Arte

Introduction

In the 16th century, the city of Florence booms with cultural and creative revival in celebration of the Renaissance. Arte, a delightful young lady from an aristocratic family, dreams of being an artist and contributing to the renewal of civilization. However, with her father's death, she ends up losing the only person who believed in her passion for art. Now she is expected to marry a nobleman and live as a refined housewife without disgracing her family name. Reluctant to accept her fate, the headstrong Arte steps into the streets in search of a master artisan to take her on as an apprentice. In her quest for a mentor, Arte has to face harsh reality when she is completely shunned for being a female artist. No one believes that women are capable of fine craftsmanship, and therefore none are willing to accept her. Luckily, a renowned artisan by the name of Leo is persuaded to take her as his disciple since he has none anyway. And thus, Arte's new life begins, far from the comfort of her noble upbringing. As an apprentice, she must earn her keep while tackling various challenges along the difficult path to becoming a full-fledged, master artisan. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

German text below -------------------------- Arte is a charming 12-part anime series about 14-year-old Arte, who has to fight against many prejudices to fulfill her dream of becoming a painter in 16th-century Florence. The subject matter alone could lead one to dismiss or even criticize the series prematurely—but that would be unfair. In fact, Arte is a life-affirming and loving series. Men in particular initially treat Arte with prejudice, but are won over by her strong will and determination. The series does not portray exaggerated antagonists: the men are not depicted as “pure evil,” but their rejection is limited to the attitude that “a woman cannot paint.” There are no sexual assaults or innuendos – which is a positive aspect of the series. I could well imagine that it was similar i…

✒🎨 Not Artsy or Smartsy Enough °5.4° °avg°💯%🔍 some minor spoilers Arte left her well-to-do home prior to the arranged wedding but after the arranged proposal. She doesn't want to be someone's dutiful wife. She wants to be an 🎨artist🖼. Arte takes place in 15th century Florence, at the birth of the Renaissance. Viewers get to know that amazing time and some of the amazing artists that it produced - that's the whole point. I watched Arte as I was falling in love with anime. All I can say is that it left me rather underwhelmed. It's certainly not the worst, but unless you have a niche interest in the topics it covers, I hardly think it's worth the viewing time, which is close to 3 hours. It's not a life-changing decision either way. There's just so much better programming out there.…

This anime is overall quite decent and carries many uplifting and progressive messages. It's rare to see a show focused on art, especially one highlighting the role of women in the male-dominated art world of 16th-century Florence. Instead of delving deeply into technical terms or artistic knowledge, the show emphasizes the challenges of making a living and gaining respect as a woman in society. It also serves as a powerful illustration of the feminist movement, not as a fight to dominate or threaten men, but rather a call for equal opportunities for all genders. Arte is the perfect protagonist for this theme: motivated by change and success in her beloved field, yet not harboring resentment toward those who doubt her. Her positive attitude ensures that any obstacles she faces become mer…

If you enjoy Art and Crafts I think you'd like this Anime for seeing how it was all done in that past. I'm not sure if this view is frowned on or not here, but I'd recommend you watch at least parts of it in Dubbed. I feel that the budget that may have came with the Universal the English version is the best I've watched in ages, just from the simple part of there being Italian words thrown in from time to time. It feel's to me that a lot of attention went into making every character you meet in the show feel real, I don't know I just feel this show hit at the right time of my life for me. if you like the history of the time period then it's an easy recommend from me.

Disclaimer that I have not read the manga for this. Don't know if I will, but in case the manga is much more well done, I just wanted to let you know I cannot testify to that. I think if you expect this anime to be good because of its unique setting and main character, I would tell you not to expect that. Overall, this anime is fairly generic. It's not really bad, but its also not fantastic which is why I felt like writing a review, it feels like most of the reviews already out there are very polarizing. The first few episodes are extremely heavy-handed with the sexism, and it felt like the author didn't trust the audience to get the message the first time. It was kind of awkward. But it got better, or at least, it got more subtle and natural in the ways it brought up the feminist them…

