Soul Eater NOT!

Soul Eater NOT!

Introduction

Soul Eater NOT! is a spin-off and side story that takes place one year prior to the events of the original Soul Eater. At the Death Weapon Meister Academy, humans born with the power to transform into weapons and those with the power to wield these weapons (Meisters) train to hone their natural talent. The characters of the main series are enrolled in the Especially Advantaged Talent class, where they train to become warriors of justice capable of defeating what threats prey on innocent lives—or even the entire world. Other students at the DWMA are less talented. Members of the Normally Overcome Target class focus less on being warriors of justice and more on controlling their powers so they don't hurt themselves or anyone around them. Tsugumi Harudori, a new halberd-transforming student, meets Meisters Meme Tatane and Anya Hepburn and quickly grows indecisive about which of the two new friends should be her partner. As they learn to use these powers and settle in, their lives as everyday students will be far from normal.

Yeah, I expected more. Soul Eater NOT! is one of those titles I started with relatively high expectations, precisely because it’s set in the same universe as Soul Eater. As a fan of the original work, I imagined it would be an interesting opportunity to revisit that world, meet new characters, and, who knows, expand on elements that were less explored in the main story. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be much simpler than I had anticipated. We don't directly follow the characters we already know from Soul Eater here. Some of them do appear throughout the story, and those were the moments I found most interesting, but they aren't the plot's focus. The story follows a new group of characters and presents a different perspective on the Soul Eater world, primarily through student…

Absolute nothingburger filler the show. I like the core idea in here. I like side-stories of a series where there's different members of the cast fucking around and doing stupid stuff, but.. Nah. I don't like this one. Have you ever wanted to watch a show with no actual demographic, with no actual end goal, that is just twelve episodes of "Yeah dude, Ookubo made this because he wanted to make more slice of life stuff with the Soul Eater cast, but I just don't exactly understand why this show even exists to begin with. Look, Soul Eater /is/ a shonen. So, you'd expect there to be shonen stuff going on, right? Nah. It's Yuri. I know that I made multiple reviews pointing obvious criticisms towards the genre, but that's not even the issue in here. I like the characters and their dynamic, but…

Soul Eater Not! is a spinoff to the original Soul Eater anime, that acts as a prequel. Going into it, you should know that this is very distant to the original series, and it does its own thing. This is fine if the series is good, so is it? Not really, to be honest everything that made Soul Eater unique was absent from this one. And obviously I understand this series is supposed to be its own thing, but I found it to be very bland and boring overall. Starting with the plot, taking place one year before Soul Eater, we follow Tsugumi as she wants to learn how to become a weapon. We are also introduced to Meme and Anya, who are essentially competing to be Tsugumi’s weapon meister. For the most part, it is very much slice of life, and I enjoy slice of life anime, but these episodes were just…

I like to pretend that I hallucinated this anime because of how awful it is. If you came to watch it looking for more Soul Eater, please, for your own good, don't watch it. It's simply bad. Feels like a bad written fanfiction that the writer barely watched the original anime before writing it, adding non sense stuff and losing all the feeling that Soul Eater originally have. The only reason this anime is not getting a 1 star is because I liked seeing the characters from Soul Eater making cameos. But again, feels like a bad written fanfiction all the time.

Soul Eater NOT! is definitely not a continuation of the original series that many would want or expect - this prequel is more of a light-hearted friendly drama, which does not forget the core of its world and thus also offers a plot with a witch. The story is fresh with fun characters, episodic jokes and a nice background plot that slowly escalates. The setting in the original storyline is commendable - I must especially praise the decent and natural way of incorporating characters from the main series. I am very satisfied with the series and the path it is taking and I enjoyed watching it.

Soul Eater NOT! lives to its name. It's not Soul Eater. It is not like the original Soul Eater show from 2008. This is a very disappointing show if you watched the original show. If you haven't watched it. Please watch the original. It is so much better than this one. The music is good. I honestly watched this a few years ago and hardly remember it, but Soul Eater I've also only watched years ago, and Soul Eater is at least someone I remember a lot of and know that I really loved it. Please watch the original Soul Eater.

