Rozen Maiden

Rozen Maiden

Introduction

Traumatized by school, Jun Sakurada spends his days at home as a shut-in, purchasing things online, only to send them back before the free trial period ends. So when a note appears on his desk, asking whether or not he would wind something, he assumes it was something he ordered and carelessly circles "yes," changing his life forever. A box arrives with a wind up doll inside, but this is no ordinary toy: after Jun winds her up, she begins walking and talking as if a normal person. With a haughty attitude, she introduces herself as Shinku, the fifth doll in the Rozen Maiden collection, a group of special dolls made by the legendary dollmaker Rozen. These sisters must battle each other in a competition called the Alice Game with the help of a human to ensure victory. The winner becomes Alice, a real girl who is worthy of meeting their creator. As more sentient dolls end up taking residence in Jun's house, and a foe from Shinku's past makes her appearance, Jun's life becomes far more complicated than he ever thought possible. 🎀Powder Puff Smack-Down👸🏼 °5.5° °avg° 💯%🔍 Ribbons. Curls. Lace. High tea. Condescension. This isn't for everyone. RAM is dolls come to life - in the creepy way you are imagining, and in ep1 we see the Whopper with fries - a killer 🤹 clown. What happens to nearly every person who brings a collectible doll into the home? A doll collection, that's what! So many faces! The faces all have mouths with squeaky but sinister voices and soulless eyes looking their way! Ugh! They sleep in their suitcases like little coffins! I'm afflicted with other issues, dolls don't spook me, so I managed to watch it all. But, DANG, this is messed up! Based on a manga by Peach-Pit, per Wiki: “In the 20th century, a legendary doll maker named Rozen created seven bisque dolls which were powered and given se…

Wanted to like this more than i ended up doing. To me after the first episode which i really enjoyed and got my hopes up it fell pretty flat and ended just being an ok anime. Worth a watch and entertaining enough but no more. Story was very dissapointing. Felt like nothing happened. No real development for some actual plot but rather episodic slice of life. When it does touch upon some plot points it never goes much deeper though but rather drops it quickly. Its a shame because i enjoyed the characters. Especially the dolls and the MC doll. She was ”cooler” than i expected and what similar characters usually are in anime. Enjoyed the original soundtrack but OP and ED didnt hit it for me. As i said its entertaining enough with some fun bits but never hits the high notes to get me enga…

*Rozen Maiden* is a series filled with toys, whether those toys be the Rozen Maidens themselves as the little bisque dolls—no, Kitagawa Marin is not in this series—that are involved in the Alice Game, or the toys that litter Sakurada Jun’s bedroom. Jun’s perspective on life effectively mirrors how he treats the various boxes, toys, or “goods” strewn about – something that is not worthy of holding onto, and casting away anything that could tie him to those things. His bedroom is thus a place of hikkikomori withdrawal from the world. He is, in essence, toying with the rules of the cozy little reality he has crafted for himself, where he is master of all, especially in regards to his mastery of returning things by the cutoff date for the money back guarantee. His behavior is just as thrifty a…

This is my very first MAL review. I've had this account for years, but this anime left SUCH an impact on me that it made me break my silence. I hope that impresses upon you, dear reader, how much I adore Rozen Maiden. I apologize if this is too personal, but this anime just hit so close to home, I had no choice but to make it personal. If you want to skip what basically turned into my life story (again, Rozen Maiden is VERY personal to me...), skip to the tl;dr at the end. *sigh* Okay. Here goes! I've wanted to watch Rozen Maiden ever since I was a little girl and I saw clips of it on Youtube. Back then, the idea of it appealed to me because I had a collection of ball-jointed dolls, which I have since given to my niece. I adored those dolls (more about that in a second), but I never knew…

Rozen Maiden is a gothic horror story with action elements. As the show progresses, we are introduced to a variety of characters and alternate worlds that use human psyches to give them structure, contributing to the show's unique atmosphere. However, it took some time for me to become invested. One of the main characters and his attitude were responsible for my initial hesitation. When the series began, we were introduced to a girl who declined an invitation to play sports because she had to take care of her brother, who she claimed was unwell. Yet, the first glimpse we get of Jun is him sitting in front of his computer, shopping online for various items he intends to return before the payment is due. When his sister returns home, he orders her to carry the items he purchased to the post…

I will say I am bias to the art style, so it gets a +1 from me. Overall it is an average anime nothing super interesting and that's fine. I found it to be a nice middle ground of not a very super happy anime but not something too dark like made in Abyss, it is just neutral. Since the story doesn't really require you to put on am extra large thinking cap to analyze every scene it is perfect watch over the weekend. if nothing else I do recommend listening to the opening theme song. Things I didn't like about this anime. It doesn't really help us understand some of the characters powers or abilities, which is understandable with the twelve episode run.

