Depressed workaholic MC determined to let his bloodline die with him meets cute femboy. Decides to continue the bloodline.
Pretty fun watch overall.
The visuals are pretty, the openings a bop, the characters are likeable.
Nothing mind-blowing but if you found the premise interesting you'll probably enjoy it.
There is a pretty forced attempt to add an easily marketable mascot character, but it doesn't really take away much from the show in terms of enjoyment.
The MC does stick himself with needles a bunch, so if you're uncomfortable with needles maybe this ain't it chief. They don't go into too much detail about the MC's sister or her girlfriend, and honestly I'm not complaining. I'm glad they didn't try to reinforce the MC actions by constantly bombarding us with random snippets of a h…

Woke slop.
Do not watch if you hate having woke values shoved down your throat. Propaganda attempting to normalize men pretending to be women, a woman voice actress, and female characteristics with all the assets but telling you it's a man. The only point of writing this into the plot is to normalize this for children. And then pushing the notion of dating a whole bunch of women at once.
This entire show's sole purpose is to be a vehicle for pushing woke values; just like 95% of Hollywood shows, it has no plot to speak of. Do not watch if you do not like woke political priorities being force-fed to you, but if you're one of the wokies, I'm sure you will love it.

7.5/10
Marriagetoxin’s excellent premise struggles to find its footing. It promises a fun, over the top comedy of a budding relationship between an assassin and a marriage swindler yet distracts us with a plethora of subplots that don’t go anywhere. For better or worse the show takes all the positive tropes of an action series and jacks them up to an eleven: crazy fight scenes, elaborate monologues, power ups that defy logic, wacky comedy, cute girls, you name it; it’s there.
Despite the abundance of cliches creator Joumyaku still manages to create a fun world with a likeable characters. Hikaru Gero is flawed, adorkable protagonist and his overpowered abilities never feel like they outstay their welcome. Like many other long running series today, however, its pacing suffers with too many…

This was an anime which easily could have been an 8/10 and with polish could have been a 9/10 anime, but its blatant flaws pounded my assessment of it down to a 6/10. The parts it executes well are so well executed it hurts, and the parts it messes up scream at you as a result.
On the positive side, the comedy, setting, and animation are all top notch...at first. The animation stays pretty roaring throughout the show, and the fight scenes are exceedingly well-done, so if you're the kind of person who can watch an anime on animation quality alone, this could be good for you. The comedy is also pretty constantly good, and keeps catching you off guard all the way to the end, although it does start to wane a bit in the latter half. Finally, the setting is consistently silly and over the top,…

It has a decent premiere and that's about it. It just falls off with every episode after that until Arashiyama appears but there also it was her hamster and her skills which made it entertaining. The story was average and lackluster even though they had a femboy as a MC for which I was interested to see how they'd revolve the story around but nothing much happened there other than his various outfits which were the only highlight. The fights literally turn a blind eye to powerscaling just like Sakamoto Days did with the tunnel effect with absurd ass pull powers.

The first episode isn't what defines this excellent and unique anime but the latter plot which will stun you and have you glued to this shit. I was like at 80% progress into dropping this But my thousand years of anime watching ultra instinct art told me to give it a chance and just when I passed the 1st barrier then....BOOM..!
The genre is correct so do the plot synopsis. Lots of alike anime slops came with same plot shit without any baseline (not talking about sequels) and they keep coming. But even in this loophole, this shit just managed to give us a unique story that defeats other hundred trashes out there. Whether you looking for crazy action fighting, animation and story telling this one will literally deliver that to every single episode, no kidding. The character development is c…

Honestly, Marriagetoxin had all the makings of not being made for me. A shounen battle anime combined with what you could only describe as a harem main protagonist? I really didn't think the show could work for me. But despite that, it was probably my biggest surprise of the Spring season, because it took these elements and made them work in a way that I wouldn't have expected. Especially in the most important aspect for a show about dating which are the characters.
1. Story and main formula
But from the beginning. Marriagetoxin is a story about Hikaru Gero, a "master of poison" who was trained to be one of the nearly perfect assassins with superpowers that exist in the world. However, when his grandmother plans the future of their clan, she decides, since Gero isn't seemingly interest…

