Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man

Introduction

Denji is robbed of a normal teenage life, left with nothing but his deadbeat father's overwhelming debt. His only companion is his pet, the chainsaw devil Pochita, with whom he slays devils for money that inevitably ends up in the yakuza's pockets. All Denji can do is dream of a good, simple life: one with delicious food and a beautiful girlfriend by his side. But an act of greedy betrayal by the yakuza leads to Denji's brutal, untimely death, crushing all hope of him ever achieving happiness. Remarkably, an old contract allows Pochita to merge with the deceased Denji and bestow devil powers on him, changing him into a hybrid able to transform his body parts into chainsaws. Because Denji's new abilities pose a significant risk to society, the Public Safety Bureau's elite devil hunter Makima takes him in, letting him live as long as he obeys her command. Guided by the promise of a content life alongside an attractive woman, Denji devotes everything and fights with all his might to make his naive dreams a reality. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

It's good and worth your time. The backgrounds and environments are very well made and consistent, as well as the effects during their destruction. The music is high quality and evokes what it needs to. There isn't much fluff at all when it comes to pacing. A problem the anime has is the inconsistency in character animation. Characters are occasionally animated with rotoscoping which can be very jarring. Its real movement on characters that look nothing like people so it can take your focus off of the scene. The CGI looks out of place, as it does in all anime, but it doesn't take much away from the scenes it's used in. These problems are minor, and the anime is still very enjoyable.

I went into Chainsaw Man expecting another crazy action anime, but it ended up being much more interesting than I expected. The basic idea of Denji merging with his pet devil and becoming Chainsaw Man is completely wild, but the story also has a surprisingly grounded side. What I liked most is that Denji doesn’t feel like a typical anime protagonist. He’s immature, selfish at times and has very simple dreams because of the life he grew up with. His reactions to things actually feel believable for someone in his situation. Aki and Power are also very different from him, and watching their relationships develop was one of my favorite parts. The art and animation fit the series really well. The fights look brutal and energetic, while the quieter scenes have a more cinematic feeling. The sou…

The main flaw in the anime adaptation of Fujimoto’s magnum opus has to be the art style. It’s so meticulously detailed that it almost looks like CGI, completely different from the original artwork. Other than that, it’s top-notch: an incredible story, divinely written characters, and an excellent soundtrack. The way the series concludes is beautiful, setting the stage for my favorite narrative arc in the entire story. I’m eagerly awaiting the adaptations of the next story arcs, though they aren’t quite as exciting as the early chapters. Without the anime adaptation, CSM certainly wouldn’t have achieved the success it enjoys today, but there are still some flaws that make me far prefer Fujimoto’s manga. Bottom line: read the manga and enjoy it.

Heard about this series since I was 14, didn't read the manga thinking I will consume this in animated more immersive form. After the anime came out waited for the right moment to watch. First episode: MC dies is reborn strong >Oh no, please no Second episode: Girls start flirting with MC seconds after meeting him. >God please don't Fifth episode: Every girl in this anime wants to fuck him and one of them does. >Hot but..... Goonslop. Thats it, that's all this is. 14 year old me would've thought this a masterpiece. But as a grown man now (19) this is just appalling. Not just appalling it's depressing, is every anime gonna take this route? it's obviously very successful because well, sex sales.

Christian Review: To be completely honest I haven’t seen this show recently but I will rewatch and make a full review someday! From what I remember, there is a lot and I mean a lot of fan service(really didn’t like this in the show) and also contracts with “devils” which may turn off some viewers although I don’t think it’s actually demon contracts but really just how the universe works in the show. Other than that, the fights are very good but I honestly don’t really think it was any good until the Reze movie which I gave a 10 but I may drop it to a 9 soon.

