My Isekai Life: A Promising Story Held Back by a Weak Adaptation
My Isekai Life (Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life) is an interesting example of an anime adaptation that feels considerably weaker than the potential of its source material.
At first glance, the series has many of the ingredients of an enjoyable fantasy adventure: an intriguing world, powerful monsters, mysterious artifacts, dragons, magic, and a protagonist with unusual abilities. The manga and light novel have plenty of material to work with, and the franchise itself has achieved impressive circulation.
Unfortunately, the anime often fails to communicate that potential effectively.
Story and Potential — 8/10
The underlying story is one of the strongest aspects of My Isekai Life.
There are several intriguing mysteries surrou…

Good looking and fair animation.
It's an isekai but the motives of his being in this world are obscured until later.
He compares his previous usual lifestyle and his now fantasy lifestyle which was dissent of friendship only trusting his tamed mobs initially.
Well, I wouldn't blame him for it besides the slime companions are cute looking and funny to listen to.
Combat scenes seemed cool and all.
But what I didn't like is the fact that despite learning millions of "skills" he keeps using the same thing over and over.
The author may have lots of imagination but they sure cut corners.

There are two kinds of Isekai shows, Tier 1 shows with something interesting or unique to bring to the genre, and slop shows that solely rely on the genre's conventions to hold their audiences. This show is a slop Isekai. I know it, you know it, so if you already know that you don't like Isekai slop then I don't really think you need to watch this. As far as Isekai slop goes, I think this is one of the better ones. The slimes are fun, and have a charm to them that most other slime characters in second tier Isekai shows about tamers simply don't have. The wolf is also a fun character.
The plot is very basic and isn't particularly interesting in its own right, but seeing the main character and his slimes come up with solutions to the problems they face is quite fun, and the show's action s…

This show is sub-par in almost every aspect. The villains are either unintelligent monsters, bandits, or the BMC; the plot is repetitive (new town to BMC pipeline), the characters are all generic and forgettable aside from the priest. Don't expect intriguing writing, perhaps the most interesting choice is the deal with the priest and all the shenanigans happening in the background that we learn about when Yuji finds out, but other than that it is a plain and boring show. The visuals are inbetween astounding and attrocious—there is a heavy reuse of many animations used in different scenarios (the left-facing arm swipe as he opens his dashboard for example). It really tries to be hype but takes you out of the experience all too often. Many times the visual spectacle actually works and for th…

It's just so generic, the characters feel lifeless, and the story doesn't do anything unexpected. I watched this dubbed, and got thorugh most of it while doing doing other things, but I got to the last episode and halfway through I stopped and didn't finish it off for like a month after. That can tell you how interesting the plot is.
The main character is very overpowered, but always downplays it as you'd expect. The show is basically everyone being surprised they are strong. I did think the slimes were cute. It kinda just throws you in when they are already set up, but goes over the backstory a bit during future episodes.
I took such a long break, I don't remember too many parts of the plot. So I can say it's not memorable I guess. Don't recommend if unless you've run out of other fanta…

It’s hard to tell whether the art style was meant to pay homage to older anime or simply reflects a limited budget. At times, it feels oddly refreshing, yet overall it comes across as visually underwhelming. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t offer much to compensate—the plot is shallow, and even the protagonist seems disengaged from the events unfolding around him.
Despite being portrayed as a powerful lone wolf who wants to keep a low profile, the main character lacks any meaningful connections, which makes the world around him feel empty. The side stories are equally thin and unengaging, all orbiting a central arc that fails to spark real interest or development.
If you're struggling to fall asleep, this anime might do the trick. It's uneventful, bland, and populated with forgettable ch…

This anime feels like completing side quests in an MMORPG—an experience that’s more about filling time than offering anything meaningful. The dialogue and voice acting often have awkward pauses or broken rhythms, which can be distracting and take away from the overall immersion. It’s as if the characters are speaking in a way that doesn’t flow naturally, making it harder to connect with the story. The lack of storytelling depth and meaningful character progression is also noticeable. Events happen without much purpose, and the plot unfolds in a way that feels shallow and disconnected. There’s no real emotional investment, and the characters don’t evolve in any significant way. Everything just seems to happen for the sake of moving forward rather than offering any substantial growth or expl…

