Love Hina

Introduction

As a child, Keitarou Urashima made a promise to enter Tokyo University with a girl and be together with her. Now, at 20 years old, he has failed the required exam twice, leaving him disappointed and unsure about his future. One day, when Keitarou receives a call from his grandmother who tends to an inn, he believes that moving out will be a chance to focus on his studies. However, as Keitarou arrives at the building, he discovers that it has been transformed into an all-girls dormitory! Residing currently are five girls: Naru Narusegawa, a smart girl also trying to enroll in Tokyo University; Mitsune Konno, a mischievous and carefree freelance writer; Kaolla Su, an energetic engineer; Shinobu Maehara, a timid girl trying to fit in; and Motoko Aoyama, an earnest kendo enthusiast, each with their own opinion about Keitarou's arrival. Despite the harsh initial welcome, Keitarou becomes the manager of the building. Starting a new chapter in his life, he begins to learn more about the girls and their quirks, while not forgetting his ultimate goal—reuniting with the girl from his childhood. By grace. I'm disappointed, I thought that older anime would be better than the newer and newest ones, that they would have a pinch of originality and something that would make them different from the others, but I was wrong. I stepped into the same shit again and I have to say that I didn't enjoy it, I went with the idea that it would be great, a scary comedy that would surprise me, but as soon as I saw the MC and the rest of the girls, I immediately remembered a few not-so-old anime where the characters were the same, so it was a pain to watch. Especially when I saw the women as if they were fiddling with something. The anime is 90% focused on beating up the MC who always flies away and ep. which mostly don't try to do anything more serious, mostly it's unimportant things where they inv…

This really is a blast from the past for me, it was one of the entry romcom anime for me back in the day. I rewatched it, and it still holds great. Frankly, it's better than 90% of romcom animes that came out during the last 20 years. This is practically Konosuba of romcom anime, because just like Konosuba does not take isekai genre seriously, but instead gives you a ton of wacky fun - so does Love Hina but with romcom. Another decent comparison would be Kaguya-sama - 90% of the show instead is silly fun that works rather than drama and heartbreaks, while the remaining 10% are the touching moments and relationship progression. You get a very basic story and premise, a great cast and a ton of wacky fun. And it all makes a great show you watch for sheer fun.

Well Love hina manages to be great in all aspects, I have hundreds of romantic comedies on my profile but there are few that I can use to describe the genre like Love hina does, everything is just right, if I could make one change it would be to not do it in form of 24 and rather divide it into two of 12 episodes, probably feeling a dull weight on the way, in addition to that, it's worth a few reservations it's incredible how important this anime gives to its secondary characters, when we look at them We don't have that impression that they are just there to take up space on the screen, but that function, purpose and evolution over the course of the episodes, you know, this show manages to be timeless, an anime from 25 years ago that doesn't lose anything to the current ones in this case.…

As a current student who understands the struggle of attaining a place to attend a high ranked university, it seemed appealing to watch an anime about a student who was striving to attend a prestigious university. Despite the main character, Keitarou, failing the entrance a few times, i admire how he perseveres to pass and attain a place. What's more noble is that his resilience stems from the fact that he made a promise when he was young to another girl his age that they will meet again at Tokyo U and get together. Alongside studying for exams, Keitarou becomes a manager of a female dormitory. Since this is a harem anime, one may speculate that keitarou eventually causes all the girls to develop a crush on him. However, keitarou doesn't really have many qualities that appeal to the gi…

When I was in high school, I really liked Love Hina. I used to think this was a really good romance story, and genuinely wanted to see Keitaro and Naru get together. But as I've gotten older, I've really gotten harsher on this series. Let's start with the most important aspect of a romance anime: The romance! Keitaro and Naru's relationship simply does NOT feel believable, not in the least. Naru spends 95% of the series being angry and even outright violent toward Keitaro, who in turn is kind of a wet blanket who never stands up for himself or does anything that interesting. There is basically zero chemistry between these two, even on the rare occasions where they're getting along. I can barely buy them as friends, much less lovers. But I've given romance anime a pass even when I wasn't…

Why "Love Hina" is Just 24 Episodes of Pure Garbage ???????? You know those times when you sit down, expecting to enjoy a nice harem and romance show, but instead, you end up watching absolute trash? Yeah, that’s what "Love Hina" is. I’ve seen all the popular harem and romance shows because, let’s face it, it’s my favorite genre. But "Love Hina"? It’s the complete opposite of what a good show should be. In simple and short terms, "Love Hina" is nothing more than 24 episodes of cringe-worthy scenes, annoying characters, filler episodes, and toxic female leads. But you won’t find a good story anywhere in it. Don’t expect to watch a beautiful romance anime because this show is just one big mess. Story - What Story? The so-called story revolves around two characters, our MC Keitarou and the…

