It was a surprise that I had this title on my "plan to watch". I thought I've already watched it. And the funny thing is: I did. I didn't remember any of the specifics, but some of it came back while watching. Have I watched the season, the live-action (at least I think there's one), the movie, all the above? No idea. I don't know the sauce, I don't care about the sauce. The review is for this format. And its gonna be a long one. Here I go. The high rating this anime gets if from people that are nostalgic eSports fans. Because you must be one. A body & soul one. It rides the waves of the hype that was back then (10 or more years ago?). While the anime (and maybe the source) keep trying to push the "being the best" as the main reason, the predominant factor for the hype was "you a gamer, h…

The King's avatar is a pretty good Chinese anime about gaming/esports. The story is about a game called glory which is an mmorpg with a big esports scene and one of its best players who recently 'retired' due to 'issues with management'. We follow the main character after his retirement as he starts working in a net cafe where does more playing than working. He makes a new character, starts playing on the new server, sets dungeon records, first clears bosses and things like that. It's a very reactive story about the guy just playing the game and large goals next to just playing the game start to appear only near the end of the season. It's a pretty fun story to watch and you get to see the people actually physically playing the game instead of just seeing the game world. The controls, t…

I watched the first season and i really liked it. it was full of alot of action and the animations were great. i started into the second season and they just seemingly got lazy with it. it was lak luster and zero feel any more i lost interest and felt like i was forcing myself to push thru it. would give it a full 10 for the first season but a 5 at most for the second season. It lost all its excitment in the second season. there was alot of avoided open battle scenes unlike the first season which was almsot non stop action scenes. so i advise watching season one and not trying to watch further youl only get disapointed.

has a lot of good action, but doesn't offer much else. nobody except the main character has much characterization at all and are mostly one-note background characters, which is also the role they fill in combat since for the majority of the show nobody but the MC does much on-screen fighting. there isn't really a story, mostly just a framework through which the conflict in the game can happen, and there really is only one conflict; MC was supposed to retire, but didn't, and now he's breaking a bunch of game records which is making the top guilds look bad. 95% of the fights that happens in the show are because of this. the animation during any scene where a fight isn't happening isn't great, lots of ugly CG people and static movements. you could ignore all of these issues if you were just…

This is a well animated, well voice acted, and enjoyable show, with two exceptions. 1. There are no good subtitles available. This seems to be a common problem with Chinese anime. They all have subtitles that seem to be done by mechanical translation and often amount to barely understandable gibberish. It's a lot like official Japanese subtitles from the 90s. This is the same problem Daily Life of the Immortal King (one of my favorite shows) has, and it's very unfortunate. 2. APM (I assume attacks per minute?). They make a huge deal about high APM explaining why Grim and Co. are better than everyone else, but that makes no sense in context. MMORPGs are not designed in such a way that action speed matters. At most, pounding 800 keys per minute like Grim does would just make his character s…

tldr: It's the BEST Chinese anime out there if you've never watch a Chinese anime before! If you're new to Chinese anime and want to try out some, this will be the best one you could've start off with. The directing in this make the story telling felt very natural not like fantasy anime, the dialogue is also easy to follow yet not boring so it will ease your ears in to the Chinese dub easily for the first time! - The one thing that is very phenomenal about this anime is that the DIRECTING is VERY WELL DONE! 5/5 - The animation is not bad at all, though not the best of the line, still better than an average action anime. 3/5 - The story is very refreshing and unique, it is very easy to follow yet very intuiting to continue. 4/5 - The OST and sound effects is also really well thought out and…

quick madclown review it's a 7.5 from me but i can't give it 0.5 it isn't as terrible as a 7... the reasons it doesn't make 8? :- something about it was just difficult for me to absorb. not the concept, but the story itself was a bit difficult to follow because i just had a really hard time keeping up with the characters and who is what. (and funnily enough, i KNOW i'm not alone, on of the reviews says that the lead used to play for one autumn leaf... but the name of the alliance was in fact excellent era.... and the ACCOUNT that the lead used, the username is one autumn leaf) i had to watch this in conjunction with some webpages which i will put here in case anyone else needs them:- https://the-kings-avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Characters (has most of the characters that you see in the…