A perfectly done shonen made for older teens to young adults. Younger people may not get all the nuances of this anime so they might not be able to appreciate it much. This is a story about a young boy who's been excluded from human society his wholelife where the only people he has know are lowlife gangsters who only care about using people. This story is essentially about this boy learning about society and the world and how to integrate into it. Some people call out the horniness and stuff about this anime yet they say they love fanservice which is extremely weird. If they actually payed attention to the story and it's nuances then they would understand them commenting on that is extremely stupid as not even close to a main plot point or reason he does things. These people love to hate…

Chainsaw Man is just okay, nothing special. The story is very predictable, the cast is not that likeable and the fights are very repetitive. You would think a guy that has chainsaws as weapons would have some cool fights but after you seen the first one, you kinda seen them all. The first few episodes were quite boring before the main plot of the season starts, nobody really has anything interesting going on. The animation is pretty nice though and I also like how every episode has a different ending song and animation to keep it fresh. Also the show is overly freaky, I wouldn't recommend watching it with other people in the room.

This was great. It has a really fun premise and world. I love how it just throws you right into it, with no contrived exposition or explanations for why there are devils or anything. They're just natural to this universe, and I love the way that this shows them and how there's a devil hunting task force. The story plays out with such a great pace. Each episode is almost episodic in nature. Obviously, there's an overarching narrative going on, but a lot of the episodes have their own contained stories within them, which makes each episode fun and unique, and it keeps the story always moving in engaging directions. I also thought that this had a fun sense of humor and personality. Denji is fucking unhinged, and his entire driving force in the first half is wanting to feel some titties. There…

Chainsaw Man is a really good show. It has a unique style and stands out from a lot of other anime I've watched. The animation style is one of the strongest parts of the show. It has a really cool look and fits the darker tone of the series perfectly. The way it presents its world makes it feel different from other anime. Speaking of the tone, I really liked how dark Chainsaw Man can get. It doesn't feel like a typical action anime, and it isn't afraid to show a more brutal and serious side. The characters are another big highlight. Denji is an interesting protagonist, and the supporting cast are all really enjoyable to watch. The way the characters interact with each other is what makes the show work so well. The music is also really good. It fits the style of the anime and helps make…

Chainsaw Man is an incredibly well produced Shonen anime with one of the most unique protagonists out there. This causes a lot of mixed opinions, and may put some people off watching entirely. Nethertheless, a large audience of people will enjoy it, having a magnitude of action scenes along side many atmospheric visuals. Story - 8/10 Denji starts by working for the Yakuza paying off his fathers debt by killing devils for money. However this line of work ultimately leads to his death causing his pet devil Pochita to merge into him, causing them to become a hybrid. Makima, an elite devil hunter from the Public Saftey Bureau, finds Denji and takes him in under her command. Promised a simple life under her care, he takes the offer and fights devils, to turn his dream of a girlfriend into a re…

Chainsaw Man is not just about a guy who can transform into a chainsaw, but a man who is deeply struggling with a twisted past. Chainsaw Man is a very special yet sensitive show. It may front as a funny, comedic action show, which, don't get me wrong, it is. But it is also so much more than that. You can watch this show and just see a man fighting with chainsaw arms, but in reality, what you're watching is Denji trying to overcome being a slave to the system. He is not only manipulated at every turn, but also so desensitized to it that he doesn't see a problem. It is a very real, feeling show. Every character has depth, and emotions that are portrayed in such an amazing way, you feel them, you feel what they feel. That's why this show is so superbly adapted, it doesn't skip over the litt…

It was pretty good. i think the first half was just ok, but ever since episode 6 i started getting more invested. Denji was a bit of an annoying main character but he grew on me by the end. I think the highlights of the show are the animation, fights, and big man Aki Hayakawa, I actually quite liked him. Haven't watched the movie yet, but I thought I'd review the show beforehand. Overall, it's a cool show, expected a bit more after how much hype surrounds it, but I'll check out season 2 and other stuff whenever it's out.