The anime adaption did not do the manga justice. They changed too many things and it felt very rushed.
The story should actually begin with him being isekaied, and how he got his skills. But the anime just starts in the middle of nowhere with no explanation. How is people who never read the manga even supposed to follow?
The MC is too cold in the anime. Like he should be cold, and with an attitude of not really giving a f**k, but in a more comical way. In the anime the comical vibe is kinda gone.
Some of the events and minor characters also changed. For example, in the manga Lodis was supposed to be a real jerk and shady. But in the anime he appears like a gentleman and good leader, like wtf? I mean, he is a minor character but changes like these just changes the whole experience.
So y…

There's been a bit too many Isekai shows popping up lately, and sadly this one is just like the rest.
To be direct, the personality of the MC is one of those nonexpressive types.
He remains calm and composed regardless of the situation, whether it is a good or bad interaction.
Sometimes it works but in this anime, it does not.
As someone who reads the manga with good approval, this is not a good adaption.
You only need to watch a few episodes to get a feeling the pacing is rushed.
The story, events, action scenes, and characters seem to be jumping around so quickly you wonder what exactly is going on.
To add to this, the MC's dull expression does not help as there isn't enough time spent to explain or portray why he acts like this.
Since he is someone who does not react to "anything," it…

This was a very disappointing anime, considering it had so much potential to be a good story. The plot is very basic yet keeps you somewhat engaged. I found myself begging for more dialog and characters with more depth. The animation itself was okay. I read another comment saying the manga was not done justice by this anime and I totally understand it. I wasn’t expecting much, but the anime just left me wondering why they ruined a potentially good anime. I would love a second season just to see if they can improve it. Nice to watch if you just want to chill or are a fan of typical isekai trash.

TLDR: This Anime is the textbook definition of mediocrity.
The show starts off with MC doing generic MC stuff with little to info on whether or not Truck-kun isekaied him. When we were graced with how he's so powerful, it's so lame they only refence that skill once again and it wasn't even useful. And the rest of the show is plot Armor. The end. You could watch 2 episodes side by side at 2x and not miss anything but if you did, just put some random generic isekai trope and you've missed nothing. The fights we, "oh no. this overpowered monster will destroy the village. I have to save everyone" and then he wins without breaking a sweat. If this was one of those shows to which you just switch of your brain to enjoy, I might have given it a 6, but this didn't even try for that.
So why nota 3…

"Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life: Dai-2 no Shokugyou wo Ete, Sekai Saikyou ni Narimashita" follows the story of a reincarnated sage who gains a second chance at life in a fantasy world and embarks on a journey to attain the ultimate strength and power. Through his newfound abilities and experiences, he strives to become the strongest being in the world.
I would define My Isekai Life as a chill anime with an easy-to-follow storyline and more relaxed approach but it doesn’t lack bumps on the round and fights. Considering this has more “Not Recommended” reviews than it deserves – you need to go into this anime with a certain expectation and that is – it won’t deliver bloodsheds and it won’t deliver some crazy protagonist who wishes to rain over everyone just for the sake of it.
Story 8/10

I’m gonna keep it a buck fifty with you, chief. This is dogshit. There’s no other way to put it.
First of all, there was no need for this to be an isekai whatsoever. Throughout the show, you’ll get vague flashback images indicating that the protagonist was an office worker in his past life, and he felt some type of way about it. One could call that ‘subtle storytelling’, but we have a word for that kind of subtle storytelling in English. It’s called uninspired and generic.
Second, the dude’s name is Yuji. Shut the fuck up.
Third, bro gets reincarnated into the fantasy world as a Tamer, the weakest class, only to then acquire the secondary class of Sage, making him the world’s strongest. In principle, that could be the set-up for a fairly interesting hero’s journey, much like Arifureta,…

