I’m ngl so many of these reviews are just making myanimelist ratings in general so inaccurate. A lot of people are probably new to anime and are really messing up the review system. This anime is pretty good and I’d give it a 7.5. It’s nice and snappy and i love the whole isekai overpowered MC genre. This sort of anime isn’t meant to be an elaborate storyline which people leaving ratings don’t understand. It’s meant to be snappy and limited story wise because it’s a short series. Anyways I do welcome all new anime watchers but please don’t leave a rating because you’re ruining the whole system. It still blows me away that witch hat atelier has an 8.3 rating when it is genuinely the worst anime I’ve watched in my entire life. Additionally I don’t understand how frieren has 9.3 rating when d…

Before describing why I have mixed feelings about this cliché, I would like to ask one question: Why on earth did any of you actually sit through this? It's commonly known that if an anime rates a 7 or below out of 10 on this site, it's most likely bad. Terribly bad. You shouldn't even look into it. So why? If you ask me, my answer is easy: I just wanted to watch a brainless cliché isekai with a monogamous romance subplot. I wouldn't care if there wasn't world-building or good character dynamics. I just wanted to put all those things aside and watch 12 episodes of clichés. Even so, these people managed to get me bored somehow!
All things aside, these kinds of productions make us understand the value of those isekai anime called "mid" by some people, such as "Re:Zero" or "Mushoku Tensei."…

This show lacks direction; it's ass.
The romance in this show is laughable. Why would they dedicate so much time to the romance between Shin and Sicily when they don't do anything special with it? They probably wasted ~3 episodes' worth of time because of them. Their relationship is so stale and cliché that EVERY interaction between them follows this formula:
1. "I love you so much!😁 "
2. They get flustered
3. Someone makes a joke about them
There is no way they thought this would take priority over developing the side characters and the overall story. They face ZERO hardships together. With the only "problem" being "Siciwy is just a cwute wittle baby who doesn't know shes in wuv with Shin! 🥺." And after they "deal" (they straight up gloss over that issue) with that, they get married…

Generic, right?
Just another generic isekai anime. That is probably the best way to sum up Kenja no Mago. It’s the kind of show you start without high expectations, watch casually, enjoy for a few episodes, and then simply move on with your life once it’s over. It isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s far from being remarkable or memorable.
The story follows Shin, a young man who, after dying in our world, reincarnates into a fantasy realm and is raised by Merlin, one of that universe's greatest mages. Naturally, having been trained by someone so powerful while retaining knowledge from his past life, Shin becomes absurdly strong. From there, we get practically all the genre's classic elements: an overpowered protagonist, a fantasy world, magic, romance, a group of friends, an academy setting,…

I first watched this quite a few years ago and I remember having given it a ~7 rating but I mostly forgot it, so I decided to rewatch. I don't like it, and I almost quit after ~6 episodes. I think the only reason this has a ~6.6 rating (instead of ~6) is because it's skewed by the old reviews/ratings from back when the genre was a bit less crowded, and because people would hurry to rate it. Let's do some meta-analysis.
In the 20 oldest reviews of this anime, we have 9 negative (45%), 5 mixed (25%), and 6 positive (30%), and almost all of them were written after just 3-4 episodes. In the 20 newest reviews (not including mine!), we have 13 negative (65%), 5 mixed (25%), and only 2 positive (10%) and only 5 are preliminary (1 mixed, 4 negative). Clearly new watchers dislike the show more tha…

Overview what to expect if you wanna waste time on this:
Another sloppy isekai with an op mc. The enemies are boring and we get a tiny bit of romance. The only good thing i could say is the animation quality makes it watchable, but i don't want to keep watching this a single more episode even if they really decided to waste money to continue this story. Why is there so many bad writers in general when the bar is so low? Or maybe the target audience is the same recycled slop enjoyers :D
Personally i wouldn't recommend this to anyone i know.

