Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement

Introduction

Mitsuha Yamano could not have had it worse. After failing to enter her university of choice and losing her entire family in an accident, she finds herself plummeting off a cliff due to an especially fragile guardrail. Through what seems to be the only bit of the fortune left in her life, Mitsuha's firm unwillingness to die allows her to be transported to another world, where she ends up surviving. In this foreign land, Mitsuha wanders around for days before collapsing from exhaustion and being rescued by a little girl named Colette. Not long after, she finds herself in yet another life-threatening situation, and her indomitable will shines once more, granting her an audience with a divine cosmic being. The entity reveals to Mitsuha that she has acquired not only superhuman regeneration but also the ability to transport between worlds at will. Armed with this new information, Mitsuha brainstorms ways to utilize her newfound power to its full potential. Realizing that she can take goods from Earth and resell them to the other world at a higher price, she resolves to save up eighty thousand gold coins to be able to retire comfortably. It's an alright isekai adventure. The characters are cute, and the world isn't that gritty, so it's a bit of a casual watch. If you are an isekai enjoyer, it has all the things you would look for. Overpowered abilities, scaling up over time, people being impressed by the main character. One issue I had, is the brother chiming in on every situations felt a bit weird. It's like she memorized everything he told her, and he's somehow an expert on everything in every situation. Like, they basically use him as a crutch to explaiin how she can know about so many things. Maybe they also wanted to have a male character show up often, since despite the female lead, it seems more geared toward a male audience. Anyway, overall it's an okay watch. If you're looking for your next isekai fix, you could…

Gimme gimme gimme that Isekai slop!!! I love it, and I'm proud of it. But here's where THIS Isekai stands alone from the usual... We've gotta come up with a new word to describe this sub-genre of Isekai, where the MC has the ability to spawn real world items into the fantasy world. Perhaps "Utsusu". Anyways, I've been hunting and searching everywhere for more anime of this particular genre. Shows like "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" and "The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World" fit into this sub genre. I'd even include "Restaurant to Another World", even if food is the ONLY thing being presented, It counts! So let's talk about this anime in particular. It was funny, but it wasn't a laugh a minute like The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Onli…

"In Another World With My Beretta 93R" Look, this not a Shakespearian masterpiece: the characters are not that deep, it doesn't present philosophical dilemmas and the plot is not full of twists and turns. That said, the characters are charming enough and there are some elements that aren't exactly typical. The main character doesn't seek conflict but doesn't go "I have no enemies" when violence is imminent. Despite me the problem solvas having quite the presence in the show it's actually fairly wholesome as the core of it is the protagonist making connections and making money while enjoying the process. If what you've read sounds like a good time then give it a shot. If it sounds boring then don't. If you expect Black Lagoon or Jormungand but isekai then... God, I wish... No, this is n…

The story and pacing were pretty good. I really liked the MC and how she planned out things. For once, MC is not an overpowered generic teenage boy who can defeat anything with his OP ability, MC has cheat skills, true, but it is not a catch-all-insta-win skill. The fact that her combat ability comes from getting firearms and training from a paramilitary company is much preferred to the usual insta-win magic stuff. I like how much MC bullshits everyone in order for her to cover her usage of her cheat-skill. She makes up lies on the spot and is not afraid to pulls off schemes. Lacking noble connections? Dress up as a foreign noble and bullshit everyone without batting an eye. People questioning how wares seems to just appear in her shop? Make commoners think you are a witch and bluff the no…

Honestly, this feels very refreshing for an Isekai. There are some standard tropes, such as the dead family and presumed death, however the setup slightly differs from most of the other shows. Instead of dying and being reborn in another world, or instead of being summoned by a magic ritual in the other world, the show finds an interesting and humorous mix of the two. During a near-death experience where Mitsuha is plummeting to her death, she manages to somehow "grab onto" a spiritual being of similar power to a God. She accidentally manages to transport herself to another planet safely in this moment and, after some time, finds footing as she is able to move back and forth between Earth and this new, uncharted world. Dealing with the locals and engaging in the sort of heirarchy climbing…

“Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement” is what happens when a Mary Sue plays with capitalism. So yeah… I actually had high hopes for this one. After reading the synopsis I was actually expecting something witty. Something, maybe not totally original, but at least some clever ways of using Mitsuha’s (the MC) powers to earn money. Unfortunately I was the only one thinking that could be a good idea. The writing served me only the most basic, common and safe examples of multi world commerce. On top of that in a world, seemingly filled with idiots (seriously, the social part of world building is trash). I do believe that this show is a wasted opportunity to play around with at least three genres — comedy, economy and isekai — but that would require a writer who has more unders…

