What a hell of a problematic anime...
Eromanga-sensei is a series that revolves around an erotic manga artist. Right off the bat, there’s a problem: that artist is a teenage girl. But fine, let’s make an effort to overlook that for now. As the story unfolds, we meet her brother, Masamune, also a writer, who becomes a co-protagonist alongside Sagiri. Then another issue arises: Masamune harbors romantic feelings for his own sister.
Yeah.
Let’s try to look past that, too, and keep going. The story follows Masamune, a young light novel author who works with "Eromanga-sensei," a mysterious illustrator responsible for his books' artwork. Eventually, we discover that Eromanga-sensei is actually Sagiri, his younger sister, who lives in near-total isolation at home.
The premise could have yield…

Let me set the scene: I started Eromanga Sensei thinking, “Alright, maybe this is just another cheesy romcom with some light chaos I can have fun roasting.” But instead, I ended up watching 12 episodes of emotionally confused storytelling, where characters talk about their “dreams” like they're chasing legacy while writing what is basically erotic sibling fanfiction. The vibes are all over the place—sometimes trying to be wholesome, sometimes awkwardly suggestive—and it’s constantly dancing on that fine line between oddly sincere and deeply uncomfortable.
I laughed here and there. I cringed a lot. And once in a while, I saw glimpses of something genuine… but they never lasted. It’s one of those shows that sounds like it has meaning, right until you realize it’s just the same handful of c…

Back from 4th rewatch, and yeah it is still one of the most fun and cute rom-com series you can ever get in anime.
2025 now, almost 8 years since then and I don't remember any fun "rom-com" anime can make me giggles from my heart and say "ahh, I really love this"
Even 100 GFs, Roshidere, BokuYaba, Quintuplets, AoButa, Bisque Doll couldn't make me feel this way.
Example of good Rom-Com since then I can think is Angel Next Door (I wished they would give it proper sakuga)
The strength of Eromanga-sensei I think is in its lightness, quirky cast, and details on the fanservice its target audience actually wanted.
Unlike recent rom-coms that relies on heavy plots at some point, every heavy plots Eromanga-sensei had were compressed into a quick light one, which I found really easy to digest and w…

I don't know how to feel about this anime. It's sorta like watching Brother's Conflict at times and a little bit of My Next Life as a Villainess, but ecchi.
Though it's obviously in reverse as the sister loves the MC but would pull this tsundere act. The problem with it is that there were times that I couldn't tell if the guy loves her the same way that she does or if he just loves her as a brother loves his sibling. Episode 12 was the worst one in the bunch. After watching it, I can understand why the US didn't continue to distribute the manga (or release the light novel) cause oof, it just wasn't meant to be published. The only thing that was good about the anime was the opening theme, it's truly a banger and I feel bad for the song for having to be the op for this anime.
Though there…

Every once in a while you will click on a show with a stupid synopsis thinking it will take an interesting turn. This is not one of those times. I cannot find the redeeming quality of Eromanga. That usually puts a show at 2-4 for me. The rating of 1 is saved for shows that offer nothing but also attempt to disgust you on top of that.
It's one thing to make a harem about middle schoolers. It's a completely different thing to regularly sexualize them with questionable scenarios or questionable camera angles. If you ignore that, you will have to also deal with the incest baiting. If you ignore that, I am not sure what will even be left.
The cast is the average cliche cast. A very quick and accurate description: Dense, reactive, safe, status quo maintaining protagonist. Shy sister. A tsunder…

Throughout this series, I found myself involuntarily doing a few things (not in any particular order, some more than others):
1) Looking away from the screen because of really, really suggestive content
2) Seesawing between incest and not-incest
3) Thinking to myself, "The hell did I just see?"
It's a pretty normal anime with some highly suggestive sexual elements in it. and my gods it took me so long to realize that there wasn't going to be any incest (at least in the anime, I haven't read the manga. Yet). Would it surprise you guys if I was disappointed that there wasn't any incest? Sure its wrong and inappropriate, but I am sure it would have been a guilty pleasure of quite a lot of people on this site if it had.
However, this anime does in fact live up to its name as a romantic come…