There is nothing here, do not watch this. I have spent far too much of my life watching all of the isekai anime, to catalogue and categorize the different levels of bad that can be achieved within this genre. Alas, it's official. This one has broken me. From the mystery plot constantly being solved by random ass-pulls, to the political maneuvering being nonsensical and boring, and finally every woman in this show being literally less three dimensional than a photograph somehow. This is uniquely bad; 0/10 worse than season 2 of GATE taking the top slot of worst isekai i've ever watched

Wise Man’s Grandchild starts off strong and tricks you into thinking you’re about to watch something decent. The setup is interesting, the power fantasy is there, and expectations are high… for about five episodes.
After that, it becomes painfully obvious the author has no idea where the story is going. The plot doesn’t move forward — it just exists. Conflicts appear, get instantly solved, and then we’re back to dragging things out like there’s a word quota to meet.
And let’s talk about the isekai “twist.” The main character supposedly has memories from his previous life, but you’d never know it. Those memories don’t affect his personality, decisions, or worldview in any meaningful way. Remove the isekai element and absolutely nothing changes. Peak wasted potential.
Characters are bland…

Please Bring a second season to this show. It just ended like there should be a sequel. I love this show and would like to know what happens next!!! I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who likes this type of anime. It is unique in its own way but i don't know if it is predictable, i did enjoy it all the way to the end. All the characters were well-rounded. I don't know what that really means. They were all very funny. I do hope that people will like this show. Please watch and enjoy this funny anime.

If you like power fantasy isekai this is the place.
If you want a super intriguing plot, interesting characters then skip. You will not enjoy this.
Plot is ass, characters are mid, the fights are pretty dece, but it just makes the power system pretty fun. It is a classic power fantasy isekai, and its really fun at being that. Ive watched it multiple times, and tbf a good few times I just watch it till like episode 8 as I dont care for the plot, but the magic and all that is fun.
I dont think theres any super memorable characters, but its a classic situation where everyone is pretty inoffensive, and enjoyable at the right time.

This is an isekai powerfantasy, if that's what you're into then you'll probably like this anime. If you aren't then there's really no reason to watch this.
The story is: Man dies, gets reincarnated in a fantasy world, gets adopted and taught magic and sword fighting by the most talented wizards and a sword master, becomes the best at magic in the world and then attends magic school. The main quirk of the story is that the main character, while extremely skilled in magic, has no normal life skills and, because he was raised away from society, does not understand how much stronger he is than the rest of the world. Ironically enough the fact that this is an isekai detracts from this quirk because the anime establishes that the main character retained the memories from his previous life and…

This show can be best described by the phrase "mid". There are a few things it does well enough to not be seen as bad, however it fails to deliver on anything that would make it memorable or interesting and justify someone paying attention to it.
The art is bland and unoffensive, featuring the same fantasy world of almost every other single-season Isekai. The MC also does many of the stereotypical "god gamer" OP skills which quickly become commonplace among the rest of the cast.
The characters are relatively bland, we have a variety of pretty boys and normal guys, a buff dude, a few busty women and a few flat chested women who appear to have almost all of their unique personality based on these traits. Such flat characters are comforting if you are looking for a simple show, so I believe…

Truck-kun strikes again with yet another copy-paste isekai.
Kenja no Mago is one of the many uninspired entries in an already oversaturated genre. At this point, most viewers have stopped expecting originality—but is it too much to ask for something watchable?
The story follows your typical reincarnated protagonist who gets hit by a truck (of course), wakes up in a magical world, becomes overpowered, and joins a troop of side characters who aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. He enrolls in a magic school where, surprise, everyone is amazed by his godlike powers, and from there it’s a rinse-and-repeat of fighting generic demons and “saving the world.”
What’s baffling is how little his past life matters. There’s almost no screen time or depth given to his previous existence, whi…

