Note: This will be a review of the entire series- the anime, the OVAs and the movie. It will also contain some spoilers for the first arc.
Overview:
If you're one of those people who became a fan of anime in the 2010s like I did, then it's more-or-less a guarantee that you've at least heard of "Sword Art Online", for better or for worse. What you probably haven't heard of, however, is the other series written by the same author, "Accel World". As someone who was never able to get into "Sword Art Online" for various reasons, I found "Accel World" to be a more-than-adequate substitute that does not deserve to be overlooked the way it has been, even if it ultimately does suffer from a few of the same problems as its brother series and never really manages to make the most of its potential.…

Dialog is obnoxious, annoying, especially the last villain of season 1, calling everyone sempai with that irritatingly squeaky voice just didn't make him intimidating at all to me. MC's falling head over heels for the main girl feels like the only reason why his even doing the fights, if she quit he would probably definitely follow her which is just a bore of a motivation for me. The rest of the cast is more normal, but lacks in interest, same as MC, the more fleshed out characters seem to be every other side character, like the girl in the wheelchair and even the bike guy has more depth than the MC, and the amount of times he wants to quit just because he doesn't believe in himself is insane, again bringing back the feeling that his just a downer from beginning to end and lack any or slig…

As a 13 years old, this was ok. But looking back to it now, as an adult, it's average in the worst way possible.
What can I say about it? The characters are boring, they don't have any development and neither one of them have interesting personalities. All of them are one sided and i could describe their personalities with just one trace. The mc himself is pretty annoying. The trama doesn't hold the show, it's not enough to cover his faults. The visuals are actually good and I must give credit for it. Also there's too much fan service and I didn't like it at all, it's totally unnecessary and out of place.
As for the story, there isn't much actually, pretty cliche and predictable. The way the characters reacts to events is kinda exaggerated and it makes hard to take the show serious. I…

This is the shlock Big Anime wants you to like. Insufferable main character that has zero stakes. If you die you have to go touch grass, of course the main can't even cope in the real world with out his Mech Assault x VR Chat fighting game. Only reason this has over a 7.0 is because the fans relate to the main character... they don't want to go outside and are in love with someone hopelessly out of their league.
Memes aside this show is just not very good. Better shows out there. Skip this one.
MAL wants more text so here's a story of an American hero:
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am t…

Failed remake of sword art online. The character is lousy, uninteresting and generally a coward - the opposite of what you would expect in fiction such as this.
My main problem is the main character, the art style and animation here is subjective as it’s neither bad nor amazing but you might like it, just isn’t for me.
This story remains predictable from the beginning to end and some characters are unintentionally over exaggerated.
Also at some points it seemed like the characters weren’t real in the way they reacted to this new reality
Overall I’ve got mixed feelings on this one, not as horrible as some other adaptations but the problem here is mainly with the source material, there are way better alternatives

Accel World have the dynamics between virtual and real world. While in the real world we see our protagonist being completely useless, in the virtual world we see our protagonist being super cool even if the avatar is kinda lame.
We're able to see the journey of Haruyuki developing to become a "normal" human being. In both worlds the interactions between the characters are important to develop our main protagonist.
The animation it's good, the story itself brings nothing new. But above all it's a good show to watch.
The characters in my opinion aren't fully developed, but I don't think it would've matter if they were more developed. The story would keep the same.
In short, Accel World have a good animation with "ok" characters and a common story with regular pace, not too fast, not too…

It has its moments with cool visuals and intense battles. The art and animation are consistent, but there's criticism for Haruyuki's chibi design, which feels forced in emphasizing his low self-esteem, but ig it make sense?
The second half of the series i particularly disliked it for illogical character actions, poorly thought-out plots, and frustrating developments you can find certain elements of the plot challenging to digest, impacting the overall enjoyment. While it has its positives like exciting fights and likable side characters, the overall experience for this anime is...
It might be good and enjoyable... But totally not for all viewers:/

I don't know how is it possible that the same writer did Accel World and Sword art Online, because this is one of the best shows i've ever seen. The Story and world building are very good the presetation and pacing are just the way it's supose to be.
The characters are not the deepest you will see, but they are unique and fun in their own way. The MC is the most unique in the show, as he is not the same as every action/videogame anime ever. He feels very original, you will know what i'm talking about.
10/10.

overall the story is great if you r to lazy to read the synopsis here it is.
in the 2040s technology has developed rapidly. all humans are addicted to electronic devices. Transfer money using a tool called Neuro-Linker, if you don't know, it is a much more sophisticated version of the tool from the Sword Art Online anime. When a fat pig, a midget, a naïve, stupid midget (sorry, I really don't like and am annoyed with the MC) is tired of his life because he is often bullied and becomes the laughing stock of his life, he meets the most beautiful girl in school. The girl gave a VR.MMORPG application called Brain Burst (a game similar to SaO where players are free to move their avatars with mind control and can feel physical touch such as warm pain, etc.
the reason why I hate the MC for exam…

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to an anime that's about as exciting as a Sunday drive in a 1998 Toyota Corolla. Yes, I'm talking about Accel World, an anime that tries to combine virtual reality with high school drama but ends up falling flat on both counts.
The story of Accel World revolves around a young boy named Haruyuki, who is introduced to a virtual reality game called Brain Burst that allows him to accelerate his perception of time. He soon finds himself embroiled in a world of virtual combat and political intrigue, all while trying to navigate the usual high school tropes of crushes and bullies.
Now, the concept of a virtual reality game might sound intriguing, but Accel World fails…

