Yet another series summarized by its wasted potential, Chrome Shelled Regios had all the ingredients other anime could only dream of. Yet, it fell short of becoming truly special. Instead, Chrome Shelled Regios settled itself as mediocre, much like all other anime. The true shame in the outcome of Chrome Shelled Regios is the hand it started off with—one that, if played right, could have propelled the series and everything associated with it to generational infamy. Alas, after all the predictability, overpowered moments, and unanswered questions, the only thing Chrome Shelled Regios and its characters will be infamous for is how they managed to botch surefire success.
The cities of Regios; the Fallen Ones who are left behind these cities, the internal power/energy called Kei found in some…

>>>>>Well, Chrome Shelled Regios is certainly memorable, that’s for sure. Being memorable isn’t always a good thing, however, as this anime will certainly teach you.
>>>>>Is it sci-fi? Is it fantasy? Is it... Magic or future tech or what? In fact, what is even happening?
Such are the questions that every viewer of this anime will be asking before the end. Oh boy; this is gonna be a long one. VISUALS [ 6 / 10 ]
>>>>>Regios certainly has a look, that’s for sure. Other than some excellently done character expressions and visual gags, however, there isn’t much separating this anime from everything else of the same era. The main strength of this production was clearly the background artists’ ability to port…

tl;dr: An anime where there’s potential in a lot of areas, but it doesn’t quite use it well.
Chrome Shelled Regios has a really interesting setting, wherein moving cities traverse an endless desolate plane full of monsters that could destroy them at any time. Despite that, within the cities themselves things proceed in a manner that is pretty relaxed. The majority of the anime is centered around a high school military training program where things proceed in a pretty typical battle academy format with battles between different teams within the school and occasional threats from outside. However, as the series progresses, the world building turned out to be a lot more complicated than I expected, and though a lot was left incredibly nebulous, what was there was still incredibly interesting…

This show is still the reigning champion of the worst sound track category. The very moment fight starts it is followed by most annoying and uninspired 3 seconds of music I have heard in my life. Not only that it starts to repeat and does so through the entire season. On more than one occasion I have dropped watching it only because of music. The rest is not bad, but it's not good either. But the music gives me PTSD.
Usually some time will pass and I'll forget about it only to randomly run into it and like the synopsis. Before the first fight on episode two I will remember the music and immediately scramble to turn it off before it starts. It's THAT bad.
Overall package is not unwatchable, but music for me makes it so. Don't get me wrong, this show is no high art of any caliber. Chemistr…

This is your typical OP hero, puts his life constantly on the line for friends, after growing up in an orphanage, so the unlikely hero. The story is average at best, as they put a different spin on the OP hero to the usual isekai's out there.
Basically, the planet went bad and is a toxic, corrosive, post-apocalyptic desert. Now kids are militarized early and I don't see many adults in the whole show, so it says to me life expectancy is not high. Your typical monsters have taken over the earth, and only the stronger cities survive as they battle out between military education institutes for parts and equipment and of course the glory,
Of course as usual our hero has a past, and of course, it was doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, so although he wears it like a ton of bricks as a…

Where to even begin with this one.. Chrome Shelled Regios is a series I came in with certain expectations considering its genre and length. I was expecting a series about people who live in domed city states, training at a military academy while also seeing live combat. And you could say you get that.. if you’re fine with it being relayed with the finesse of a drunken hobo.
Let’s start with the first problem you encounter: the pacing. In anime, the first couple of episodes set the tone, pace and introduce the setting in this allotted amount of time. Regios makes no attempt at doing this, instead dumping a bunch of exposition about characters you neither know nor care about.
Regios, for its entire allotted runtime, stays in its own little world, sort of like the domed cities. It doesn’t c…

Chrome Shelled Regios is set in a world where cities are mobile. What makes them move are spirits. The spirits are often free to wander as they see fit and various things can happen based on what a city comes across in its travels. It could be another city, or a horde of monsters. The city at the center of the story is Zuellni.
The main character in all of this is Layfon. He has a bit of a troubled past and has left his original home looking to start fresh. He himself was hoping to leave the military behind which is why he came to Zuellni, a city that focuses more on growth through education and general knowledge rather than military prowess.
Layfon being a very gifted person in the field of military arts combined with his experiences growing up giving him various abilities like cooking,…

