This Show made me feeling things; disgust, laughter, sadness, excitement, tension, grief, etc.
At its core its a show about 2 people and this whole show is truly about 2 people; and learning who they are and the way the world reacts to them is beautifully shown and written.
I have pictures from when i watched the last episode and it looked like i was watching a tragedy, to which i say i was.
This is a Masterpiece that has pulled emotions out of me that made me look at them and feel uncomfortable with each minute passing, Its truly a must watch.

TLDR: good at making you feel bad (in a good way? probably) just trust and watch past the first few episodes
Calling this show bittersweet would be similar to calling an apple a fruit. perhaps, its more similar to calling a tomato a fruit because, after finishing, i feel much more bitter. If you wish to watch a show that definitively will cause you to stare at the blank screen, after the last episode, contemplating suffering like the Buddha (very much so the mood i was in), stop reading reviews and just watch it ( its okay to finish mine though ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀) ). Its doomed yuri Romeo & Juliet but with way more drama and much less lovable characters ; this Japanese Shakespeare really needs a therapist (or a search warrant), check it out, and if you don`t want to? Check it out anyway. All goo…

So uhh, I pulled this up from my backlog to watch since it's Pride Month, and I'm including everything with either the GL, BL, or Crossdressing tags that I had in my PTW... this was one hell of a pull, though I'm pretty sure I initially added this from a horror/Halloween list, not for the yuri aspect.
And for the most part, it was very engaging. Some murder and kidnapping shenanigans, about what I expected from a more grounded horror, though I would probably want something more supernatural and maybe campy for Halloween. The trademark here is that most of the characters focused on here, though, are pedophilic to some degree, wanting either of these underage girls, the teenager or the 8-year-old. And the teenager herself thinks that she's in love with the 8yr old too, so that's another ped…

The characters are bland, but very consistent. About everyone in this show is predictable. One thing about this amine is although I would say it is below average, the anime has some REALLY good parts that make you question the overall potential of the it.
Sometimes the animation quality just straight up sucks (whatever that's about), but the most of the cut-scenes are immersive and some of them are actually really well done. Most of the time the animation is fine, but it's fluctuating quality is a subtle detail.
This anime makes the understanding of how a character is the way they are, very obvious. Often times character behaviours in the show are overemphasized.
The show actually has some really good moments where they properly execute; its potential is evident. At its peak, I actuall…

This anime isn't just trash, it's ass. It isn't just ass, it's shit. It isn't just shit, I want my time back.
This is the story of a teen who kidnapped an elementary school girl, and for the next 12 episodes you will see that portraid as a very good thing, and some comically evil idiots will be sprinkled on top in order to make sure your viewing experience is as miserable as possible.
It's not a deep story like it likes to pretend it is, it's written like shit, the characters are shit, and the animation is ABYSMAL. The animation is one of the ugliest I've ever seen. The characters move like they're stones being moved on a table. The character designs are boring and the most basic shit that I've seen 10000 times before. The art style is ugly as hell, it looks right out of the sketchbook of…

For once, a horror with psychological themed anime really creeped me out...It's the fact that the protoganist is a sweet looking and pretty highschool girl that looks like the school crush type, but secretly a serial killer that has a mindset you would never wanna understand. Like seriously no joke, the corruption of her mind and the words in her thoughts runs a chill down my spine... It's the way I am scared to continue each episode, cuz this anime doesn't spill the full lore but instead reveals small secrets that would make you crave for a new episode, not in an annoying way, which is executed very well. The op song is also super adorable based on the aesthetics and how cute it sounds, but I have no idea why it still freaks me out despite seeing how they could shove such a dark concept i…

I found this anime very interesting because it is hard to decide which character is in the right.
It also shows that without true role models, for example parents with a normal relationship will effect how a child perceives love leading to possibly tilted opinions and views.
All the characters were well thought out and played the roles, for example a brother looking for his sister extremely well.
Overall I give it a mixed review as a lot of viewers will not understand or like what it’s about.
This is not a normal romance happy light anime it is deep, dark and concerning in some parts
Thx for reading.