Love Hina is one of the classic harem animes. A guy dreams of attending Todai university, but can't get in. When he gets the chance to become the manager of an apartment building he takes it in order to support himself while he studies. What his grandmother, who left the position to him, didn't tell him was that it's an all-girls apartment building. Since he is hopelessly clumsy and unlucky he gets into a bunch of compromising situations with the various girls. It's laden with tropes and archetypes, but still quite enjoyable to watch. So how does this title rise above the trappings of mediocracy? Well... - Story & Theme As you can see above the story is pretty much what one might expect for a harem anime. There is also a sentimental part of it since the reason why Keitaro, the protagonist…

Love Hina is not an extraordinary anime, but it is not bad either, it is a fair work. In 24 episodes we follow a slice of life that has its comedic moments, some weak episodes and even fillers, which for me is a defect. However, it has a charismatic main core, with the exception of the character Motoko who is unbearable, but gets better. There is also development, even if minimal, of each character, which adds to the anime's narrative. Meanwhile, even though it's an old work, the animation is good and has a charming design that I like. Furthermore, it is important to praise how the anime works with ecchi which, unlike recent works, does not use it as something appealing but rather as, in fact, comical and which happens unintentionally (this within the narrative). We have good moments o…

Spoiler-free should-you-watch review of entire series: It's hard to put my feelings about Love Hina into words, but I think "absurd" works best. If you're looking for a harem anime, this is a classic. The romance can drag, and it's fairly nonsensical, but it has some compelling payoff assuming you've found yourself caring about the characters. I expect that most people would enjoy the manga more, but if that's just not your thing, the anime is an okay, but not great, substitute. If you're expecting the plot to be realistic, or for the writing it take itself seriously, you have the wrong anime. If you hate the trope of violence against men played for laughs, don't watch this. If you hate the sexualization of middle schoolers played for laughs, the initial series is fine IMO, but maybe skip…

What is this a Tokyo U ad? All jokes aside Love Hina isn't meant to be some amazing love story, It's another cringy harem anime with a tsundere love. Despite all the obvious character flaws that are present, this anime does exactly what it's supposed to do. Love Hina is a moment by moment anime where you don't really have to pay close attention to know exactly what's going on, there's no interesting plot or amazing character development because that's not what it's meant to show. It's supposed to be funny, episodes play out like a sitcom and almost never connect. If you just want to sit back and watch some funny anime without thinking too hard then here you go.

Beautiful character designs and smart music choices are let down by an over-the-top cliched Harem narrative that rarely lets up on the slapstick nonsense that constantly occurs with annoying regularity. Female lead Naru was grating and obnoxious as a MC, and I often found I was more interested in her sometimes-rival Mutsumi, who seemed infinitely more interesting as a character. The other dorm residents were a pile of cliches I found forgettable, as I can barely recall their names. Everything the series does as a Romantic-Comedy are things I have seen done elsewhere in Harem/Romantic anime with far more panache than Love Hina manages. When I first bought the series, it played better, but has not aged well in comparison with other titles in the Romantic genres of anime.

A while ago, I began a quest to watch more anime, y'know, to get more of them under my belt. And it's anime like this one that make me glad I set out on this quest. I found lots of enjoyment, enough for it to become my second favorite anime at the time, after One Piece itself. This is a good example of a romcom, I'd say. The story behind it all, with Keitaro's promise to his childhood friend, is decent enough to generate a good story. From this promise, we get two different plots: an alleged crush on this childhood friend, and a yearning to get into Tokyo U. From the 25 episodes to the two specials, we see these plots be carried through. Keitaro becomes the manager of an all girl dorm, which is just asking for trouble and antics, which we see lots of. The reason the anime is fun to watch…

I first saw this anime when I was young in the TV, I started watching it and I really got into it. Ths story and overall was nice, I just liked it. Then one day I went with some friend to a manga store and decided to give the manga a try. I couldn't believe what I was reading. The art, the plot, the characters, everything was great. I felt in love with the manga. After I finished the last volume I started feeling empty and just wanted to see it again, and there was when I realized what a piece of rubbish this anime is. They fucked up the characters, they gave Keitaro (The protagonist) an even dumber personality that was unnecessary. And talking about unnecessary what was going through their minds when they added more characters that have nothing to do with the plot and are just annoying…

