Falls off a cliff & never gets back up again once you reach the halfway point of the show. You do NOT need to watch this to be a "real" Fate fan. You don't have to prove anything to anyone.
I'm new to the Fate franchise. Because of how big the fandom is and how amazing the animation is for newer titles, I wanted to give this a chance and make Fate Stay Night be my first Fate anime experience.
I feel deep regret.
It was amazing in the first half, but my friend told me that the same thing happens in the other ("infinitely better"?) Fate titles because it's supposed to be like a multiverse.
BASICALLY, just like a date-sim game, you have the prologue / general route first, before your decisions steer you towards an alternate route with a unique ending.
So the one part of the show that was…

Fate/Stay Night manages to be compelling and interesting to watch. First off, it's basically a fantasy battle royale where there's magic and these mages summon fairy tale companions in order to outsmart and beat each other to death and be the last one alive. So obviously if that's not your kind of cookie then don't watch it. I don't remember anything particularly gory or disgusting in the first FSN TV series (this), but some of the later films I had to stop watching because it just got too nasty.
There are enough twists and plot-building to keep this one interesting. At the same time, some parts of the show are ridiculous and silly. Rin Tohsaka also brings her tsundere LOVE (translation: bitching and whining) to interactions with the main character. It manages to be somewhat humorous desp…

5 sentence review:
Enjoyable main heroine.
Artstyle is closer to the VN than future adaptations (which I love).
Only adaptation which has Shirou's inner monologues (although they are obviously heavily altered)
Has a good albeit sad ending.
The best anime starting point for Fate (yes, even if it has a medium amount of spoilers for the other routes).
Saber was my favourite. Random thoughts:
Best starting point if we ignore the visual novel. Highly underrated due to the fact the Ufotable adaptations have better animations. Glad I started here cuz I went release order rather than looking at some stupid watched order. Please tell people to watch this first, Fate route is the first route you play in the VN remastered version and everything.

Fate/Stay Night (2006) review
"I finally understand. You were my sheath, Shirou…"
The protagonist Emiya Shirou, whose ideal becoming "Champion of Justice" following his father's footsteps becomes engrossed on his first encounter with Saber. Fate/Stay Night Saber's route was portrayed with clarity. Approaching this as a returning fan, DEEN's Fate/Stay Night was a pinnacle adaptation of its era. Compared to its modern successors, Ufotable's Fate/Stay Night-UBW, Heaven's Feel and Fate/Zero, this predecessor feels simpler yet charming. Many fans look back at this adaptation with mixed feelings, but for me, this version has a raw charm that I hadn’t expected.
Story-wise
This show covers a single route of the original visual novel. The pacing was solid, feeling mostly complete, though slight…

This is not bad, but it still pisses me off that Anime Only's will never get the true experience of the Fate/Saber route. It does a better job with the tender and funny moments than the Ufotable stuff does, but the action parts have moments that are so embarrassing that it's no wonder people say not to watch this adaptation. If you've already had the original experience of the visual novel, those parts will just make you laugh, but I imagine with no original context you'll just think "This is the masterpiece everyone talks about?? What are these motherfuckers smoking???".
Regardless, if you HAVE read the Fate route in it's original form, then this will still be a treat for you. After all, Saber shines the most in the slice of life and romantic moments the most, despite how badass she is…

A decent battle royale but every single time it switched antagonists, it got worse and worse.
I have not read the VN nor have I seen the Ufotable adaptations, so I have no real concept of the accuracy of this to the Fate route, nor how much they cut. I've heard it cribbed from both UBW and HF and for what it's worth, especially for Heaven's Feel, you can kinda tell.
I thought the art did a satisfactory job of what it needed to depict. It was not super Hype and Aura but it worked. The first OP is a stone cold bop although the second one is kinda generic anime slop. The ED stays the same throughout the whole show so I kinda wish they did the same thing with the OP.
How are the characters?
I go back and forth on Shirou. I generally enjoy him but sometimes, he really rubs me the wrong way.…

Average as an anime, shit as an adaptation. If you wanna experience the Fate Series just go play Grand Order or read the Visual Novel, this latter option being a 10/10.
I dont think that watching this, you will sense even a 20% of what Stay Night's Fate Route truly is.
Besides, Gilgamesh ind this adaptation is trash and the use of Kirei in the animation and story is just trash, i dont either recommend watching this if you want a philosophy anime or an fighting anime, you will be dissappointed.
The visual novel engages themes like philosophy and psicology hardly, so if you like those themes, go ahead.

