Third season of Overlord is just like the first one, except without all that made it interesting in the first place.
All plot points that could make the anime interesting got abandoned, there is no tension or any kind of sense in Ainz' actions whatsoever.
The show at this stage is just watching pointless side characters for at least half of the time, then see how they are obliterated.
If it's a story about building a powerful nation by an OP main character, it really fails to introduce any sensible plans, tactics, strategy or meaningful drama. All the mystery and goals from previous seasons were completely abandoned.
Ainz is an empty character that you can't possibly root for because his actions are reprehensible and often pointless, which makes watching this so frustrating…

Well, Season 3 is still a Masterpiece, just like the first two seasons. It continues to deliver that signature dark isekai experience with strong seinen vibes.
However, I have to be honest — this season has one noticeable disadvantage. While watching, I often got the feeling that something was missing and that the story was a bit rushed. Everything happens quite fast, and some arcs don’t get as much room to breathe as they probably should.
After doing some research, I realized what was missing: **Ainz’s inner monologues**. The Light Novels are full of his anxious overthinking, salaryman mindset, and detailed strategic thoughts. The anime cuts a lot of that, which makes the season feel faster and sometimes less deep than it could have been.
Despite the rushed feeling, Season 3 still deliv…

This review will be for the first three seasons of the anime.
I will get the good things out of the way first. I like the character designs a lot, at least those of Nazerick, I think all of the guardians and maids are very well designed and they are interesting, they have their own personalities. All of the openings and endings are very good and the illustrations by so-bin are just too beautiful. Despite being an isekai anime amongst many, the premise is compelling and the first season makes it seem like what is to come is going to be very interesting...
And that's it, the first season has its own flaws and the next two seasons don't improve on it, if anything, they are slightly worse. There are no stakes at all in this anime, the only ones to perish and struggle are npcs that is very ha…

Now like I always say don't misunderstand the shallow reason you read or watch a story for the real intention behind the author. A lot of shallow readers and watchers watch and read Overlord for the power fantasy. Overlord is an award winning work.
Others like myself read it and watch it for the lore. I am sure the author writes it for the lore as well because he is still expanding the world and revealing new information about the world even though he is ending it. Volumes 14 and 15 and the ghostship side story are proof of that.
This is what Overlord fans and him are interested in. Ainz being evil and super powerful is a consequence of the writing not the core. It's a feature essential for the storytelling not the appeal of Overlord.
I could read and watch Overlord and enjoy it as much…

This will be a Review of the whole three Anime Seasons. After this point I dropped the show and there is a very simple reason for why.
Re-watching all of the Episode up to the end of Season 3 made it blatadly obvious how this show is not just structured in a way for it to have zero stakes but also how you can sum all of it up in three sentences.
If a Character is named outside of Nazarick they will survive. If a character is living in Nazarick they are save. Everyone else in the world is a powerless NPC and will eventually face the Great Overlord Ainz and be subjugated by him.
Every single scene, interaction or even "twist" the first Season of this Show promised at the start can be broken down to this pattern and honestly? It's insulting! Insulting to the intelligence, insulting to the…

This season dives even deeper into the dark fantasy genre. From the perspective of Nazarick, it still carries elements of dark comedy and fantasy, with the characters enjoying their twisted sense of humor and overwhelming power. At its core, Overlord remains a dark comedy fantasy, where the humor and fantasy elements are wrapped in a darker, more unsettling tone. However, from our perspective as viewers, the story has taken a much darker turn—far darker than it already was in previous seasons. The lines between comedy and horror are now more blurred, and the consequences of Ainz’s actions feel heavier, making the world increasingly grim and unforgiving.
Story
This season adapts Volumes 7, 8, and 9 of the light novel. Interestingly, it covers Volume 8 before Volume 7, as that order makes…

