Black Summoner

Black Summoner

Introduction

To prepare for reincarnation in another world, Kelvin gives up select memories from his previous life in exchange for powerful abilities, additional skill points, and an S-class summoner title. As a bonus, the goddess facilitating his rebirth, Melfina, offers him a choice of any companion to give him a head start in his summoner role. Kelvin—who has fallen head over heels for Melfina at first sight—promptly chooses the deity, confident that his passionate feelings for her will resurface even without all of his memories. Kelvin embarks on his exciting new journey with Melfina as his guide. However, in order to summon his beloved goddess' physical form, he needs to acquire significant amounts of mana points—and the best way to accomplish this is to level up by fighting strong enemies and making contracts with even stronger companions. the art is boring and uninspired, and they use really jarring cg for this one character whenever they appear, as well as a few other minor characters. they switch the animation to this ugly, half-assed 3d style during some of the fights, sometimes switching back to 2d at random. the music is unremarkable and only serves to provide a vague sense of being in a fantasy setting. the storytelling is genuinely awful, going from a potentially interesting premise to terribly-paced events happening for no reason in particular. no particular scene feels like it has any importance, and by the end of the season, it feels like almost nothing has happened. the characters are possibly the worst part because they pretend to have depth while being shallow misogynistic props for the viewer's self-insert…

This anime is a pretty generic isekai with an overpowered protagonist. This time around, he gives up all the memories of his past life in order to gain more skill points, which is part of how he ends up overpowered. Despite not having any background I think he is a decent enough protagonist, but nothing too special. I really do like his name though, Kelvin Celsius. Its so dumb its actually kind of genius. Anyway, for the most part he’s the standard hero, but he’s also a battle junky that does pretty wild things just to fight strong foes. The writing frames this as enough to make him as somewhat of an anti-hero, but he always prioritizes doing good over his battle seeking, so that doesn’t really work all that well. He’s also technically a Summoner, but in standard OP MC isekai fashion his…

This show is one of my "guilty pleasures" and something I have no issue re-watching on occasion. Although it is not a show that rocks the boat, or adds anything particularly new to the isekai genre, following most of the tried-and-tested tropes and clichés very closely, I still find it an enjoyable experience, even now on my 4th or so re-watch of it. What I like about this show, especially compared to isekai that has aired in the 2+ years since Black Summoner released, is that each character gets ample screen-time and growth. They aren't one-note talking heads that only serve to glaze the MC at every turn; Each one has their own personality and backstory. Now yes, a lot of the main cast are women and there are obviously harem elements in this story, but the MC, at least in this season,…

In The Summoner, most of the plotlines stick closely to classic tropes, so there’s no point in breaking them down—you’re better off just watching it. Even the music fits the spirit of the show. The animation and visuals are solid too: lots of 3D, but it’s surprisingly not cringe-worthy. The fight scenes are dynamic, and there are very few static shots overall. As for the story itself, thanks to some trope tweaks and additional layers, the focus shifts to the journey of the hero and his companions. They’re all exceptional, so battles don’t pose much of a challenge—or so it seems. Speaking of the story, though, it doesn’t really have a unique hook. Sure, it’s fun to see what happens next—but just watch. I wouldn’t bother diving into the source material to find out. In terms of tone, there’…

Ok, let me start with this: my list is littered with isekai I started and didn't finish. I finished this. So that says something anyway. But there's not a whole lot about it that's special. It's just a bog standard isekai with game mechanics integrated. But, there are a few differences, that make all the difference in the world. So, instead of attempting to write a synopsis of the plot, I'll just say it's an isekai and leave it at that, this tells you everything you need to know. But as I said, the differences make all the, well, difference. First things first: this is a harem-ish isekai, but it's not ecchi. There's no flagrant and unnecessary displaying of female parts or pantsu, and what little displaying there is, is at least defensible. This is unusual for an isekai, particularly a…

The good: Standard isekai fare with a well-intentioned, min-maxer and battle enthusiast main character. Great animation and care given to the art style and details. Great action scenes that sometimes go full-cgi, but very well done and dynamic. There is a harem with low amount of fan-service, extremely respectful main character. Good development of side characters and their backstory. Some fresh ideas that make this a isekai worth watching. Disappointing: The usual cliffhanger at the end of the season that will get you reading the novels. The intro was good, but the background music during the episode didn't wow me, I couldn't find a memorable melody or battle theme. Also, I prefer when the main character picks a girl early and confesses his love, even if the rest of the harem sticks arou…