Okay so Fate/Stay night has been reviewed more times then I like to count so I’ll just say it right off the bat this anime isn’t the best.
The characters, SPECIALLY Shirou are underwhelming and have the most cliche trope for a shonen mc (For an example he’ll jump into a fight or something without a plan trying to play hero, gets beat then gets a way to defeat his opponent like a episode or 2 later) overall, just a not well written character. The anime also has a bit of plot holes and a few complicated moments which aren’t elaborated on or explained better.
On the bright side, The animation is good for 2006 and I do like the characters designs like saber’s. Definitely unique for its time. the concept of fate is pretty cool. A free for for all with magic and allat. There’s not much to say…

I took the chronological order to watch and saw it right after fate zero. I liked some things like the final episode and the romance of the protagonists but keep in mind that it is a much inferior anime compared to the other routes, where in addition to the animation being rotten, a lot of rules seem to be invented and they are rules that break the logical sense of those that had already been established. I kept thinking while watching the route after this "Umlimeted Blade works" that this had served for me to already have a certain connection with the character, but the truth is that in this route Emya Shirou is very naïve and unbearable most of the time, in the others he is much more coherent as a character. For the script to work, Saber is ultra nerfed and looks more like a filler the a…

The 2006 adaptation of Fate/Stay Night, directed by Yuji Yamaguchi and produced by Studio Deen, can be considered an acceptable entry for those unfamiliar with the original visual novel, although it falls short of capturing the full depth and mysticism that the game offers. The series follows the Fate route, the most accessible and straightforward of the three in terms of plot, but this choice also means that character development and more complex themes are somewhat diluted.
One of the recurring problems with this adaptation is the inconsistency of the animation. At key moments in the battles, the animation shines in capturing the intensity and magic of combat between Servants; however, these peaks of visual quality are inconsistent and are surrounded by sequences that are simpler and of…

This TV series is an attempt at adapting the [Fate] route from the visual novel Fate/Stay Night, the beginning of the Fate franchise as a whole. Overall, this project does a good job adapting elements from this route when it chooses to do so. Unfortunately, it does not always stay true to the plot of [Fate], occasionally bringing in storylines from the [Unlimited Blade Works] route and introducing new scenes detrimental to the experience.
It is hard to recommend this as someone's first experience with the Fate franchise, not because of the dated 2006-era production, but because of the flaws in the presentation of this story, and the spoilers present for the following [Unlimited Blade Works] and [Heaven's Feel] routes.
Episode 6 replaces the story with alternate events from [Unlimited Bla…

I really enjoyed it; great storytelling. People definitely die if they're killed.
**Cons:**
- The ending was so lackluster and boring.
- The CGI dragon... I mean, COME ON???
I watched this first, then watched the ufotable version.
For the year it was released (2006), the art style was surprisingly good. It definitely looked unique (apart from the crappy dragon). 6/10
If you want to see where the Fate anime started, give this a go. There's also a Deen movie that I really enjoyed. There are a few major differences between the Deen UBW movie and the ufotable UBW series (Berserker is a prime example). Obviously, the series is longer and of better quality.
The character of Rider is pretty sh*t, tbh.
Not in the ufotable Heaven's Feel movie 3, though (watch that 100%).
Watch it if you like…

Shirou Emiya. Never in my life have I hated the protagonist of a story more than this. Never before have I felt so much secondhand cringe from one character, not even while watching RE:Zero. If you ever wondered what happens when you take the ever so honorable women protecting protagonist of a flat isekai anime, take away all his powers, and give him a woman sidekick who's many times stronger than he is, you've got Shirou. This boy caused me physical pain every episode, and every episode I would keep watching, hoping beyond hope that the next one would be better, there's so many good fate series so this one has to get better soon right?
It doesn't.
I give this show a 2 instead of a 1 because there are some pretty good fight scenes near the end, but other than that my only memories of t…