Do you like an Overpowered MC? Probably too much, really. Do you want a story about a character going on a "journey" and collecting friends along the way? Sure, that's pretty standard. Do you want all the characters to be 1-dimensional to the point that its rather strange, like 1 is "the loud one" or "the even louder one" or just "a girl"? Wait, what. Do you want a story that is essentially "Man plays video game for fun, because he got fired from playing the game professionally"? Not if that's it, no. Then have I got the over-rated anime for you, now with 100% more psuedo-McDonalds product placement, and 20% less budget for different animations. The show is not Bad by any means, but if you aren't going to have a plot with any sort of complexity, then you need to put that effort into som…

Quanzhi Gaoshou, also known as The King's Avatar, is a Chinese anime that is a must-watch for any fan of the genre. The story follows Ye Xiu, a highly skilled player of the online game Glory, as he is forced to retire from his professional team and starts over from scratch. The show delves into the world of professional gaming and the cutthroat competition that exists within it. One of the standout elements of Quanzhi Gaoshou is the animation. The character designs are intricate and well-detailed, and the action scenes are smooth and dynamic. The world-building is also impressive, with the game Glory feeling fully realized and believable. The story is engaging and offers a mix of action, comedy and drama. Ye Xiu's journey of redemption and his determination to become the best player in t…

The story is, idk if it is even a story, awful but I admit it's a little unusual concept. No one has motivation except MC and it is not so clear too. There is not even a single reason to actually care about the story and watch next episode. Characters are superficial. The audience cant tell how the characters thinking because apparently they don't think at all. Animations are generally looking good and aesthetic. All fights are basically the same and boring af and it's a great loss for an anime that doesn't have a strong story. Quanzhi Gaoshou sucked in many ways but the worst part of it is definitely Chinese. It's unbearable and really terrible. A few times I just muted it. Overall its too boring to watch and only offers you a few aesthetic shots. Scrolling down on twitter for 12*20 minut…

I usually write reviews to justify my grievances and problems with an anime and this anime has many. First, let's discuss what this anime was for me, MC has 0 character growth, which is not unusual in OP MC genre (exactly as the name suggests), but the MC here is worse. Over the course of the 12 episodes the MC has shown only one of these two expressions - A sly smile or completely expressionless. In OP MC anime, the side characters are supposed to shine. No side characters here are memorable. For the first 6-7 episodes the dialogue of side characters can be summed up as - "Oh, how is he (the MC) doing that?", "He is not human", "Wow, so good, much APM!". This is not an exaggeration. This anime revolves around a game called Glory. Is it an MMORPG with fighting elements? Just a plain MMO…

As someone who grew up speaking Chinese, I seriously wanted King's Avatar to succeed as a positive representation of Chinese culture and language in animation. While King's Avatar proves that an excellent anime-style Chinese donghua is definitely within the realm of possiblility, it pains me to say that this donghua is a victim of the same infuriating tendencies of modern Chinese media. They are more focused on rushing to certain "cool" scenes instead of giving us a coherent experience. Story: 2 - Missed potential The plot goes something like this... Ye Xiu is basically the world's best pro-gamer in a game called Glory. The story starts when he is unrightfully removed from his pro team Excellent Era because he has no public image and is thus unprofitable. From there on out, he starts work…

>> Blurb: A wholesome power-fantasy for the long winter-evenings. Imagine you're in that zone where you wanna watch something that's exciting, new and unseen and at the same time you want a guarantee that you're gonna enjoy yourself cuz surviving 2020 is enough of a reason to never wanna feel shitty again. Welp, King's Avatar or Quanzhi Gaoshou has got you covered. Because it keeps to the fundamentals and it keeps to them very well. The core story of the show is predictable. You have your amiable, soft-spoken protagonist who gets booted out of his own e-sports team for being an idealist rather than someone who's hungry for commercial-gain. He begins his journey back to the top from scratch and along the way he makes new friends, gets in touch with a few old ones and in general is a p…