Soul Eater NOT! was clearly made for a different audience than its predecessor Soul Eater. If you're looking for more of the OG Soul Eater, this anime will be a disappointment. However, if you don't care, and like slice of life, fanservice, and moe, you'll probably have a good time watching Soul Eater NOT! For me though, this was a snooze-fest as I really enjoyed the original Soul Eater and was hoping this would, at the very least, have the same charm as the first. Furthermore, you could watch this without having seen Soul Eater and understand it just fine, but if you choose to do that don't let this spin-off deter you from checking out the real thing.

It's literally a slice of life in the Soul Eater universe. So, if you like Slice of Life and Soul Eater you probably will also enjoy this anime. (i don't see why not) Actually i wish there were more animes "like that", slice of life in some specific universes... :P And... As the title says Soul Eater NOT! it's NOT Soul Eater or kinda like Soul Eater at all, but it's pretty decent for a slice of life. But of course, it would be better if the title was something like "MORE Soul Eater!" and it was more of Soul Eater, damn, i really miss that anime and i wish they made more. Btw, if not yet, try out Enen no Shouboutai (Fire Force) it's set hundred of years before Soul Eater and it's pretty pretty good.

I'm honestly shocked this show has such a low rating. I finished this show for the first time right after binge watching the original Soul Eater for the first time in probably a decade. Yes, it's not a sequel, it's a prequel to Soul Eater. And yes, the main characters in this show are different - But I found them likeable nonetheless. However, Soul Eater Not! does have most of the original cast in it, playing as reoccurring side characters (Think how Boruto handles the new main cast vs. The original cast, same idea.) It's awesome how we get to see more backstory to the world, the original main cast, and events that were mentioned in the original that we never got to see. Hell, the pink haired girl had like one scene in the original show, but is a main character here. I feel it all blends r…

FULL DISCLAIMER : I definitely understand why some people don't like this show. But hear me out y'all. When compared to the original series of Soul Eater, Soul Eater NOT lacks. However I do enjoy it overall because it goes into more depth of DWMA and the side characters from the original show like Ox, Kim, Jacquline, etc. It explains how the schools runs and the different classes. Also, there is good character development with the side characters that deserve a lot more attention. It's a nice basis for the world of Soul Eater. Obviously this isn't a serious show. I am sure that it was meant as a more light heart, cute spin off. I think if you like Soul Eater that this is still worth it to watch. However watch the original show first.

Soul Eater got a spinoff in the form of a cute girl anime. Hellz yeah! The only thing this show suffers from is that it hit the wrong audience: being a spinoff from a classic shonen anime, it stands to reason that the majority of people to see this show would be fans of the original Soul Eater. But the thing is, fans of shonen action anime are NOT this show's intended audience. (see what I did there?) Though set in the Soul Eater verse, this show dials back a lot of the silliness that made the original so endearing; none of Black Star's signature cockiness, or naked catgirl witches, and only a couple little moments of Death the Kid obsessing over symmetry. This show also redid the designs of the EAT class characters we all know and love e.g. Soul looks less "bad-boy" and more "grim edgel…

Soul Eater NOT is NOT good and it is NOT a good spin-off to Soul Eater. This is one of those things where you watch it for hints of already established characters but you end up watching a sorta yuri anime. Now myanimelist.net says I need to write a longer review but there isn't much else to say unless I waste more time than I already have dissecting this non-expanding Facade. ... I just read some reviews with the plan to counteract them but I ended up noticing the same arguments I made being used (also I wasn't standing out with my jab at the NOT title)

It has been a while since I've watched this show, but the fact that it's one of the few anime I've ever rated a 1/10 I figured I'd give it a review. Soul Eater NOT, A.K.A. Identity Crisis the Animation: This show was a major disappointment. Far more of a disappointment than anything I have ever watched, and I have no problem with shoujo-ai slice of life anime. In fact its one of my favorite genres. My problem isn't that this isn't a "proper" sequel to soul eater, my problem is that it was very poorly executed. They couldn't decide whether they wanted it to be a battle shounen like soul eater or a slice of life and that's where they failed. It was a gross mix of the two. If they had committed to one or the other I think they could've pulled it off, because as is apparent it was far too d…

