My god how do I even begin this anime genuinely made me so emotional - seeing how menma was a ghost from the start and backtracking and finding out the history between her and junta and the rest of the group and how they each have regrets about how the fated day took place and ended was gripping - the final episode might be one of the best episodes I watched Ina. Really long time - the final game of hide and seek had me almost choking with tears and seeing the letters menma wrote to everyone was the cherry on top - the main gripe and probably the only problem I had was the the obsessive friend that also liked menma - genuinely aggravated me and found him to be pretty annoying and inconsiderate - other than that a splendid show

Throughout this show's initial episodes, I saw a multitude of parallels to Summertime Rendering. I am a sucker for any piece of media that feels like summer, and I can appreciate that Anohana is contained within a single season: it adds to the cohesion of the plot.
However, similar to Summertime Rendering, I am not a fan of Anohana's fan-service - specifically in relation to Honma and Anjou - and it greatly detracted from the viewing experience.
It is established within the first episode that all of the characters are teenagers, going through puberty, in highschool. Why does Honma's first interaction with Yadomi involve her sitting on his lap (and seemingly cause him to orgasm)? What point does this serve in the plot?
In contrast to the multiple innuendos aimed at Honma being less develop…

I love slice-of-life anime in general, but this one really captivated me.
It's a truly nostalgic anime that instantly transports us back to childhood, offering the greatest possible comfort. I find that Meiko's humorous contributions make the scenes more lively. Even though she can't be seen, she speaks over other characters or addresses them as if they could see each other.
But this work is primarily about the brighter tomorrow that awaits us despite the periods of suffering we go through, and about knowing when to take the plunge.
Even the animation was really nice for 2011 but the realisation is a few basic for a 11 episodes anime
In short, everything I love about slice-of-life anime.

8.5/10
Anohana is a large pill to swallow. After a tragic accident that befalls his friend group, teenage Jintan has given up on living. He’s a recluse who’s dropped out of school and has no purpose, desires, or goals while bumming around his dad’s shop. When he’s suddenly haunted by the spirit of his dead friend Menma, he’ll discover the path to acceptance—and maybe find meaning to life again.
Anohana’s deep subject matter doesn’t feel good on top of the various contrivances presented with the main cast’s relationships. It also struggles to find the balance of examining grief while showing positive change. We see the main cast suffering, but we don’t always see how the greater impact of Menma’s death on their personal lives. Deeper questions surrounding loss are second to a messy love t…

5 sentence review:
Crybait, kinda whole point the show though.
Not a bad concept to be honest.
Not much happens plotwise, definitely a more character driven show.
Length wasn't bad, I feel like it fit the show pretty well.
Characters weren't all that rememberable.
The guy who crossdressed as a way of dealing with grief was my favourite. Random thought:
Dunno why but I didn't feel that attached to the main characters. MC felt lame but that matches what the show wanted me to see him as, he's meant to be depressed after all. Not a bad ending or a bad show, I just genuinely can't remember any of the character's names...
I have confused feelings about this show.

This show should have had a great deal of emotional impact and character focus. However for some reason the writers of it seemed to have never figured out how to make this work further than the premise.
What we get here is mostly static teenage characters being stuck in the past after emotional trauma, guilt and grief hit them, because they lost a close friend in their childhood days. It would have been amazing if we could have see these characters overcome these feelings, move on and grow over the cause of the show. And honestly that is about what you would expect out of something exploring these topics for 11 episodes.
But once again this show does not do that. Instead we get some insignificant slice of life comedy and drama while only in the very last two episodes the show seems to r…

When someone dies it can be hard to remember that we are still ourselves without this person in our lives even though it can be hard to feel that way. In this story we follow a boy who seems to have lost all sight of himself after the death of his childhood crush and the toll it took on their entire friend group. The big twist here is that he has her ghost guiding him to a goal that we as an audience don't know. If you are looking for a tragically beautiful story on how to deal with grief and also how we as humans can get back up after tragedies this is the series that can help you find some spark and motivation to keep moving forward (just be ready to cry though).

genuinely the most aggressively boring anime I've ever watched. I felt nothing but boredom while watching this. I can't call it a shit show cuz I wouldn't necessarily say its bad but holy is it nothing to note. I hate it so much for being so little. All humor in the show is cliche and safe, nothing funny was said the entire show. The cast of characters was mediocre at best and bad at worst. They all felt like watered down versions of stereotypical romcom characters. the plot was nothing revolutionary either. hiding behind loss of a loved one doesn't make up for the first half of the show being completely pointless especially considering the premise has been done a million times and at least 10 thousand times better than this. soooooo borring im getting bored just thinking about the show. t…

Anohana is an amazing show and emotional rollercoaster, and while I wholeheartedly recommend watching it, I do have my issues with it.
I think that a lot of the emotional scenes towards the middle of the show fail to hit by the nature of the tone that they were trying to go for. It's supposed to be a meloncholy yet lighthearted show, but I think it's the lighthearted bits that bring it down. A character will be going through a full meltdown, their entire world shaken, then another character will hop in and make the whole situation better with a single sentence. It doesn't happen every time, and in my opinion, the show excels when it lets the characters sit in those moments. Obviously diffusing a conflict or consoling someone is human nature, and they're wonderful storytelling devices whe…