Spoiler-less, TL;DR, fast, simple, and easy-to-digest review:
Siscon, Erotic, Shallow
5/10
Animation? Ok (+)
Acceptable art style and animation. It's just not great enough.
Characters? Meh (-) 1-dimensional, shallow at best.
Plot? Meh (-)
The story is... there. Episodical, yet not fulfilling enough. Another generic SoL with trashy premise and trashy tropes. Although there are some funni moments, it does not salvage its mediocrity.
Pacing? Bad (--)
(Yawn...) oh weh wah? Oh... yeah. Sorry for dozing off. Uhh... pacing is like "GP2 pacing... GP2... arghh!"
"Even if you put uhh the roooket ship, it will be still P11"
(after couple of episodes)
"Pacing feels good... much slower than before. Amazing!"
(F1 reference lmao)
OST? Ok (+)
I heard this opening before. I kinda played it in osu be…

I grabbed this title after finishing Oreimo (which I liked).
What to say about Eromanga... as a stand alone anime, it doesn't really do anything to set it apart from a generic story. You got your stepbro/stepsis that aren't actually related, some otaku culture, cute/ero scenes, a very light sad backstory and.... that's it. We didn't even get an answer about why Sagiri (girl MC) doesn't want to come out of her room. If I had to rate it as a first watcher, it's maybe a 6.
Now, if you watched Oreimo, you will enjoy this story much more. Basically it feels like an anime made for Oreimo fans that wanted more. But the thing is, there are a lot of Oreimo fans that like different things. You may or may not find those things here. I personally don't find what made me love Oreimo (the drama, mind…

Okay.
The designs are alright I guess. Nothing too special. MC is boring.
The story itself is fun I guess? Or maybe its just weird in a bad way? I don't really know.
Wait I do know. Its bad. Horrible. Incest anime like normal. I would not recommend this show to anyone unless they were a close friend or somebody who dabbles in this world. Now as my score says. This is one of my all time favorite anime. Its horrible. So bad its good. I love this dumpster fire. And maybe you would to. So give it a try.
10/10 would watch again.

Tsukasa Fushimi's spiritual successor to Oreimi aka 'my little sister can't be this cute'. Both shows exist in the same world and time to the point where the protagonists briefly meet.
Where Oreimi was a thoroughly miserable experience the premise here is much stronger. For one, the brother and sister are step siblings and the sister Sagiri expressly does not consider Masamune her brother for a couple of reasons. The other is that there is no abuse or tedious drama.
In fact despite the interest between these step siblings, the show is surprisingly wholesome and the ecchi is rather mild.
The premise is that the four year older Masamune takes care of his stepsister Sagiri in the house left by their dead parents. Sagiri is a shut-in who never leaves her room and they haven't seen each othe…

Everyone working on this show should be arrested and I honestly feel like I need some jail time just for watching it. I heard it was the worst of the worst so I gave it a shot and yup. It was. Ok so the premise of the show is this high schooler finds out his 12 year old sister draws erotica for him and so they fall in love. It’s a lot worse than it sounds. There are so many shots of her ass and thighs that just make me cringe and feel disgusting. So many shots of her panties or shots down her shirt. If she goes to change or take a bath you bet your ass we’re going to be forced to watch. They do this with the other girls as well with bikinis, lewd poses and such. Just please Japan, please stop funding shit like this. SHE’S 12! The writing is just a horny as well. In the first episodes this…

I somehow watched Eromanga Sensei to completion, including the OVA. Here are my thoughts:
Basically, this anime has a ton of sexualization and not much else. If you want ecchi cumbrain garbage, here's your jerk material. There's no other major selling point here.
Most of the main characters in this are writers or content creators in some form – I thought this might be an interesting dimension to explore. Unfortunately, this show does not deliver any kind of interesting story whatsoever. The supporting cast, despite being composed of artists, are mostly treated as sex objects, and the scriptwriting reflects this accordingly. I was initially hopeful for the content-creator perspective of this story, but they never really provided anything substantial in this regard. The male MC is a writer…

Eromanga Sensei is an anime that undoubtedly caught me by surprise. From its vibrant storytelling to its captivating humor, this series effortlessly won me over. As an anime enthusiast, I found myself thoroughly immersed in its world, eagerly awaiting each episode to unfold.
The show's strongest suit lies in its well-crafted comedy. Eromanga Sensei seamlessly weaves witty banter and hilarious situations, keeping the audience chuckling from start to finish. The comedic timing is impeccable, and the quirky interactions between the characters never fail to bring a smile to one's face. It's rare to find an anime that consistently delivers laughs without feeling forced or overdone, and this one truly excels in this regard.
Furthermore, the characters in Eromanga Sensei are incredibly endearin…