So, I really enjoyed Soul Eater and I don't mind slice of life. However, this story has a bit of an identity crisis. It starts out as slice of life and ends up trying to be dramatic in the last fourish episodes. It causes the ending of the story to feel rushed. The battles aren't satisfying and end too quickly, especially since the students are NOT students. There were parts that were just....not making sense. The fact that the NOT students, ones who were just joining the academy are able to resonante together so quickly. The girl who is the weapon in the story couldn't control her ability to turning into a weapon could suddenly turn into a flying weapon when it was needed at the end of the show. This was a tad frustrating as not even Maka and Soul could do that right away and learned it…

I don’t know why this anime is rated so low on here, but then again I have no watched the original Soul Eater anime. I heard this was a fun anime so I tried it out, and it satisfied me. With 12 episodes, there isn’t much space for the show to be boring since it does get pretty far down a good plot. It’s a slice of life, but nice. (spoiler free) Story - 8 I actually really enjoyed the story. From the first episode when the two girls were sort of fighting over partnering up with the other girl, it’s been entertaining. I never got bored with this anime, there was always some new dilemma or event going on. A story of friendship between three girls, with a little boy drama added in, makes for a fun watch. Art - 7 The art is a nice style. Nothing too special, but I like the scheme. Sound…

Why in the hell are two girls using the same same Miester?? The plot is weird as I said before two person using the same Miester is weird. The art is fine I guess, at least it didn't use a lot of CG. The sound was average, like what you would expect from an everyday anime. I wouldn't say the characters are shit, but its just mediocre. The main reason I gave it a 1 because it is just a girls doing cute things anime, not what you would expect from the godly shonen anime Soul Eater. It would've scored a bit higher if it didn't use "Soul Eater" in its title.

if you saw Soul Eater and want something exactly like it, then this is not for you BUT if you are looking for a slice of life the you should go watch kobayashi-san instead. Soul Eater NOT! its a spin-off from the original Soul Eater anime, it takes place some time (perhaps months) before the soul eater events. In the beginnign i thought it would be a good way to expand the world but i was wrong. I went knowing this was not going to be like soul eater, the tags and poster make it really clear and i was hopiong to see a slice of life but in a world i already know how it works, but the problem with this anime is, well, everything. The story about the 3 girls is interesting for 2 episodes, they try to have main villian so they can end up things but the villian is just a lame "copy" of the o…

In short, for me, this is like if someone had a fever dream of the original Soul Eater anime and decided to write a fan fiction of it on Wattpad. Don't know why but it just gives me that feeling. It can appeal to a newer audience but I personally don't like it like how I love the original Soul Eater anime. Reasons as to why is because the rugged art style of the original art style isn't present in the Soul Eater NOT anime. Yeah it's cutesy but it doesn't give me the same raw feeling that the original one gives me. Yes I have re watched the anime two times in order to see if I have a different opinion to it as I did before. I watched the anime when I was younger and then watched it again when I was older, like 17 or something. I don't really remember my age. But that aside. my opinion was t…

Im writing this purely to explain my extremely high ranking. This anime is some of the funniest shit ever. Maybe its because I binged it in one night with my best friend, but Soul Eater NOT is an enigma. The stereotypical characters, rapid tonal shifts, and off the wall dialogue makes you feel like your dreaming. This has almost 0 to do with the original Soul Eater, instead it is simply a high school girl drama placed into this universe. Overall, 10s across the board. If you enjoy ironic, cringe humor, PLEASE watch this, preferable under the influence with friends. It will NOT disappoint!

After watching the first Soul Eater series and reading some of the manga from the original series, I was very excited to learn of a spin off from the old series that included some of the original characters. I went in with an open mind, trying my best not to compare it to the original series... well, even as a stand alone series, this is absolutely pathetic. It started off fairly decent, but as the series went on, it turned to be absolute garbage filled with the fetishization of young teenage girls. This series could only truly be enjoyed by single men who live in their parents basement.... The only saving grace in this show is the somewhat attractive visuals and animation as well as the soundtrack.
