Poco’s Udon World is one of those rare anime that doesn’t try to overwhelm you with action or dramatic twists, but instead gently sits beside you and slowly heals something you didn’t even realize was hurting.
At its core, this is a story about family, loneliness, growing up, and learning to let go — wrapped in the warm, comforting atmosphere of a small udon shop in rural Japan. The pacing is calm, almost slow at times, but that’s exactly what makes it feel so real and intimate. It’s not a story that rushes to impress you; it’s a story that asks you to breathe with it.
The characters feel incredibly human. Souta’s emotional journey is subtle but powerful, and Poco is absolutely the heart of the series — pure, adorable, and emotionally grounding without ever feeling forced. Their bond car…

Poco’s Udon World is a calm, heartwarming slice-of-life anime that focuses more on emotions and personal growth than on an exciting or complex plot. The story follows Souta as he returns to his hometown and ends up caring for Poco. The pacing is slow and relaxed, which fits the comforting tone of the series. It’s less about big events and more about small, everyday moments, healing, and self-discovery.
However, one of the most annoying parts is how misleading the title feels. With “Udon” in the name, you’d expect food or the udon shop to be a major focus, but it barely comes up until the very last episode. Instead, the anime mainly centers on Souta’s struggles with adulthood, grief, and finding his place in life, with Poco helping him grow along the way. Even so, the show is still charmin…

I went in expecting another generic food anime, alongside some shape-shifter shenanigans, but instead I discovered the most heartwarming slice of life anime I've ever seen. Poco is plain adorable, and the story develops surprisingly naturally, considering the supernatural circumstances. I wish there was more to this story, but unless I read the Manga, I doubt I'll find anything more. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the need to get up and hug their loved ones.
The Art style is simply incredible too, always having this radiant warmth to it, like the pastel drawings of a child, similar to Studio Ghiblis Ponyo.

I watched Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari. My thoughts on it are written below.
I initially passed on this because of the totally unenticing premise, but eventually gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised.
Insanely cute scenes with some deeper emotional undertones about life and family.
Poco a cute! CUTE!
Male ~3/8 life crisis: the anime Direction is inconsistent but ranges from mediocre to bad. Which is a damn shame. The entire series is sloppily executed in terms of direction. Direction is a deep flaw of this anime. With improved direction this anime would have been far better, I think.
Animation and overall production quality are mediocre. OST is unremarkable aside from the OP song.
Ultimately, it is a seemingly low-budget manga adaptation. The strength of this anime arises fro…

A heartwarming tale about family, loss and how choices made on poor communication can drift people apart.
Souta changes overtime by the cute Poco and is slowly reminded of his past. Memories of his family that he tried to push away and make a career of his own. Being made into a parent, he gets a perspective that he didn't have before and understands more of his now lost father.
The lore behind Poco's existence is known from the get-go, but the way it is used to deepen the characters is beautiful. By interacting with them they slowly see themselves, understand, accept it& move on.
The ending was just beautiful, pulling everything together and wrapping it in a nice bow.
The art is very cute as well, did a wonderful job of showing the characters emotions.
Overall, if you'd like a relaxin…

I was expecting to watch an anime that's talking about Udon since the title is Udon No Kuni....
it was okay but I was kinda disappointed, the anime rarely shows something about Udon.
I was hoping that the main character will reopened the restorant but no, I get that he doesn't have to follow his father's path because he isn't his father but it just feels wrong to put Udon in the title when in reality it rarely talks about Udon. I was also hoping to see much information about Udon, but whatever, I should've not expecting so much.
Poco was cute but that's all, it's actually a bit suprised me when souta got too attached to Poco at the first episode, it almost felt like a "forced chemistry" but whatever.
the story is also a bit weird and it feels like the sides character are there for noth…

Kuni no Kiniro Kemari.
Heartwarming.
Family.
Companion.
Love.
Dreams.
Misunderstandings.
Failures. Just wow. I am literally late, but I know it was for a reason. I relate to this anime very much. I lost someone very important to my life, without saying goodbye. I realized how immature and selfish I am.
Plus, the opening and ending songs are lit. Most esp the ending song. Gosh.
Please, if you have time. You need to watch this.
You won't regret it. I cried too. I really enjoyed this show. Oh my gosh.
This is really heartwarming. I'm smiling while crying. I love this!!
Thank you so much.

