Spice and Wolf II

Spice and Wolf II

Introduction

Traveling merchant Kraft Lawrence continues his northward journey with wolf goddess Holo, in search of her lost home of Yoitsu. Lawrence and his sharp-witted partner continue to make some small profits along the way, while slowly uncovering more information about Holo's hometown. However, the road to Yoitsu is a bumpy one filled with many troubles—Lawrence runs into a charming young fellow merchant who has his eyes set on the female wolf companion, and he begins to doubt if Holo will remain by his side; he and the goddess will also have to consider precarious and risky business deals as Lawrence strives to achieve his dream of becoming a shopowner. All the while, with his determination tested at every turn during his journey, Lawrence must question his relationship with Holo, take on business ventures, and ask himself whether it is time for him and Holo to go their separate ways. If you just want to continue watching the interactions between Laurence and Holo, watch this season. But be warned: it's bad. The first episode starts boring, and it's not a good start to what is said to be the weaker season of the original anime adaptation. The first arc is okay but an episode or two can be cut. On the other hand, the second arc ends abruptly. We don't know what happens to Eve, and we don't know what happens to the town, which suddenly finds itself in a revolution. Our pair just left it unceremoniously. In other words, it needs an episode or two to properly conclude the arc. Whilst the first season is worth watching to understand why Spice and Wolf is a good anime, not to mention so we can meet the anime-original Chloe, the second season is a mess. Also, the original…

First of all it's been a fun experience watching Lawerence's and Holo's travels. Seeing an anime with a merchant instead of a student or idealistic character is a refreshing experience though even an interesting concept can be ruined by a poor execution. Spice and Wolf in my opinion is not one those poor executions. Honestly I don't have much to say about what I dislike about the series. Lawerence's and Holo's dynamic didnt feel all that special at the start of the series but over time it felt like they had something special. At the times arguments between the characters seem overdramatized to some extent. What did I like is how Lawerence isn't portrayed as some prodigy or super merchant but as a regular person who makes mistakes. Not one or two but a lot of them, makes him feel more huma…

This is the only anime I've ever seen that I have gone out of my way to write a written review for. (No spoilers) Not worth your time, the ending hardly gives any satisfaction. The main reason I do not recommend this is that the character development in this anime is awful for the two main characters, which is the entire focus of the show. The ending was a MASSIVE punch in the gut with how abrupt it is with not nearly enough of a resolution for the two main characters. My other huge problem with the show is that it is hardly a romance at all. It's just straight up not a romance, the only ounce of romance in the season is Lawrence getting jealous over another guy that Holo was with for a short time. Holo gives hardly any attraction back and it feels like a wet fart of a relationship compar…

In terms of fluidity of the animation I'd say this is average by today's standards. There really aren't any action scenes to really show off the animation, unlike the first season which had a couple. The frame-to-frame improved quite a bit and matches modern standards nicely even though it is only more recent by a year. Characters remain solid and well written. Stroy continues to have wonderful world building and support character growth nicely. The pacing is a tad slower than season 1, still very good and keep you attention, but just slightly worse(mostly just nit picking here). Voice acting is slightly worse, but only becasue some of the side characters were pretty bad, otherwise the main duo still has some of the best voice acting I've seen in a dub, and a lot of the side characters are…

The second season definitely felt pretty convoluted and confusing. The anime already has a habit of not explaining things very well or having very unclear and hard-to-follow dialogue, but the whole economic aspect just makes everything worse. There were so many times I had to go back while watching after not initially understanding some random piece of dialogue. Sure, Holo and Lawrence speak in rather unorthodox ways compared to how people speak now, but that wasn't the issue. Many times the dialogue would feel random and unexplained. I'd go to the sub to see if it was any better at explaining and it was just blatantly different. On top of the dialogue, the plot was really hard to follow, despite the subpar explanations. Oftentimes characters would randomly do things for seemingly no appar…

