….. Absolutely speechless!! After watching just shy of 400 eps of greatness you would think the best of gintama has already gone by but even still this final movie is the greatest anime movie I have watched - gintama has been so incredible and been a genuinely great experience - the actual show took my first spot for top anime spot but the movie also took the top spot for my fav anime movie - going from the plot to the animation it’s absolutely jaw droppingly gorgeous - I have never shed tears like I did during this movie other than obviously sad tearjerker stuff but this movie was gut wrenching for me - being so invested and absolutely every character the boat scene and the ending of gintama was just unbelievably beautiful and left me stunned for a while after - never again will I experia…

9th August 2025, I finally finished Gintama. It was a good five years run for me as i started it during the covid. I was practically devouring it but when I completed the first 100 eps I got scared of the ending and how I won't be able to see it for the first time ever again. After that thought I started to watch frugally and took big breaks between eps and seasons heck i rewatched the first 200 eps again before watching Gintama in HD. Now after all this time I finally took courage to end it (main reason being the release of the new series Ginpachi-sensei two months from now) . Its crazy to think I started it back during my high school days now I am in University. Gintama carried me through a very important period of my life. There were many depressing days and lonely days but when I watch…

This movie is by no mean anything short of a perfect ending to Gintama. I have spent all of those years since the last Gintama's season not wanting to watch it since I didn't want it to end no matter what. But after watching it it was everything I want it to be.
The music was awesome, story and comedy was on point. I spent 4 hours to watch a movie that last less than 2 because I constantly stop to laugh, to bawl my eyes out, to re watch some scene, check for easter egg, etc. It was the only movie/series where I actually feel good about its open ending. No doubt my most beloved movie from here on out.
Honestly, never in a millions years would I have guess that I will ever find an anime movie that beat my previous favorite Kotonoha but here I am.

This Gintama ending made me emotional. The show peaked for me in the final serious arcs, and I enjoyed every character interaction and gag on-screen.
There is something about Gin verbally confirming that he needs Shinpachi and Kagura, and the other bonds in his life to go on which kills me. Humans are social creatures, and witnessing the family that he has built around himself creates for tear-jerking moments.
I think Gintama can teach us all about the significance of having family-like friends in our lives. In this short ride on Earth, everyone deserves to experience and reciprocate the kind of love that Gin is blessed with.

OMFG! Gintama: The Final is an absolute blast and a perfect farewell to one of the best anime series ever! I just watched it, and I can’t stop smiling, laughing, and maybe even tearing up a bit. This movie is everything fans could hope for and more!
First off, the humor in this film is off the charts! If you've loved the crazy antics and witty jokes that Gintama is known for, you're in for a treat. The movie is packed with hilarious moments that had me rolling with laughter. Whether it’s Gintoki's snarky comebacks or the crew’s ridiculous shenanigans, the comedy is spot-on and never fails to deliver.
But don’t be fooled. Gintama: The Final isn’t just about laughs. The emotional depth in this movie is incredible. It hits you right in the feels, especially when it delves into the character…

A subjective piece of media. If you're a heartless person and have somehow not connected with any of the characters, and dislike "overly melodramatic" arcs, this isn't for you.
But if you've been following Gintama, have a taste for the more serious arcs, and is looking for a resolution to the silver soul arc, then by all means, I can't recommend this movie enough.
The animation? I thought it improved drastically in the slip arc, but the movie is an even greater upgrade.
Voice acting - have you watched Gintama? 10/10 as usual.
The sound design and music - 10/10.
The sound design, animation, dialogue and music will make your heart go out to characters you never even felt a connection to.
Even though Gintama isn't just about the ending, it's about the whole journey, the movie could not h…

The finishing of Gintama. Many episodes and many different story arcs ended with this.
To be fair the actual ending is with Silver Soul Arc. I did not find much point to this movie. Silver Soul should have been the end.
But I am glad this exists. As someone who watched Gintama for the comedy, silver soul barely had any comedy. This one had a lot of nice comedy.
The Final is about what happens after the silver soul arc. There is some more battle with Gintamas original teacher, Shoyo, who got resurrected and had to undergo a lot of transitions and inner monologue by himself.
Gintama and the other pupils of the Shoyo class fought against him.
There was some amazing comedy, with people trying to decide the ending to Gintama.
The semi-final led up to this but was not necessary to watch.…