wow, just wow. the characters are developed so well that when anything emotional comes up it has really substantial weight. I really enjoyed this show. I had expected it to just be a nice intermission between other shows I was watching, but this one stole my attention in a heartbeat. There are definitely some sad parts to this show, and I got pretty teary at points too. Not all out bawling like in Violet Evergarden for example but it was a different kind of sad then I'm used to. it's not tragic or painful. it comes from the skilled and well thought out storytelling of the show itself. 8/10 very good. definitely worth the watch, but be prepared for more than just a goofy story.

Souta is taking a break from his life as a web designer by returning to his rural home. His father was against him moving to the city and had wanted him to take over his udon business. As he returns home, he meets a little boy who seemed to be lost so Souta decides to name him "Poco" and take care of him for the time being.
As Souta and Poco spends time together they become closer and many of Souta's own friends and family take a liking to Poco. Souta is also reminded of his own time spent with his father but soon learns more about why Poco had really appeared before him.
It's a cute show as you watch a kind of foster parent relationship forming with a little supernatural added in. If you need a show to watch with little fan service, this is one of them.

Poco's Udon World: Top 10 Anime Betrayals
Before delving into my reasoning for my rating, let me first state that Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari is honestly a delightful show, for the most part. But the ending of Poco has permanently coloured the entire series for me in a frustrating and less-than-flattering light. Most of the time if an anime has an unsatisfactory ending, I can still look back on my enjoyment of the journey. But Poco's ending left me feeling empty, like the journey had been pointless.
Art: The series has a nice clean style which fits the slice of life tone. I liked the soft rim lighting on all the characters which added a unique visual element to the series. Sometimes the way Poco's expressions were drawn were a little much (in a trying too hard kind of way) but for the…

I won't write bad review often, but sometimes I feel I have to.
This Anime bears "Udon (Noodle)" in title and the story is set in Kagawa - known as "Udon Kingdom" in Japan. The main character SOUTA is just came back from Tokyo when his father passed away, his initial intention was to close down father's once famous Udon Restaurant. You may expect this Anime is SOUTA to find out charm of Udon and succeed farther's restaurant, right? Forget about it. Through the whole episodes, almost nothing happens about Udon. Almost nothing happens with his relationship with POKO - magical Tanuki creature - neither, until very last two episodes.
Not only about Udon or POKO - story is terribly thin. SOUTA goes to places with POKO, meets many people, but nothing happens at all. Side characters are also thin…

Poco's Udon World is one of the best shows i have ever seen and i'm disappointed that it has gone largely unnoticed. I picked this show up on a whim about halfway through the Fall 2016 season after looking for something to watch on Crunchyroll.
Don't let the title of the show fool you. Udon is certainly relevant to the story but Poco's Udon World is not a cooking anime, rather it is the tale of a man reliving memories of his childhood after he comes into contact with a Tanuki that can shape shift into a human child. Whilst trying to keep Poco's true form hidden our main protagonist stumbles upon all sorts of adventures that ultimately end up with him learning something about himself, remembering a fragment of his past or forming a bond with various people.
Basically, Poco's existence ma…

I'm a huge sucker for animes that invoke fluffy feelings of happiness from watching the day-to-day interactions of parental figures taking care of young children. I expected Poco's Udon World to invoke some of these feelings, but I had anticipated it to be more of a comedy anime similar to titles such as Barakamon or Gugure Kokkurisan.
[Story & Characters] => 6 & 7
I expected the story of this anime to just be about Souta taking in Poco and teaching him about life and how to be a human, but it was a little deeper than that. In the midst of the cute moments between the two, you also could see the deeper feelings of trying to find your purpose in life or regret about not speaking to loved ones before they pass on.
The characters in these episodes also felt like they had a little more d…

I spent all night binge watching Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari and now I'm flat out frustrated. The anime kept me entertained for the majority of the series, but then episode 10 comes around making Poco as a character irrelevant. He was simply a plot device personified and then thrown out at the end.
Why so much character building over something that apparently is insignificant to the actual story. The story could have easily been told in one episode without Poco without frustrating me to the point of pulling my hair out.
I really enjoyed the series until the last episode when it felt like I were given two middle fingers from the writer. We were given 11 episodes of build up for what felt like a Neon Genesis Evangellion ending.
Poco had a massive growing experience learning as things pr…