"Arte" is probably one of the most beautiful, visually pleasing and meaningful animes I have ever watched. While reading so many negative reviews, I was surprised at how much this series was not well understood by so many people. "Arte" is certainly one ambitious project, which aims to entertain but also reflect. Let's start with the plot: Arte Spalletti is a young Florentine noble woman with a passion for drawing. However, she is hindered by her mother and by society in general, which does not accept that a woman of noble origins can become a painter. But Arte doesn't give up, and she finds work in the workshop of a somewhat mysterious artist named Leo, where she will be able to learn more about her passion and work to make her dream come true. The plot is strongly feminist, mostly cent…

Yet another show that has been misattributed as Slice of Life on MAL. At this point I'm convinced that label gets slapped on any anime that doesn't revolve around fight scenes. Be in no doubt though, while Arte's tale of a young noble girl who runs away from home to become an artist doesn't involve overt fisticuffs, the story has more in common with sports anime like Hajime no Ippo than it does with SoL shows like Yurucamp. The trademark SoL genre traits of minimal conflict and loose plot structure are nowhere to be found here. Set in renaissance Florence, Arte's quest to become a professional artist is met with constant roadblocks due to the overwhelming sexism of the time. Armed with borderline genki girl tenacity, Arte bull rushes her way through each obstacle, often becoming literally…

I never thought I'd find another anime that hit me as deep as Natsume Yuujinchou did. And then I came across this treasure and was in love from the first episode. It's hard for me to even begin describing it, because it's such a powerful and inspirational series - not to mention highly relatable. I'll start there: Who it's for, and who I would recommend it to: - Aspiring artists - Creative souls - Stigmatized, marginalized, or minority folks (define minority how you like, I am using the term liberally here). The more you have been discriminated against (or faced extreme hardship) to pursue your life's passion, the more you will be able to relate to, and enjoy this show. - People who enjoy strong female characters - Friends of those mentioned above. If you don't fall into one of these c…

Story 10/10 + Renaissance Italy, seems like decent research was done as well to portray the life in this historic time period, comedy, with a hint of romance, no focus on religion or other such political issues (less drama) though they do get mentioned - Not clear which period exactly through other well-known painters/happenings Art 10/10 +Much detail to renaissance style, love for art seeps through the anime, most beautiful hands drawn even in the last episodes - some real artworks renditions for anime don't fit as well (some are adapted to anime style, others not) Sound 9/10 + nice background sounds, some reoccurring theme song for certain characters were fun and recognisable - no real remarkable intro & ending songs Character 10/10 + earnest hard-working girl, much in-depth history a…

Arte is a story about a girl who wants to be a painter in Renaissance Italy. I watched this anime as I read that it was a feminist anime, etc. The anime does have feminist leanings, although I wouldn't classify it as such. It makes Arte's acceptance into society and the painting scenario almost too easy and simple. it kind of gave the typical misogynist vibe of "women being responsible for their own oppression". Considering the 16th-17th century society, the opposition a woman would face was tremendous, not to mention Arte did not even have a father to back her up. So it kinda makes light of the struggles of women during the time. Overall the series was interesting and fun to watch, but is nowhere close to being a feminist anime.

I'd recommend this for my kids to watch. It's got a good moral foundation and brings light to how passions like art shouldn't just been given up on so easily if there's determination to back it. Personally, I thought this was a pretty refreshing anime to watch. I watch a lot of shonen and psychological thrillers, so this is not my usual type to watch. But I became really interested in the theme of a noble woman leaving her family to work for a life she can live on her own. Its girl-power plot that's actually tasteful and does bring regard to the old male-mind in a new age light. Being a show broad casted dubbed in 2020 (and my universal studios) it's very entertaining.

Ok, starting off, this was hands-down one of my favourite Spring 2020 anime. Truly. It just pushed all my buttons-historical setting, woman-centric, feel-good story with a garnishing of psychological dilemma. What’s not to love? But seriously, there are a few specific reasons why I loved this anime. First of all, let’s start with the woman of the hour, Arte. Of course her naivete is a bit on the higher side (anime liberty I guess), but I kinda get it, in a way. She was a sheltered girl, educated only in what was thought was required for women of nobility of the time, which really wasn’t much. She was lucky enough to be encouraged in her passion by her father, but that was gone when he went, and all her mother (again typically) just wants her to find a husband and give up art. And of course…

I didn’t know what to expect coming into this anime but it was a pleasant surprise. Despite being a noble and no other women really being in the arts, Arte wants to follow her dream and be an artist. Arte’s incredibly stubborn and believes she can overcome any obstacle. She always tries to help everyone she possible can, by the end of the show the impact of her kindness to others truly show. It shows a lot of strong and empowering women beating the odds. My only real critique of the show is how fast Arte overcomes her obstacles, but how much can you truly fit into a 12 episode series. This anime was very refreshing and even brought me out of my art block.