Chrome Shelled Regios (2009)
Note although Legend of Regios is played in the main series it is documented separately.
Story
A post-apocalyptic world in moving cities that tend to try to avoid the mutant monsters outside in the ruins of the world that has more or less collapsed. The younger generations are fighting the enemy and they compete with other cities for training and survival.
It is a somewhat known scenario and is fitting in a sense something that can be repeatedly done. Hundred (2016) is like it in the fact of the children fighting monsters in moving academies. Darling in the FranXX (2018) is similar in that they have moving cities, fighting monsters and survive alongside and against other cities to an extent. (I love Darling in the FranXX).
There is nothing wrong with thi…

I honestly really enjoyed it.
It's not a new setting at all - a post-apocalyptic world, some sort of walled cities to keep people safe, monsters outside. If that is your thing, you definitely should give it a try. (Reminds me a lot of God Eater)
It does not rely much on a deep story. The characters aren't developing much, instead they mostly are already well-written from the beginning. It relies more on revealing the past of the characters, explaining why the are like they are, and getting to know eachother, rather than having a huge development throughout the series.
It's action based, some romance (one-way though, since the main character doesn't realize anything at all) and often also pretty funny.

The pilot - here the first episode - is probably one of the worst anime pilot I've ever seen. Everything in it advertise everything the wrong way : the sound/music is uselessly loud, inelegant, and cheap. Graphisms are, at best, unbalanced. But the worst come with the clichés (one every 5 sec) that will make you struggle to go past this first episode. And there's the funny part : while a pilot episode is usually done in a way that should trigger your curiosity to watch the show, here it is so BAD that everything that comes after it seems a little better ! I have no idea how they manage to do that.
But the key words here are ... 'seems' a little better.
Unfortunately, this anime want to go in every possible directions, totally unable to carry its own weight and unable to focus on a single…

Alright so I am just gonna keep this short, sweet, and to the point
Story: 6/10
- the storyline had potential, but in the end, there were too many unanswered questions. In addition to that, it is quite easy to get confused at times because some things were not well explained.
Art: 6/10
- this anime was aired in 2009, you can't really expect it to have amazing animation. I say it was sub-par.
Sound: 7/10
- sound was alright, average at best. I really did enjoy the theme song though. Character: 7/10
- I found that the anime did present some characters that you could really feel for and connect with. However, the anime introduced too many characters that were irrelevant to the story.
Enjoyment: 7/10
- even with a lot of evident flaws, i still enjoyed it. Unlike some anime, i become disi…

I dare to call this anime a hidden op and also its an anime which could have been so much more sadly the anime creator died(suicide) so this is what i have to review.
Chrome shell regios isnt your typical post apocalyptic anime. This anime takes super powers to another awesome level yet it doesnt make it feel overly filled with things. Why, i already said it felt unfinished so why in gods name am i giving it an 8.
The story has is good and well made. Its mostly centered around one of many havens that humans had to evacuate to after earth got so polluted that you couldnt walk outside unless you wore special gear. It has it focus on the character that deserves it meaning the character and it gives everyhing to make him feel as powered up as he should. Its not like he has 5 minuts of fame…

Where to start? Hmm. Let's go from good to bad.
Action is fairly decent. It's got a mix of sword fighting and energy attacks against humans in controlled competition and monsters in a desperate bid for survival. Fighting revolves around skill and use of "kei" which is their energy/mana. The protagonist is quite OP compared to most of the characters because he can copy anyone's techniques. He also is a very accomplished fighter who traveled to a relatively peaceful city, further widening the ability gap. Overall, fairly enjoyable.
Art and Sound are nothing special. The music is alright. It won't be on any playlists but could have been a lot worse. The show went for a rising action plug theme to be reused whenever needed. Jesus. I thought the animation was older than that. It's only from 2…

