Gatchaman Crowds

Gatchaman Crowds

Introduction

Hajime Ichinose's ordinary life is in for a change when a transcendent being named J.J Robinson hands her a small book called NOTE—a device which transforms her into one of the Gatchaman, the legendary protectors of Tachikawa City. Stressing that the existence of their group must remain a secret, fellow Gatchaman Sugane Tachibana takes Hajime to their base of operations, where Paiman, the panda-like alien leader of the Gatchaman, reveals their purpose: to eliminate aliens that pose a danger to humanity. These existential threats, called MESS, are becoming increasingly dangerous, destroying everything they touch. Now it is up to the Gatchaman and their new recruit to stop them before the world is engulfed in chaos. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Gatchaman Crowds by all means should have belonged in the dumpster. It's bland, both visually and narratively. Most of its characters are as entertaining as drying paint. And the worst crime of all, it's filled with unfulfilled potential. The ingredients were there, Crowds just couldn't cook. But the one saving grace, Christ the redeemer of Crowds, is Hajime Ichinose. Btw, do be warned: this isn't a Gatchaman Crowds review, it's a review about how Hajime Ichinose and her consequences have been a blessing to the human race. I think the core idea and message of Gatchaman Crowds is that things can be better. Never fall into inertia. Believe the world can be better and make it better yourself. Hajime was meant to be the embodiment of that. For example, in anime it's far too often to see cha…

I will never again watch an anime just because I see it on top ten lists. This was absolute garbage. I can kind of understand why so many may have liked this when it first aired, it has a knack for trying to con the audience into believing that it’s deep and is also trying to say something. But it really isn’t. It’s exposition heavy in parts in such an unnatural way that it made me cringe, at just how bad the conversation between the characters giving the exposition was. To be fair though, all the dialogue in this anime is a mess. Nobody ever actually says anything, when the ‘deep’ moments with Hajime are happening she never actually says anything, she giggles her way through some vague cutesy talk and then says ‘Your fine the way you are’ like that’s meant to be some kind of nirvana…

Like a lot of shows I've watched recently, I've tried to watch this before. The first attempt is a boring story, years ago I got a few episodes in, got distracted by something else, and never finished it. The second time, I got half an episode in and turned it off because I found the show's protagonist, Hajime, incredibly irritating and grating. Little did I know, the next time I tried to watch it, it would just click with me. As a tokusatsu fan, there's obviously a lot that attracted me to 'Gatchaman Crowds'; an anime version of a genre I love anyway was always going to be up my alley. From that perspective, it's fantastic; the suit designs are phenomenal, the action is great and the 3DCG animation for the transformed Gatchaman managed to feel well-integrated and had a good weight to it,…

A superhero show where the people are just as able as the heroes. Color me impressed. Gatchaman Crowds is a hero show filled with style, 3D animation, birds, urban mythology, social criticism, and rock-on music. The powerup song could even be played whenever your Genshin Impact friends are around. Not much of a Marvel/DC or whatever guy but hero movies and shows are reliably entertaining despite their relative overabundance this time and age. So, i was not really sure what to expect when I chose this series to binge on. I grew up with minimum knowledge of the original Gatchaman show, only that it has a great theme song that I would occasionally whistle to subconsciously, that there are dudes in spandex and duck capes, and there's a pretty girl in short skirts who gives pantyshots like i…

There's more than meets the eye. In the raging around warfare of dreams, this anime is a powerful weapon. A weapon I would love everyone to wield. It portrays a model of an enlightened person whose level of awareness is well beyond normal, which allows her to live her game of life in full harmony with her being and help those around progress in their personal quests. It doesn't bore the viewer with excessive introspection, but leads by example, carefully constructing delicate situations, bringing to attention important considerations and showing a conscious resolution. It also raises timely questions about our future as a species. How do we wish to overcome our planetary crisis of consciousness? A whirl of ideas presents itself. And all that wrapped in a beautiful engaging play of col…

Gatchaman Crowds was an odd gem for me. There are so many aspects of this series that I shouldn't like, the mech-design, the predictable story, the theme of "heroes" and so on... Yet I immediately fell in love with the series and the reason was so obviously clear. The main character Hajime is absolutely fantastic - an upbeat energy, unbridled optimism and honesty, and still intelligently navigates the world. Gatchaman Crowds starts with Hajime's introduction to a team of superpowered heroes that protect the earth from alien threars. The narrative drive of the story is partly driven forward by Hajime's bull-headed optimism that doesn't accept the conventions or taboos established by her team, and in the flux of her wake the team has to adapt to how their team is changing due to Hajime. T…