This is by far my number one favorite anime of all time.
It has o much entertainment for all viewers with its comedy, action, and references to other anime.
And with this movie specifically, I would have to say that this is the perfect ending for a series as insanely fun as Gintama. There is nothing I would change.
The only negative I can say with the series is that the first 20-30 episodes can be a bit slow at times. But you will not regret going through this series. If anything, just look up the toilet paper scene and you will understand everything you need in order to enjoy this series.
So please give it a watch, and if you have, we’ll watch it again.

Gintama goes above and beyond in so many ways that it's difficult to convey, let's get out of the way the obvious because i'm not an expert of the animation front, if something looks pretty and fluid i call it good animation and if the songs are cool, i call the bangers, Gintama The Final has nice visuals and a lot of bangers but the juice of Gintama isn't there, the series is about characters and themes and i want to take a semi deep dive into them from the first chapter to this movie.
We can separate Gintama into two big portions that everyone knows at this point, the comedic episodes and the story arcs when Takasugi makes it's usual moves and wants to destroy the world, keep that line in mind because i think it's really important the meaning of what appears as an edgy one liner that t…

This movie.... just broke me.
What a finale! After so many trolls and pranks, I so wish it had been one too. The OSTs are just indescribable. Does and Spyrair on sound!!!? It's an attempted murder at this level.
I'm trying to be objective but I still can't conceive it. Everything is a 10/10. The synopsies, the comedy, the drama, the direction and the conclusion...just absolutely everything.
Gintama has been building all along its +360 episode and today it's coming back like a boomerang and it hurts like hell. I got so attached to these characters and their universe, that seeing their conclusion leaves me with a huge feeling of emptiness. I would love to erase it from my memory so I can start over.
HUGE BIG UP to the guy in charge of the art direction of the ending. I've almost never fe…

Gintama The Final
This review comes from the fingers of a Gintama fanboy. The content is 100% serious, biologically grown, and may be passed on to your neighbors at dinner.
Gintama is a show that really can't win everyone over. It is known for its blunt, dirty, and bizarre humor and its perfectly twisted characters. If you have no prejudices against such a show and want to give this humor a chance, you will get your money's worth here. I can hardly put into words how often we had a laughter attack while watching this show, this memory will stay with me forever.
My biggest concern has always been Gintama's well-known "Serious Arcs", I found them to be a pleasant diversion, but nothing worth mentioning. Their pacing was slow, the story behind them only small, there was a lot of talk no j…

This is a really good show. I am really happy and sad too because the show just ended.
I don't want to end the show, I feel kind of sad and happy too.
There are not a lot of fillers, which makes it even better. The story is really good. I like the arcs. There are funny arcs and sad/action arcs. They balance the comedy and the action.
and the characters are really good. I like how Shinpachi ruins a joke when Gintoki makes a joke and ruins it, and the other characters are funny with different personalities. I really like it.
The sound is really good. The op and ed are that fire is good.

It's hard to believe that the original anime started over 15 years ago and was finally coming to an end. Gintama was so incredibly unique with it's very meta comedy, characters and setting. What made it an amazing series was how good it was at doing comedy stories and serious stories while blending both together.
Gintama the final adapts the final arc of the manga and puts it into a movie format. It has all the qualities that make Gintama great and gives the fans a satisfying conclusion to the story. However, the movie does end up feeling more like a half season anime show than a movie. It would've been nice if they went a bit more out in terms of animation quality.
Overall, It's nice to have a completed series that stuck the landing. There will probably never be a series like Gintama an…

Finally done with watching Gintama. 367 episodes, 5 movies and at least 10 special episodes. This is definitely the longest anime series I have ever watched through my 342 entries. And this movie definitely was an ending.
The way it evolved, the only thing I'll remember about Gintama is that I used to watch it. The movie would have been insulting if it came out before the Silver Soul Arc but, the thing is it came after.
My expectations were mostly met, which is something despite having no expectations. The final fight against Utsuro was ungodly pretentious. When Sorachi first came up with the whole faking events to trap the viewer, I was looking forward to where it would go, but now it's safe to say I don't want to see this storytelling device used anymore.
The ending was fine, and the…

