The absolute pinnacle of anime and easily the best season of gintama and the best stretches of arcs I have ever witnessed - genuinely going from the shogun assassination arc to the farewell shinsengumi arc it is genuinely impossible to figure out which one I enjoyed more - it was an out of body experience - the pay off between takasugi and gintoki - the absolute raw emotions in each part going from one moment laughing to the next being so deep into the high stakes atmosphere- getting goosebumps just typing out and remembering how great of a time I had watching this season - every other time I reminisce I end up swapping which arc I prefer - godly experience through and through

Another season of completely broken humor…and that's exactly why it works so well.
'Gintama' continues to do what the series does best: mix the absurd with the brilliant. After more intense moments in other seasons, here the series takes a breather and returns in full force to its most chaotic, outrageous, and unpredictable side.
This season adapts arcs such as the Ghost Ryokan, the Baragaki/Spy Arc, and the Otsu Terakado idol arc. Overall, these are "lighter" stories in terms of impact on the main narrative, but they work perfectly within Gintama's premise: to entertain without limits. The focus here is clearly humor, and humor without any filter whatsoever.
And when I say unfiltered, I mean really unfiltered.
It has everything: silly jokes, intelligent jokes, parodies, breaking the f…

The most important season of Gintama.
This has undoubtedly been the most important season of Gintama due to the two best arcs of the anime so far. These arcs are the famous 'Shogun Assassination' and 'Farewell Shinsengumi'. They are important because until now Gintama had handled its serious arcs within a margin that did not affect the series in the long term and kept the relationships of the characters intact. These two arcs introduce important events such as the confrontation between Takasugi and Gintoki, the brief clash between Kamui and Kagura, and a significant event that will impact the anime in the following arc. Now in the Shinsengumi arc, we have things like Utsuro's revelation, Nobume's past, and Isaburo's. In addition to these two arcs, there is also the Reaper arc, which gives…

I want anyone reading this who is old enough to remember, to think back between the years online from 2006-2015. From a time of Mudkips, rage comics, MLP, 009 Sound System, leek spinning, Sparta remixes, Unregistered Hypercam, etc. A time where 4chan, Youtube, 9gag, and Memecenter shaped the online cultural zeitgeist for those short years, yet being into anime and video games labeled you as a pariah. While I dearly miss that age which came and went I am not here to get nostalgic about simpler times when anime was much less popularized. I am here to say that is precisely what Gintama reminds me of. It is simply so rooted in this “golden era” of online culture it's impossible to ignore.
This year, I was fortunate enough to finally make time to watch a show that I’ve been curious about for o…

Title: Gintama: The Ultimate Anime That Redefines Shonen and Comedy
Score: 10/10
Review:
Gintama is a masterpiece that deserves its place at the pinnacle of anime. Created by Hideaki Sorachi, this series (and its multiple seasons, OVAs, and films) is a genre-defying rollercoaster that blends gut-busting comedy, heart-pounding action, and tear-jerking drama in a way no other anime can match. After watching all 367 episodes, Gintama: The Final movie, and revisiting arcs like Benizakura and Silver Soul, I can confidently say this is the most rewatchable, versatile, and emotionally resonant anime I’ve ever experienced.Story (9/10): Gintama’s premise—an alternate Edo Japan invaded by aliens, centered on the slacker samurai Gintoki Sakata and his odd-jobs crew—is deceptively simple. The series s…

Absolutely amazing season and the perfect mix of comedy and arcs. Boy those last two arcs were incredible and you could really feel the stakes were at their highest. The story really picks up around here, and to me, the pacing is perfect. Plot twists were unexpected and every episode left you craving for more!
Both the shogun and the farewell shinsengumi arc were so well done that choosing which is the best between the two is incredibly hard, and the chef's kiss fight choreography just makes the episodes way more enjoyable.
Not only the story improved, but the animation and art is continuously improving so far. Really enjoyable to look at.
After 300 episodes, you can REALLY connect with the characters. What i like about this anime is that all characters have something going on for them an…

