Who Made Me a Princess is a pretty good watch, especially if you like fantasy stories that spend plenty of time on their characters and relationships. The art style was one of my favorite things about it, but Athanasia’s situation gives it more to work with than just nice dresses and a fancy palace. I haven’t read the manhwa, so I’m judging this entirely as someone who watched the adaptation.
Story:
Athanasia knows that her future could end with her own father having her killed, so her plan is to stay out of his way until she can escape. Unfortunately, avoiding someone becomes a bit harder when you run into them years ahead of schedule. From there, she has to figure out how to deal with Claude while trying to prevent the future she knows about. Most kids worry about disappointing their p…

Hmm. This was one that I picked up and put down a lot, and I think that means I only thought it was okay.
For context, I am an anime-only watcher (with very little familiarity with the source material), but this show was being really heavily promoted in my circles when it was first airing, so I added it to my watch list.
Having watch it in full, I am not sure if there was anything that I particularly disliked (save for the main ship—I really wasn’t feeling that), but this also didn’t really scratch the itch that this genre (historical-esque/magical/villainess/time travel) usually does. That said, I did really like all of the scenes with Ijekiel (woe is second-lead syndrome).
Also, I don’t know if I just wasn’t really paying attention before, but did the CGI in the final episode feel…

I love it. I love it so much, especially as a manhwa reader. Without a doubt, this is the best manhwa anime adaptation I've seen.
I've watched every anime adaptation of an otome isekai manhwa. The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up in the Slideshow Presentation, Doctor Elise, blah blah blah. And let me tell you, none of these compares to the Who Made Me a Princess anime. You can really tell that this anime, or to be more specific, donghua, was made with care.
I read the original manhwa years ago. It was what got me into manhwa and the otome isekai genre, so when I saw an anime announced, I was really excited. And yet, every anime adaptation I'd seen of a manhwa had been terrible, so I didn't want to have high hopes. Weeelllll, this was one of the anime where I could have high hopes! Because wh…

Overall 9/10 ga…

TLDR review:
As someone who read the Manhwa the anime makes a lot of changes that confused me while watching, which sucks because I was excited for this anime. It feels like they wanted to go in a completely different direction from the original genre at times. She suddenly becomes a magical girl when she never was one? It feels like they definitely wanted to flex some of the animation by adding random scenes like that, because the animation is actually beautiful. I'll probably be watching the next season as well to finish what I started and because I liked the manhwa so much. That being said if you ignore the source material it's a *fine* fantasy reincarnation Shoujo that I'm sure others will enjoy it, it's not that it's bad but it's disappointing how it changed from the source material.…

I have to start this review by saying I nearly passed over this series- when learnt that this was a Chinese production, so technically not anime. I’m glad I watched the first episode. Also, I read that this was based on a Korean web novel (so a very interesting journey)
The Fated Magical Princess Who Made Me a Princess is the kind of story that thrives on emotional tension, reincarnation tropes, and the uneasy balance between fate and personal agency—and it executes those elements with surprising elegance.
At its core, the story follows a familiar setup: a protagonist reborn into a dangerous royal world, armed with foreknowledge and a desperate need to survive. What sets it apart, though, is how it leans into the psychological stakes rather than just the external ones. The looming threat…

As someone who did NOT read the source material, this show was honestly amazing. Didn’t expect this to be as good as it was, but a few episodes in it had really grown on me, and halfway through the season I was hooked! It pulled me in and kept me interested.
Princess athanasia’s character feels very human in her desire for family and to not be alone. Watching her grow up through the season was a treat! I like that she isn’t overly extending herself to be hyper virtuous (like with Jennette), just that she pretty much just wants to be with her dad. The character flaws aren’t over the top, and it felt a little more real than the typical female lead anime.
The way the story has unfolded so far, it’s refreshing to find myself curious about what’s going to happen next, rather than having my ass…

I will say this here because I doubt Japan will ever read it, but I just don't buy an anime where a young girl is portrayed as cute and smart and lovable and then is neglected. I just don't believe it. That's not to say that girls are not neglected in Japan, but I think it's more the fault of the medium. Like, anime would never neglect a cute young girl even if an individual Japanese person would. Whereas, I totally found it entirely credible when reading the original Korean manhwa (twice). So, I ended up switching the audio track to Chinese (which I believe is the original anyways) and it worked much better.
It's different from the original which is whatever, in my opinion. The father's storyline is darker and his progression more believable in the manhwa but the differences are each app…

I do not recommend this show for anyone who had read the original books. The studio who made this has gone so far from the source material its an insult to the original text. The characters in this anime are flat hollow shells of the characters from the manwha and important story telling points what were crucial to their development were cut or changed. While the animation is gorgeous and the music is beautiful those are the only good points I can give this show. If you watch this without reading the manwha it probably holds up well but as someone who read the manwha first I'm very disappointed in this show.