So.. from the writer of Sword Art Online, how is this show overall? Let's find out.
My friend was really obsessed with Haru so I thought, why not I'll give this show a watch. She did warn me about some scenes and I can clearly see why she did, since it has some fan service scenes. Hoo boy, idk what I expected but it definitely wasn't that.. those scenes can take you out of the show at times.
It's hard to recommend it because of that, but if you can get pass it.. the show is actually pretty enjoyable. The virtual world is pretty interesting and I wasn't quite sure how it would end, also wasn't expecting the same VA of Satoru (from Erased) to be in here so that's neat :P

It's my 200th review so celebrate. The anime is not bad, it's like sao but without having to die in real life. Or much less risky. The anime only has 24 chapters and there is no ending. Well the animation is not bad but it is not the best there is either, the soundtrack is quite good. The characters are good but at the same time I don't like them because the protagonist doesn't stop crying and I feel that it is very difficult for him to give the progress that he needs, just at the end of the series it's like he accepts how he is and all that. But I also feel that he does not take advantage of the relationship he has with his senpai, that is, the main character is a machine, piece of waifu. It's like in life how lucky some people are. If you like anime based on games I recommend it or else…

A fat midget main character with the trauma to become what? A tall slim guy?
Ok probably but what was that character design, meh... The other characters are kind of good but really everyone interested in that main character? What kind of anime is this, its probably made to make the fat short guys feel better about themselves being good at something in real life? But really a fat midget main character with meh kind of personality.
Yeah my first disliking about something like the main character design. The story is kind of ok but what happened after episode 13? All plot went to B grade lol. MC winning battles with friendship, past memories, love and imagination haha talk about stupid plot and character growth.
I mean I finally understand where SAO: Alicization - War of Underworld 2nd Sea…

ACCEL WORLD
Synopsis:
In 2046, the world is heavily integrated with its new form of internet which incorporates Augmented Reality and also allows users to log into the online world by transferring their consciousness to the online realm. And everyone connects themselves to this futuristic form of internet through some sort of neck device.
The story follows an unnaturally short and obese protagonist named Arita who is also socially anxious thanks to being bullied for almost his entire life. His life changes for the “better” when he meets his senior in high school, Kuroyukihime, who invites him to an MMO called Brain Burst. A game where aspirations become reality.
Plot: 5/10
While the concept is stunning and its execution is alright, the plot falls flat after the novelty of the concept wea…

1) Story
the main character Haruyuki Arita is an overweight, bullied middle schooler who finds solace in playing online games. But his life takes a drastic turn one day, when he finds that all his high scores have been topped by Kuroyukihime, the popular vice president of the student council. Kuroyukihime explains her problem to Haruyuki, before which she then explains to him the origin of Brain Burst. Brain Burst was anonymously created seven years before the current time which allows acceleration only to those who were born with the Neurolinker. Therefore, all Burst Linkers are children age 15 and younger, allowing its existence to be concealed from the public. Kuroyukihime then explains to Haruyuki that she wants to meet the creator to learn the purpose of the program, and why it was cr…

Accel world is an interesting anime, with a new twist on the cliche enter a new world. One of the reasons I liked the anime and gave it an overall of 7 score is because of the characters, the characters give a light hearted feel to the anime, making it very easy to watch. I didn't enjoy all of the wasted episodes, and I did enjoy a few of the fight scenes, I didn't pay much attention to the animation but the way they fought was enjoyable. The love story was weird and cliche. The love story is so boring it kind of brought up the rest of the anime.

I think this anime was one of the best works of Reki Kawahara. At first it seems pretty annoying because of the character of the main character and i think it's one of the reason why it's kinda underrated. But as one continues to dive to the story, you will realize how the character development strives, I, personally think it's one of the best and unique traits.
I don't really like anime's with mecha look-alike but somehow I learned to love it, especially if you're a fan of the author or even the Sword Art Online, I heard that this is one related to the sao world and if you are actually looking for clues you will somehow get some details.
So if you're one likes to watch an anime without sudden power up or plot armor. I definitely recommend this. I LOVE THIS!

Story: This animes storyline kinda reminds me of Sword Art Online minus the whole being forced into the VR world. I liked this story following Haru who is the main character and his quest to try and conquer the six main areas with the help of his guardian the black king.
Characters: Haru himself I'm not a big fan of because he isn't like your average anime character he is basically a loser and gets bullied, but however through the anime he slowly starts to break that shell and change his whole identity from being a loser.
Art: The art style itself is basically just like any slice of life anime, however when it comes to the fight scenes then the animation really starts to get good and redeems the anime from the basic slice of life animations.

Accel World was never going to be groundbreaking: It is as much a generic otaku power fantasy as you would expect given that it centers around gaming as very serious business - with all of the well worn tropes in tow. I should at least give the anime credit for making a good first impression, though. It's opening story arc successfully introduces the premise while making efficient use of its small cast of characters. Particularly, the innuendo-laden, one sided teasing between the lead pair is fun (although I never could fully buy the in-universe justification for their budding romantic relationship).
However, after the climax of that first arc, the series establishes its status quo, and the main cast become much less interesting for the rest of the series. Any character development past t…

When I started watching this anime I had completely forgotten why I had chosen it in the first place. But reading the summary of the series, I decided that my choice had to be explained by the idea of a virtual world (I have an interest in the idea of virtual worlds ever since I was a kid).
In Accel World the virtual world has layers; it reminds me somehow of a matryoshka doll system: we have Burst Link (a fighting game) of course, which is accessible only with a special invitation and which also proves to be much more than just a game, but before Burst Link there is this virtual space (cyber space) where anyone can connect through a gadget (neuro linker). It’s kind of an evolved internet, only that it’s more like a virtual reality.
A competition with a mysterious price, which engages al…