- If you want to actively disengage your brain and watch mindless devil slaying hack and slash gore, then Chainsaw Man is the show for you. - If you think characters getting kicked in the nuts is hilarious, Chainsaw Man is the show for you. - If you like your MC to be dyeing of thirst and willing to do anything to cop a feel, Chainsaw Man is the show for you. -If you are looking for a believable plot, consistent characters, meaningful development of any kind, or a power system/scale that makes sense, look elsewhere. Power is a likeable character that adds some good comedy all though she gets little to no meaningful screen time after the first few episodes. The rest of the cast acts inconsistently and fails to develop through out the show. Character relations are introduced but never f…

Wow. I loved Chainsaw Man more than I thought I would. The characters were simple but well-done, the "camera" angles were very effective, the tension had me wanting to watch more and more. The art was beautiful, the fight scenes were amazing and the story just made sense. A truly great thing about CSM is the character depth and diversity. Each new character introduced, is given a good introduction and they each have their own strengths and interesting characteristics which makes it feel unique, towards the end you can start relating and becoming closer with the characters as their stories are explored more, overall I think the character design has been done incredibly. CSM is a must-watch for anyone who loves action or dark fantasy or just wants to get into anime.

The introduction of characters each with their own flaw and personality is a nice touch. Denji's twisted goals are amusing and naive, and can feel realistic given what he went through in the first part of his life. The animation is great overall. The music is enjoyable, the opening is really punchy, but it's a shame there were so many ending themes — you don't have enough time to absorb and remember them. It feels as though the staff couldn't decide among all the tracks and simply chose to keep everything. Fair enough, but regardless, great work on the animation for the various endings. The story is enjoyable, though you can get lost with all the Devils and the distinction between them and the Fiends. It never gets boring. The reason I didn't give it a perfect score is because of a sense o…

The Chainsaw Man anime is one of the best manga adaptations I’ve ever seen in that it really does just feel like the manga came alive and started moving around. There’s no loss of quality or personality that sometimes comes with the animation process, every unique emotion and lively expression is perfectly translated into motion. This is necessary to compliment the series’ fantastic character creation. Denji wouldn’t be Denji with his inelegant and gawky personality filed down, he needs to be delightfully weird and scruffy and they captured that perfectly. He’s the central core of the series, a downtrodden teenage boy who has never experienced anything but hardship and isolation, suddenly thrust into the world of devil hunting. He becomes one with his pet devil, Pochita, who takes the pla…

Perspective note: Never picked up the manga, didn't really know what the show was about. Watched on the recommendation of friends who know my taste well. This is a review of the show as a standalone season. Visually breathtaking, obviously. The soundtrack is amazing too - immediately had to look it up. YSK that the manga was such a hit that they even got the budget for a different ED - song and animation - every. single. episode. It's kinda crazy. The action scenes are riveting but I would warn any squeamish people to be prepared to face some gorey moments. Design wise, I don't have anything in particular to say. It's all OK. Pochita is cute, yes. The pacing was interesting. It was slow where I didn't expect it to be, and that made for an enjoyable flow. I liked Denji's backstory and cha…

Chainsaw man made it onto the big three. Character detail, personality, storyline was portrayed perfectly. Honestly rewatched this over 20 times. The start is very promising and then you get the the middle mark and it drags on so much. Saying this the ending was perfect!!!! The way the end shows how denji is full of fear and how alone he is, it’s very manga accurate. It’s almost dystopian at the end. The plot twist was absolutely heartbreaking. It’s quite gruesome the topic of almost everyone getting the worst ending ever. I do wish that some of the denji and devil fights were cut shorter and more scenes were added since some of the devil fights weren’t relevent to the plot.

If I'm being honest I expected more for how hyped this anime and manga is. I took me for like 4 years to get myself watch this, because it just didn't seem very interesting. Characters were in my opinion quite blank and I personally didn't get to warm up for any of them. Also didn't really like the main character, wich is in my opinion a big red flag in anime. I also didn't enjoy watching Power, but still little bit more than Denji. Aki was probably my favourite character, maybe because we get to see his emotions and growth. Also I didn't like in this anime how women written and shown. I hate Denji and his mind. Makima was terrifying and interesting. I don't really know if I'm even going to continue the series, I watched 12 episodes of this and didn't really get anything of it... So...…