Marriagetoxin is a competent, yet surprisingly forgettable action series. It has all the bones and structure and interesting power sets needed to craft a solid shounen battle anime, but it never quite musters up any moments of engaging characterization or intriguing plot movements to really up its game past being a passable action plot. Perhaps part of this is a blisteringly fast pace of adaptation so as to give the season a strong concluding point to end on, but it often feels like we’re just moving from one plot event or mandatory back story to the next in rapid succession without giving those moments enough space to breathe and really let the audience soak them in. The few bits of uniqueness it does have also start feeling superfluous as the story continues forward, with Kinosaki’s cros…

This is one of those shows I really wanted to like. It came in with a strong hook- which oddly enough scared away a segment of the western audience but attracted me to it. What transpired thereafter wasn’t a full bait & switch but it sure felt like it. The implications of what was revealed in the first episode subsequently were put aside in favor of a battle shonen style setup that got more annoying as time went on and felt exceedingly juvenile.
The only recent anime that comes to mind for comparison would be The Elusive Samurai which was a hyper-violent historical fiction posing as a kid’s show. If you’ve seen that one, try to recall what all the bad guys (enemy samurai) were like in it. Most of them had ridiculous abilities obtained after training with some unusual method or by having a…

" Legit Queer Bait "
Marriagetoxin is a kind of anime whose premise sounds strong and interesting but execution is poor in terms of power dynamics and shifting personality of characters . Imma be honest , in terms of shonen content it's good but in parameter of other genres it's shit and don't forget author doing a queer baiting .
The prime thing which I hated is poor power dynamics , author failed to establish a good and genuine power system . The moment mc starts loosing he remembers some nonsense chit chat from past and counters enemies techniques . The forced pacifism is also bad here . The things which I enjoyed are fighting sequences , strong bgm , peak intro outro and world building . Hoping for a improved 2nd season.

Everything is great in this anime except for one thing : its predictability in its storyline.
The animation is good, art design is great, OP and ED are fire, MC is powerful, but not an absolute beast (although I wish he was maybe a bit stronger), the characters are great and well-written. This anime has a lot of good, but since the first episode we all know where this is going and we all know how this will end. For the record, I did not read the manga and I know nothing of it so these the following is just my theory based on other anime’s of watched and how Marriage Toxin presents itself in a whole.
This is a romance anime where our MC tries to find a girl to marry to continue his bloodline (because grandma says so). First problem: in this show we meet 3 or 4 different girls and never or…

Marriage Toxin
Marriage Toxin was a pretty fun watch. You can definitely tell BONES is behind it because the animation and art style have that familiar polish. The fights are great, the powers are surprisingly diverse, and the chemistry between Gero, the Poison Master, and Kinosaki, the marriage swindler, carries a lot of the show. The voice acting is also really solid. As for the music, I actually enjoyed the ending a lot more than the opening, which I found pretty forgettable.
My biggest issue is the story. The whole “finding a bride” premise feels less like a complete story and more like the beginning of one. By the time I finished it, I was left thinking, “That’s it?” I know season 2 has already been announced, which is great, but because of that I’d almost recommend waiting until it…

Marriagetoxin follows the adventures of Hikaru Gero, a modern hitman and the heir to the clan of Poison Masters. He and his sister are the only members of their generation, but the bloodline must continue; Gero is anxious and terrible with people, but his sister is gay, so he resolves to find a wife and get married so that she can stay with her girlfriend. He soon meets Kinosaki, a marriage swindler who ends up becoming his marriage counselor. Under her tutelage, he begins taking on underworld jobs in order to meet potential marriage candidates and build his confidence.
The show's basic premise is incredibly unique and charming, and the first episode does a great job of establishing the world and endearing you to the characters. Gero and Kinosaki have great chemistry, and I appreciate bot…