One word, awesome!!
If you like the anime that gives you nostalgic feeling, brings out that happy part from your soul then I'll recommend you this anime. Watch it; you'll both cry and be happy at the same time. I have always fascinated by slice of life anime, and this is one those beautiful symphony that will echo in your heart forever.
ED is also great. Kinda I relate this anime to Anohana, but also it has got it's own plot. Sister, a friend, some random neighbors, school life crush, a nasty child, this all completes a happy family. Personally I felt the guilt that why I am not living the same life as these people do. This one is worth watching folks. Also the side story is also kinda Kawaii :0.
loved it. <3

Do you feel like its the end of the world?
Too much problem on your side?
Want to soothe and heal your heart?
Or you just don't know which anime to watch?
I guess this anime is worth watching and taking your precious time. This anime really gives me an extraordinary feeling every time I watch it.
I never knew that this anime will soothe and melt my heart away.
Even though I don't know the story of this anime neither the manga, I don't really know why but this anime for sure, it will tingle your heart.
It is intriguing why this kind of anime are often neglected but this anime relieves all my problems even for a moment.
It really touches my heart. <3
I don't anticipate what will happen next and it will not give you cliches moments but trust me. 1 episode is enough to intrigue you.…

I seem to really love "found family" stories and this is one of the best; quite possibly THE best "adoptive parent-child" story since Iroh and Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, at least in my eyes. It's very sweet and I love all of the characters, from Poco and Souta, to Nakajima, Tanaka, and even Gaogao. Although I didn't love the show-within-a-show, Gaogao-chan as much, and found myself skipping that after a few episodes. Souta is the greatest anime-dad and kids don't come any cuter than Poco. I did have a couple of frustrations, such as how Souta wouldn't confide in anyone about Poco's true nature, even to his sister or his best friend who were extremely supportive and caring towards the main duo, as well as the bittersweet ending, although it's very briefly hinted in the last scene…

High ratings guys. but
Story: 9.5
I mean this anime is a heartstring puller, it has a lot of feels in it, and sometimes you will go like "AWW THATS SO CUTEEEE" kinda anime. This anime revolves around a tanuki and an adult that kinda goes through a family like story, trying to hide from everyone that poco is the tanuki. The reason i did not give it a ten was the sort of rushed ending.. but you know. MAN THIS STUFF IS GOOD.
Art: 10
Look at the cover art. its beautiful, the animation is flowy as well.
Sound: It was not memorable as an OST but OP and ED definitelyare good.
Character: 10
Cute, fluffy, clumsy, emotional, what more can you really ask?
Enjoyment / Overall: 10
Despite the rushed ending, it was quite sad and stuff, but the emotional train this anime will take you on is absol…

Okay, I don't exactly remember how long it has been since I wrote my last anime review; so I guess I'll resume the same with this one.
It's only been 10 episodes, 2 more to go till the series meets its end; but still... I'd like to be frank in here.
Poco's Udon World is something you don't get to come across everyday. It is one of those slice of life anime which I would refer to as 'Calm' and 'Beautiful'. The feature that distinguishes this particular anime from most others of the similar genre is that it is actually 'KAWAII' and 'HONEST'.
This very series which deals with the life of an ambitious web-designer who abandons his place and family business and migrates to a bigger city in search of opportunity.
The story line isn't anything extraordinary although the part where he encounte…

Udon No Kuni No Kiniro Kemari exceeded my expectations. Reminds me of Barakamon(that is one of my favorite animes).
The anime tells the story of a man who returns to the town where he was raised and, suddenly, find a cute and lost young boy, so he decides to stay in the city to take care of him. May sound a little silly, well, maybe it is, but that's what makes it so wonderful.
It's a simple anime, but also so great that gives you a great sensation while watching it. It warms your heart and brings you a cozy sensation. The episodes I've seen brought me calm. It doesn't seem to have a deep story, but every episode gives you an inexplicable happiness.
I've only watched 2 episodes till now and I feel like it won't let me down, but I can't antecipate myself. After watching some more episodes…
