The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? is more isekai slop that could've been peak but was off by a mile. The story premise sounds like another repeating isekai trope, and to an extent, it is. However, it had the potential to take things in a different direction. The political aspects and the struggle over the throne could've taken the anime to the next level. Unfortunately, the writing felt overly rushed, leaving a lot to be desired in both the story and worldbuilding. There were some genuinely interesting ideas here, but they never got the time or development they needed to reach their full potential. Character development, on the other hand, wasn't bad at all. I quite enjoyed the premise of the party and the direction the characters were going in. The problem is that the anime needed more e…

They were right to put are you kidding me in the title. That's just how I felt as I watched the show plummet. I genuinely was liking the first episodes. By no means were they special or anything we haven't seen before from an Isekai but it was still comfy. That is, until I got halfway through the show. The random turn around from his female friends becoming concubines within minutes? Oh yeah, that's obviously something to just go into before thinking, hey maybe I could be a bodyguard or something else. That's just downright insulting to women. Not to mention these characters are what, 14 at this point in time? I understand that concubines were 'normal' in history but by no means were they widely accepted by other women, which his newfound wife was on board with? It had nothing to do with…

i First watched this anime over 5 years ago and absolutely hated it dropped in the 8th eposidode and was left bored and annoyed when i grew older as i saw clips on You tube a thought popped into my head maybe my taste in anime changed so i watch this anime i originally gave it a 5 and ya that was defiently harsh don't get me wrong it has sooooooo many flaws especially pasting being to fast and moments feeling like it could of used a extra eposide just so we can have more moments with the charcter or the arc, in terms of character growth/ moments it feels non existent for most important characters minus the mc, the saint and that one moment with the blond guy but i would be lying if i said this anime was boring because it has some really interring ideas that i haven't see befor in other ani…

Keeping it plain and simple: if you’re used to low-budget isekai, this is exactly that, nothing more, nothing less. Of course it has more CGI than VR, and it looks awful. The MC is ridiculously overpowered, to the point that he has no rivals even at five years old. Naturally, he also ends up with a party that’s almost entirely girls. Battle scenes have barely any animation, mostly moving PNG, and the way magic is portrayed looks like it was drawn by a child. Furthermore, the MC has heavy plot armor if something can go wrong, it won’t. Everything just ends up working out for him, which removes any real sense of tension or emotion. On the other hand, the plot is actually pretty solid (considering it’s an isekai and follows many of the usual subgenre clichés), and the character designs are…

This is about as generic as you can get. It's merely handwaving and going through the motions in 12 episodes -- discovering magic, going to a special academy, forming a party/harem, fighting a few battles, participating tournament, etc. All stuff that you've seen before if you've watched this style of stuff for very long. On the downside, the protagonist and most of the supporting cast are all quite boring. They're bland, uninspired, and don't have enough time to establish personalities to make themselves interesting. I think part of that is due to the stilted pacing. There are many scene transitions that imply a lot of details happen offscreen, and there are several rather jarring timeskips forward. Most shows would at least have the wherewithal to have a quick montage to even things out…

Getting the obvious out of the way, isekai treatment animation. Not only that , but i skimmed through the damn manga and i gotta say, this studio took an obscene ammount of liberties. Although the fights are just slightly better in most cases. The story... well, it's hardly anything special, but to pass the time you could pick out much worse. It would've been far more intresting if they kept him poor and had him struggle with finances for at least half of this show, and made it a contrast between his skill as a magician and how he lives in squalor and stuff. Since the anime also skips through plenty of detail,i can't figure how much it affects the characters since im not invested enough to read the whole story after watching most of it. But in this show, they are very undeveloped. Same go…