I would consider this series to be a pretty good anime series. It isn't too complicated, and it's funny, but it also does get in to some more serious things that the main character is going through. I discovered this anime because of my love of ball-jointed dolls. Chances are very good that if you like ball-jointed dolls, you will appreciate this anime. Almost everybody I've met that likes ball-jointed dolls has at least heard of it. Most of the characters are dolls, and they are very lovable. This season's focus is on the main character and a personal hurdle that he's struggling with. I think it's very relatable, as, even if not to the same extent, I think we have all felt like him at some point in our lives. The music in this anime is pleasant, and the art is typical of what you can e…

Rozen Maiden has ruined my life, like it has done to so many others. Less than a week ago, I thought the premise of the show was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard. Suiseiseki was just a meme, and I didn't even know any other characters. But then I watched the first episode. And then the second. And couldn't stop until I was done with Traumend. That was four days ago. By then, I was hopelessly entangled. I was in love with the show and the dolls. I started daydreaming that I was a member of the show's cast, or that I had a Rozen Maiden of my own. I suddenly had a craving for tea, so I went out and bought some, and it's all I've been drinking these past few days. And then it got even worse. Two days ago, I watched Overture. Now, I'm hopelessly in love with Suigintou. All I want from life i…

Rozen Maiden is the best thing that Peach Pit had doneーin my opinion. I dropped Trickster, because it was absolute garbage, and DearS was one the worst things that I have ever watched and/or read. I’m not sure if it was just that the anime was handled well, because I haven’t read the manga, but Rozen Maiden: The Animated Series is leagues better than the others. • The concept of a doll being crafted to a be a human entertains fascinating speculations on mortality, just like the series that came out around the same time, Chobits, did with its human-like androids. I feel that Rozen Maiden could have gone further with this line of thinking and it would have made the series a bit better. • As it’s stands, Shinku and Suigento are the only interesting characters in the show. The protagonist…

Creative and original story ✔ Lovable and adorable characters ✔ Good mix of both action and comedic humour ✔✔ Rozen Maiden truly is a unique anime, for 2004 the art is quite amazing and it gets even better if you watch this version before the 2013 remake. The anime has a unique set of characters that make your instantly fall in love with. You would expect an anime about dolls fighting to the death to be quite creepy and horror like but this is the complete opposite, it actually shows them in a more light and comedic image whilst at the same time maintaining good paced action and character development. The only thing i would say could be improved would be the lack of plot at times. Sometimes the anime is quite unevenly paced, one episode there fighting to the death and the next there havi…

Rozen Maiden was the first anime I've seen and it was the very reason I got into the medium. That's why this title is so special to me and because of that there might be some sentiment speaking through me. The main character of this story is Jun Sakurada, a shut in teenager, who lives apart from his parents, doesn't attend school and rarely ever goes out. He orders many extravagant things online and returns them before he has to pay for them. One day he receives a mysterious letter which he doesn't take seriously, and being asked whether he will "wind or not", he agrees. As a result, he becomes the owner of a living doll, Shinku. (Or maybe it's Shinku that becomes his owner?) As the story goes on, more dolls are introduced and the reason behind them appearing is being unveiled. Long stor…

Rozen Maiden, an anime that can have drama, action and comedy all in perfect harmony. The anime revolves around a creator of dolls created a legendary collection of 7 living dolls, called "Rozen Maiden", he puts them in a game, in order to know which doll is worthy of becoming "Alice" the perfect girl. The story follows Jun, a hikikimori which has a school trauma and accidentally becomes master of the fifth doll, Shinku. The anime has a melancholy and mysterious air, this can be seen mainly in the opening of the anime and in his scenarios. It has a very interesting story and endearing characters. Something very interesting in this anime is that the author did a story with a boy as protagonist surrounded dolls, breaking the stereotype that only girls should be involved with dolls without…