Ahhh yes trashy isekai anime, the thing that keeps on giving in the anime world. No matter the season is they always there to fill up a quarter of the list of seasonal anime. I'm late to the party on this one, I haven't heard any great things about this. I've only come across the opening and it's one of the few that I love and remember its lyric. And geez let me tell you, even if you don't like the anime, don't you dare miss this opening. It's one of the best, if not, the top tier in the world. After I've finished the anime and then went back to do some digging of the opening, it actually has lots of references to the anime. I want to do a deep dive into the opening but obviously, I don't want to do it here because this is an anime review, not some random website. So, I'll do it in my spa…

overall pretty good isekai; what surprised me the most was the animation difference in the fighting scenes. as soon as MC was fighting the animation changed pretty drastically. i liked it, had all the standard isekai tropes in it. just a nice casual watch on a friday eve. MC actually has a pretty good personality as well as most other characters. as long as you like isekai anime in general and wont get mad about sillyness or "plot armor"this will be the anime for you. nothing too special going on. why does myanimelist want more information on a review. (adding this for more characters so itll let me publish?) there isnt much else to say about the anime. cute girls; interesting boys. nice story.

First of all it's a waste of your time. If you have extra time in you hands and you want to waste it then watch this anime. The animation's trash. Specially the fight scenes. It could have been unnoticed if the fight scenes were not shit. The story will turn your brain to mush. There is no plot what so ever. The moment the protagonist faces some hardships he instantly solves them. The protagonist has plot armor thicker then any other anime protagonist out there. The character development is absent totally. The levels of the characters steadily increased without them even doing anything in the anime. Let's be real your time is your to waste but I would suggest a better way to waste it. I don't suggest any person to watch this anime. I'm a hardcore Isekai fan but still I don't like this mus…

Definitely give this anime a chance. I’m not one of those weird anime freaks or weebs that have something to say about every little thing. With that being said I think any “normal” person would like this. In fact, this is probably one of the best anime’s I’ve seen so far. I’d give it a 9 so far but it’s almost a 10 for me. MC isn’t a whack job or pervert like most anime’s. It’s an interesting and unique idea. It’s kind of like Pokémon and Sword Art Online combined. I actually think it’s better than SAO. Characters are all great. I’m really looking forward to seeing a season 2. There’s no reason why there shouldn’t be one.

This one surprised me. Normally I write of shows like this as fun time killers. Easily digestable trash, however I have to say I think this is genuinely good. The characters are fun, the plot progression is solid and the separate arcs flow together nicely. The main cast are Kelvin and (mostly) summons. The Isekai thing seems pointless at first but honestly it plays into it really well as time goes on, using it as a plot point well without it being a crutch or forgotten. The summons are the found-family which all have diverse personalities with depth and humour. I love found-family shows and this might be one of my favourites to be honest. Gerard in particular can steal the show. The anime is broken into separate arcs, all being pretty diverse but tying together well. I've been on a bing…

Kuro no Shoukanshi (Black Summoner) is interesting in the first few episodes when MC starts his new life learning the world/system and building his team/party. After that, it's flat, pretty boring, and predictable. There is not so much drama, peak, or climax. The dude is strong (just like other Isekai MCs), and he has everything (Hot goddess waifu, Elf maid, Demon princess, Imouto, etc). The Art is decent at least, girls are cute. The Animation is mediocre at best, fight scenes are just simple slashes and magic shooting, with some awkward CGI action. Voice acting is ok, Reina Ueda's sweet soothing sound fits the goddess nicely. I don't like MC's voice, it's so flat-dead. The dude doesn't get excited, hyped up, or anything. There is not much to say, It's passable if you like Isekai, Harem…

This anime was pretty boring to be honest. The saving grace was the great animation and sound quality as well as some decent voice acting. The premise was a standard, done to death reincarnation which doesn't add anything to the genre as a whole. There are isekai twists and turns, but they are neither surprising nor interesting. The MC is a classic insertion fantasy protagonist with as much personality as a potato. I truly dislike characters who are created with being a battle junkie as their only personality trait. Not only would those people die straight away but they also are constantly used as cheap plot devices and act completely illogically to suit the authors needs. It's lazy writing. Moreover, aside from the harem gotta catch em all, who he gathers for, at times, literally no oth…

Not recommended, unless you're looking for a generic isekai or you're extremely bored with nothing to watch. Kelvin trade his memories for skills but it doesn't impact him in any way. His only personality trait is being a "battle junkie", he doesn't have an objective and there's no overall plot. Kelvin is a summoner in name only he gets like 3 monsters and the rest are all girls, he could be a wizard and it wouldnt change anything. And the girls only personality trait is being in love with Kelvin, their backstories are shallow and there's no character development either. Also most of the fights are made with CGI and it doesn't look good at all.