アルテ - The anime adaptation is based on the manga series by Ohkubo, Kei. The idea is borrowed from the life story of a real painter and tries to give an insight into a chapter in contemporary history. Since I am very fond of historical references, it was only a matter of time before I stumbled upon this anime. Story: Simple and suitable for the target group, but unfortunately too romantic from a historical point of view (6/10) In the archaic world of the 16th century, a young daughter from a noble family wants to become a painter. This does not sound very exciting at first, but the story has a kernel of truth. It is not immediately obvious, but the first name Arte could be short for Artemisia and would thus refer to the Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi. Well, one could object that th…

Enjoyment: Let me start off by saying Arte is very much a shoujo anime. It's not seinen and I wouldn't call it a romance either. That being said, it's very cute and I found it extremely easy to watch. I binged the whole thing in a day without getting bored and I liked it a lot (obviously). :) Story: I will concede that this might not be for everyone. The main focus of the show is essentially "Arte wants to be a painter, but men are sexist, so she tries really hard and proves them all wrong." It's basic, but I don't think that's a bad thing. If that sort of storyline bothers you, I wouldn't watch this show. There are other themes, but the main focus is on feminism and accepting your upbringing/background. Also keep in mind that this is all approached in a very "shoujo" way. The lessons a…

I'll start off by saying I don't usually write reviews, and I'm a generous grader. But I really enjoyed this show, and seeing so many negative reviews (which almost made me not watch the show) made me want to put in a short word of my own. I'll start at the end. Without spoiling anything, this show is one where the ending just feels right. I was satisfied, and though watching the whole thing in one sitting probably added to this feeling, it felt like I had just finished a good movie. No loose ends, and it seemed right. Now, I don't know anything about art history or the lady this was based off of; this seems to be the distinction between positive and negative reviews. As a work all of its own, this anime is amazing. I personally just really enjoyed the characters and Arte's development,…

Anime that deals with mature themes and many do not know how to digest it very well because they are used to shonen patterns. For those who have a hatred for this anime, review it with a slightly more purified look and with less prejudice. This show is about a dream, purpose and all the struggle that a female protagonist had to face in order to do what she really wanted. For those who say that the narrative is tiring because everything is justified on the basis of "but you are a woman", you really didn't understand anything. That is the purpose of the thing, she couldn't do anything because she was a woman and had to prove, at every moment of her life, that she could walk on her own legs. The anime addresses issues of social class, dreams, gender inequality, social relationships, status…

Arte is the type of anime that I look for. As someone who's interested in art and history I found this show to be the perfect combination, along with Arte's journey to be who she wants that made it more impactful The aspect I liked the most about this story was Arte's character. Her determination to follow her dream and break free from the standers people set out for her because of her gender is so inspiring and empowering to see. Also she's so positive and optimistic amidst all the hardships she was facing, and that trait always make me enjoy a protagonist. I wish it expanded more on the history and culture aspect of it. I think it would've been beneficial to the overall story if we focused more on the setting and time period. Overall thought the show to be really enjoyable, the stor…

As I make this repost with possible spoilers, I'd say that this anime this anime goes way beyond than fancy historical and all that fuss about the art, this anime was about women's struggle in the chauvinistic world of the Renaissance Period, sure the Italian theme was given a Japanize theme and the characters name most don't look like Italian, but that's not the point that the original creator, Ookubo Kei trying to point out , rather it was the stereotype that women faced during the said time where they're regulated either a wife material or Nun Material, so How do I rate this anime???? Story- Very Good 8: As there is this Black Lives Matter protest that goes on around the world amid the Covid 19 pandemic , this anime's story plot was just timely given that women at the time of the Renai…
