It makes me really sad that I cannot recommend this show. The concept is great, the plot is also rather solid in a way you would like to get to know more about the characters and get into this world, but you don't! Or you do but really really slowly, this show really puts accent to all the wrong things, most of the time, seriously like 60 % or more, you are just watching the main character fighting, exping and explaining the upgrades and abilities and that's immensely boring in a way you beg the show all the time to switch the plot lines immediately and show you ANYTHING ELSE. And it is deeply depressing because it has such a massive potential but the outcome is simply bad, it wastes most of it on watching spider fighting monsters in a cave. I understand the fans but this is simply not jus…

I read the manga and was really excited that it was getting animated. The anime has a huge downfall: it keeps focussing on the humans. Who tf cares about the humans???? We read and follow the story to have fun watching MC be a spider and do dungeon things. Nobody cares about the humans in the story. Stop spending so much screen time on them. They are boring and annoying. Kumoko is the the best part of the whole story and she is the only reason we're here!! Idk if the directors didn't have the confidence that Kumoko could carry the series on her own and bailed, but it was the wrong choice. In the manga we never look much at the human characters at all and it's better that way. This weird focus left me wondering why tf were we spending so much time on these people - who even are they?? Give…

I have a complicated relationship with this anime, it is hard for me to recommend this anime because it is objectively bad, and yet the things that are so good about it almost owe nothing to the anime, except the casting of Aoi Yuki
This is my second review of this series, I changed my opinion of many things since my first review but not my score, I knew that I disliked it but it wasn't until I rewatched it with a clear perspective that I was able to properly figure out why I disliked it, whereas last time I incorrectly attributed issues to things I thought were a problem when they actually weren't.
Also when I first watched it shortly after it came out, I didn't know anything about the source material, but now I have a better understanding of its source material which has inspired me to…

This is like a mediocre version of Solo Leveling. There's video game menus, a focus on getting stronger, and a meta-mystery of godlike "administrators" who show up and break the fourth wall. The English dub also features the same VA for the protagonist as Hu Tao from Genshin Impact, so I enjoyed that as a former Hu Tao main.
My main issue with the show is that it doubles down on cringey overreaction comedy and bad fight sequences. The comedic bits are like if someone made a boring parody of Millenial Humor, while the fights devolve into tedious taunt battles and any tension comes to a screeching halt as we hear the protagonist's inner monologue say over and over how much trouble she's in -- no seriously, for REAL this time, pinky promise! -- only for her to eke out another victory shortl…

Upon completion of this anime, i was truly thrown for a loop. I would recommend this as a fantasy/isekai/magic anime for sure. There was a lot of key plot points that added into the suspense and drama surrounding the timeline following throughout the anime. They could definetly progress the anime into something further and left a good amount of information that did not make a full completion by the end of the anime. Towards the halfway point of the anime I was a little confused on the time jumps from back and forth; but, that added a lot more interest for myself when progressing because it wasn’t a straight forward style of timeline as to a lot of the other regular isekai anime’s. Was a very enjoyable anime and would love to see something further adapted, even though i read that the manga…

It isn't the worst anime just because it starts off slow, but it definitely is a bit of a struggle to rate it because of three distinct problems: the humans, the timeline, and the way it was adapted. I am sure it is less confusing in a light novel, as someone who has never read one, but in an anime, the timeline was actually pretty confusing, and I did need to pause and look things up a couple of times for clarity. I also saw that many other anime-only watchers were complaining of the same issue, asking the same questions, and saying things like "thank God for the light-novel readers" and complaining we would be "lost" without them. AND THEY WOULD BE CORRECT! The show does NOT explain the timelines until very late into the show, where you are almost to the end! It was still quite confusing…

This is an awesome anime for the most part. You have a amazing protagonist, who isn't too overly powered to make it repetitive and boring. The artwork is beautifully done but this show lacks in one thing. Every other plot thats going on along with it. After 5 episodes i ended up skipping every section that wasn't about the spider and to be honest, i dont think i could tell you one thing about those characters. Now if you watch it for just the spiders life then its a easy 8/10 maybe even a 9 which is why i have ranked it as a 8 but if you include the other plot, my ranking of this anime drops badly, so if you watch it do what i did and ignore half of the story.

After completing this anime I was just left speechless. At the beginning I thought it would go along the lines of Tensura but I was extremely wrong. First thing that will hit you when you watch this anime is the question of 'when will they meet' I'm not going to lay down any spoilers but this question bugged me for like 12 episode. The way the story basically unravels is in a 2 time narrative. Asin two stories happening at different times are being shown at the same time showcasing different characters. But what kept me going was just wanting to know when and how the fates of these 2 stories would link up in the present which is also the future of the main character.
The downside of this anime is the animation. I believe this was the main blow leading to this anime not getting a season 2…

I like the plot although until she really starts interacting with ppl her side is actually a little boring and tbh monotonous. The scenes with the other reincarnations is fascinating and very well written. The season climax was interesting for sure, there were many things that I'm not sure if I could call plot twists because there was simply too much information missing to draw many conclusions but I was surprised.
My main two critics are:
the lack of a true shock (Even delayed and/or minor) at dying and the loss of the MCs past life (she just kind of told with it without any grief or depression that I would expect and without any explain for why that is)
and
the overuse of CGI and how most of this anime looks more like a video rather than an anime.
So like, 8/10 for plot and o…

A show with great promise, that ended quite honestly in a horrendous manner.
This anime really suffered from a lack of budget and/or the isekai treatment taking a heavy hit to the animation quality in the climax. The better part of the first half was actually really good, the labyrinth arc to be precise. The time spent with the spider MC is the obvious highlight of the series in every way possible after all. They really went through the motion of actually showing her properly learn and evolve after all. The cgi they used during that time wasn't that horrible either(although i simply cannot agree on it's use at all specifically in anime).
But then..... it came. The whole world war arc.... Following characters that i can't possibly be expected to root for even in the least. Like the reinca…