Oh my god season 3 is boring!
13 episodes of nothing happening.
Overlord III has the same issue as Overlord II but times 10.
It focuses waayyyyy too much on things that are not at all interesting.
Focusing on a girl and her goblins for 3 episodes is not interesting. Neither is some kid’s love story. This is not a slice of life. Its supposed to be action fantasy. I don’t want to watch a village girl run errands for 3 episodes.
When the focus is actually on the main character and his team its genuinely great and interesting to watch.
But then there are these long scenes that take forever focusing on people I have no idea who they are or why I should care.
Seriously who are these people that this show feels like it needs to focus on? Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like these are scene…

Overall:
if you are reading this, you are watching it anyway, so yeah. Do keep in mind that this is a sequel to my overlord II review.
Ah yes, a guy got Isekai into a fantasy world.... as an evil overlord. As an isekai junkie, I am set to watch all isekai. This is one of those that explore the trope. Before I actually get to the review part, I would say that this anime's isekai world is probably one of the most solid and well-thought-out. It isn't the isekai you watch to kill time, it is the one you watch to thing and enjoy the ride. Short conclusion: 8.25/10
Driving deeper
Art: Attack of the bad CGI, OOF, it is bad. If we ignore the CGI monster, I think the art is pretty good, as usual.
7/10
Character: The author continues to surprise me with more and more well-thought-out characters…

Season 3 is the first 'mixed bag' of Overlord, which started to have cracks and becoming mundane, without the thrill we'd been used to.
The first aspect where the problems started to show themselves is the World Building. The presentation and implementation of the Bamaruth Empire was pretty much flawless as worthy of Overlord, but other aspects and certainly power levels began to radiate minor inconsistencies.
The problem transmitted to the Plot as well, but it wasn't its most garish aspect. Most of the 13 episodes were centered around Characters who we do not really care about, or who were either stationary or not in danger. While it wasn't a flaw character-wise, it meant that there wasn't much stakes as it became obvious that the developed legacy characters weren't in mortal danger.

Overlord III picks up as anyone would expect. There are certain mini aspects that keep happening that while they don't completely ruin it for me, do however cause the show to drag a bit now that I am through three seasons.
The show itself is definitely "moving along" in the best sense possible for the way it is presented. I think the show has always done and continues to do a pretty good job of incorporating little segmented stories to go along with Ainz and his ultimate goal, which sometimes gets morphed by a certain floor guardian and Ainz is forced to improvise a bit. It does provide a bit of comedy relief for me when done right.
It was nice to see the Carne Village crew get a little bit of screen time this season and I really enjoyed how it was thought out. The goblins themselves ha…

I don't dislike season 3, but I don't love it. I think it's mediocre. If you're a big Overlord fan, you will enjoy it. If not, much like season 2- you will find it to be kind of bland. Don't get me wrong though- there are many good parts to this season. But like season 2, it's kind of a cluster mess with a bunch of plots that don't really interwine, as well as new characters that no one cares about which we pretty much know will die anyways.
To sum up the plot without spoiler: basically this season is Ains Ool Gown continuing his quest to further his name and heighten Nazarick's greatness. He does this by uhh...killing a bunch of innocent people. Basically, Ains no longer has any feelings for humans, so he's willing to use them to further his goals. So yeah- he's not even remotely a hero…

Since this is season III already, writing or reading reviews is quite pointless. What else do you expect them to say than simply "more of the same"?
If you watched the previous ones and found them at least somewhat bearable, you will watch this one as well regardless of reviews.
I actually thought this season started much stronger than the last one. No silly lizard love stories and soap operas, no pointless battles between hard-to-keep-track-of characters and downright made-up villains... Until suddenly, the utterly stupid and annoying "Foresight" arc happened. So of course the score for this season can not be anything but 1.