Overall it's not bad. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone but it was at least presented fairly well. Making the MC a female was the right choice to make this anime able to be received even remotely well by a general audience. A male MC in the same position would have had people immediately just jump to paedophilia and grooming. Not to say the themes aren't still there.
Happy Sugar Life is an anime about the fluidity of love through trauma. Love is not always something you feel for someone purely, it can also be the emotional response to the need to hold on to simply anything. The anime explores many aspects of trauma and abuse and shows how it can cause people to latch on to love as an escape. This "love" takes many forms and isn't represented by a single standard, being different a…

*Brief Review-Reflections*
~~
This here is a little world full of people who, by all means, should visit therapy, a ward, and/or the government's social welfare center in order to prevent another budding of a new little world similar to this "happy sugar life".
It is always to be treated like a contributive treat these art that unmask the deception worn by society's members in their high-functioning guise as they reveal crumbs of harsh truth which confess psychological malfunctions due to nature and nurture (with a focus on the latter). Although a tad bit exaggerated under poetic and fictional licenses, the unveilings are deserving of pardon; *Happy Sugar Life*'s activity radiates continuous intrigue simply because of the unashamed madness of its characters, major or minor. The anime s…

This show has 2 main appeals, one for those who want a suspenseful drama with a cast with different motivations, and another for those looking to pick apart character ideologies and theming. Both are done decently enough to provide an enjoyable experience whether you're braindead or taking notes, but both may need to improve their ability to suspend their disbelief. This show deals with the extremes of humanity and the characters can usually be described quite simply, seemingly in a way that is on purpose. If you don't mind doing some of the extra legwork in your head to give the show a consistent theme it's a fun take notes kind of show.

You know that annoying saying "always read the manga first"?
That VERY much applies here.
The anime does not do a good job explaining what this story actually is, at least not clearly.
The main character is an unreliable narrator and the manga does an excellent job showing that, but the anime made it to seem as if this were a girls love story which couldn't be further from the truth, the result being people think this is positive lolibait garbage when in reality its supposed to be a psychological horror story and nothing more.
I feel like this anime needs to be remade to properly depict the manga correctly because this manga deserved so much better and was a good commentary on the consequences of grooming and other forms of pedophilia.

Brief overview: Watch the first half of the season as there is so much content packed in, but towards the end, the story loses its charm.
Introduction
Satou a high school student has been living a normal school life. She behaves and acts like a normal and happy student however deep inside her life she is looking after one thing that is precious to her. Her name is Shio and Shio is the sole reason how Satou experiences love therefore she will do anything to protect her even killing the ones that are the closest to her.
Story 5/10
It is a horror anime that sets its stage so well and is frightening at the start in fact this is one of the scariest anime of all time. However, towards the end of the series, the story and settings become a mess and all the build-up towards that point has been w…

Honestly, I had to finish it because I could not believe it was THAT bad. All in one sitting too. I'm not getting those 4 hours back lol. If you truly think this is a masterpiece, then all power to you, but this is the worst anime I have ever watched.
The entire dynamic between the MC and the supporting cast feels like the writer was trying their best to stab themself while they were writing the plot every time that the MC made a decision. I am impressed with how bad it was. Truly a work of art and something that I will try my best to forget.
0/10 would not recommend.