Gintama is one of Myanimelist's highest rated works to date. Through its multiple seasons, Gintama will have made us go through all emotions... sadness, anger, frustration.... But also joy, good mood, warmth... These 367 episodes will have been an inspiration, a lesson in life. What better way to conclude than to compress all these feelings that represented the soul of Gintama in this last film? I think today, after having seen the final film, that this ending has perfectly fulfilled its role... An ending that will forever remain as one of the most beautiful of all.
As far as the film is concerned, everything is perfect in my opinion...
Some might reproach the "comical" ending, but let's not forget that we are still in a parody anime.
The characters, the music, the art direction as wel…

What can I say?
I had high expectations for this movie but my goodness its exceeded all of it by a mile
It has everything. Brilliant comedy, jaw dropping action scenes, sad moments, and moments in general that will send shivers down the spine of any gintama fan.
Although the stakes may not be as monumental as the one in the beginning of the silver soul, that doesn't mean that the movie disappoints. It is the perfect way to end an anime like Gintama.
its very hard to describe adequately with words what I was feeling during the movie, so I'll leave it at that. But it is so apparent that the movie was made with heart and soul by people who loved the anime as much as the fans did. The minor yet beautiful details, the fights (I won't spoil), the comedy, and the insane amount of homage to th…

This is a review of the entire series not just "Gintama: The Final"
I only started to watch Gintama in November of 2021, While the series concluded in January of 2021. I haven't been a fan for a while but this series is seriously phenomenal.
STORY
Gintama doesn't really have a story since it is episodic, but there are arcs put within the series, most of them are very entertaining and funny. But the last 70 episodes I consider to be a story so I'll talk about them. The last 70 episodes are in my opinion, the best part of the series . Not going into spoliers but, I love the character interactions and the fights are the best series it can get pretty sad at some points as well. Overall I'd say 10/10 on the story.
ART
The art for the first 200ish episodes was pretty weak. I wouldn't say it…

I came for the comedy and stayed for the story.
Though I still stayed for the comedy, of course.
Gintama was both heartbreaking and captivating, wholesome and evil, funny and gloomy, cunning and simple. And this ending was the best for a comedy anime-- an appropriate one, if I may say so, since it leaves you quite satisfied with how things were wrapped up yet you also feel this pang in your chest as you realize that this is it; this is how it ends and we're not getting any more content after this. That pang, if I liken it to an emotion, may seem like homesickness for me. Gintama gives you that homey vibe that you feel whenever you watch an anime and stayed with it too much that you kinda wanna break the wall from 3D and come join them in their 2D world. Gintama's characters, from the m…

An amazing way to end an amazing series, I'm tearing up after seeing the end of this franchise I love dearly. Gintama stays true to itself to the very end, and this movie feels like a celebration of the series as a whole. I really liked the soundtrack which incorporates some of the series' classic songs in great ways, I even got emotional when DOES started playing. The movie feels well paced to me, I especially liked how they took their time with the epilogue. This movie's quality is consistent with the quality I've come to expect from the series, just with better production quality and pacing due to it being a movie, making it feel like another episode of the show. But if you've seen all the episodes, you'd be foolish to not watch the final of this irreplaceable series. I just wanted to g…

Gintama translates roughly to silver soul, and I can say my soul now has a touch of silver residing within it. This, like many before me, is a review of Gintama as a series, which I lovingly write here after finishing the final movie.
Except, I couldn't review this series if I tried to. There are plenty of people out there way smarter than me who have broken down this show in every way they can. So, I instead would like to offer up to you all what this show has done for me over the last year I've spent watching it.
Life sucks, and for a lot of us we watch anime, read books, and play games as a way of escaping. Gintama taught me how much smiling can shine a light in the darkness of my life. These last couple of years have been really tough on us all, but watching this show made me forget…