To start things off, I loved the first season... Howevvveeerrrrrr....... First off the story... Horrible, In the first season it was great, we see many many new towns and have a good few trades and exciting moments with a diverse cast of characters and actual thinking involved. In the second season, we have one town, mainly one trade, a extremely smaller cast of characters and almost no progression besides mostly dribble, cut towards the end and they rush everything because they did not have the source material for another season. Making anyone who does another season either redo season 2, please god let that be, or B ignore the last episode and continue from there or C, hope not, skip a lot of story from the novels.... Anyways.... The story aside, it was still entertaining at times. A…

this was a very good series great medieval theme well portrayed it felt very natural. i liked both of the characters i feel they were very interesting. there was a huge issue though... the ending was horrible!!! the relationship progression was very bad. i have faith that the light novels are fantastic although i would hardly recommend you watch this anime. it is simply lacking on the romance aspect. i still have anxiety from this anime... so if you like to feel sick and unresoved after watching an anime this is for you. just don't bother unless you are willing to read the light novels.

(Make sure to watch the first season before reading) This is a show made with a focus on development, but this season focuses on one big score. This is a show that will make you question why and how you enjoy it. Then there is two roads, ones who enjoy the show, and others that will think this development is too slow and broad. This is option #1 for me, I found it to be enjoyable. This arc only covers one business deal but has dense pacing issues that otherwise is surrounded by a decent plot and great characters and good development. The second season does however lack the speed and energy of the first season, but it follows a more romantic stance in this season, more or less focusing just on Holo & Lawrence and their maturity and growing passions for true happiness. The issue with this…

The second series is fine. It tells more about the two main characters journey after what happened in season one. In here, they faced more trouble together. But, I was honestly expecting more romance since it is already on the second season and they were together for a long time already. There were definitely some romance but I guess it was lacking for me. I thought that the first part would push them to confess to each other but it suddenly ended without much happening. I do understand too as this is just based on the light novel and they tried their best to stick to it. As for the art, it never disappoints. It was just perfect and I can even say that it is better than the first series. Overall, I enjoyed it but feels lacking on the chemistry/romance between the two but I do know th…

The first season was good. Not a masterpiece but well balanced. I was so hyped to watch the second and man ... spoilers ahead. I really don't know why would anyone call this anime "romantic". (yes we're talking about the anime not the LN here). In the anime there is no real romantic development. In the second season the characters are out of their skin ... they're nothing like the ones in the first season. The MC turned into a boot licking simp, the Wolf entity turned into a toxic , whiny little "girl". I know it's hard to perfectly write a character especially when its a female entity with a twisted mind, but cmon ... it's not because i can't feel sorry for them anymore but because their actions are irrational especially compared to their old self. I completed the anime just to allow my…

The first season was awesome, so I went into the sequel with high expectations, but was horribly let down. I'm a sucker for information-dense anime, so I didn't mind the use of economics in either season, but the fact that Holo was being sold off twice in this season just rubbed me the wrong way. The ending was simply lacklustre and the romance was possibly the blandest thing I've ever seen. Lawrence was so pathetic and clueless at times, I questioned myself as to why I'm continuing the season. The only saving grace for the anime would probably be how nice the sounds of nature were, for example, sounds of rain along with the music. Loved how engaging that was and how it saved the scenes from becoming an absolute snooze-fest. I LOVE Holo's character so much and this season did NOT make h…

Once again, a lot of dialogue but y'know I was not expecting anything less and... I loved it. This was honestly even better than the first season. Once again, amazing plot.. amazing characters, fantastic art.. just wow. I am so glad I watched this anime. Their romance is amazing still and progresses in a realistic, authentic way. It was realistic based on the time period of the anime. I am so glad I picked up the first season on whim. People who like action or suspense all the time may not enjoy this anime. A lot of the enjoyment comes from the intricacy of the dialogue that builds the story throughout most of the anime.

Despite delivering on all the things the first season hooked me with Spice and Wolf's second season left me with a constant sour taste in my mouth. Probably the biggest cause was the overreliances of misunderstandings and miscommunication threating to break up Laurance and Holo's relationship for the sake of building drama and suspense. While it's true my favorite part of the first season was watching the back and forth of their relationship, with my enjoyment of the mercantile scheming mostly linked to what sort of interesting scenarios it presented that partnership with, part of why I enjoyed it was because it seemed so much more maturely written, because it never plumbed those cliché misunderstanding plot points for drama even when my tv tropes savvy expected it to. Another factor is pr…