A psychological thriller with a crapsaccharine twist- I want to rate this anime higher, but for all the qualities that make it appealing, it fails to exceed in any given area.
Happy Sugar Life hooks you with the protagonist's Death Note-esque calculated Machiavellianism, and the short 12-episode season culminates in a much more satisfying conclusion than the 2006 anime. However, the mid-season was painfully slow-paced and featured side-plots which failed to grab my attention. Conversely, all they did was interrupt my suspended disbelief- how did all these unhinged characters converge? One answer might have lied in Happy Sugar Life's religious undertones, but this explanation was barely addressed by the season's end—truly a missed opportunity.
This anime is a good pick for those who want…

"Did they make the pedophile a cute girl so she's harder to hate?"
This is a real quote from a friend of mine when I asked her opinion on the show. After watching it, I'm certain the answer is yes.
Happy Sugar Life is one of those shows that markets itself as a complex psychological story about nuanced characters who are undoubtedly bad people yet still manage to curry sympathy with the audience for how the story digs into them as characters. It is also one of those shows that uses that veneer as an excuse to avoid criticism for its true nature.
The protagonist of Happy Sugar Life is a bad person. She is "in love" with a prepubescent girl she is keeping in her house. She kills people who get in the way of her romance with this child. Yet her attachment to this girl is never, ever sexual…

Happy Sugar Life is one of the greatest psychological horror shows anime has to offer. Trauma, lack of mentorship, and the pursuit of love push the characters to perform direly, leading to a beautifully executed tragedy ripe with emotion; and plenty of violence. Plotwise, it's quite intentionally disconcerting, which one could consider "edgy," but, even as characters act in the most obviously morally corrupt manner, the tone comes across as more unsettling than anything. The ending is satisfactory-- Studio Ezόla doesn't hide the plot's tragic tendencies, especially with the opening scene. While true horror is a rarity in anime, more than enough happens to categorize this show as such.
This show is best watched blindly, and binged. I imagine it would have been quite frustrating trying to…

This anime is bad, but have a special place in my heart.
When judging an Anime I take the following factors in consideration "characters likebility", "visual quality", "Audictive quality" and "story quality". Because of that, sometimes an Anime may go very well in some of this factors, but terrible in others. Happy Sugar Life is perhaps the greatest exemple of been brilliant in some aspects but totally trash in others.
Visual Quality: the anime is gorgeous, character designs are cute, animation is fluid, and the construction of the scenes are well done.
Audictive Quality: The anime have a great OST, the op and Ed are bangers, the bgm is well placed in occordance with the feeling of the scene.
Character Likebility: That is where things start to sink. The little girl, Shio, is super cute a…

As much as I enjoy shows and media in general that make me uncomfortable and present taboo topics most don't even wanna think about, this one felt just unnecessary and as if it was constantly trying to find a mix for realistic-ish thought processes the characters have to just typical anime BS that overall take away from the experience in my opinion. It felt as though it was trying to stay grounded while constantly trying to do some sort of shock factor to it all and it came off as forced and nonsensical in the end. Nothing about this stands out in terms of actual intrigue or originality and just exists to make you go "They did WHAT(le 30 white woman gasp)" like "The Boys" does with its shock value. At least in The Boys however, they're clearly having fun with it.

This show mostly sucks but it has a lot of basic entertainment value and a few good scenes. The art isn't especially great or terrible. I sticks to that cutesy, simpler modern style where you don't think about it too much.
There's this pink-haired Yuuno wannabe (Satou) keeps this blue-haired kid (Shio) locked in her apartment. Exactly what happened is a mystery, but it's heavily implied that Satou killed someone beforehand. Satou's schtick is that she's lived her whole life without feeling proper love, but suddenly she loves this little kid and tries to protect her from the outside world while avoiding being caught. It's bizarre, but it's not especially hard to watch since it doesn't delve into full chomo territory (although it sometimes gets close to feeling like it).
Other characters i…

At first I thought this is a veryy twisted and bizzar show (and it still is) but as I was watching I realized that this is not about the extremely controversial story but something else entirely. It's a show that gets you thinking about love. what is love? what it means?
while the characters and situations are completely fictional, the depth of the characters, their decisions and way of life is extremely real and resembles pieces of reality. And it really gets you questioning the lines between desire, sex, love and right/wrong. What love makes you do and what is defiantly not love.
The ending gave me some AWE experience when I realized how deep love can be internalized. I felt like I now understand my place in the world better. because I'm of course non of these characters but the differe…