“The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?” reminded me of “I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability” at the beginning. However, they took different paths after a couple of episodes. The 8th Son turned into a slice of life, friendship and adventure focussed anime with its overpowered main character. Still, when I compare the two, the approach to the subject matter they ring similar and for sure, 8th Son was released 3 years prior to the 7th Prince. There are issues with animation quality, the drawings are like from a decade ago as another commentator pointed out. Moreover, at points, we just see the same scenery over and over again to make us understand things are happening at the same place or there are scenes with very slow camera motion with next t…

enter the ranks of the best isekai anime, why? + Isekai, comedy, harem, overpowered MC + born from poor nobles + build magic power and adventure + achieve and get titles and gifts from the kingdom seeing people's reactions to the achievements of the MC is satisfying for me. getting a noble title, pursuing a career in the nobility, to becoming the best. managing the territory. the drawback of this anime is the very bad fighting scenes, that's what made me give it an 8 out of 10, if the fighting scenes were there and good maybe I would give it a higher score, maybe the cause is the MC who is not very good at physical strength. I'm really looking forward to the latest season, I got a little story spoiler that the MC will be even better and get many wives, so I can't wait for it.

The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? Rating: 5/10 Sometimes, you stumble across an anime with a title so bizarre it immediately grabs your attention. The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? is exactly that kind of show—quirky, intriguing, and full of potential. Unfortunately, while it starts strong, it quickly loses its way, leaving you with a mix of frustration and faint amusement. The Premise: Off to a Good Start The story begins with Shingo Ichinomiya, a modern-day office worker, waking up in the body of Wendelin, a young boy in a fantasy world. Sounds familiar, right? It’s yet another isekai, but this time with a twist: Wendelin isn’t the hero of a prophecy or the heir to a great kingdom—he’s the eighth son of a struggling noble family. This setup had so much promise, hinting at a refreshing un…

Is the story of anime with an isekai theme but there is no development in the isekai genre, only focusing on developing characters from poor nobles and also the eighth child. The art style is quite good from how the characters are depicted, which in my opinion is not mainstream The character development is quite monotonous, where we are presented with characters who have been OP's since they were little, typical of isekai anime characters in general. As for the character side, I think it's quite interesting, especially here we are presented with my waifu, Elise Chan, hahahaha. My rating for this anime is around 7/10 that's all

Is this anime really from 2020? Are we sure? It uses graphics from 20 years ago… The CGI in this anime is bad, low-quality, and overused… In some scenes, the video seems to freeze; it’s as if they only added sound in the background or think that zooming in and scrolling left and right constitutes animation. They seem to be avoiding real work. The opening and ending are so bad; it screams that this is not a work worth giving more than a 2 out of 10. There’s no depth in the characters, the action scenes are terrible, the OST is very bad Every time I hear that disgusting high-pitched voice of the blue-haired loli, I want to punch her in the face. It’s a production lacking in comedy. All the characters, including the main character, have the brain of a 12-year-old, regardless of how old they…

This show is an "Isekai"? Are you kidding me? "The 8th son? Are you kidding me?" was quite a pleasant surprise in contrast to its overall rating. This show is very underrated. I believe it sits firmly in the top half of most of the "isekai" genre. It was quite funny at times as well as interesting. It will seem, on the surface, your average, boring, played out "isekai" but the deeper it goes, the more it intrigues you as it ushers you into more nuanced parts of it's world quite splendidly. The story is a very strange mix of brilliant moments, concepts, and shortcomings all with utterly terrible pacing. They end up off-screening important moments butchering entire arcs resulting in wasted potential all around. The show presents initially with a pseudo-episodic structure of the plot, m…

Wow, this was a pretty long trailer. Where's the anime tho? Okay, jokes aside. The story is bland, mediocre, already seen, and rushed: there are some compelling characters and plots, like that of the MC's magic tutor or his older brother and family, but again, rushed as it is, they're not developed enough to save an otherwise generic, below-average isekai. Furthermore, the animation is mediocre, the CGI terrible, the music is uninspired (the OP is pain-up horrible), and, in general, the production value feels low. What can I say? Watch it if you have nothing else to watch - the first 3-4 episodes might even give you some feels. But don't expect anything.

