This anime is the genuine definition of why I like anime from the 2000s and 2010s, because things actually happen in this one. The main couple develops naturally, and they openly acknowledge their feelings for each other instead of dragging things out forever like we see in so many anime nowadays.
This is a criticism I often make about modern anime. Back then, stories actually had a beginning, middle, and end, while nowadays it feels like the anime industry tries to drag things out for as long as possible just so the main couple can hold hands or make the tiniest bit of progress. And honestly, that really annoys me.
Now let's talk about Mashiro-iro Symphony. It's based on a visual novel, so logically, the anime focuses on only one of the heroines' routes. And honestly, I really liked the…

Mashiro-iro Symphony: The Color of Lovers is an anime based on an adult visual novel by Palette. We follow Shingo Uryu as his sister Sakuno and his good friend Hayata go to a prestigious all-girls academy called Yuihime Girls' Private Academy as a test for a merger. Things seem well until Airi Sena, a kind girl Shingo met the other day, loudly declares that she will not accept the guys coming to this academy. What will happen while Shingo is at this academy? How will he get Airi's respect? Will he find love? And who?
The first couple of episodes were nicely paced, showing how Shingo slowly gains Airi's respect. Additionally, they do a good job of showing students from two schools handling a sudden merger. Unfortunately, trying to fit everything from a 30+ hour game into just 12 episodes i…

In the visual novel scene, one of the more hyped-up moege (or slice-of-life heavy romance visual novels) to get a translation was Mashiroiro Symphony. It was once considered a classic, even getting a visual novel remaster a decade later with HD resolution and updates to its most popular heroine, Sana.
If you're too scared to try out a dating sim or a heavy romance visual novel that takes at least 20 to 30 hours to read in full, I think this anime adaptation is a decent way to check if the setting, story, and characters fit your tastes.
While not the most common setting, the premise of a male protagonist suddenly having to interact with heroines from a previously all-girls school is sort of a recurring trope. The first half of the series actually does a relatively realistic job of portray…

Sometimes, romance anime feels too far-fetched, like it’s tailored for drama rather than real emotions. But then you come across a gem like Mashiro-iro Symphony, which takes a simple premise and delivers a heartfelt, down-to-earth love story that feels so relatable. I can’t believe this masterpiece is from 2011 because it feels timeless in how beautifully it portrays relationships, friendships, and even personal growth.
Let’s talk about the visuals first—wow. The animation, especially the cherry blossoms and serene atmosphere, instantly draws you in. It’s calming and almost magical. I could feel the gentle breeze, the warmth of the sunlight—it’s like the setting was alive and perfectly complementing the story. And don’t even get me started on the music! The background score and voice acti…

I was surprised I enjoyed this, as the minute it is tagged with ecchi and harem, i worry about a weak story, made up for with lots of fan service, this was not the case. Although part of the story is your typical boys move in to girls school, generic anime, it tried to do things differently slightly. It wasn't just one guy, everyone didn't want sex with him immediately or to date him, and as someone else has said is not pervy guys or quickly embarrassed clueless characters.
The harem element is there, and you cannot ignore it, like the ecchi. The truth is your going to see some nudity, and people getting in the bath together, that makes you wonder would really, but is not a regular OTT fan service fantasia for people. The story takes up most of it, with the harem element more as he goes a…

Mashiroiro Symphony is a harem, romance, drama, slice of life anime where the main character actually chooses a girl, and not just keeps his harem. This anime was based of a visual novel and it explored all the girls routes except for the Mc's sister. The anime starts off pretty standard except this time we get two tsunderes, they both fall for the MC and both of them get rejected, it's nice to see that the anime did not do a predictable turn since most of the time the Tsundere does end up winning at the end or the first girl that we meet is the main girl. At the start it did feel like Airi would be the main girl since she got a lot of character and romantic development earlier on, but that wasn't the case as she and everyone else lost to Amiu. Sena was also a stubborn tsundere at first th…

