Gamers!

Introduction

Keita Amano is a typical high school gamer living out an average student's life. One day, however, he has an unexpected meeting with the cutest girl in school that makes him want to disappear without a trace! This girl, Karen Tendou, is an exemplary student who is proclaimed to be the school's idol. She discovers that Amano is a gamer, and this newfound knowledge incites a passionate desire within her to recruit him into the game club. Upon visiting the club, Amano is forcefully made aware of a side to gaming wildly different than the one he loves so dearly. Tendou's interest in Amano begins shaking up what was once an uneventful life, filling it with spontaneity, awkwardness, and a little bit of mayhem. As a result, every day becomes a comical battle for Amano's sanity as he tries to adapt to these wild, unexpected changes. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Gamers is a very interesting show. I held off watching Gamers because I thought it would just be another romance slop, but I was completely wrong. This anime takes what seems like a simple love story, but all the twists and misunderstandings makes it a blast to watch. What makes Gamers stand out from all the other romance animes I have watched is how self aware the show actually is. It constantly swaps what you expect to happen with something completely different. It plays with tropes and tweaks them to make it unique. The characters in the show are actually funny (one of the only comedies that actually made me laugh) and the way their relationships spiral out of control because of miscommunication can make you want to scream in a pillow, but is entertaining at the same time. Misunderstan…

Gamers was the first property outside of Manga that keep me hooked the whole way through. For a romantic comedy the inconveniences are not only hilarious but also understandable, no boring and awkward mellow drama, just laughs and funny misunderstandings. The pacing is great until the end there's never a moments for these characters and you the audience to take a rest just constant humor which I love. The way the show shows all the perspectives in this messy friend group is also awesome, we aren't just locked into one of their heads, we're in all of them, the build up throughout the first 6 episodes is totally worth it. I will say episode 12 however really sucked, as a person who's not a fan of fan service or the video games industry it really just felt like propaganda and I would recommen…

にゃっはろ〜❤️✨ there is a lot to like about this anime, but i feel like it just fell short of great. the whole gaming shtick gets dropped around episode 3 and the rest of the show is about the love polygon they setup. unlike others, i found the infuriating misunderstandings extremely hilarious. the characters jump to these absurd conclusions and the wacky plans the group gets caught up in trying to expose each other remind me of death note in their complexity which is made even funnier with how low the stakes are. on to the things i didn't like... for a show called "gamers!" i was let down by how little the anime revolved around gaming culture. nothing is worse then when an anime fails to deliver on it's promised premise. while i was pleasantly surprised with turn the show took, i still feel…

This is a weird one. This isn't a show where I'd say the writing was on point or made sense. It's all over the place and the show could have been over way sooner if they just took the opportunity to talk. Instead you have this one character (Tasuku) who keeps arranging things to get some clarity on the situation and it always backfires and makes the misunderstandings worse (except that one time somehow). It also bothers me that this basic dude somehow has multiple girls head over heels for him so fast. Kinda breaks the immersion. It could have happened a bit more gradually. 'Why did you rate it an 8 then?' Because this anime actually gave me more things to think about than most animes. It starts with the theme of 'Casual vs Competitive' and as a more competitive gamer I could understand t…

So I finally got around to watching Gamers! this weekend. I wasn’t expecting much honestly, just wanted something light and fun to help me chill after a long week of work and social burnout. And man, this anime turned out to be exactly that kind of serotonin-filled chaotic rom-com I didn’t know I needed. Let me start by saying this isn’t your usual “gaming anime.” It doesn’t dive deep into game mechanics or esports tournaments or any of that stuff. It’s not No Game No Life or SAO. Instead, it’s more about how people who love games try (and often fail hilariously) to interact with each other in real life—complete with misunderstandings so wild they could fuel 3 seasons of soap operas. Keita Amano is super relatable if you were (or still are) that socially awkward kid who’d rather play PS4…