“The 8th son” is what happens when You have no imagination, no original ideas and was force fed the most generic, middle of the road fantasy anime in existence for the first two decades of Your life. One day a young office worker dies after completing a hard day of work. It’s never stated outright but we can easily assume that karoshi claimed another victim. He wakes up in the body of a 5 year old boy. The seven years he spends on understanding his new environment and training in magic, which is a rather rare skill in this world. Due to events, mostly, beyond his control, he gets dragged in a number of political plays and even becomes a key figure in a political move that will determine the future of not only his house but the whole region where it resides. I’m going to say it out right…

If you have seen **The World of Otome Games is Tough For Mobs**, this will feel almost exactly the same. Powerful MC coming to an academy, but rising in noble rank while dealing with a little bit of aristocratic politics here and there. a little bit of family drama. This is just another rehash of the same isekai story with a different setting (eg: being eigth son of a poor noble, no game stuff like in otome anime etc..). Basically OP MC gathering girls, rising ranks, being "nice" and stuff. Absolute mediocrity from start to finish. The academy parts starts in episode 3, so just watch until then and see if you like it.

I am a hardcore isekai fan. I will even sit through really bad Isekai just to get my fix. However, this anime is really really bad. It's sad because the story is a really good story. However,it feels like the production team was like, "Make this anime, here's 10,000 yen. Air date is in two weeks." The anime runs WAY to fast. So much so that I was confused half way on what was happen. All the side characters have no depth at all. And even the CGI enemies were so bad, I couldnt care less who won. It's really sad that a story like this got so little production. The only great part about this anime is the last three episodes. The sorry is steady and actual well done. However, because the first nine episodes being so bad, it basically overshadows the good of the last three episodes. I really ho…

Every other isekai is better than this. Everything in this series is subpar, the characters (design and story), are all generic and bland. Cardboard cur outs, disposable. Easily replacable by characters from better series, even from different genres. Completely unmemorable. The animation seems cheap, like the went over budget for the first two episodes. The plot lacks any sort of drama because by the half way mark he's so rich and powerful he has no rivals. I feel this was worse than Isekai Cheat Magician. In that series they didn't suddenly "earn" their powers. Nor did they coincidence their way into a harem. But they did have struggles and doubts that added to the drama. Wendelin has self doubt, but everyone else, including the viewer, knows he's more powerful than Anos Voldigoad. But I…

There appears to be an overabundance of isekai anime lately. Like, we can't go a season without at least one popping up. Though I do usually like isekai anime there were still some that are not so great. This one is one of them. In fact, when I started this series I ended up dropping it because I wasn't really enjoying it. Only really picked it back up while watching Wiseman's Grandson at the same time. Partly since they seem to have simular elements and I wanted to compare them. If I were to make a list and rank all the isekai anime I've seen so far this one would probably be near the bottom of the list. It isn't a bad series. It just isn't great.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! Or in English, The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? Is yet another entry in an endless stream of cliché Isekai anime that have come out of the woodworks ever since Sword Art Online became popular. Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! Is considered bottom of the barrel in terms of Isekai, but in all honesty, it wasn’t that bad. It certainly wasn’t good, but neither was it as terrible as the numerous negative reviews here make it out to be. At worst, it was solidly mediocre and likely would have received plenty of fans had it not been marred by the Isekai taint. I originally began reading the manga before the anime adaptation was announced and thought more or less the same of it then, but I have to admit that the adaptation does a fantastic job of bringing the st…

This is the first review I have ever dared to write. It is also coming as I begin to properly populate my past viewings of Anime so it won't appear at a time when my profile looks worthy of writing reviews. However, this is an Isekai Anime, and if there is any Anime I can review; that particular genre is absolutely one of them. This is my attempt to be as spoiler-free as possible, though you will probably not lose out much here if you are spoiled. The fact this anime has a rating above a 4 is appalling! The reality is, with as critical a mindset as I can bring myself to give... They avoid many of the things that make an Isekai good. The most important thing, I feel, about an Isekai is seeing the individual growth of the people surrounding the MC (Main Character), and the connections those…