I do not recommend watching this anime, it has a decent plot at the start, but it's completely eradicated after just a few episodes. The MC and the girl that he chooses at the end are the most dull and just overall worst characters I've seen so far, the other characters are more detailed and more interesting to watch then those two, not to mention Wtf is that animal. Yeah artstyle ir good, but you cannot fill the empty plot with it and also harem is not only about having a lot of characters liking the MC, its about the MC liking them back and not being a dick to them. What I'm trying to say is, he needs to be selfaware of his sorroundings, people and actions.
To watch this whole anime, is to watch a big mess, with sprinkles of good artstyle to hide the fact that everything is put together…

Very good overall. The only thing that pisses me off is how they forced the animals to be relevant in the story. Its retarded.
So..
This is one of those animes thats is not generic with love story. This is one of those animes where the guy wont end up with the girl that will first pop up in your mind that you thought that he's gonna end up with. Basically there are 3 girls that falls in love with guy. although the 1st girl got tossed out of the story LMAO.
Ok lets start with 2nd girl. She's one of those anime girls where alot of guys will find annoying at first and you'll thought that she's just a side character and she will never develop but ends up becoming the best girl. I'm gonna name her "Bitchy@1st but she actually da best girl".
3rd girl is pretty much the best girl from start…

At first look, this seems like a regular harem anime with a school setting. I remember watching the first few episodes with a bit of a bored look on m face just listing of the archetypes of each girl. But eventually, I found myself drawn in. I am not sure exactly what drew me in but by the 6th episode, I could not stop.
The characters, while a touch one dimensional at the beginning grew heavily throughout the anime. Each characters grew personally and created connections with each other that I could not call at all. Each one was truly fleshed out and really made it feel like the merger and their interactions with the protagonist had an effect on them. There were so many moments that had me lying back just surprised at the outcome.
The music was perfectly timed and really helped to create…

I truly never take the time to write a review, but this time I felt it was necessary. This anime had great potential but ended being a painful experience.
The anime starts with decent quality, MC is a typical harem guy who can't do anything but smile and be nice. That's the MC from the start to the end, with no flaws and no development to be done through the story.
All the girls start the same, being archetypes of a harem anime too, but at least they all end having some kind of development, specially two of them, only one girl remained being a common shy anime doll until the last episode.
And I said watching this becomes a painful experience because the anime builds up the story for the other girls, trying to make you feel something for them, and when you finally start caring, the show…

Why is it so hard to produce a decent harem? If harems were pointless excursions, it would’ve been fine. If they were unpleasant, completely generic without a hint of originality than fine. Then it’d be easy to review them and dismiss them. It’s rarely the case. Often the anime hints it could be something fun, even as a light drama. All it would take is a little more character development, a few more quirks and a little more conflict.
Mashiroiro Symphony perhaps deserves credit that its path is less common in the harem genre. The harem aspect is the only thing in it that makes it male-friendly. Anything else is so gentle, so fragile and cute that it fits the negative usage of the word ‘gay’. Nudity and sexuality are mostly absent. Hairstyles are all over the place, complex and detailed. E…

I enjoyed this anime more than I expected to, I also find myself hating it for certain reasons I can't say due to spoilers, however I can say it has to do with romance situations.
Story
This anime is about two schools who try a merge, some of the students from a mixed gender school go to a all girl academy. Now you can imaging the reactions from some of the girls at this all girls academy. Anyway Shingo tends to be the mid-way point in a sense, all though not all students like him any better, but he seems to help. He essentially starts getting involved and thus create the plot points of the story, making drama, excitement, and more. I really did enjoy the story overall however like many "harem" anime we all don't like the love choice or however you would like to put it.