I honestly believe this might be the worst isekai I've had the misfortune of watching, and that's saying a lot considering I've sat through In Another World With My Smartphone. The writing is a major disappointment. The plot feels juvenile, with scenarios that lack any depth or realistic stakes. It's as if the story was written for a very young demographic. What makes it even worse is the main character's luck. Their continuous, unbelievably convenient good fortune is so over-the-top that it completely breaks the immersion. Even in a genre built on wish fulfillment, this level of improbable luck is just too much to accept. Its so bad that i have to watch it in 2x speed and sometimes at 4x speed.

Firstly, I'm not one to actually follow through with reviewing things, but this show was so bad that I had to. Secondly, I'm assuming the studio probably had a very constrained budget, which only contributed more to the inferior animation quality & in no way is the fault of the animators involved - they had to work with what they got. So at the end of the day, they delivered, but holy fuck is the product garbage. The narrative depth is extremely surface-level level and the execution of the plot made it very hard to empathize with the main conflicts and action scenes. The cringe and incompetence the MC displays were most likely the result of the attributes mentioned above and only exacerbate the cringe of arcs that are supposedly to be the most intense.

Isekai anime is a big genre, and there's so many out there it's hard to pick ones that are good. Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for my Retirement is, overall, a decent anime but it does have quite a few bumps. Mitsuha Yamano is a fun character, and the premise had a really solid start with her ability to jump between worlds at will. The first few episodes are actually pretty solid and very enjoyable. Seeing Mitsuha come up with a retirement plan by exploiting her ability to bring modern goods into a medieval world is entertaining. Mitsuha is also a very intriguing character, with some of her interests being peculiar. There is a nice bit of comedy, and even a particularly touching emotional scene that sneaks up on you. However, I would say after episode 8 is where the series start to…

Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-manmai no Kinka o Tamemasu" is a witty and entertaining isekai with a brilliant twist: instead of saving the world, the protagonist is planning for retirement. That premise alone gives the series a distinct tone — humorous, strategic, and incredibly fun to follow. The main character is pragmatic, confident, and uses her knowledge wisely, making her both overpowered and sharply intelligent without ever becoming arrogant. Watching her navigate both modern life and fantasy settings with equal mastery is one of the show's greatest pleasures. The story mixes slice-of-life charm with clever world-building, introducing various challenges that the protagonist handles with creativity and flair. It’s a power fantasy, yes — but one that thrives on smart decisions, playf…

Man, finding a new great isekai to watch after consuming a lot of it is really a challenge these days. Frieren set the bar too high for me, so trying out overlooked animes like this one always pays off more than the consequence of wasting your time. First of all, the MC is just perfect. She's someone you will enjoy to watch going through different challenges. She's a dependable girl and fits perfectly for the plot laid on hand. The way they deliver jokes is great, animation is solid. I'm just a little bit sad that there's no plan for s2 but hey, it ended pretty well. If you're just tryna find a light-hearted show to watch after work or on your day offs, then this is what you're looking for. Give it a shot :)

This anime is really good just for passing the time, don't expect anything more than killing time. I have to admit that the concept of this anime seemed extremely interesting to me—the ability to travel between dimensions, the mystery of the 'God' who gave the power, plus the relationship with his brother and the tragic story of his family. But definitely, the execution of this anime was really mediocre. It gives the impression that a group of writers got together for a brainstorming session to create this anime, and after having the original concept, they handed it over to an AI to automatically generate the episodes one after another. With better direction, surely a better budget, and definitely much better screenwriters, this anime could have been one of the best—perhaps even approach…

Fun premise for an anime. What if someone could freely travel between the modern world and an isekai world, what would you do? What the protagonist does is decide to sell goods from the modern world in the other world, and then exchange the currency back in our world for a heafty profit to save up for a retirement in either world. However, due to sometimes not thinking things through she sometimes gets the wrong reactions from the other world people. Fun characters of course and decent animation, though I will doc points for them somewhat often falling back on CGI for wide shots in some of the crowd scenes and stuff.