I have not read the manhwa, though I am aware that several elements from the original source were omitted (such as deeper explanations regarding Lucas and Athanasia’s unconventional dynamic, Athanasia’s motivations, and certain key revelations about her character). Because I approached the adaptation without prior attachment to the source material, I was able to enjoy it on its own merits. From what I have seen online, this seems to be a point of contention for readers of the manhwa. That being said, my enjoyment was strong enough that it has genuinely motivated me to begin reading the manhwa as soon as possible.
I appreciated the story overall, particularly Claude’s gradual emotional growth and his slow opening toward Athanasia. Seeing Athanasia mature, form friendships, and come into he…

Words cannot express how happy I am about it. When the trailer for this anime popped up last year, I was beyond happy. Who made me a princess was a manga that I had the opportunity to translate and it was also the first of the manga that won my heart and became my favorite. I am still excited about it to this day. I also really like that even though it is done like donghua, the anime is dubbed in Japanese (thank God for those gifts) and it is a masterpiece! I was expecting more episodes than 16, but hopefully we will see a sequel soon. Anyway, in terms of similarity, it is very similar, but not the same. Up until about episode 5-6, it is more or less completely identical and then the anime has its own parts and plots that do not appear in the manga (I recommend reading the manga anyway). S…

if you liked the original manhwa: you will probably not like this in the same way. several plot points have been shifted around, to the point i think it genuinely has altered the story, and there’s a bunch of added content that feels borderline.. bad? corny? there were several points where i felt second hand embarrassment watching this anime. even though the animation is gorgeous, as an avid lover of the original story, it felt like all my most precious memories of the original story were being actively trampled on.. it’s not a bad anime, just a bit nonsensical and sometimes over the top, with the plot left open-ended on the final episode (possible 2nd season?) but i would say to tread carefully if you’re the kind of person who’s protective about your favorite stories and you read the orig…

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess: Athanasia has the ability to control time. In this regard, she has the power to rewrite her destiny. The animation and artwork are top-notch. They've done a great job conveying the drama and palace intrigue.
The anime has some truly despicable characters. The Baron is a complete jerk—you just want to strangle him. They're digging the princess's grave.

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess: Athanasia karakteri zaman kontrol yeteneğine sahip. Bu doğrultuda kaderini baştan yazma yetisine sahip. Animasyonlar olsun çizimleri kalitesini konuşturuyor. Drama ve saray entrikalarınıda gayet güzel aktarmışlar.
Anime Kötü karakterlere sahip. Baron karakteri tam bir piç, onu boğmak istiyorsunuz. Prensesin kuyusunu kazıyorlar.

“The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess” left a warm and mature impression — it’s an adaptation that not only respects the original material, but also brings new life and depth to it. What I especially appreciated is that the anime moves away from the typical isekai tropes and instead focuses on character-driven storytelling. The story feels more subtle, emotional, and thoughtfully paced, making it far more engaging than the manhwa version.
One of the greatest strengths of this adaptation is the dynamic between the father and the daughter. The small but meaningful changes to his character make him feel more human and layered, adding warmth as well as inner conflict. Their relationship develops naturally, and the emotional moments feel sincere rather than theatrical, giving the…

This was such a great Asian anime - Korean story, Chinese animation and Japanese voices. It has quality to it from first to the last episode and it is a great watch. Splendid surprise and a prime example that there are show this season beside OPM season 3 worthy of watch.
Animation and music: amazing. The animation is breathtaking. Done by Chinese studio they really didn't save on it. The artstyle is great, there is movement all around the screen and animation during the important story bits is epic. Best looking show this season without any doubt. Music is sadly average, no notable soundtrack. But it gets job done.
Overall: music is good and animation is amazing, it is a gem for both eyes and ears.
Characters: MC is called Athanasia and she is only princess of the imperial household of…

I am going to keep this review simple and spoiler-free here, in regards to what changes were done to the plot and such. It feels a bit wrong and off putting in those regards, much to my own chagrin, since it had looked like these 16 episodes might've been all we were going to get, given how some events seemed to be playing off.
I can say that they have at least only gotten about halfway through the story, even with the way they've rewritten things changing the major events quite heavily.
I have a potential rationale for what is going on, essentially likening this to a moment of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy level of shenanigans, where each telling of the story, per medium, was supposed to be different. By this notion, one could argue that in "winding back the clock again" to tell the…

I don't think I've ever seen an anime differ so much from the original source just like this one. It's not just missing some scenes, it's changing the entirety of how the scene happens. Adding in more scenes for anime-only content is fine to a point but the way they did it this anime was just... unnecessary. They skipped and changed so much stuff that it's quite disappointing. And how they ended it... wth. Do yourself a favour and read the manga/manhwa/wtv it's called. You'll enjoy it more.
The series can be enjoyed on its own if you've never read the original source.

I’m truly so glad TBHX got me into watching donghua earlier this year because otherwise I’d have missed out on the masterclass in fantasy storytelling and animation that is Who Made Me a Princess. I have seen a ton of reincarnated princesses, villainesses, noble women, the whole range of the otome spectrum, and none of them have hit quite like this show. I’ve always said that the best fantasy stories are those that actually transport you to another world and make you feel completely immersed in it. Think Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc. I’m not saying WMMAP is on that level of epic storytelling necessarily, but for 20 minutes every Sunday it helped me escaped the routine of my daily life and made me feel like I was apart of something greater. It’s a truly magical and beautiful expe…

Who Made Me A Princess — A trifactor of things that seemingly should not go together, but look at what it did as a form of representation.
Wherever you live on Earth, comic books can come in a variety of forms under different names and even features at that. The only difference is where they are created, and they even come in their various forms that made them look the way they do today. And it's in this case where, very rarely, multiple entities come together to create a work of art that feels somewhat the same, but it has a charm to it. In the case of novelist Plutus's Mofa Gongzhu de Xiao Fannao a.k.a. Who Made Me A Princess, though, this is the rare exception that sees 3 countries unified under a single vision: the adaptation of the South Korean Webtoon manhwa series, animated and pro…