To be honest, the only reason i watched this anime was because of the Role playing game of the same name . While the RPG didnt give away any of the plot, i found 3 characters very interesting. So i decided to check it out. Remember how i said the rpg didnt give the story away much? Well thats because it basically doesnt have any. I'm assuming that you pretty much read the synopsis atleast before this. So you know that the MC wants to get into the Tokyo University . The whole story centres around him wanting to make it to Tokyo U because of a promise he makes to some girl he played with as a child( And ofcourse he doesnt remember here face or name even ...Why?? PLOT!! Thats why). The author throughout the first season and other ovas goes out of his way to exploit this promise and the girl…

I come from the perspective of not needing to love all of the characters in Love Hina, and that is generally where most criticism comes from on this show. To be fair everyone would probably also agree that the plot is vapid and a thin plastic covering for the harem setup, but I usually hear the character criticism first. So basically my weak defence is that characters such as Naru Narusagawa are supposed to be awful, unreasonable, and mean. Some of the comedy for me is the fact that Keitarou likes in ether a romantic or friendly way the majority of the female cast. So in that sense the show sort of saves itself from being a standard harem anime, and deflects the criticism if you take my lopsided view. I must be reaching for an excuse to find the show sort of funny and entertaining, but th…

Was Love Hina good? It spawned a generation of imitations. It's said to be a "classic" harem anime. How much mileage can you get over Naru punching Keitaro over some misunderstanding? Apparently 24 episodes worth! The main character is such a cool guy that every last girl in the story is chasing after him. I suppose it was good enough for me to read the entire series and then watch all the episodes, but it's not something I ever need to see again. The setup follows the pattern of Maison Ikkoku. Take a young man, studying for college entrance exams, put him in a boarding house with some colorful characters and a woman with a short temper, sprinkle in a bunch of misunderstandings and watch love bloom. For bonus points, have them both go on vacation at the same time and meet up! Unfortunatel…

They say it’s a waste to live in the past, clinging to people you once knew and dreams you’ve outgrown. To live in the moment, and make plans for your future, are the cornerstones of responsibility, and you can never truly grow until you embrace them. But what if the past IS your only hope for a future? What if the only person who ever loved you was a brief acquaintance from your childhood? What if the promise to reunite as adults, bound by a common goal that will ensure their love will one day last forever? It’s easy to find the idea of someone devoting their adult lives to such a fleeting moment of happiness laughable, at least until you meet Keitaro Urashima, a 20 year old loser with a heart of gold and a body that would put a crash test dummy out of work. As a child, he made a promise…

Love Hina is a womderful story that is trapped in a poor adaptation. The story follows your typical harem plot. Keitaro, a ronin who is taking his exams again to try to get into Tokyo U inherits an inn from his grandmother, only to find out that it has been converted into a girls dormitory since his childhood all while trying to find the girl he made a promise to in childhood, whose face he cannot remember. Of course, the typical archetypes are here, the tsundere, the warrior traditional girl, the genki girl, the shy one, the jaded old one, so on and so forth. But all of the really nice slow character development that really gave these girls life and made you care about them is stripped from this anime, leaving it lifeless. If you are a fan of Negima, you will know that it is nearly impos…

Ah, man, I have not written a review this negative in a very long time. This will be a painful write, especially since I know this anime is apparently mildly popular and I imagine it relates to it being the creator of the harem genre in its rawest form. You know, where the innocent guy is continuously assaulted by women. For real, if somebody can show me just one anime where it's one with with a bunch of guys and the girl, for once, knows how it feels to be beaten up all the time, send me a message. This review is brutally honest, but it deserves to be. Some of the girls, especially one, got on my nerves so much that I questioned my morality at one point. Any fans of the anime, well, you could agree with me on most of these points I say anime, here. I have not read the manga, and I know i…

I had a LOT of high expectations for Love Hina's anime adaptation once I was about four volumes into the manga. Unfortunately, as a BIG fan of the manga, the anime left much to be desired. Story-wise, you get enthralled the moment you realize how much Keitaro has struggled to get into Tokyo University, especially to keep a 15 year old promise to the love of his life. However, there are many plot holes and re-written story arcs that drive this wonderful story through the wall. For instance, Motoko's dream sequence when she's sick and she gets a look into Keitaro's past - it's originally Keitaro dream in the manga, so having that plot centered on her doesn't make a lick of sense. Then there's the awful First Kiss episode centering around Shinobu. That moment was far too melodramatic to the…