Jeez i am left speechless after finishing this anime lol. It's so weird.
Story:
Going into this i was really expecting it being very similar to "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" but it's so much wierder and actually requires some thinking to try to guess what's going to happen next. It's a very wierd way to make a isekai and it's definitely not like anything else i have seen before. That is to say it's definitely not bad, it's actually very good. And the way they keep throwing plot twists, hints and red herrings at you is really fun and engaging.
The story does have some flaws tho. The whole time skipping thing is really weird and the lack of catching up to the present time is really annoying. And they endless luck the spider has is insane it's kinda stupid. And some things are ju…

very cool and funny anime, but of course there are issues with it, i hate the part were they introduce characters from her class that are reborn, its completely off topic and takes away from the fun with the spider girl, i watched only the parts with the spider and pretty much got all the lore still, but it was a good and funny anime none the less. it was a cool story, i thought it would be bad after looking at the cover, but i said screw it and watched it, its was funny and uniqe, unlike the absurd harem isakai we keep getting.

This show has an interesting hook with the main character, Kumoko, being a human reincarnated as a spider monster in a fantasy world and some unusual ideas but it has too many core issues to be recommended from my perspective.
I'm not calling Kumoko the protagonist as the story is told through multiple characters' perspectives and this leads to some interesting narrative connections and payoffs, which is one of the show's strengths. Another strength is the stark difference between the fantasy RPG lives of the humans embroiled in royal politics and Kumoko's actions vs her own battle-heavy dungeon-crawling RPG life. Kumoko's battles are basically puzzles where RPG systems are used to defeat opponents but it is like Yu-Gi-Oh! where anything can be made up to win so the stakes aren't really b…

Dear Production Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am a passionate fan of “Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?” and I would like to share my sincere thoughts and suggestions regarding the continuation of this wonderful series.
Despite the criticism about the CGI used in the first season, I strongly believe that what truly matters in an anime is the strength of its story, world-building, and character development. Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? stands out with a unique and captivating plot that many fans, including myself, greatly appreciate.
Therefore, I kindly suggest that negative criticism about animation quality should not discourage the team from continuing this project. It’s okay to ignore harsh comments. Instead, please focus on constructive feedback and continue improving what truly matters…

This show was a really weird watch.
I'll start with the pros:
- The story is actually good. It's fun to see some of the end results in the Hero storyline and wonder how you get there from Kumoko's story. The twists are fun and the "system" mechanic is interesting and well thought out. The set-ups toward the end do leave you with more questions than answers, which if they had paced the show correctly, might have seen some tying up.
-The character's are also fairly well done. Everyone has their own personality and goals and, for the most part, aren't just walking tropes. This is excluding the antagonist in the Hero plotline, who is unrealistic in their motivations for being the way they are.
Now for the cons:
- I have no clue how Studio Millepensee is still in business. They seem to b…

Loved the manga and LN... It's one of the best isekai IMO. Good worldbuilding and great twists in the plot and on the genre as a whole.
This is a pretty good adaptation, but I definitely have my complaints. I think the newly added "human half" of the story had really good potential, but suffered heavily from pacing issues and bland characters.
first 12 episodes I liked a lot, but the home stretch of this show is pretty rough. The CGI is pretty good through most of the show, but is barely passable by the end.
Hard to recommend to just anybody, but worth checking out if you're looking for another isekai.

The very definition of an uncut gem. It's hard explain why this is better than it appears without major spoilers, but suffice to say this is a rare isekai story that actually plays with the whole reincarnation thing and game logic as more than just a convenient plot contrivance.
It ostensibly functions as a mystery story while the A and B plots slowly come together.
The reason I describe it as "uncut" is the animation. This was rushed and/or low budget and it shows. The first half or so is well done for the most part, excluding what I would consider excessive use of mediocre CGI.
The final few episodes are where it gets a bit difficult to watch. They appear to have run out of money by episode 18 or so. The last few episodes have the plots finally coming into alignment and should be cli…

A Pleasant Surprise
Like many people who first saw the title, I didn’t expect much from this anime — but I was pleasantly surprised.
The story becomes interesting after a while, so I recommend pushing through the beginning, even if it feels a bit slow. I won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers, but let’s just say there’s more than you’d expect given the genre and how it starts. Most of the characters are flat and rather generic, but some — like the main character, who has an interesting development — are actually quite compelling.
The biggest issue is the technical side: most of the time, the characters are animated using CGI and 3D, but unfortunately not the high-quality kind. And the few times it switches to 2D, the animation and art are very basic and rough.
The anime is a promotiona…

Waste of time.
Timelines are all over the place jumping between years without any notion whatsoever, badly interpreted intermissions.
Huge amounts of stuff missing/changed therefore a lot of story doesn't make sense. I get it makes some things mysterious, but at the very least stick to original story ffs.
Director was probably on drugs.
CGs are of extremely bad quality.
Just read the novels because this is show is literaly shitting on a masterpiece.
Overall not recommended to watch.
Supposedly I need more words for this review to go through, but sadly this show doesn't even deserve more than this.

If you're planning to watch this anime now, be aware that it can be a bit confusing as it contains two parallel storylines—one focusing on the spider protagonist and the other on someone else who was also reincarnated. These different plots tell the story in a mysterious way that really kept me hooked to see where it would all lead. The protagonist and her fun personality are undoubtedly the most entertaining aspects of the anime. However, honestly, that CGI was unbearable—and it seems like everyone here agrees. If you enjoy isekai anime with lots of RPG systems, you'll probably love Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? I'm looking forward to the next season.
For me, it's an 8/10 anime.