**spoiler free review** TKA is the first chinese anime i watched and it doesn't disappoint. This anime is really underrated and not many talk about it. I have never seen an anime with better or equal animation and it shows what a high budget anime is supposed to look like. The soundracks and sound effects are really good. The story however is not that interesting in comparison. Don't get me wrong. The plot is captivating and i never got bored, always excited for what will happen next, and it really made me nostalgic about watching gamming streams and teams on youtube at a younger age, but i feel like with all settings considered, the plot had such high potential. It grasps the real aspect of rpg anime and real life gaming professionals and i really like it. Overall, i think you should give…

This one was my first Chinese ONA that I have watched. So, I will give you honest opinion of mine. Positive points : 🏅 There are a lot of well executed action scenes in almost every episodes 🏅 Very good animation quality in comparison of other Chinese ONA (currently I am watching Soul Land too, So I can say easily that all Chinese almost like Soul Land. And Quanzhi Gaoshou is almost like most of anime) 🏅 Very wll executed CG. Other Chinese ONA looks like meh... Compared to Quanzhi Gaoshou Negative Points : ⛔ Real appealing story isn't there ⛔ Characters aren't that much connecting. Sometimes confusing. ⛔ Characters names are also quite confusing for me to understand Maybe I am selfish for last negative points. But here my final rating. Score : 7/10

It's a fairly low stakes show about a retired professional videogame player basically starting a new account and dicking on people which is fun since they obviously play into that aspect. Similar to how sword art online alternative: gun gale online or Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense it's simply about someone playing video games, which is super entertaining. The animation for background characters can be quite hilariously bad at times since they use some basic CG to animate them, at other times the animation looks almost great, but since it flip flops between them it's a bit jarring. The soundtrack has nothing noteable or noteworthy about it, it sounds mostly generic and I cannot recall any theme or track that has had an impression on me. The characters are…

This was a weird one for me. Right, so the story follows Ye Qui, the best player of a massively popular game called Glory. He is captain of one of the most successful teams in the game, but he is soon deposed and forced into retirement by jealous team mates. Having to start from scratch, he starts to gather a team with the aim to ascend be pinnacle of the game once more. So, this is a Chinese anime and it's the first I've watched. The language took some getting used to and I must say, I prefer Japanese. That said, how about the anime itself? Let's start with the characters. I wasn't very impressed with them to be honest and probably only one individual stood out (it wasn't the protagonist.) As for the protagonist, he reminded me of Sakamoto from Sakamoto desu ka, an OP character with litt…

Quanzhi Gaoshou “The first Chinese anime I watched. The first Chinese anime I dropped. The first Chinese anime I re-watched. The first Chinese anime I cried to. And The first Chinese anime that became the best RPG anime I've ever watched.“ Now I have a lot to say about this show but I shall condense it to make it easier to read. Quanzhi Gaoshou is possibly the best RPG-based anime ever made. Though it does not really go into the detail of skills & feats of players. The show excels in representing the competitive side of gaming, giving the appreciation and admiration it sincerely deserves. A retired professional gamer goes into the new server of a game and has fun. Though the OP MC trope may be considered as "overrated". I find Quanzhi Gaoshou very entertaining to watch. Why? Because th…

A lot of people talk about Quan Zhi Gao Shou(The Kings Avatar) but not many encapsulate what it's about truly. Simply put, this story is about a man who was a professional gamer and gave it all up for the sake of enjoying the game and helping others learn to enjoy the game whilst also truly "owning" what is theirs, I cannot emphasize this particular paragraph enough. The show is very deep and frankly it hit's home almost all to hard, an absolute masterpiece when it comes to capturing the true essence of the gaming scene and the people behind such endeavors. If you enjoy the isekai or the gaming genre then "The Kings Avatar" is right up your alley, this show will take you on an emotional thrill ride, a journey of sorts, on what it means to be a professional gamer at its heart, the MC tru…

I had heard of this anime from some comment under a different anime I was watching and decided to give it a try, and oh boy was I surprised. This is a Chinese anime which is most likely why it’s not very popular, but if you don’t mind that they speak Chinese instead of Japanese (I don’t really know why you would) then you should definitely give this a try. Story: 9/10 This is not SAO or anything like that, the MC is not transported into the game. He is just the famous top player at the certain game he plays in real life on a computer (read the description) and in the scenes in which he’s playing the game it turns into the POV of his character which can be compared to SAO. I don’t think I’ve seen another show with this kind of story, it seems pretty unique to me and considering it’s Chine…