Sekina Aoi writes better than he’s given credit for but that doesn’t amount to much good. He knows what makes a story work and knows how to avoid pitfalls, and knows some people and the way they speak but he uses bad patterns and bad tropes way too much to be forgiven for it. Student Council’s Discretion is smart and Gamers is smart too but it’s too often too dumb for anyone to care about what’s good. Gamers is trying to be a comedy and the comedy is sometimes funny. It starts with gaming addict Amano about to join the gaming club with the school idol gamer girl Tendou. He refuses last second and I guess this is funny. It’s funny again when it’s Tendou, not Amano, who develops a one-sided crush, and it’s funny seeing her gush over Amano for one scene. It stops being funny once it’s every…

Definitely wouldn't recommend it. The anime is called gamers and they literally never talk about a video game. The story has SO MANY misunderstandings, and the characters constantly make unfounded assumptions, which makes it tedious to watch. Everything's going well until something happens and one of the characters misinterprets everything. That's frustrating. History is actually very predictable because of this. Indeed, there is fan service. Unnecessary close-ups, unnecessary scenes, etc. The anime itself doesn't leave any moral or anything to take away from it, and I could even say that the ending is quite confusing. To be honest, I would have used the time I spent watching this anime to watch another one.

Let's iterate the thesis right now as clear as possible: Imagine a romcom where every character has a heart of gold, but is also convinced that everyone else in the group is secretly plotting against each other, and it is their responsibility to uncover the conspiracy. Few people who watch this show seem to get it, but this is one of the rare gems that displays a cast of stereotypes who grow and change as people over the course of the show, and it makes you love each and every one of them no matter how stupid they seem to be from your all seeing eye. A simple concept of "I like playing video games because it's fun" is only a tool for the author to force these teenagers to confront things about themselves. For example, by the time we're introduced to Uehara, this has already played out a…

After watching several, erm, couple-based romcoms (sounds like a nice term for it), one after the other, I decided to take a small break, by watching a romcom involving a group! It was a smart decision, and I got it easy feeling right at home with this one. Gaming has been my main hobby for over a decade, and only in the last 3 or 4 months I've been watching tons of anime, so this felt like the perfect bridge for me. I did not read or know anything about Gamers! really, only thought it looked interesting enough. My biggest caveat with the whole thing is just how convoluted, or more like ridiculous, things get past about the half point of the season, with plenty of misunderstandings and coincidences all around, all the time. So it didn't feel organic anymore, and the narrative started to…

This show I thought had a lot of potential. I really liked the characters, however, they never flushed anything out. It ended up just getting sad tracked about misunderstandings, which honestly was in good fun, but then you finish the series and realize we wasted actual development for nothing. In the final episode, there is like a 5-minute fan service scene three quarters into it. There were a lot of places this show could've gone, and I was enjoying it. But honestly, in the end, I would not even say it is worth your time. The art style was fine, there was nothing major to complain about, and I liked some of the character design, I thought it was semi-unique. However, they were reused character designs, but they wrote it into the story ig. I wouldn't say the characters were well-rounded…

I can't say much about this anime, the concept is actually good, but the execution is less mature, the story is basic, the conflict is repetitive, like the love monkey of a pubescent boy, the graphics are ordinary, the chemistry of each actor is just not felt, where at the end of each episode there is always a manga panel of a girl who is almost naked, it's a shame the result is like this, I was hoping for a unique concept, maybe it's because I've watched a lot of anime whose problems are too complex, too many good anime so this anime looks bad, maybe it's just my feelings, and what saves me from watching this anime besides the comedy is just ok, well my expectations are high hahaha, hopefully it will be useful for those who read, if there is also, it's not really great but not bad either,…

What can say about !Gamers, this anime at the time left me so hyped.. I mean “an anime about videogames I can't wait to see E-sports” only for it all to end in a spiral of shit which I had to swallow slowly and painfully, excited that, “maybe the next chapter will be better” I kept telling myself while watching for the eleventh time the main characters which have a personality emptier than a fucking black hole. “oh no, that gamer guy I like is dating another girl, I can't take this, I'm going to make a drama that lasts a WHOLE chapter so he'll notice me, how clever of me”. i swear i wanted to stop watching this anime at all cost, but i had faith in my mentor of that time (lolweapon or kalathras as you want to call him) who said that this anime would be about “VIDEO GAMES” which was going…

I am rating it 7 for the comedy. I didn’t like the story much. I felt bad that they totally ignored the subject gaming. The author should’ve gone with comedy instead of love polygon. As for character design I don’t like but I don’t hate it I will rate character design 5/10. I hated the fan service. If you are here for comedy wacth it as you chow down some popcorn. And if time is precious or you are here to watch something of love genre you better look for something else. I have only one thing to say the author didn’t put much effort in character personality building . Very little information on them were shown.

