I actually really love this one, but I can't say I would exactly recommend it for basically one major reason: if you end up really liking this one, even if you go to the manga to continue where the show leaves off, you'll be very unsatisfied because the manga has been on indefinite hiatus since 2023. Needless to say, it's basically 100% certain that this won't be getting a season 2 and very likely that the manga will never be finished. It's quite frustrating because the premise of this story is very interesting.
I won't argue that this anime is S-tier, but the premise is extremely interesting, and most of the stories span across two episodes which helps with the pacing. I think what really appeals to me is the contrast between Guideau and Ashaf. Guideau is honestly somewhat annoying, but…

The Witch and the Beast was honestly a fantastic discovery.
And I really hope there will be a second season, because at this point, the only real negative thing I can find about this anime is simply the fact that there hasn't been enough time to fully develop the entire story.
There is still a lot we need to understand about what witches really are, where our main characters come from, what the deal is with the knights, and ultimately how this whole universe fits together.
So I really hope there will be more seasons to expand the world and give us a better understanding of it, because honestly, that is pretty much the only major weakness I can find.
Apart from that, the animation, the artwork, the characters, the themes, the overall concept and the atmosphere are all incredibly good.…

I ATE THIS ANIME UP IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE, IT WAS SUCH A SATISFYING WATCH ❤ Nah but for real, this anime lowkey got me out of my anime-watching-mental-block thing.
Story: I like when a dark fantasy anime has secret organisations fighting the dark forces, like evil witches or evil necromancers. But the Order of Magical Resonance is not one of those typical organisations who just do fighting all the time. They also protect witches and all kinds of monsters, the ones who aren't doing anyone any harm and just want to exist. And sometimes fantasy animes will make only the supernatural beings the "bad guys", but here the dark side of humans is exposed as well. I love all things witches and dark fantasy anime, but most of the time I only get action-packed scenes or comedic moments or some blan…

I really liked this one, it doesn't stand out to me in terms of characters, however the plot/world of this anime does appear to have potential. I really liked that there is uncensored violence and really dark themes, it looks like it's building up to have a great storyline. However, if you like really strong protagonists, it can be kind of a turn off to watch this anime. There are many plot holes and empty spaces in the world of this anime. Overall, there is tons of potential and i really hope to see it develop in a more detailed way. Liked it!

pros:
gud, everything kinda amaze me, even though it's a bit above average, the author made it to be not boring, sometimes they move the POV to other member of the Order. it's always interesting, cuz every pair have their own uniqueness. the most important thing is that it's not always about how strong someone is.
I like the world building, character design, their power also something fresh, it's so cool yet not too strong (sometimes), also I would say everything is made aesthetic in a way. the most prominent thing is the character design, especially Ashaf, look at him bro. plus he brings coffin when the times come, also he chill.
cons:
I would say the adaptation is a bit disappointing, just a bit. it's great I love it, but the manga have done much greater.

[JP, subtitle quality is average; the meaning is generally the same but wording changes personalities & intelligence]
For the first 2 episodes I was expecting this to be something finished and then forgotten but around 4 episodes some characters had vaguely got my liking and by 6 impatient to see the rest. Animation quality, to their benefit, is distributed more heavily to the places that it matters. The overall feel is unpolished. Only real complaint is in sound effects- the selection of sounds is out of place for many spells, and at times there seems to be too little noise (effects, not volume) for what is happening.
They chose a hell of a place to stop. It is not amazing or a gem or anything of that sort but I am eager for it to continue.