Masterpiece!
I should have wrote this review ages ago. My username is based off this anime. One of my favorite animes of all time.
However I'm not sure why it's extremely well accepted on MAL. I mean it deserves it but here's where I'm coming from.
I'm actually Japanese, grew up there and go to and from Japan to North America quite often. Gintama's genre would be action and comedy. Most of it is comedy besides the arcs and final season which is action packed. However the comedy part is full of references to real places, people, current events, culture, stereotypes and a plethora of other things that are only relative to current and historic Japan. It's also full of comedy in the form of a play on words.
What I'm trying to say is that you would have to be pretty well versed with the…

“Gintama°” is the greatest “Gintama” has been so far, in my opinion. And it had the larg shoes of the “Gintama' : Enchousen” to fill. While the latter were 12 chapters with no duds, the first manages 51 of awesome television. It realy feels like every mid or not-as-relevant arc was moved to the “Gintama.: Porori-Hen” and we get the best possible experience for the “Gintama°” season.
This whole season feels much like a conclusion. The characters are delivering in their meanings and being very clear on how they ultimately contributed to both the plot and the messages the show is trying to convey. Even the gag characters and some long forgotten characters are brought back in style. Still, the balance between comedy, drama, and action is pretty good. I'd also add that the action is the best “…

Despite its comedic nature, Gintama features deep character arcs and development over its long run. Characters grow, evolve, and face serious challenges, which adds emotional depth to the series. It also known for its sharp wit and hilarious parodies of other anime, pop culture, and even real-world events, Gintama is consistently funny and doesn't rely solely on slapstick or crude humor. And its emotional Depth Beyond its humor, Gintama can tug at heartstrings with its poignant moments and touching stories. It balances comedy with moments of genuine emotion and seriousness. Overall, Gintama stands out not only for its humor and action but also for its ability to deliver meaningful character development and social commentary, making it a compelling and enduring anime recommendation.

update on my previous review on gintama ( the first season )
I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH ON WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH GINTAMA
It's nothing as people say, you don't have to watch 100's of animes before watching this show. It's pure comedy which fluctuates between all types of genres in anime. Although it would be a nice treat if you know about the mainstream animes the big shounens.
Also THE PLOT IS NOT SKIPPABLE although it revolves around comedic episodes for post of the season but the plot oh boy does the plot thickens. GINTAMA CONTAINS NO FILLERS. THE FILLERS IS WHERE ITS AT. DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING I REPEAT DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING IT IS SO SO SO GOOD.
The thing i love the most about gintama is that every character i mean every character even the characters in the backgrounds with no name will make you…

Season 1-8 Review
This is a masterpiece and I mean it. Firstly, you don't need to see 100s of animes like people tell you to, these guys are probably people who hate the show without watching it. You don't need to see even 15 shows to watch it. 10 would be fine.
Gintama has every single genre. It's not widely historic like it's told though. The only things that are historic are a few characters names and Edo(the setting) is based on History. Gintoki on the other hand, is not a real person but is taken from a storytale baby named Kintoki who killed bears lmao.
The show; it's awesome and realistic. It's not mainly focussed on dreams and goals, or even people's backstories. It's focused on how to live life after your dreams have been crushed. The only show where you can relate with everyone…

Alright... so. Seeing as this was one of the highest rated anime in myanimelist, I gave it a shot... without watching seasons 1-3.
Did I ever laugh out loud? No. Will this make you laugh out loud? Well, it depends. Everyone has a different sense of humour, ey?
Are the characters interesting and funny? Yes. Despite a lot of clichés being used, I found that I actually didn't mind them.
Some of the comedy episodes are better than the rest, true, but isn't that the case of most Anime? Some episodes are always better than others.
It's really a "slice of life" show that isn't really meant to be binged - I mean, I never watched the previous seasons, but I could still fathom what was going on.
Then the serious arc came. Thank god I didn't watch the previous seasons just to get attached to the ch…

For anyone that made into gintama S4, thank you for making it this far. Like previous seasons it has the same fun and tone shifts but with much better animation. The scale of the plot reaches greater heights than ever before.
This here is "the point of no return" or the turning point of the whole series. From episode 300, everything that has been built up till now will lead to a huge emotional void on the viewers and the story as a whole.
The first half starts off as a comedy like previous seasons and this is just a good preparation before things shift from 0 to 100 real quick. Gintama with this season proves how it's not a just a typical shonen and it's not just a comedy anime like people view it as.
From tragic and well animated fights, shocking reveals, well developed characters and…