The Overlord anime presents a protagonist with dubious objectives, confusing character, and half-baked sociopathy. Characters who have no concern for ethics in their quests for a clear objective can be very enjoyable to watch when written well, as exemplified by works like Death Note. The Overlord protagonist, in contrast, lacks both a clear objective and the resolve commonly possessed by such characters to achieve said objective. After being transported to a different world, Ainz's main goal shifts randomly between "being someone fit for his position", "spread his name so former friends can easily find him", and "protect the legacy of him and his friends". However, he does not demonstrate a strong interest in any of these goals, not…

The third season of Overlord is an enjoyable show. There is much action, and the plot is engaging. The whole concept of Overlord has always been somewhat original. Viewers who seek gore and cruelty won’t be disappointed. The whole process of assessing technicalities is mundane and worthless, so I will go straight to the point.
The main reason for me to write this review is to put a certain thought into words. Ainz and Nazarick are extremely powerful and merciless. It would not be an exaggeration to say that their capabilities are closer to the gods than humans. This whole show perfectly demonstrates the pitifulness of the human condition. We are powerless in the face of greater forces. Whether these forces are the state, society, gods, or the concepts of time and existence. Every person pu…

Overlord - 3
If you made it to season 3 and still don't like this show, give up, this Anime will follow the same pattern to the bitter end.
The third season of Ainz Ooal Gown continues to show us his pitiful attempts to come across as an authentic Overlord. By not intending half of his plans himself and his allies simply being more interpretive, he always manages to save himself. If it weren't for his incredible luck and that everyone is blindly in love with him, he would have been busted long ago. But even this has a certain amusing charm.
Again, the show makes slow progress and Ainz's gambling again claims an immense number of lives, this time more than ever before. Along the way, we are shown 50x how awesome his power is and how impressive his allies are. As if you didn't notice thi…

This definitely seems to be getting more into the swing of things now as they reveal the Great Tomb of Nazarick to the world, and be unapologetically kind of evil, and you know what - i can get behind that. This was a little slow at times and the battles can feel kind of same-y after a while, and the latter half of the season was definitely superior to the first half for me (though that seems to be a running theme with Overlord apparently), but this was a fun watch and was definitely my favourite season of this yet. Sometimes it can just be fun to watch people plot and scheme to get there way and not necessarily be nice about it.

The series is now little more than torture porn with no redeeming value whatsoever. If the idea of watching an unassimilably powerful monster torture innocent people to death for their own amusement with nothing in the way of meaningful plot, character development, or nuance is appealing to you, that is to say, the target audience for this show, instead of watching it, please get help.
Honestly, there just isn't anything more to say about it. There are plenty of shows with villain protagonists that make them interesting or compelling or at least in a weird way make you want to root for them, like Death Note or Black Lagoon - even the first couple seasons danced around this line, teasing will they, won't they in terms of how far Ainz was going to slide and would he hold onto his humanity…

Ok, this anime is truly dreadful. Its truly impressive how they managed to execute such an interesting idea so poorly. I will leave the story to the end since it might contain spoilers.
First of all, the art is lazy at best. Its generally very low quality, and also very low budget for a show that is in its third season. Scenes that show several monsters/characters literally copy paste the exact character multiple times to create a group. Not even a shadow on the face or any part of the clothing is different. The world feels like rough work at best.
The sound is fine, the op and en songs are good imo, but during the show itself sometimes it feels like the mood and the sound accompanying it do not mesh together well. For the first time ever, I actually burst out laughing at one scene bec…

I really enjoy watching all the overlord seasons and it is amazing to see the story of Momonga/Ainz. He is pretty over powered and thats is why I love this anime, it is fun and cool to watch and the characters are pretty good. Of course some of the sound and background could be better and they could go into better detail into how things work because they do leave a bit of detail behind and you have to go read the manga to understand some bits. But I am excited for season 4 and will continue to love this anime.

If you enjoy watching an overpowered psychopathic protagonist, who often comments that he feels nothing for the humans he casually and cruelly slaughters, this is the anime for you. His underlings who are programmed to fawn over him are even more sadistic and evil and really pretty patchetic because of it.
No, they didn't actually show the 100,000 civilians his underlings slaughtered to fool people into thinking he's a hero nor do you get to see what are likely the humans that an underling strongly hints he's farming for parchment for scrolls (they get mentioned in passing because the author and anime producers are too cowardly to actually show that because it might make too many viewers unable to ignore how much of a loathsome villain the titular character is) but you do get to see him a…