The witch and the beast is very much the odd one out as far as anime go. It features quite a unique and intresting story. A whole lot of mystery as well. But sadly it's not all sunshine and rainbows. And as much as i enjoyed it it's far from a masterpiece.
The story happens in a fully fantastical world, as there's no names of lands and countries from this world. Although the culture is clearly mostly the same.As far the geography goes, the world has eight unnamed continents.Im mentioning this because it does play a role in what happens in the show.
We follow a dude Ashaf and another dude Guideau stuck in the body of a girl. They are from some poorly named budget wizard tower from fate. Or at least Ashaf is. Guideau sticks around cuz they help eachother and share somewhat of a goal. Now th…

Great show, one of the best during this Anime season. Highly recommended if you’re into intricate and well-thought-out storytelling. At first, I was very skeptical, as the cover art really pushed me into this box that this show was just a cash-grab type of show. However, it soon promised to be a fascinating concept, and the animation also caught my attention. The show’s pacing jumps into action right away, and I applaud its attention-grabbing. This immediately made me interested in the show and made me to keep watching it right away.
Though it seemed to be some type of obscure yuri type of anime after watching the first episode, it proved otherwise very quickly with its great storytelling and concept. The concept really grabbed my attention with its worldbuilding using their rules of magi…

One of the best animes that i have watched it in 2024
The best anime about witches and the concept of magic with excellent accuracy
Amazing characters with good tho full design .
Ashaf and gedo friendship was the best.
The blood, the killers, and even the animation are unmatched.
How events are on track but you cannot predict what might happen from some of the deteriorating characters who might be the ones complaining about the problem.Like a boy who wanted to preach to his friend. It was unexpected that his friend Kho did this for him, as he thought that he was in trouble and in some problem and wanted to help him, but Kho was the one who wanted to threaten him.
The Plot was taking a good view at the Characters past and present.
Great story, diverse concepts, even action and fantas…

The plotline/premise is a lot like Dorohedoro and Undead Girl Murder Farce, except this is incredibly generic and shallow shonen action cringe that takes itself way too seriously while failing miserably to actually be seinen.
These characters are all cardboard cutouts we learn almost nothing about and what we do learn amounts to: generically evil witch, generically persecuted good witch, generically evil executioners, generically good mage society, generically angry MC, etc. Shonen trope hell. If it weren't shonen it would actually put effort to have meaningful character depth to give any of it emotional weight.
The world is generic. The interactions are contrived. The exposition is cringe. The pacing of everything is slow, practically just slow fps sloth dialogue to monotonously overexp…

The Witch and the Beast (2024), adapted from the manga by Kousuke Satake. Tells the story of Ashaf, a calm agent of the Order of Magical Resonance, and his wild partner, Guideau, who is trapped in a female body due to a witch’s curse. Together, they are assigned to handle cases involving magic, especially those related to witches, with the ultimate goal of finding the witch who cursed Guideau and breaking the spell.
@Rafimars345, this time your recommendation flopped, bro. The Witch and the Beast felt average to me, it only got good in the last three episodes. The rest of it had a dragging pace, and the characters didn’t really keep me invested. The visuals and animation were decent, pretty much the standard for anime in this decade. But when compared to Zom 100: The Bucket List of The De…

The fact that this anime has so many negative or mixed reviews truly tests my faith in the MAL community, simply because I enjoyed it so much. This one is really a hidden gem, I stumbled upon it on a whim and thought that the short synopsis and cover art looked interesting, and WOW am I glad I gave it a chance. Admittedly the first few episodes aren't the greatest, even though I still liked them, the show truly shines as the viewer is given more glimpses into the dark and supernatural world of "The Witch And The Beast."
As others have pointed out the world building is absolutely phenomenal. It's quite rare that I'm so enchanted by an anime's lore and world that I transition to the manga after finishing the show, but I simply couldn't help myself after finishing this one. The magical syste…

Watching this anime felt like starting the Supernatural TV series from the middle seasons — intriguing but initially confusing due to missing context. Maybe "intriguing" is a strong word here. It's more like you want to like it, but it’s hard to fully enjoy. Another comparison would be watching Uncle From Another World, but in this case, the “uncle” is the director or writer. There’s a story and lore you could appreciate, but events and info seem randomly inserted as they see fit. Story-wise, if you don’t expect a masterpiece, it’s okay.
Let’s talk about the characters. We can say there are two main characters. One is an unlikeable, one-dimensional character, while the other feels like a cool side character whose storyline you would enjoy — except that we are already in his storyline but…

Watched it thinking it would be an great anime but then the story felt a bit blant towards the end. I liked the idea of witches put curses and they can be cured in multiple ways. However somehow the main character in the suit always seems to have the exact trick up his sleeve and pulls the solution rabbit out when he feels like it. Because of this it makes the story predictable that he find some solution to whatever problem popped up that day.
This results in a bit of mixed feelings. Animation looked great but the story is flat.