Ok, normally I just rate really bad anime and then move on, but this anime was something else. I like the isekai genre and even watch the most generic ones, but this is lower than low. I had the urge to punch my screen while I watched the episodes and it isn‘t even worth my time, talking about everything that was appaling. There was no logic, the main plot felt like some side plot, the mc has no personality etc. Why implement showing the mana amount when just ignoring it. It felt like just a random number that was rolled with a random number generator. There are more plotholes than plot because there is none really. The amount of them in the fight against the BBEG is just laughable if not just sad. Only a true master could fit this many in such a small amount of time. I just finished it, s…

Good anime are either carried by good plot, or good characters. This has neither. I would not recommend this anime and that's coming from someone who actually enjoys generic isekai anime usually.
It's a little saddening to note the character with the least personality... is actually the MC. Honestly the best part of entire eps are just the wholesomeness of the slimes. That's it. Yuji has as much personality as a rock... He's near emotionless as well
The animation is fine in a couple eps but the majority of the season it was below par.
The plot is beyond even 'generic' and falls into 'just bad' territory. It's not even fleshed out enough to be generic. It's like being handed lemonade, but when you taste it you realize it's really water with a hint of lemon

This anime is poorly executed, and way too formulaic. Overall, I'm really dissapointed with how the plot has been made to flow so poorly, and with how bland the MC is. Just so we are clear, Isekai has an especially low bar on MCs, yet this anime somehow manages to cross that border.
Overall (6 / 10)
Story (4 / 10)
Very repetitive. The general plot every single episode is as follows: Go to place > place in danger > save place > leave place discreetly > repeat
The way we're dumped into the story also makes it really hard to enjoy the plot flow. There are only 12 episodes. This isn't like pokemon or One Piece, where this level of repetitiveness is acceptable.
Characters (6 / 10)
The side characters and antagonists are quite good. They do their job perfectly, and are quite reasonable overal…

"My Isekai Life" navigates the well-trodden path of the isekai genre, offering a narrative that, while not groundbreaking, manages to surpass the mediocrity often associated with generic isekai anime. It doesn't redefine the genre, but it does a commendable job of delivering a somewhat more polished and engaging experience compared to its counterparts.
The anime's protagonist, while fitting the mold of a strong and determined character, doesn't necessarily break new ground. However, the execution is competent, offering a character that is relatable and authentic enough to keep viewers invested. It doesn't stray far from the familiar isekai formula, but it doesn't stumble over its own clichés either.
It introduces a novel concept with the sense and skill-sharing mechanic involving pets. W…

After watching this show in a day I would describe this show as an average isekai anime but a really bad one at most. The character gets isekaied to another world and is pretty much an OP sage. He goes on to defeat many foes such as monsters and dragons. The MC has no character development at all and has no emotions and he doesn't even have a background. This shows that this anime was poorly written and is pretty much a waste of time.
Characters 2/10: The MC didn't have any emotions or personalities to be likable and the supporting characters were bland they did not stand out and were just there.
Art/Animation 7/10: The animation and art style is good at least.
Story 2/10: The story goes nowhere and is a snooze fest generic story.
Sounds/Soundtrack 6/10: Average music.
Overall 4/10:…

I just wanted to watch some good isekai man... But NANDE?!?
This anime is what you get if you;
give a 12yo that loves Isekai money to make an anime; and this is what you would get.
Story: Random dev gets isekai'd and gets op stats. in a very underwhelming manner.
Animation/Art: Extremely Basic. Best way to explain would be : "Not bad;Not good kinda average".
Charachters: Funny how the side Charachters seemed more interesting then the MC. They don't even explain how he got isekai'd. What i liked: the slimes + the dryad was well designed.
My main acc got hacked and this is my first review, apologies for any mistakes.

I am flabbergasted to see how many people chose "not recommended" option for this great anime. As I understand it, there is a manga version, and people who read it think it did injustice to the chapters which showed where Yuji came from. However, I didn't read the manga and I believe everyone is capable of understanding where the main character came from with the very few scenes in which we understand Yuji was working at a modern office, is well acquainted with computers before he became a tamer in isekai.
Now, coming to the main issue, Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life is a fun anime. It does not have any political, ideological, philosophical messages. The story just tells it is good to be nice and it is good to have a team you can depend on. It aims at providing good entertainment to viewers…