Fate/stay night is interesting one. In my opinion some people are truly overrating it just because they've seen different seasons before this but let's dive into it.
First I'll bring some positives. I really liked that typical oldschool vibe of 2006 anime. It's refreshing and such calm feeling. Most of the characters have nice dialogues and scripts. Music is very enjoyable. And in the end, Saber is a really cool character I personally can't wait to meet again in Fate/Zero.
On the other hand, the script for Shirou's dialogues is bad as hell. That character has almost no character development during entire anime and I have to admit, it can be a bit annoying after a while. Some episodes, especially before some bigger breakouts, are really slow and it's not enjoyable at all, because anime is…

The anime is boring, it makes you sleepy. Episode 14 almost made me drop. Archer could defeat Berserk simply by killing his mage. The protagonist gets potential out of nowhere after listening to the archer's motivational message, even though he doesn't show consistent progress with his training. At a super convenient time, he achieves his first success after very few attempts to produce a sword identical to the legendary Excalibur, and manages to tear apart Berserk's several remaining lives with a single blow. Ridiculous.
There are some situations in which the protagonist could have left the chalice fight, but his enemies decided to be good and extend it to a next encounter, to have a story.
Even though in the previous episode Sōichirō Kuzuki managed to go head to head with Saber + Shiro…

It's nice that the characters in the anime have a separate personality from each other, the later anime and films already explain the characters in more detail, but my love is SABER! SABER is a perfect character in every aspect!
I don't think a better waifu will come to the anime world, saber is an excellent character in every aspect, I personally would like more episodes about saber.
If you extend it by making 2 or 3 seasons and renewing the graphics of the bidet, I will give 10 stars. As someone who watched the whole series, I miss watching good episodes with Saber. Pls

This show is both really bad and pretty good.
If you're used to modern shows and you haven't yet fallen down the rabbit hole that is Fate, I don't think there's much of a chance you'll enjoy this show. The animation is (again, through a modern lens) rather mediocre. It's not a complete trainwreck, but it is notably dated. Other than that, the pacing feels odd, and the story overall progresses rather slow. I get that it's the point sometimes, but this show had significantly more slideshows and repetition than was necessary to carry the point across. And while that's true of some parts, some others are left virtually unexplained and unexplored. Shirou's development is at times painfully slow, and at times it just skips forward with no explanation. Illya's character is also left criminally…

So, I just revisited the original anime adaptation of Fate/Stay night by studio DEEN, and let me tell you, it's quite the ride. I personally gave it a 6/10, and honestly, I don't think it deserves all the flak it gets. Let me break it down for you.
First things first, let's talk about the animation. Sure, compared to some of the slicker adaptations that came later, it might not be mind-blowing, but for its time, it's pretty darn impressive. Remember, we're talking about a show that came out a while ago. So, cut it some slack, people! While it might not reach the visual heights of some newer versions, it's still solid, and that should count for something.
Now, here's the deal: don't let anyone fool you into thinking you should just skip this adaptation. It might not be the grandest interp…

I'll be writing my first review to warn you, dear viewer, to not do the same mistake I did. I watched this before any other Fate adaptation and the short of it is - it's not bad. The problem is that the story of the 2006 adaptation will spoil 3 other adaptations of Fate for you, solely because they are sort of a "remake" of the events depicted here. I'm not going to watch anything after Fate Zero (which is a prequal to the 2006 adaptation) because I already know the key aspects of the story, who the characters are and so on and I'm not willing to invest more time watching another iteration of the same story. Had I not watched the 2006 adaptation, I would've continued watching the series after Fate Zero, despite it being a bit too cliché for my tastes.
That being said, I think it makes sen…

This is my review of FSN 2006, also known as (Fate Route 2006)
Story: Words cannot describe how great the story was, it actually got me intervened and loved it to the very end, it's mostly Saber's story btw.
Characters: overall, my favorite character here is Saber, she is easily the best character for me, she's cute and well made, best girl btw, Shirou, this is the best Shirou out of all the routes, he actually learns from his mistakes and improves, he even helps saber throughout the whole story. Gilgamesh here was an actual threat to the pair and this Gil acts the same as his Zero version, which makes sense for Saber's story, Rin, she's great, could be better, the others are great other than Goofy ah Shinji and Caster.
Animation: yes I know this is a pretty controversial topic, but I…