Pretty good Overall, recommended. A pretty basic, general isekai anime with an OP MC, generally, if you know the genre you know what you're getting. MC is pretty refreshing, not quite the standard fare of an Isekai MC/ Overall setting is pretty spot on the drawing board of isekais, but if you enjoy the genre, its just unique enough to be well worth it to watch while not being so unique as to be off putting. The comedy is pretty good, not alot of the gag style comedy. Character designs are pretty good, and weapon/armor designs are very asthetically pleasing, as are the personalities of the main characters. Its not likely to be your favorite anime ever made, but its a very solid, enjoyable show.

If you're considering watching this anime, it's essential to keep in mind that it falls more into the category of mid-season filler rather than a mainstream anime title. Therefore, it's best not to have high expectations for it. Instead, view it as a show to watch when you have some free time on your hands. While it may not reach the level of popular or highly acclaimed series, it can still be a decent choice for casual entertainment *STRENGTH* 1. Now there are many Isekai animes where OP MCs are common phenomenon but this Anime is among the very few that balances the power given to the MC. 2. It is not something exceptional but each one of the characters stands out, have their own unique skills and much more which makes it interesting. 3. The story is also Good and does not make the aud…

"BLACK SUMMONER" Genre- Action, Adventure, Isekai, Magic, Fantasy. Kelvin is our reincarnated MC in this anime. With his untimely death back on Earth due to a god's mistake, he is reincarnated as an adventurer in a new world, but unlike our other MCs that remember all about their past lives, Kelvin exchanges his memories for skill points so that he can maximize his new life as an adventurer. Being an insane battle junkie that loves strong foes and new opponents, Kelvin hastily adapts to this new world. And having the skill of a summoner and a reincarnated hero that really boosts his abilities, he becomes a one-of-a-kind adventurer that really has it all. From a standard viewpoint, it is a pretty good anime that you can give a watch but, if you were to dive deep into its storyline, anima…

SEIZURE WARNING This Anime, for the major fight scenes, is computer generated by placing a 2D art style onto a 3D frame which in turn runs the risk of animation that could cause seizures. This is also a process not everyone is fond of the end product of. And that's the main reason for the mixed feelings when it comes to recommending this particular Anime and the reason for writing the review. Had this not been a factor, the seizure warning review would lean more towards recommended. On the surface, this particular Anime may appear to be a harem series. Still, in this particular case, the show tosses that on its head, for while the main character is surrounded by a harem of females, his party isn't completely a harem, but the platonic relationships he forms with his party are a primary fo…

Do you like isekai's? Do you like strong MC's? Do you like harems? If you answer yes to all 3 questions cause you're a degenerate like me, then you will surely enjoy this anime as much as I did! Okay, but seriously- I went into this isekai not expecting much, but it was way better than I thought. So a short non-spoiler introduction: this isekai follows Kelvin as he's reincarnated into a world with magic. He chooses the summor class and also exchanges all his memories for skill points, so he can have a really powerful start to his adventure. Along the way, he acquires teammates through summons, friendships, etc. and such. I think what make me like this isekai more than others is that they were able to expand into the world and storyline so much in 12 episodes. At times it did feel a bit…

This is one of the better isekai. It has just a few minor flaws, but overall is very entertaining and fun to watch. Main character is a unique take on a Warlock class from WoW. Except he is kind of a good Summoner, more of a Mage/Hunter/Warlock hybrid. He has a harem of several cute waifu material girls. I personally like Efil but if you are into a different type then Mel, Sera or Rion will probably work for you. Story is somewhat interesting, not as good as Tokyo Ghoul and far from any show I rank, 8 or above, but also not entirely messed up like Futoku Guild, Akiba Maid Wars or Harem in Labyrinth. It has interesting plot twists here and there to keep your entertained even if just waifu harem isekai fact is not enough for you to watch it. Overall it is one of the better shows of the c…