Anohana isn’t just an anime, it’s an emotion.
At first glance, it may look like a simple story about childhood friends who drifted apart, but as it unfolds, it pulls your heartstrings in the softest and most painful ways.
The story revolves around a group of childhood friends brought back together by the ghost of their friend, Menma. What follows is not just a journey of helping her move on, but also helping themselves heal from the guilt, pain, and regrets they’ve silently carried for years.
Every character is written with such emotional depth that you’ll feel their struggles as your own. From Jinta’s broken isolation to Anaru’s hidden sorrow, everything feels real.
The emotions are raw, the pacing is perfect, and the storytelling is beautifully simple, yet deeply impactful.
The OST, e…

Characters:
Menma is pedobait, typical pussy cuck NEET MC, Naruko is cute and her arc seems to revolve around hanging out with sluts and becoming one herself to cope with Meiko’s death, we also got fat hobo NEET, studious glasses girl who’s crush sadly only has eyes for ghost loli then last but not least said crush Atsumu who’s by far the best character.
Story:
Dogshit soap opera, the crossdressing Atsumu reveal was pure kino though. Every episode just involves childhood friends crying over dead loli or Atsumu being based (crossdressing, lusting after dead loli, being an asshole stuff like that). There’s no substance whatsoever just dumb nonsense drama. WAAAAAH MENMA CHAN WAAAAAAAH AIEEEEEEEEEEE WAAAAAAAH
Visuals/Soundtrack:
Soundtrack is crap, just the same inset song played over a…

Man, Anohana hit me right in the feels. This anime is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, and I’m not even mad about it—solid 10/10 for me.
The story revolves around a group of childhood friends who drifted apart after the tragic death of Menma, one of their own. Years later, her spirit appears to Jinta, the former leader of their group, setting off a journey of reconciliation, grief, and healing. And let me tell you, the way this anime handles loss and nostalgia? Absolutely gut-wrenching.
The characters are what make this anime shine. Each of them is dealing with their own guilt and regrets in such a raw and realistic way. Watching them slowly come to terms with their past while trying to grant Menma’s wish was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. And don’t even get me star…

AnoHana combines two quotes that I like: the first is mystery and the second is romance (but good romance). The story is so good, that i watched it in one day. All characters are good written. The main character is really interesting aswell as the supporting characters. The fact that this anime not have an open ending is really good. The last scene got me really emotional and I cried a little bit. It is really dramatic, especially in the two last episodes where you have a lot of conflicts between the characters.
I recommend it to everyone who likes drama, mystery and romance. And get prepared to cry.

I didn't expect to be soo hit by Anohana as I had previously watched animes that were perceived as "tearjerkers" and did not cry or feel emotional, but Anohana broke me down to the core, It starts off in a way that isnt necessarily "Happy" But I guess uplifting? and does a great job building the characters, but as they start to realize their goals and the ending it REALLY started to hit with the waterworks, I Probably didnt pick up on everything, but from what i picked up on holy shit....
Art - 10/10 The animation style is simple, but really really fits the theme, the backgrounds look amazing and I really am a sucker for fireworks, they somehow bring such a calm yet sad vibe that signifies the end of something to me, by looking at the trailer and op and ed I didnt expect to be attached to…

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this anime at first. I saw this for the first time in HS had to be around 2015 or so. I think the first time I saw this it was rated at a 7 on MyAnimeList. The story for Ano Hi Mita was pretty good one thing I did not really care for was the back stories. I felt like it kind of ruined the pacing in present day. I know that the back story was needed to describe what’s going on with the characters, but I thought it was a little boring to be honest. Truth be told though I was never one for backstories or fillers so this is definitely a biased opinion. IF you’re looking for a tearjerker though I will a thousand percent say watch Ano Hi Mita. This anime jerked me and I had no intentions of my tears being jerked.
The Art was amazing I love anime with this style o…

Everyone has a lot of shows they hate, but , there has to be 1 show which you hate but everyone loves.
For me, that show is Anohana.
In a nutshell, this series is a mess, a story filled with plot holes and inconsistent, unlikeable characters that only succeeded in capitivating its audience by triggering their emotions.
[Contains Some Spoilers Below To Explain Plot Holes]
The story starts off slow with the MC having problems seeing the ghost of Menma who was in a friend group with a cringe name and died due to an accident. It happening when they were children makes this whole thing way more meaningless than it seems. Due to this and uninteresting characters, I struggled with it at first.
At first, no one takes MC seriosuly, in the middle, the MC gradually gets everyone to trust him. Wa…

Because of how absurd and ridiculous it was after finishing the series, I will keep this in point form.
-Good music
-Common Japanese setting with not-so-common story. Nothing too special as story unfolds.
-Those in middle school or younger seem to be the target audience. With a mature brain, it's difficult to watch. But If you are easily moved, It could be a masterpiece.
-Lack of character building and development. All characters seemed 'unfinished'. -The build-up towards the climax was dull.
-The way the lead characters showed an excessive obsession with one girl from childhood to high school felt strange and a little unsettling.
-Outdated masterpiece.
In conclusion, 6/10 - not enjoyable, waste of time.
Anime promoting Buddhist reincarnation.

The premise is amazing, so here's a good synopsis.
Jinta starts tripping because he can see his childhood friend Menma.
However Menma is supposed to had been dead for years, turns out Menma is a ghost.
Jinta and the rest of the gang is going to fulfill a wish of Menma so she can go to heaven.
With that premise you'd think the story is fairly light-earted, but it's actually a tear jerker.
The characters are incredibly flawed and complex, the ending was fucking fire not gonna lie.
And yes, I'm still depressed after the ending.
Menma starts off as kinda annoying but she gets better as time goes on.
All the characters are amazing, I can't even choose which is my favorite.
10/10 MASTERPIECE