this show is so underwhelmingly boring. there is zero to little development in every episode even playing this in the background felt dull, it was like a goddamn ppt show. although the show's concept is quite the refresher compared to the rest of its kind (isekai), that's the only thing it offers, nothing else. mitsuha aka the female lead aka the only lead aka the only person they want you to focus on, does not provide basic entertainment. she tries to conduct antics, but the execution is so overused it just makes you go: oh, okay. but if you do enjoy a witty, ambitious/imaginative lady (or tries to be) just trying to do her own stuff, you could settle. side characters were made like they're only here to make mitsuha glow and shine. people have random emotion breakouts and it's hard for…

TLDR This show isn't without its flaws, and if you're not into Isekai this won't convert you. It is, however, fun with a (mostly) likable protagnoist, a slightly different spin and a silly plot that rarely takes itself too seriously. Further thoughts Mitsuha is the protagonist. She's a go-getter, likable but somewhat mercenary in her convictions. While there is a fun supporting cast don't expect any found family stuff, despite the premise. She's looking out for herself mostly. This isn't a negative, but it is worth considering if you like the found family stuff. There's no real world building here and the final arc comes out of no-where. Again, these aren't negatives for me but it all leads to a final confrontation which is magnificently stupid. I loved it, but it is the peak of ridiculo…

This one is a doozy for me, I like the concept, the execution? Could have been better. It's bad enough we have this unending pile of Isekai, diluting the genre, it's worse anyone with an isekai fantasy can come up with an interesting concept and completely waste it, the anime is too caught up in the details, there isn't a bigger story, just characters that act in favor of their heroin when she needs them to, they are impressed by salt on food, the bar is really low, and soon enough she becomes this great at everything, so there isn't even a chance she'd be caught off guard unprepared, nope, who wants unpredictable plots? Right? all in all, this is someone's fantasy, so they wrote it, and it's out there, not compelling writing, forgettable as soon as the episode are over, it doesn't sti…

In my opinion, this is an Isekai anime that is not very popular but has an interesting storyline. Unlike other Isekai, which mostly have storylines that are already marketed, this one has its own story. For starters, when he met Dewa, he said, it was a little strange and those who watched decided to stop without thinking. However, if you continue, you will like it. The thing I like the most is that there is a combination of militaries from the current world and Isekai, so this military force dominates in Isekai. And this is rare when modern military forces are in Isekai, Maybe there's only 1 in my opinion, namely Gate Jietai. Yes, more or less like that, for those of you who like the military and join Isekai, this is one choice to watch. However, it is very unfortunate, as I said before,…

This show honestly surprised me, in a good way. The story was fun, surprisingly realistic (for an isekai or sorta-isekai), and it didn't follow all the tropes (yay!). There were a lot of things done in this story that I have not seen portrayed anywhere else in anime, and that originality made this so much more enjoyable. The art might be lacking some, but a solid story is present with plenty of comedy and thoughtfulness. The realistic choices and reactions by characters are such a relief in the OP-MC Isekai story and for that alone this makes the show worth a watch within the genre. Hopefully this story gets more followup but even if it doesn't, this season ended on a good note. Closed up the important parts of the story and opened the ability to add so much more.

Not a very good anime. Animation in terms of fluidity was pretty average and unimpressive, but also occasionally a little hacky. In terms of the frame to frame... awful. Backgrounds are ugly 90% of the time, characters are drawn average a best. The characters are shallow, not really all that likeable, but occasionally they can be entertaining. Pacing is mostly average, the beginning is painfully slow though. The voice acting is strictly average, not by any means impressive, but not the worst either. Soundtrack is average if listened to by itself, but on top of that it's poorly scored. I hated the first half, and could tolerate the second half. Overall it's only really held together by the "not your normal isekai" gimmick, but even with it is below the average anime in terms of basically ev…

Super enjoyable! Light and funny anime, but this is for the first time. We have seen the impact of two civilizations who have different levels - at some point we have situations like this on Aztec etc. But in anime we mostly saw economic impact, and a little bit ecological. Some people say Mitsuha takes damage to this world by selling chemical and plastic products but it is so small in scale about our pollution, and pretty sure people used bottles again - because they never saw the plastic in first place. I say as a person who wrote a dissertation on ecology. Also selling useful stuff, Mitsuha sells ideas to people or scientists - eventually this increases some technology, probably xD. Cookery school example of this! I've been watching it very enjoyable several times. It is not perfect -…