In its hurry to do everything differently, it does almost nothing well. Gatchaman Crowds is a horribly jumbled show. It's a Sentai, but also chooses to dismiss the concept of them. It praises human society in one scene then demonizes it the next. When it's all over, nothing really remains as a theme or meaning. For what it's worth, the first two or so episodes were fairly good, and despite the steep decline in quality as it went on, it was always at least watchable. But after an incredibly underwhelming finale, and the pointlessness I mentioned above, Gatchaman Crowds is going to remain a very annoying series to me for quite a while. ---- The story, as set up initially, is a regular Sentai plot. Bizarrely though, the opponents, the MESS, are retired almost immediately. Their non-threat…

What a confused muddle of rubbish. The story telling is like reading William S. Burroughs, after he had been hit in the head enough to drop his IQ to 20. We are talking about stuff here so bad that it makes power rangers look like high art. Hajime the main character is a Mary Sue, beyond all Mary Sues. The only saving grace about her is they let you know just how bad she is going to be right from the very beginning. Hey guys been protecting the world all this time, She just got there and guess what everything you have been doing is absolutely useless. Her scenes are exercises in applied plot armor, top that off with the fact that her voice acting (eng dub) is like having nails hammered into your ears. The story goes from no place to nowhere, it's pretty much Hajime knocking over straw m…

I have a really ton of things that I could metion for explain how great this anime is. I, actually, came to know about this show because of the main theme that I heared on SoundCloud and I LOVED IT! And I reconized that was a work of Taku Iwasaki, one of my favorites composer, what make me even more interest on that show. What made me so in love on the beginning was the main character, Hajime, who was the type of character that I most like: A weird, smiling, a little airhead but no a stupid character full of charisma. Of course, the others characters was also well writen and building: Sugane, a serious, conservative and stickler student, who becomes more flexible when Hajime show him that kind of behavior isn't always the best; Jou-san, a quiet and cool government employee, and also one of…

So, Gatchaman Crowds. It's teetering on the edge of being great, but a few things drag it down. To wit: STORY - Super hyper gal Hajime becomes the newest member of Earth's (or, at least, this Japanese town's) defenders: GATCHAMAN! She very quickly turns the status quo amongst the Gatchamen(?) on its head. Meanwhile, a strange alien named Berg-Katze begins to terrorize the town. Meanwhilewhile, Rui, the crossdressing creator of the GALAX network begins his issuing of the CROWDS system. This all converges (eventually). It feels rather... odd? The initial conflict (Gatcha vs the aliens called MESS) is quickly sidelined for... nothing in the middle, and then Katze and his groupies in the last portion. The character of Rui is almost more of a protagonist than Hajime at points. Rather, much…

This is my first review on this site, so i apologize for any english/grammatical errors. Well, i can't explain how much i enjoyed this Gatchaman series (to the point that makes to write this review) I've loved the social criticals about our world needing heros or not. I think the shock of idealisms between Rui and the Gatchaman crew, if people should just relies on heros instead of changing their own world by themselves is amazing and one of my favorite things about this show. Also the villain Katze-Berg is something amazing too, the autor made him, a example the most dark sides of a human (because yeah, this kind of person exist in the real world) Btw Story(9): The story is very well written, but i wish we had something more about the Gatchaman's origins, OD, JJ and Katze origins a…

In a world where we're all becoming more and more connected, the darkness of the world and our own dark underbellies exposed more and more for the world to see. Is there truly a place for heroes? Can anyone truly be a hero? Along comes this colorful, true blue superhero show to bat those questions aside with a smile and an "of course, silly!~" It has been a good long while since I've seen a superhero show, especially a superhero anime that has embraced the genre's built in optimism and positivity the way CROWDS has. The main character tailor made to infect the show like a reverse cancer, cleaning away any darkness or doubt that you may have about heroism. This show is a stirring rebuilding of not only heroism but also that tiny spark of altruism we all have buried inside us, taking eac…

I went into Gatchaman CROWDS with the highest hopes of it being a remarkable, enjoyable show, and to be a big deal to the anime industry. And I ended looking like I forgot my wallet at Chucky E' Cheese. Where an Adult could remember he is too old to be doing this shit. This Anime is what I call a disappointment. It didn't meet up with the qualities that I was anticipating or even surprise me in a exciting way, it left me with a frown and think, "Do they know how the real world actually works?" I'm not going to say I'm exaggerating when I'm comparing this like it's reality, it mostly runs like that, so I'm excused now and I can do whatever I want with this review. This review describes the Plot, Art, Characters, and the Sound. Plot: When I started watching this, I see this girl named Haij…