This is a story about dolls that must battle to become the perfect doll. Their creator was trying to create the perfect girl who I believe could be his daughter so he made the dolls to see who was the best. While most people would think that this concept is a lot like other shows where the girls fighting each other is only for the sake of a bit of fan service if a boob escapes their clothing, they are pretty much mistaken. In fact, there is barely any sort of fan service in the show besides maybe one point where the girls are in their undergarments while their clothing is being watched, but even that is rather modest. The dolls are not over sexualized. In fact, they all pretty much have the same body structure as that of a porcelain doll. When I first started watching this, it surprised me…

Without a doubt this is a series that is not for all taste. I'll make it known right now. If your anime must be of the same breed as Ninja Scroll, Godannar, Burst Angel, or even Ghost in the Shell. Then there is nothing here for you because Rozen Maiden is not a very dark or heavily action driven show in the first place. I will say it more than resembles and blends Angelic Layer and Azumanga Daioh. This is due to its style concerning cute characters, fighting dolls, some drama, and over the top comedy. There are action scenes present but this is clearly not the selling point. At its core, Rozen Maiden is mainly character driven. Several more dolls soon appear with each having their own distinct personality. There are plenty of characters with each of them given a good amount of time to de…

Jun Sakurada is a teenage boy who has left school and refuses to leave the house. He’s doted on hand and foot by his older sister, Nori, who he lives with. you know, because this is an anime, and teenage protagonists living with their parents would just be heresy. He occupies his time by ordering a bunch of junk online, using it briefly, and then returning it just in time to exploit Japan’s infamous ‘cooling off period” law. One day, he receives an offer that asks him one simple question: “Will you wind it, or won’t you?” He clicks yes out of bored curiosity, and not long after, a suitcase appears on his floor, containing a beautiful blonde ball-joint doll in a red southern belle dress. He winds this doll, as per his promise, and is shocked when it actually wakes up and starts talking to…

Exciting, Heartbreaking, Heartwarming, Adorable, Dolls..? Fun. A simple anime series, yet quite satisfying all around. Rozen maiden dolls, simply put, a group of dolls that are wound by hand by use of a special key. At first I was afraid watching this anime. I thought it's some childish doll kind of story. Well, it turns out..not! Shinju, Kanaria, Ichigo, and the other six Rozen-Maiden dolls was made by Rozen. He was a maestro in doll-craft. All the dolls love him, but they have to fight one another to become "Alice"-a symbol of a perfect woman that Rozen always dreamt of. Through each seasons they (and us) will learn the importance of significant others, bonds between sisters, how great a daughter could long to see her father, what is the real beauty, and the most important is...how to…

Rozen Maiden is a gem lost in a world full of more known titles and will be if not yet a classic. While some of taken jabs at this series for not following the source material and being supposed lolibait, I for one must tell everyone that Rozen Maiden is NOT lolibait and sometimes seperating yourself from source material can work. True, it can be extremely risky and may very well end in complete failure as multiple mediums have proved that very thing, but what if the material is both good and really entertaining? Ladies and folks, you get Rozen Maiden. When I first started Rozen Maiden a few years back I in all honesty was not sure if it was my thing because up until late 2012 I was a heavy action and DBZ fan, but any doubt ended when got a few episodes in. Firstly, the story in itself is…

ROZEN MAIDEN: An interesting concept ruined by poor story direction Battle to the death is actually an overused concept -- we have Battle Royale, Hunger Games, Fate/Zero, you name it. But a clichéd concept can be interesting by adding a new flavour into it. In the case of Rozen Maiden, the new flavour is the fact that the participants of the battle are dolls. This is an interesting twist because dolls can easily be associated to symbolism. Rozen Maiden imposes philosophical insights on what it means to be a ‘puppet’, what it means to be ‘perfect’, and other concepts that could be linked to the symbolic doll. But sadly, Rozen Maiden has problems with execution, wasting its brimming potential. Like Fate/Zero, the Alice Game involves Master-Servant relationship, and whoever wins will recei…