Well, well, well. If it isn't Eromanga-sensei, the anime that puts the "erotic" in "romantic comedy." I must say, this show is quite the spectacle, and not necessarily in a good way.
Let's start with the story. It follows the life of Masamune Izumi, a high school student and light novel author who teams up with his mysterious younger stepsister, Sagiri, who is also a talented illustrator. Together, they create erotic novels and navigate the complexities of sibling love and romance. It's a somewhat absurd and risqué premise, but it definitely has its moments of humor and heartwarming moments.
As for the characters, they're a mixed bag. Masamune is a likable protagonist, although he can be a bit too dense at times. Sagiri, on the other hand, is a polarizing character. She's cute and quirky…

Eromanga Sensei is an anime that elicits mixed feelings from viewers. On one hand, the animation quality is superb, with vibrant colors, detailed character designs, and fluid animation that makes the scenes visually engaging. Additionally, the show has a lively and catchy soundtrack that adds to the overall experience.
On the other hand, the story and characters can be polarizing for some viewers. The show's plot can be shallow and predictable at times, relying heavily on fan service and ecchi moments that may not be suitable for all viewers. Some may find the humor and jokes to be too juvenile or crass, while others may appreciate the light-hearted and comedic tone of the show.
In terms of character development, Eromanga Sensei has its moments of depth, but it can also fall short in pro…

I really wanted to like this, Sagiri is a babe, Elf is a hottie, Megumi was cute, and Tomoe was kind of alright. The plot is so idiotic it basically ruins everything great about the show (the lolis and the based fanservce). Why would anyone love Mr. Generic MC? Why introduce the other author so late into the story and make him "lel I'm SO not gay xdd"? The story is so dull through and through and suffers from all the issues that every Light Novel written for THE most imbecilic coomer readers is rife with. The MC is nothing, he likes porn, his step-sister. he is a little awkward, and is usually the straight man because he is allergic to comedy. His competition is so petty and stupid there is simply no way she can exist while being a remotely self-respecting person. Every female character ex…

Ero-manga Sensei was the one anime where most will be surprised by how much the anime is good from not just lurking at the time and giving it up in just the first few episodes.
It helps that the events that most of the anime’s workings is based on what Oreimo one of the most talked about anime(s) so much, whether people loved it or hated it. In the case, the character progression seen in the little sister and big brother in this case is partially due to the fact that the brother is a light novel author and the sister is a ero artist who managed to get the skills from her sister. Even though both of their families are different, what brings them together is the fact that his brother wants her to come out of her shell, while she wants to make art without having to user her brother as the ba…

What is a manga?
What is a sensei?
Who is the ero?
These are the thought-provoking questions the viewer is given when watching 'Eromanga Sensei'.
As Shakespeare said himself, '14 year old girls, find attractive, you should.'
'Juliet I am the Romeo'
Eromanga Sensei is a clear continuation of Shakespeare's highly intellectual literary works, on the basis that it too, places underaged women in more mature circumstances and situations. As we can see from one of the most critically aclaimed plays of the 16th century, it is apparent that women such as Juliet (or in this instance, Sagari) are pushed into forbidden love at the tender age of 13. This is clearly something that should be encouraged - we can infer this from Shakespeare's own perspective.
In Eromanga Sensei, we can see how inspired…

I don’t know if it's just my senses having worn down over the past few weeks from watching so much incest anime, but this wasn’t as painful to watch as Oreimo. While much of the dealing with being an otaku is toned down, so is the pain that was Kirino’s personality. In Ero-manga sensei, most of the characters feel much less forced and seem to have a sensible reason for what they do most of the time. Eromanga-sensei herself, Sagiri Izumi, while an absurd character, doesn’t act painfully and instead feels like a person trying to resolve their problems. Furthermore, Eromanga-sensei feels more self-conscious of what it is doing and plays by itself at points. That being said, Eromanga sensei feels like it's missing a lot. The plot feels non-existence and instead of focusing on the progression o…

A highly compacted story about the sillyness you own when staying young and acting so, simply because you haven't had a complete family life in your childhood. About a longing for dreams and emotions and the hilarious idiocy everone arrives at when being cared for and taken seriously suddenly.
"Just" a very comedic, stupidly funny and very realistic slice of life.
Meant for people who have "left the house" and those that want to.
Sadly MAL doesn't allow reviews this short, so i have to add some thoughts. The thing is i do not want to, because it is clear to me what will happen if i do a deep dive in how this anime literally depicts the status quo of many - as in too much - youngsters that are confronted with the problematic of having either never been cared for and tring to fill the gap…