I cannot get enough of Gintama. Honestly one of the best animes I have come across.
Although Gintama spans many seasons, episodes, and movies it is all very well worth it. I cannot express how sad, funny, exhausting, intense, and euphoric this season has been.
The first 30 episodes were everyday SoL anime episodes with comedy and some backstory. The last 16 or so episodes with both arcs hit heavy though. It is insane how well this season is.
The Shinsengumi arc is amazing no doubt about it. No Spoilers but I loved the Shonen battle scenes in it!
The Animation: Top Notch animation.
The Music: I liked the intros, but there was a better Gintama intro. Compared to other animes this seasons music is like a 7/10 at best.
The Characters: We were introduced to a ton of character…

Top notch animation+ super serious arcs+ super cool fights. Gintoki is in action .. hell yeah, shiroyaksha nails it. It’s easily batter than the best arcs of big 3 or ain’t anime you’ve watched. It’s was not really predictable. This season also got the best 2 arcs of the anime. It’s well deserved. Art style is definitely top notch . The blood lust , choreography is too good. No flaws are there , as far as I know. Don’t rate this anime it you’ve not watched the Gintama ever. I’ve seen those FMAB bastards who create fake accounts and rate it 1. Literally there is 1 in a really long series.

Ahem. Gintama°. What can I say about this anime? It's certainly not your run-of-the-mill anime, that's for sure. The story is... well, it's all over the place, to be honest. It jumps around from serious arcs to wacky comedy bits with no warning whatsoever. But somehow, it all works. I mean, I didn't always understand what was going on, but I was always entertained.
As for the style, well, it's definitely unique. The art is a bit rough around the edges, but that's part of its charm. And the animation... let's just say it's not exactly top-notch. But again, it somehow manages to add to the overall appeal of the show.
Now, let's talk about some of the main characters. There's Gintoki, the lazy samurai who's always looking for a quick buck. He's definitely the standout character for me. His…

Gintama deserves all of the praise it gets and then some. This really is a show that some people just don't understand, which is saying a lot for a show with as many toilet humor jokes as stars in the sky.
Of course the constant barfing, nutshots, and strange references are all there to put down your guard. When they dig the knife in for emotional scenes, I'll be the first to admit that some of it is a little melodramatic. But the way the show constantly parodies itself and everything else you can think of makes it the legendary show that it is. Worth watching 100% for anyone.

I don't have the words to describe this season, this manga, this masterpiece. I would like to say more but I just can't find anything to say. Gintama will always be for me one of the best works ever released in the last decades. Thank you THREE LIGHTS DOWN KINGS for these golden endings. Thank you Does for these masterful openings. Thanks to everyone for everything.
DON'T DROP GINTAMA. A lot of people start out based on clips/ratings and judge it based on standards taken from other anime and that is typically the wrong thing to do. You won't like it instantly and that's normal. Its story structure is different and won't instantly go for drama and that's NORMAL. It's not like the others and that's not what it wants!!! Does that make it boring though? Who knows. How do you want to understan…

Just watch it. This Anime is in general a masterpiece, from episode 1 to the very last movie - absolutely breathtaking piece of art. The only times you will encounter problems, watching this anime is, if you have expectations from the very start. Gintama has a slow start but snowballs into being a serious anime quite fast.
General rule for Gintama: Start for the bad jokes, keep going for the characters and stay to witness absolute peak!
The animationstyle keeps bettering as seasons pass, the story gets more interesting and every new character you encounter is bound to reappear countless times. Watching this Anime is a unique experience in itself.

Incredible.
Just Incredible.
Shogun Assasination Arc and Farewell Shinsengumi Arc was one of the best arcs i've ever seen in my life. Gintoki and Takasugi's backstory and why Takasugi hated Gintoki to the death and Shoyo-sensei actually being immortal and our beloved shogun Tokugawa Shigeshige's death.
The only thing i wish was how characters keep getting injured and injured and injured and they can still get up and fight like nothing. Other than that Gintama° is a absolute masterpiece, Gintama can be a little tough to get into it but it is really worth it.
You should give Gintama a chance.
