "in the middle of a joke" (and I expected a lot from the comedy side) and the characters were not particularly impressive. Fortunately, and to my surprise, the anime suddenly changed its form significantly after the weak introduction - it started telling a serious story, working better with the characters and coming up with cool ideas, and I gradually got into the series. In my opinion, the comedy side of the series is still unnecessarily thrown away, but from about the seventh episode, the serious fantasy story works great, which I enjoy - s…

Imagine a boring protagonist that does nothing really interasting the entire anime besides giving names to monsters. Thats literally all this anime is about, nothing deep enough to make you care about anything that happens in all 3 seasons and movie, the only thing is that is cool to watch someone in a isekai with rpg like system. Every character side history is complete cliche in every aspect, nothing really new or that really make you care about something happening, and you dont care if they are in a "dangerous" situation, the godlike protagonist will just save the day and was everything for nothing anyway. I really dont get it how people like this so much but i can see people that dont care that much of what is being shown loving this silly cliche history. The protagonist is really bad…

I was reluctant to watch this series for a long time even after starting it i stopped for almost 10 days but after i resumed watching it today and even finished the whole season i can say it wasn't that boring i thought it to be but even after being a 24 ep season ther last ep not showing Rimuru at all and showing past of Shizu made the episode kinda worthless also when its a 24 ep season it should have a conclusion but the season didn't end with an conclusion even though I will be watching the other seasons ig having a conclusion for S1 should have been better.

This show is a light novel that has a very straightforward story and as is advertised from its title lmao; It's a decent time-passer of a show in my opinion but if we're gonna have to be objective and look at it on the lens of how 'impactful' this show was I would have to say it was very generic overall (considering its a fantasy-isekai too). Is it worth the watch? I am not really sure. Its entertaining for what it is but some people may think its a waste of time and that may be valid. Btw this review constitutes all of the seasons it has produced. Animation (5/10) - Honestly, I don't think it was terrible. Very standardized for its time and goes out of its way to surpass its standards every now and then on some important fight scenes or certain scenes that has plot heft. Its coloring is…

I don't care if he stops loving me if I were a worm, as long as he loves me if I were a slime. That being said, I'll keep my opinion short. I've been diving deep into the isekai rabbit hole, and this one was highly recommended. Turns out I loved it so much that I pulled an all nighter and finished all seasons within two days. Not a flex every adult should be proud of but I mean, he turns into a fucking slime and builds an empire. Pacing was pretty good, loved the animation, side characters were phenomenal. Milim has my entire heart, but my absolute favourite character has to be Diablo. My heart is so empty after finishing it all, now I have no purpose in life. Sometimes, I wish I were a slime.

This show has two main parts: The combat + powerup stuff, and the dialogue sequences between characters. I don't think either of those parts work particularly well, although there's a slight upward trend in quality as the seasons go on (this review covers the first 3 seasons). The combat falls into the trap that many other anime fall into, namely that it devolves to characters taunting each other at length and announcing how powerful they are rather than actually clashing. Then, one side will attack and will either do no damage at all, or will instantly win the fight. If no damage was done, the other party will say something like "hahahaha didn't you know I have an everything-proof shield! Now it's my turn to attack!" Sometimes this goes on for several more rounds with each side using ne…

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime completely exceeded my expectations. I gave it a 9/10 because it nails that perfect balance between world building, action, comedy, and feel good storytelling. What starts off as a quirky premise, an average guy reincarnated as a slime, quickly turns into an epic, character driven journey full of charm and depth. Rimuru, our gooey protagonist, is one of the most lovable main characters in the isekai genre. He’s powerful, yes, but it’s his kindness, diplomacy, and desire to build a peaceful society that really make him stand out. Watching him grow from a literal blob into a respected leader who unites monsters, humans, and even demons is both exciting and satisfying. The animation is clean, the cast is diverse and fun, and the pacing keeps you hooke…

This review is only about season 1. Good isekai, maybe a bit boring at the beginning but funny and well paced after that. - Animation is ok, nothing exceptional (dont expect something like jujutsu or kimetsu). There aren't many fights and they are a bit simple. - Chracters are really ok, there are a lot but they are very well introduced into the story. - World building is very good. - TOO MUCH FANSERVICE (believe me, TOO MUCH, but at least only a few characters at some times) RIMURU TEMPEST, amazing mc, only because of him you should watch it. It's not a typical shonen, it's more like Frieren (saving the distances). Next seasons are better, dont drop it.