At another site, I pronounced this the Wolfwood and PowerxMadoka show. If you know what that means, you can just stop reading now, and go about your business.
This really started off with a bang, and it easily passed my 3 eps test. But the producers couldn't keep things headed in the right direction. As time wore on, these MCs became less and less believable. and the Helmet of Disbelief was already stretched pretty thin. New characters get added, and never really go anywhere, or are not connected to the plot except haphazardly. While there is an overarcing plot, it's pretty thin. The series is more episodic, or a number of short arcs, than anything else.
I did like the art work throughout; dark and brooding, but quality. The animation started out top notch, but slowly started to fade a…

The show revoles around Ashraf and Guideau (mostly) and this world of witches and magic. There is an absolute ton of worldbuilding here and I feel we haven't even seen the surface of what's going on. I honestly can't remember a series (perhaps other than Magus Bride) with more immediate depth. Weirdly even the D&D and RPG loving sides of my brian got a kick out of this.
Our protagonists are what drew me in though, they're stylish and cool with an element of mystery. There's both an odd couple and buddy cop thing going on, with an element of hostility. Probably worth noting this isn't normally my thing, but therse are complicated characters whose stories are unlocked slowly so that drew me in. Their complicated nature does mean they're not all good, which might be a turn off for some, but…

If there was only one word to describe this anime...it'd be 'disturbing'.
Not based off of it's story alone (though it did handle rather gruesome plot-lines, even for anime standards), but combined with it's menacing score, vivid art style and the relentless misery that each and every character underwent, the overall feeling viewers received was simply unsettling. However, there were random insertions of beauty and sentiment to mask character depth.
In terms of the overall plot, it was rather fast-passed, a lot of time was dedicated to world-building and how the Witches and the Order blended together in everyday life. The two main characters Guideau and Ashaf, were shrouded in mystery and their baseline motives were left unclear. As a result, audiences empathize more with the supportin…

As I rolled credits, I was left with pretty mixed feelings for this show.
On paper, this show should absolutely be my jam, combing a bunch of stuff together that I really like. But the animation is just so… mediocre. And you can get away with that in a lot of genres, but this is an action heavy show, where almost all of the action is bad.
And don't get me wrong, the actual art style is excellent. In fact, the whole show just has this intangible cool factor about it. Characters are well designed. Everything oozes with style. But then they’ll set up confrontations, and I don't know if it's just poor direction or the strained feeling budget or what, but these battles are basically never good. Really stiff and static, oftentimes a little incoherent and there are moments where it just feels…

There's a lot right with this, but it can't escape the gravity of poor/generic writing that is currently infecting a lot of manga/anime.
For the majority this is probably an anime they will enjoy.
For old discerning gits who've been watching Anime since the 70s... it's all been done before, commits the same problems a lot of the current crop do. Don't expect anything new, expect okish writing, expect OP protagonists that don't have any character arcs or any fear of issues, and reminisce back to the 80s/90s when we had some truly great anime that surpassed it's source (ahem... GITS).
Going to start at the big thing it gets right: the world building.
Loads of interesting things to get behind at the beginning and it's dipping into 1800 European etc allows you to make some leaps without h…

This anime is truly amazing! The storyline is full of surprises and very interesting from start to finish. The main characters have depth and development that makes the audience connect emotionally. The visual design and animation are beautiful, with details that enrich the viewing experience. The music also enhances the atmosphere and emotions of each scene The battles and action in this anime are very exciting and full of strategy, making every moment tense. Apart from that, the values of friendship and cooperation are displayed very well Overall, this anime is one of the best I have ever watched in this genre. I'm really looking forward to season 2 and can't wait to see how this story will develop further! For anime fans, this is a must watch!"
