Girls und Panzer

Introduction

"Senshadou" is a traditional sport using World War II era tanks in elimination-based matches. Widely practiced by women and girls alike, it's advertised as a form of art geared towards making ladies more prominent in culture and appealing to men. Becoming a worldwide phenomenon over time, the influence of senshadou leads to the creation of a world championship which will soon be held in Japan. Miho Nishizumi, who comes from a lineage of well-respected senshadou specialists, is at odds with the sport after a traumatic event led to her retirement and eventually a rift to form between her and her family. To steer clear of the practice as much as possible, she transfers to Ooarai Girls Academy where the senshadou program has been abolished. However, with the news of the upcoming championships, the school revives their tankery program, and Miho is pushed into joining. Now, with the aid of some new friends, she must overcome her past and once again take command of a squadron of tanks in an effort to save her school from closure, all while proving to her family that the Nishizumi-style of senshadou is not solely about victory. In 'Girls und Panzer', small young ladies fire upon each other in tanks for sport and nobody gets injured, let alone dies. Tournaments of it are broadcast on national television, naturally. It's rather an unwise funnel to drop public funds into. I wasn't aware that the debt of the Japanese state is actually caused by their buying tanks for school children that cyclically get destroyed, repaired and replaced. The student council purports that tank warfare makes women really strong and feminine or something. That's genius. I think if every Japanese female partook in this sport, they could take a shit in the toilet sans sound dampening system. The only question is, has feminism gone too far? Let's cut the shit. The story is a bunch of faecal doo doo. The main character has her shitass traum…

Absurd physics, bonkers tactics, illogical locations, simple bizarre story. Girls were never in real danger despite being completely exposed, vehicles got destroyed and fixed as new inbetween battles. Tank fights often became chases and somehow close-combat skirmishes. Evading, drifting, jumping as if they were light sport cars. Result: I still had a lot of fun! The girls were simply wholesome and it was hilarious watching them operate military machinery as a normal school activity XD And the final fights were thrilling despite the nonsensical strategies and obvious outcomes. There was a little drama attempt here and there, but it didn't last long. Each enemy school was based on funny national stereotypes: my favourite was Pravda with its anthem song and its bratty tsundere loli. The gr…

If you go into Girls und Panzer expecting it to bad, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you go into it expecting it to be good, you might be a little disappointed. Which means it's worth a risk. It has a great outro. I think the show is aware of what it is which always helps. It was a very fun watch even if I've never and will likely never feel the need to rewatch it. For what the plot is, it's written quite well, and it's one of those shows where I genuinely love the characters and look out for certain ones (Hippo team).

This is a show that could either be great or utter garbage. Thankfully, it achieves greatness by creating a world for the enjoyment of history buffs and military technology enthusiasts. The tanks are impeccably modeled, with attention paid, from the way that hatches open, to the reticles used, to the way the breechblocks slide (horizontal for US tanks, vertical for German ones). This show is an 8/10 - great. It knows what it is setting out to do, and does it exceptionally well. Each of the other schools caricatures a nation in WWII, and act in ways that will delight the historically-minded viewer. The music is a 10/10, with each school getting 1-2 renditions of a historical military march, some of which are literally the highest quality examples that can be found on YouTube (instrumental…

========A REVIEW EM PORTUGUÊS ESTÁ ABAIXO DA REVIEW EM INGLÊS=========== ========THE PORTUGUESE REVIEW IS BELLOW THE ENGLISH REVIEW============= The translation of the name "Girls und Panzer" is, literally, "Girls and Tanks" — and that is exactly what the anime delivers. The main charm of Girls und Panzer (GuP), besides the cute and funny girls, is definitely its attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy when it comes to war tanks. You can truly feel the creators’ passion for these machines throughout the episodes, and to me, there is nothing better to watch than something made with genuine passion. Even if you do not care about tanks or just think they are cool because of games, movies, and such (my case), this anime can absolutely captivate you, just like it captivated…

Girls Und Panzer forces the viewer to confront a harsh historical truth - the axis didn't lose WW2 because of logistics, politics, or anything like that - they lost because they lacked the power of friendship, and the drive to put on the best damn talent show the town has ever seen. No tank shell can penetrate the bonds that this cast has - not even HE. The show is a perfect storm of comedy, suspense, action, and drama. A little bit of everything but just a perfect balance so no particular element sullies the rest. The main characters all have a fleshed out backstory, and the side characters understand their role as side characters and compensate by being eccentric and witty. Girls Und Panzer has a LOT going on that makes it stand out from any other series I have ever watched. It is, if…