This show turned out to be sillier than I expected but it works out well.
A total badass as the future head of his family that probably has some form of autism and can't really talk to girls is trying to get married to keep his sister away from being forced to be the head of the family and throw away her relationship in the process.
This show kind of has it all. Comedy, action, harem, yelling out the name of special moves, and a never-ending cast of "branch family help". What more could you ask for? lol.
They go through a few big fights and garner the attention of a few girls as a potential partner but you don't really hear much about them after that other than the fact that they are potential suitors. I expect we can see some more interactions with some of them in the next season while…

It's always nice to have a harem anime that tries to evolve the formula.
Here we have one of the simplest anime in the world, but its formula always works. A harem of girls and fights with good animation. I think there's little more to say about the anime's premise, because it tries to be more fun than serious. We have a simple story where the characters are what stand out. Despite the fantastical premise, the characters feel very human.
Starting with Gero Hikaru, who is easily the best husbando of the season. Not only is he sculpted by angels themselves, but he's also a gentleman with the girls. He's a person who, despite working in the underworld, is in touch with his emotions. We can see this from how he decides to assume leadership of his family, only because his sister would be forc…

Firstly, this isn't *exactly* a masterpiece of an anime. But, it's a rather enjoyable and unique theme for a romance anime; it's a mix of a romcom and action genre featuring various unique powers and fighting styles between masters. With every character having their own lovable and funny quirks or character traits.
It's like how we used to watch Dragon Ball for the action and seeing Goku get stronger. Meanwhile, here we watch our main character, Hikaru Gero learn how to be a better person for himself by learning through helping people all around in his journey to find the partner of his dreams.
Story- simple to follow but with something to always look forward to. Pacing is just right, not too fast or too slow as it always introduces new characters and their techniques along with a diff…

Episode one starts of so fast and hard that the rest of the show can't possibly keep up it's pacing and slows down gradually the first couple episodes.
While the main character's position in his love life is amply explored and is the backbone of the show, other progressions of his personality are sometimes speedran next to that, occasionally giving a rushed feeling to the show. For instance Gero's "mercenary to hero arc" happens nearly instantly, good guy motivational speeches and everything.
I genuinely get a lot of joy out of seeing the time and effort behind Kinosaki's different outfits, she has like two an episode. Idk, makes me want to dress better.
Visually, the show has a certain wow factor that I really love, especially the intro and outro are amazing in this aspect.
While the a…

Marriagetoxin is an underrated gem that absolutely deserves more attention. The premise alone is enough to grab you, but it also delivers strong action and a charming romance set in the fascinating world of assassination families. Everything moves at a great pace, and the production quality never drops off. Gero is a fantastic protagonist, constantly switching between a fearsome, almost unstoppable force and a socially anxious mess, making his growth both funny and genuinely heartfelt. His chemistry with Kinosaki is equally compelling, built on strong mutual support that is a pleasure to watch develop. Season two cannot come soon enough!

I think Spring 2026 has forced me to come out of my comfort zone more than any other season of anime because 6 years ago, there’s no way I would’ve watched and loved a series with a crossdressing main love interest like this. Not out of homophobia, but just because I didn’t like to watch things I couldn’t personally self insert into or relate with and that was such a small-minded and narrow way of looking at the world. Ive been able to learn so many different sides of myself thanks to anime and marriagetoxin was the latest shock to my system. As they say, sometimes it takes a real man to become best girl and while Kinosaki Mei might be biologically male, he’s my best “girl” of the season for sure. What a fun roller coaster ride this was for 12 weeks. Action packed and featuring a surprisin…

First off, ignore all the rant and folly about the deuteragonist's gender identity, and whether this show is based on LGBT representation or the like. This show doesn't focus on any of that. It's simply an incredibly entertaining, action-adventure show, that just so happens to have a femboy as one of the leads. Oh, and the main character's sister is a lesbian...but only shows up in episode 1. If you can't go over that, go in peace. If you can, then welcome to a thrilling ride of nonstop entertainment and action.
The characters themselves are extremely entertaining to watch. The main lead's emotional growth is evident through each and every episode, and it helps that he's a badass fighter that can use his brains as well. I feel that in watching this show, you really can't help but want th…