An Amazing Harrem MC OP anime. It was one of my favorites to watch. And it has been the one i have rewetted 4 times now. Yes, it is that good.
Its set in a post apocalyptic world where legendary sword users fight to protect the innocent. its a great anime to enter you into the world of Harrem MC OP anime.
The pros: Storyline is good. I wish they had continued with the series after one season, but it didn't get the response Japan was hoping for (I'm guessing). The character development was also good. You wanted to see what would happen next!
Cons: Some parts of the storyline were hard to understand first time around. Unless you watch the anime 2-3 times, you won't understand some of the references. Don't get me wrong, i liked it a lot. It was just confusing at times.
Overall i rate t…

Okay so this will be my first formal review for an anime in this website and it is because of how disappointed I am after watching it.
Story 4/10
- I thought that the plot was pretty interesting as it was set in a post apocalyptic world with monsters known as contaminoids and that the you protect your moving fortress, battle with other fortresses for resources and also platoons competing against each other within the fortresses but then it starts get confusing for me, especially those scenes with really really bad English voiced scenes that was shown as a TV show in some scenes but in other episodes just appeared as if it was related but all the way till the end it had no relation at all except the fact the the female character "Saya" has the same name and character design of a girl name…

Before I review this I just want to state that this is my opinion and you may agree or disagree at your own will.
Review:
Chrome Shelled Regios was described to me as a diamond in the rough and that I should give it a shot. Let's start with the intro. The intro in my opinion fit the anime but the song itself wasn't that good. The animation was well done for the anime. Next is the characters. The MC confused me throughout the anime. I just couldn't get a feel for him. Was he supposed to be the cold, dark kinda character (for example Shiba Tatsuya) or was he supposed to be the OP but light hearted character (for example Kirito). Never the less he was a very bland character who was so over powered that every fight wasn't worth watching because you know he is going to win. That being said the…

When I watched this anime I kept getting reminded of Kaze no Stigma. I personally enjoyed Kaze no Stigma, but I know not all people share my sentiments.
I felt that both KnS and CSR were both good but not amazing, I would give them both 8's across the board in all categories.
Some other reasons why I was reminded of KnS
-Very overpowered MC
-Producer died, leaving the show somewhat incomplete
I've heard some way that the anime adaptation of CSR felt complete at the end, but I felt like there could have been more. My friend who read the manga said that the anime does not encompass the entire manga. I would have liked to see more, but I don't think there is any hope for this anime to be continued, so if you finish the show wanting more, then you have to switch to the manga.
Story 8/10…

It was inevitable for me to get a little excited to start this series. The hostile post-apocalyptic scenario, the presentation of the premise, its aesthetics and the mystery surrounding it generated expectations just during the first 10 minutes of episode one, expectations that wouldn't be (by far) reached by Chrome Shelled Regios during the rest of the show, as the development of the real plot was quickly replaced for non-contributory, mostly-boring side stories with a coarse harem inbetween.
The turn-off caused by that was comparable to that of our simpleton Layfon who is more accompanied by an insipid crew of females than by revelations about the world he lives in and serious battles, thanks to him being disproportionately powerful because of the simple fact he's the main character. So…

I'm really torn when writing this review. I feel like this anime could be absolutely amazing, because it is, and yet it isn't. For starters it needs to have about 50 more episodes. I feel like the creators intended a very long series and had to wrap everything up very quickly.
Story 6/10
The story is pretty interesting and has a lot of potential, however there were just too many plot lines brought up and left hanging. There are concepts that are simply short-lived and there are incidents that happen on the basis that it will be explained later...but they never get around to it. The whole idea of this badass kid trying to fit in like a normal person and not being able to because he's so badass is just great. But there are about fifty other things going on that tend to take away from the "…

Chrome shelled regios is a decent anime though there are areas that could be improved. It begins with a high school male character named Layfon who is apparently attending a new school. He as a dark past as an orphan who struggled in his early years and did things he regrets in order to get by. He has a past in military art buts is planning to attend school studying 'general studies' in a regios separate from the one he grew up in but is basically forced into the military division by the obstinate school president and reluctantly joins a platoon where the anime takes off from. The highlight of this anime is that it is fast paced but rarely confusing or undeveloped and there is a good amount of battles and conflict for the action enjoying viewer. The is also some comedy mixed in as well to…