You know I watched this, Thinking it was going to be a cool very militarized anime with cute anime girls And that it kinda is but if you are expecting some kind of "action packed series" for majority of its running time you'll sadly be disappointed I was honestly bored for majority of this, I don't think I really started enjoying it until the second to last episode I don't really find any of the characters interesting, Other then the fact that the MC (Don't even remember her name) dove into some water to save her teammates in a flashback, Which that was pretty metal tbh The last 2 episodes are pretty great though, You get some tank action in those so I'm not saying that this is completely bad but it's just not anything spectacular My ranking for Girls und Panzer is a mid 6/10

i feel like girls und panzer is that one anime that no matter what genre you like, if you like slice of life battle shounen drama etc, you NEED to watch it. it's just the perfect mixture of slice of life action and (while not fully developed to its best in the anime) drama. the ending was so overwhelmingly jolly i almost let some tears out. it's very predictable and happy-go-lucky of course but if you really want unpredictable astounding action you should be watching jujutsu kaisen or some shit. also mako is so fucking real i have never related so much to a character (except the fact that she actually went out and did what she needed to do) but the thing about skipping important/cool things as soon as you realize they're too early in the morning is real as fuck i would NEVER wake up in a S…

In what is likely his most viewed lecture, titled "How To Speak", professor Patrick Winston says that you need to start with a promise, 'the reason for being here". From the first few seconds, Girls und Panzer makes a promise to you, and then spends the next 12 episodes, few OVAs, and 7 or so movies, constantly delivering on that promise. Many will argue that is is a mediocre series, argue about the technical aspects, mention realism (wut?), drop a "CGDCT", and all that. I disagree; in my opinion, what makes a series great is delivering on the promise it gave you. This is one of the best series in terms of how it delivers on its promise. * Over 50 easter eggs & references over just 12 episodes? Check. * Appropriate music choices for each school / country theme? Double check. * Decent (but…

Your local "nazi" larper's favorite anime. This average score of 7.53 really highlights the overall stupidity of the anime community. To think that the screen writer also made Liz and the Blue bird wow The fapbait mixed in with the WW2 wannabe "historian" slash tank nerd slop makes this anime unwatchable without having to take breaks every four to five minutes. The way the history larp slop gets introduced is insufferable: two characters Yukari (fanservice for wannabe tank nerds that are really just war thunder players good at reading stat cards) thats are just here to quote unquote nerd out on history but shes really just giving fun facts that you could get out of a ww2 history youtube short , and the Rommel fangirl that keeps rambling about the great achievements of the whermacht ,all t…

Me as someone who grew up playing alot of World of tanks and War thunder, and also with anime, when i first discovered this anime i was very surprised, this anime really mix well the cute anime girls with the tanks just as the title says, the battles are very chaotic and fun overall (even if they dont make much sense) and you do learn things about tanks. What i really love in this anime, is the use of WW2 references and Culture Stereotype reflected in each importart character and schools in general, making a good comedy out of it, like Anzio Senshado School which is based in Italy, having an entire food event revolving Pasta, and its fun how they make it in the anime haha... The story isnt very deep or something like that its not that explored, its really just as the title says it focus…

Girls und panzer is such a wierd, unike and great concept. It does have some negatives like how the season is very short which leads to them having to cut out a bit of story it feels like and it can be a bit cheesy at times (but maybe that is to be expected) and there are some inconsistencies at times which can be a bit distracting. In the other hand, Girls und panzer has a really solid story with a clear goal and just fun all around. Girls und panzer have stripped tanks of their brutal past and history and made it into something fun and enjoyable. Also making it so the roles are reversed with the men not having any interest in tanks or cars and it instead being a girly thing to do is also a very fun twist to it all. Otherwise it has good character building (even if i still think it's to…