Continuing on from a strong first season, the second season of Spice and Wolf takes a step back with some unfortunate storytelling mistakes, but still retains the core of what made the first season so excellent, the strong lead characters and their relationship. Unfortunately, that relationship is where many of the season's plot problems lie, as both major arcs involve the prospect of Holo being sold off to be the bride of an unlikable minor character. Perhaps one of these would have been fine, but twice is unfortunate, and replicates a problem from the first season of using familiar storylines multiple times in the same season. The bigger problem lies with the first arc involving the precocious teenage merchant Amarty. The story is overly melodramatic, teases an outcome that anyone with…

I pretty much did a big summery of the review on the First season and Second season on my first season review but have to add this. The story I wish they ended up continuing, however I really like the series and will keep hoping they will continue it, the whole series is quite enjoyable in all aspects, at least for me anyways. Overall the story is really good just wished they continue it but they probably won't do that so I will be buying the light novels and such (Also apparently the author for the light novels has a sequel to Spice and Wolf named Wolf in Parchment but it's set after the events of the light novel of this series it looks like so I wouldn't grab that after you watched this series cause you will probably be really confused)

This one will be short – can’t promise but I’ll do my best. It’s been about a week since I finished Spice and Wolf Season 2, and this is a review that I’ve come to after a good deal of retroflection on the show. I first saw S1 as part of my then-college’s anime club about a year ago, and really loved the unique themes and characterizations that the show dealt with. Most of all, however, I fell deeper in love with the outstanding opening, a song that I’ve been listening to for many years now. Now I return to S2 with fairly high expectations and a better understanding of what makes this show unique. I’ll spoil the end of this review by saying this, but I can pretty confidently say that while I enjoyed S2, it didn’t hit quite as well as S1 did, and I feel that there were some distinct area…

Oh man i had high expectation after the first season, which i rated 9/10 by the way. The journey of lawrence and holo continue and i feel like the first half of the second season, is why i didn't rate this even lower. It made sense at first, but pass the halfway of this 2nd season, it feels like our 2 main protagonist lost their way and development. Not gonna lie, it let me with a bitter taste and that ending was a big MEH. At times, i just couldn't bare the unreasonable decisions made and expected more. They went through so much but it's like they started over and tried to redeem it all at the very end, but poorly made. I understand the slow build up of certain anime series but i can't bare characters that don't grow from their mistakes. Honestly if it wasn't for the first half of this s…

Not as good as the first season. While I still enjoyed the dynamic between Lawrence and Holo, I found a lot of the conflicts between them to be very contrived. In both of the main arcs of the series, the show presents the two separating as a real possibility even though they clearly love each other and have the greatest chemistry of any 2 people, ever. Acting like Holo is so fickle or Lawrence is too greedy isn’t convincing anyone. Furthermore, the problem still exists with Lawrence going from clever genius to bumbling loser that can only make shocked noises and say Holo’s name over and over again when placed in an unexpected situation. I HATE when anime shows do this. Nobody acts this way in real life. Nevertheless, the art is still nice, the trading is still interesting, and the char…

Really amazing anime. One of the only anime that managed to break out of that cringy, cheesy, egregiously animated romance anime trend. The show is self-exhibitory in the sense that it require no exaggeration in actions, emotions or monologue to bring out the characters' inner feelings. No lap pillows, no giant boobs, no busty features ...... yet everyone loves our plain lovely deity, holo. Background was featured eatured like many isekai genre, in medieval period but story was never illogical in the sense that normal human could suddenly resurrect, survive a fall from a cliff, humans were animated as realistic as possible. Villains in story were also portrayed humanely in the sense that none would be so out of mind to make a move without considering outcome, have their own personal cause…

well First thing If you are a person that enjoy reading books specially romance novels you going to love this anime. spice and wolf is a book more than an anime. story is the characters , their relationship , their every small reaction to every event and etc. story is Exactly as is should be, one soothing romance story that slowly hunt your soul.Story of a wolf goddess named Holo The wise wolf and simple merchant named craft lawrence traveling together through a fantasy world which looks like old Europe in 13th century where churches have lot of power and control most cities. though it looks like one "SIMPLE" story but it isn't actually. there are lot of point in story when you feel extremely excited. but after all we can summary the story of anime in two words " Holo and lawrence" The "S…