This anime was a slow start, I started months ago. Watched the first episode and it didn’t hook me. But finally picked it back up and I am not disappointed that I did it was a fun time. I love the trop where the cutest girl in school starts to like the quiet shy main character, any anime with that trop I will like most likely. I really enjoyed the English voice actors on this one (the Japanese were good as always) but the main girl voice actress is one of my favs so that helped me enjoy it more. I think I liked the English voice dialog better on this one because the gamer lingo jokes hit so much better in spoken than in subtitle forum. The subtitles just didn't make the jokes sound funny and were more cringe than anything. But overall not bad it was a good time. 7/10

Just bad, really bad. The start was kinda good and even promising, it had potential for sure. I'd say the first 3 episodes were good, then it went downhill exponentially. Also, don't watch if you got interested by the name, this show has close to nothing to do with gaming, it's more like a tool to try making the conversations/storylines less boring, but even at that it failed. Also, it's more like 11 episodes + 1 OVA, 11th episode is the real ending. After the 3rd episode, the whole story was about misunderstandings getting out of hand and turning into a crazy love polygon. Honestly that's all that's happening. I'm fine with a bit of cliché obliviousness, that's needed here and there to enable the story in a shoujo, but this anime criminally overused it. Is that supposed to be its niche?…

I wanted to like this anime because I enjoy watching it talking about games, people passionnate about games and the different playstyles (especially the last episode even though debating about the usefulness of a hobby isn't the right question) but the rest is awful. At first the misunderstandings were a little funny but as the anime story is only misunderstandings between e-ve-ry character it gets annoying very quickly and makes the story very plain and predictable. Add to this an intrusive little sister, a rushed ending, plain romance, lots of plain characters, poor animation, lots of coincidences (only to create more misunderstandings of course) and you have this anime.

I watched Gamers. Here are my thoughts: Gamers has a serious branding issue, in the sense that the content doesn't match its marketing. This show is like 90% relationship drama, and gaming hobbies are just an excuse to facilitate that. If you go into this expecting gaming-related content, you will be disappointed. On the other hand, if you like highschool romance and relationship drama, you may be pleasantly surprised by this show. I, very selectively, can enjoy these things, and so my initial pessimism about this anime was pleasantly defied. However, people looking for a show about the gaming hobby will likely have the opposite viewing experience (and consequently give it a low rating). I should clarify that when I say 'relationship drama' I'm including the many platonic relationships fe…

This was the most boring experience of my life. The anime fails to live up to its potential, delivering a mundane and unremarkable viewing experience. From its lackluster storyline and one-dimensional characters to its inability to evoke genuine emotions and relationships, Gamers! falls short on numerous fronts. While the literal end cards provide a brief respite from the boredom, they cannot salvage the overall lack of substance. Gamers! attempts to combine romance, comedy, and gaming into a cohesive story. However, despite its initial promise, this series falls flat leading to a dull and uninspiring viewing experience. While it may have a few redeeming qualities, it fails to engage and captivate its audience, leaving me longing for more substance. The plot lacks originality and fails to…

Gamers! was an anime that turned out to be not I expected. I was hoping for a competitive gaming environment and how people act in a slice of life style, and instead it ended up being a farce, a comedy in which no-one understands each other's motives, and everyone is after a person but each character lies, omits the truth, or gives no information whatsoever about their aims and wishes. So, instead of a gaming anime, it was like watching a Neil Simon comedy. Now, the main characters were cute, generic, and easy to establish a bond with and even though this anime is not Working! it makes you laugh and makes you wander what is to happen next. All in all, it was entertaining and yet the last episode (12) was not what I had expected. Apart from that, I enjoyed it as it is easy to watch and eas…