I thought this season was a very enjoyable watch, defenitely compared to the second season. The story was well thought out, there weren't any real plottwists. But the plot was good enough as to not drag the show down. It was servicable, but nothing spectacular. Then again the show's art was purely sublime in my opinion. From the colorfull and happy feel of the characters and the world, to the badass looking Gatchaman suits and fighting scenes. The soundtrack was fine, nothing really stood out for me while watching the show. But after having a listen to the OST afterwards it was pretty good. Now the chracters are the absolute best part of this anime. Although they use quiet some chracter trope stereotypes, they use them quiet well and then you have Hajime. She is just absolutely amazi…

I'll try to be as short as possible, because this show has a lot of stuff i had something to say, good or bad. Let's start clarifying one small but important detail: this show is a reboot from the Gatchaman franchise, a mythical anime classic most modern fans, including me, haven't seen. Despite that, i don't recomend this reimagination to the classic Gatchaman's fans to check it out. Kenji Nakamura, the director, used the reboot as an opportunity to share his opinions about social media and the current japanese situation. I won't lie, the idea and his development on the show is really interesting, and i don't mind it offers a more positive point of view about how technology influence our lives, a subject is usually portrayed in a more grimdark and pessimistic way, about how dangerous…

[ Cross-Posted on Hummingbird and Anime Amino] The story of Gatchaman Crowds is in interesting one. The story includes many references to the original Gatchaman series including the main villain Berg Katse. The main characters are superheroes, or rather, world protectors that protect ordinary humans against aliens causing harm (or when there is any help that ordinary citizens need). While the Gatchaman are invisibly protecting (for the most part) and helping citizens, a person by the name of Rui wishes to change the world thru a social network called Galax where people can help each other without having to rely on people like the Gatchaman. Berg Katse, an alien, gives Rui the power of Crowds to help her "update the world" for a while until Berg takes over. There are two kinds of anima…

Gatchaman Crowds is a show that tackles the boundary between anarchy and freedom of people through a superhero theme. The show plays with "great power comes great responsibility" theme. The show tackles the theme with average people obtaining supernatural powers, being able to remotely commit crimes or assist people in need. The real conflict begins once large number of people, who are willing to abuse this power, obtains it. This reveals the nature of anonymity and the people's behaviour. Bergkatse is a representation of malice within internet community, being hostile and negative, impersonating others, while actively destroying other people's livelihood for entertainment. The concept itself was fine, but representation of these idea through superheroes seemed weak, as their role seem…

Bird Go! Gatchman crowds is basically a re-imagination of an older TV series known by a similar name: Gatchaman. This show tells the story of a group of heroes united under one goal: Stopping all evil. Pretty simple right. Taking the more light-hearted shounen like path in story telling; the plot unfolds from the perspective of our main heroine Ichinose Hajime, a fun and quirky character who has just become a gatchaman, one of the legendary and supposedly mythical heroes who protects the world. However as her own character conflicts with the normal identity of secrecy that is being a gatchaman, she soon reveals to the world the truth that has been kept secret for so long, the existence of gatchaman. And it is with this that our story and hers begins. Characters: 7 Character Development: 6…

This review contains minor spoilers for the first few episodes. Before I further begin, I feel I should mention that Gatchaman Crowds, while an amazing anime, is not an amazing anime for any reason that one would normally expect an anime to be amazing. The art and sound and dialogue vary between being interestingly distinct and being so utterly bizarre that the idea of quality doesn't even seem like it applies to them. After some amount of time watching it, you either acclimate yourself to it or block those parts out. I think a large amount of whether you enjoy the show or not depends on how fast that happens. The other part is whether you're approaching it expecting a regular anime. (The term "regular anime" itself can't really be said to mean anything, but I need some term with which to…

I got into Gatchaman Crowds blindly, having little to no knowledge about anything besides the main character's design (:>) and flashy colors the show seems to deliver, and stayed not only because of that, literally everything else made me have a real good time in just 12 episodes plus a director's cut. It is sold as a generic superheroes anime where you expect something but ultimately get something else in a good way because of how the script makes some twists here and there so the focus varies and it'll never feels repetitive. The art-style and the animation are, as I've already mentioned, flashy and colorful, with lots of details put into the characters, their clothing and their expressions. It also features lots of CGI to represent the main cast transformations, which is pretty well d…