✒ 😍 Teenieboppers, Tanks & Tea 💥 Tread On Me °8° °A blast° 💯%🔍 minor spoilers only We all know that soldiers operate tanks. Most of them happen to be men. But GUP is about the best tank operators. Of course, we are talking about the most fearsome warriors on the planet today: Teenage Girls. Teen girls populate the Tankery Clubs at HS. Nishizumi actually picked her new school because they /didn't/ have a tank club. She's trying to escape her family's legacy. As soon as she gets there, though, the drive to start a Tankery Club coincidentally begins. One thing leads to another and she practically gets forced into Tankery. Thankfully, she's really, really, /really/ good at it. Here's what they say at the orientation for the school's mandatory electives: “Tankery: A part of our culture w…

Art: 10/10 Story: 5/10 Pacing: 2/10 This anime truly sticks to its title "Girls and Tanks," and I truly commend the story writers for that! This anime was not for me at all, but I think if you like military animes of any sort, this could be for you, although, the pacing of the anime especially in the first half is extremely slow and it makes you not want to follow and you lose track of what is happening. Overall, the art is great and fits the overall story! The characters also fit, some giddy characters, anxious, overly ambitious - which makes it really fun to watch at times. The characters also have a great bond, which is really nice to see, especially in such a setting as one of these animes.

Girls & Panzer is one of those anime that’s just plain fun, even if it’s a little ridiculous. It’s about this girl, Miho Nishizumi, who’s trying to escape her family’s obsession with tank combat, but ends up getting roped into her school’s tank team anyway. Yeah, you heard that right—tank combat as a school sport. It’s wild, but it works. The show’s got these awesome tank battles that are way more intense and strategic than you’d expect, and the characters are a mix of quirky and endearing. Sure, it’s not deep or groundbreaking, but it doesn’t try to be. It’s just a good time, with a balance of action, humor, and a touch of heart. If you’re into weird, creative concepts and don’t mind some over-the-top moments.

What an absolute joy this anime was! I love it when series present a simple premise and just execute it to the best of their abilities and this is a perfect example of that. It tells you exactly what it is from the title - cute girls and awesome tanks. You know exactly what you want it to be and that's exactly what it is. This anime really has that 80s action movie charm of having a simple and straightforward story that is nonetheless engaging all throughout. Really, it's not anything you haven't seen before, but it doesn't need to be. The story is easy to follow and the characters are all super charismatic and loveable. With the bare minimum of backstory on them (you get more than that of course), you're already invested in them and rooting for their success by episode 2. There's conflic…

i like it, the character is good, they give me a mysterious thought about the background of their life, a short story that have many theories since there's no 1 person pov (no scene that they talking in own mind), relatable character, i like how this anime is just show a female, and show an accurate things about girl (i don't know how to explain), i like how the problem solve think that Miho have, how calm she is, and how its she just a senior high school student that made me so feel amazed, how well written the character is (all character also).

After hearing about it for 10 years I finally watched Girls Und Panzer. 8/10 stupid fun IF you buy in at the first episode. A condensed sports anime about tank battles. Fun, wacky action that balances when to respect real tank behavior and when to break physics for fun's sake. A unique strength of the show is when its cocktail of absurdity begs a question from the viewer, and then it answers it AND tells a joke at the same time. Also has some high tier jokes that may go over people's heads. If you like sports anime, try this one for a unique take on the genre. Recommend you watch in Japanese.

Here is perhaps first simply good and wholesome show I am reviewing. It is not stellar brilliant like Code Geass or anything like that, but it is nice and thoroughly enjoyable entertainment. It has a nice cast of very likable girls, good and intriguing plot and battles on tanks. This show puts great attention to details. All tanks are accurate real life historical models such as M4 Sherman, T-34, StuG III or Panzer IV. They are carefully replicated very much resemble their real life counterparts. They even researched many obscure models and added them as well. All terminology and methods of operating tanks are also carefully recreated. Protagonist school Oorai uses tanks from all over the world, while their opponents are themed after each particular country and uses only their tanks. Al…

Despite the lack of much real plot beyond the concept of anime girls in tanks, it is a minor shortcoming easily lost in the fun combat scenes and general awesomeness that is bound to come with such an amazing concept. The charm this show has both in its wholesome character interactions and nerdiness is unparalleled by anything else I have seen. The mix of 3d animation into the show is a bit jarring at first, but as I said before, in order to enjoy this show you cant get caught up in small details such as plot or animation, it's genuinely a fun show that's easy to get invested in.