This anime has nothing special or unique that you can't find anywhere else. The main character, Shin, is way too overpowered; his flaw is that he doesn't always get social conventions or whatever, but it's not even that big of a hindrance for him as a character. None of the friends have anything overly special about them and their characters don't grow personality-wise. One of the major settings is a school but no teaching by teachers ever takes place and it just seemed dumb to introduce it if you aren't going to use it for anything; seems like a waste. The lead girl has a shy and awkward thing going on but no personality is built outside of Shin. None of the friends have anything to them except for August but even his character isn't explored and he's just kinda the prince. The show has f…

Dry, annoying, irredeemable slop. It started out okay but got progressively more irritating. If there was ever a criticism of an blank slate OP MC you would have to level it at this one. Instead of world building, character building, story building, most of the places are taken up by sappy compliment laden scenes that do nothing but spin its wheels, if that. I had to skim the last 2 episodes because I had given up on any kind of payout. The motivation, if you could call them that, of the antagonist, if you could call him that, were contradictory and meaningless. Considering how OP the MC is, you'd think it would have moments where it would be fun. Instead, he'll pose and drag his feet and half-ass it so the baddie can run away for next week's episode. It could have been a series of still p…

Ends on Cliffhanger! Be aware, although the anime itself is a satisfying, classic isekai, it did not gain enough traction to develop a sequel. It has been some years now, and there is little doubt that the anime will stay where it has ended.
Now, if that does not warrant any hesitation, then I must say it is a simple and feel-good anime. The only critiques would be Shin's lack of supposed overpowering usage in real fights that mattered. He can do a lot more, but the anime inadvertently gives the enemies plot armor for some time due to induced tension and drama. Nevertheless, it wouldn't have been that bad if it did not end on a cliffhanger.
I insist any potential watchers realize the cliffhanger is there, and that it is quite a big one that leaves the watchers unsatisfied since there a…

So to preface Kenja no Mago is a show which I have seen over 30x since it aired (I do not understand the rewatch mechanic on MAL).
Kenja no Mago is a somewhat unoriginal isekai that has fun with what it is. Starting with the MC, hes a bit thick skulled and not the most aware of what is and is not normal which the show plays with a lot specifically in regards to power and romance, but the people and world around him in general. The main appeals of KnM would be similar to shows such as Misfit of DK Academy and similar where he outclasses everyone by a longshot, and gets the girl he wants (wish more anime would let the MC have the girl but yk). How it differs from the shows it mimics / shares a lot with is that the focus is less on his individual power and progression, and moreso on him bring…

I have never been this type of person. The one to say, " Read the manga." Mostly because I didn't really read enough manga. However, after watching this show, I really wanted to read the manga so know what happens next. Well, after catching up with the manga, I had to re-score this adaptation. Like they really didn't do the manga justice at all. I believe season one covers the first 15 chapters but there is only like four chapters worth of information in this anime. I wouldn't be made except that this whole anime was rushed. Like Gus's attendence. In the mange, there's this whole thing about meeting them but in the anime, they just pop out of nowhere. Also, Shin's speech was cut right at the beginning but there is some actual good content in there that gets reference later in the world. I…

I came back here after watching the iseleve anime, I just wanted to raise the rating of this anime a little above the anime. because after I watched Iseleve, I realized there are anime out there that are much more cringe than this anime. in terms of story, I think this anime is better than Iseleve, it's just that in terms of visuals, I think it's lacking. indeed, today's isekai anime has a strange and cringe story, almost all isekai anime that I have met today have a story that can be said to be almost the same.
but the conclusion to this anime is of course, CRINGE

“Wise Man's Grandchild” is what happens when You let the most basic story about an OP hero marinade in cliche sauce.
The main plot is painfully generic. A background NPC of a salary man gets killed in a dumb way by truck-kun (and this time is really stupid, not saving anyone, the dude just got lost in thought and walked on a red light, on a crossing) and isekai’d to a fantasy world. After being reborn he’s found among the corpses of his family by a powerful mage who decides to adopt him. What follows is a vanilla story about an OP AF teenage mage, who could basically solo the whole world but is too much of a goody two shoes to do anything that would require a real ambition or personality. He becomes a hero, gets a fiance and creates an elite unit of other OP mages who he trains. Basically…