All my scores are subjective with the basis of a 7 being ‘average’. My scores are based off of my enjoyment rather than objective standards. Please read the entire review if you want reasons to why I like/dislike a series.
Mashiroiro Symphony is an adaptation of a visual novel by the same name. The visual novel has you following routes trying to get with one of the four main girls. Adapting a VN into an anime, usually anime studios would have to choose a route to animate, do a totally new anime story, or mix and match routes to try and put in a bit of everyone’s. What this anime does is mostly the latter, it has aspects of everyone’s routes in it, but eventually the main character DOES end up with someone, which can be surprising from a harem anime where the norm is open endings. Other th…

Alright this is my first review so I'll try to keep it a little shorter.
When I first started watching Mashiroiro Symphony I thought it was going to be another quick rom/com harem that was a light watch with no conclusion. Man was I wrong..... This show left me conflicted on who to feel happy or sad for. With only 12 episodes to work with Mashiroiro Symphony developed it's characters nicely, in particular **(Minor spoiler)** having the MC actually choose a heroine and openly be the one to confess to the girl as apposed to having each girl confess to the MC fist then a choice is made. Won't go into who is chosen or anything because spoilers are no fun.
Tons of laughs, tons of feels, overall a very enjoyable watch. Wish more romance/harem anime could learn from this example.

If u aren't perverted then when u want to watch this anime, you will wavering because of the ratings which said "mild nudity" but don't worry, there is no visible and obvious nudity like ones in pervy anime at all. It is a truth that there are some scenes which male MC is forced to take a bath in same tub with some of fem characters coz the fem characters get in on their own even though they know that male MC already in the tub. But trust me,their body isn't being exposed or anything. So,don't worry, you wont see any ecchi nor hentai scenes in it :)
well let's get on business now! (^^)/

When I first took a look into Mashiro-iro Symphony I never thought it would drag me in as much as it did. It took hold of my attention when I was watching, and didn't let go of me until I got though the whole anime; and yes I did marathon the anime for me it was that good.
I've always been a fan of romance animes, they're what I go to when I need an uplifting story or a sad one; this anime does it that bill of being one of the higher end romance animes that I've seen (and I've seen a lot of them). It may have had those slow moments, and those slightly inappropriate moments but over all I thought the storyline and character progression really overshadowed those moments making it a very good anime. Especially one that can throw around your feelings like it was nothing.
STORY 9/10

Allow me to preface this by saying that the only thing barring this from a better review from me was its depressing brevity. I felt like this could have easily been at least a 25 episode show, and it ended all too soon. I ranked the story as a 7 for this reason (given more time and character development, it would have been worth a possible 10).
I began watching this expecting another fun, rom-com harem. Oh, and the end of the first episode made me thing that perhaps some forbidden romance with his sister was brewing as well. Thankfully, my expectations were rather wrong on all accounts.
For starters, the main character was NOT a douche-bag. (Perhaps oblivious at times, but isn't that a requirement for a male high school character in an anime?) In fact, he was a rather admirable, kind h…

This is definitely not the best anime in the harem anime genre, but this series does have many elements that make it worth watching and appreciating.
In harem anime, it has become a staple to have a clumsy, awkward and... well... stupid male MC who is, for some reason, likable in some regard which attracts girls to him. When I think of a harem anime MC, I think of Keitaro from Love Hina. This anime however takes a step back from that and gives us... the most generic "nice guy" I have ever seen. This character doesn't have a personality. He is just... nice. He gets verbally taunted or abused... nice. He gets kicked or punched... nice. He gets labelled a pervert due to a typical "misunderstanding"... nice. He is too generic and nice for my liking. My "perfect" harem MC is Keima from The Wor…

Mashiroiro Symphony is quite a enjoyable story with some tedious and boring bits, but most animes are like that, i enjoy that each character are different from one another implying different feelings/emotions while still being in a harem.
The major thing i didn't like about it was that main guy didn't show as much of a strong "hero" i just saw a lovable over-friendly side character, and personally thought the girls had more interesting stories then the main character.

This is quite possibly the best anime that I've ever seen that has harem listed as a genre.
I'm sure that you will all agree that the most annoying thing about any harem anime is the perverted characters who tries to hit on everyone/ gets hit on by everyone. Thus, I have more or less given up on the harem genre and steer well clear. However, this anime is like hope at the bottom of Pandora's box.
I really like how the protagonist is not just a decent person for once but he cares so much about everyone around him. All he is ever trying to do is help (leading to a number of misconceptions). The story line is not about him and every other girl falling in love symultaniously but rather, it focuses on the development of a single girl's feelings... before disregarding them for the next. He tak…
