What if life really were a game?
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki is one of those anime that can make you laugh, think, and genuinely reflect on yourself. Beneath its school-life setting lies a surprisingly engaging story about self-improvement, human relationships, and what it means to play the game of life.
What makes this series special is that it doesn't simply tell its protagonist to change; it lets us experience his journey, his struggles, and the uncomfortable realities of interacting with other people.
Tomozaki's growth is satisfying to watch, and the characters bring different perspectives on how people approach life. The dialogue and character interactions make even seemingly ordinary moments interesting, while the underlying themes give the story more depth than you might initi…

I've watched quite a few school romcoms recently, and sometimes they feel like sequels to each other because of how similar they are. The school setting, the introverted protagonist, the outgoing girl who helps him become more social... Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun initially looks like it is going to be another one of those.
The first few episodes certainly didn't help. I didn't particularly like the animation, but is not awful, and Tomozaki's deliberately monotonous voice and attitude made him difficult to follow at first. Hinami's aggressive and somewhat arrogant attitude also didn't make a great first impression on me.
However, once the series establishes its main structure, it becomes much more interesting. The idea of treating life as a video game is probably the strongest part of the se…

have you ever wanted to be bored? well boy do i have the anime for you! packed to the brim with empty air and dead space. you'll be thrilled by the amount of nothing that happens in each episode, and wow, the ending is something to forget!
the show starts with an admittedly interesting premise. the main character is getting help from someone who is the complete opposite of him in real life, while actually being his main competition online. she sets out tasks for him to get better at socializing and generally to just get him to be a good person to be around cause my god is he miserable at the start (this advice is honestly not that bad but it's so broad that it could be boiled down to "talk to people you otherwise wouldn't"). and to communicate these objectives to him, she uses game terms,…

At first glance, Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun looks like your seasonal generic slice-of-life high-school romance. Looking at the art-style and character designs on the poster and reading the synopsis is enough to make the seasoned anime watcher roll their eyes. But there’s actually more to it. Indeed, this anime has two major qualities that put it far above the majority of anime of the same genre:
1) It provides the viewer with practical advice on how to deal with people and overcome social anxiety
2) It takes the concept of “leveling-up” into the domain of social relationships.
The story is about Tomozaki, a loner and video-game addict who’s basically given up of life. That is until he meets Hinami, a girl of his class who offers him to become his coach on how to talk to people, build up se…

Bottom-tier Tomozaki is like a 4/10 for me tbh. The dude talks so much random crap it legit feels like he’s grinding for the ‘Most Annoying Dialogue’ trophy. Every time he starts one of his overthinking speeches I’m just sitting there like bro please… NOT another TED Talk.
And idk why the anime acts like being introverted is some tragic life disease. He’s just quiet. That’s it. Calm down my guy, he’s not cursed.
The whole ‘life is a game’ thing? Sounds like something someone comes up with at 3 AM after losing 10 ranked matches. He treats the world like it’s a tutorial he refuses to skip, and the show expects me to take it seriously.
Character development also feels like watching a PowerPoint someone made on how to not be socially awkward, made by a person who has never left their room s…

From the very first episode, I was hooked. The show grabbed my attention right away, and as it continued, the pacing and story telling only got better. What started as something I thought might be odd or unfamiliar quickly revealed itself to be a truly creative and well thought-out premise.
This show feels like a breath of fresh air compared to all the generic series with flat, “loser” main characters. The character building here is exceptional, with most of the main characters feeling fleshed out and purposeful, with some exceptions I understand due to the limited time here vs the light novel. I initially expected the usual clichés, but instead, the writing surprised me with depth and genuine development. That’s what makes the story so engaging and memorable.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy…

Tomozaki-Kun is a great character anime with natural social development across the season thanks to the warped help from Aoi Hinami. It on top of being a romance (although that's more season 2 & is subtle) is an exploration on changing & improving oneself alongside addressing the masks people develop & wear to improve social standing or to make others happy rather than yourself. Tomozaki's development from being the cocooned reclusive & 'arguably cringe' Tomozaki in the first episode, into the self-reflective, idea challenging & social butterfly (in comparison) by the season's conclusion was fascinating & entertaining.
The show also has interesting side characters who actually assist in the growth of Tomozaki by helping him realise & adjust his new self with positive influence rather than…

This show is actually different.
I've watched many, many anime in the school drama romance comedy and adjacent categories, and this one is truly one of a kind.
It explores interpersonal relationships in a very real and refreshing way.
This is a very character driven show, but the plot/situations through which the characters go were very realistic and interesting, even though they were nothing too special, it is all presented in such a damn good way.
There's basically no cliches to be found in this show, or at least no cliches that make you annoyed and take you out of the experience.
While this IS an anime and you may think the characters are stereotypical, they are never TOO stereotypical, and they get real development, and they never do or say anything that is too unrealistic or out of c…

Alright, with the scores presented, let's now dive into the pros and cons.
This time, we'll start with the positives.
Starting with the characters, they are all somewhat cliché, but I like how their interactions unfold. Moreover, even though they fit certain archetypes, some characters have quirks I appreciate. Take the protagonist, for example: while he’s the quintessential anti-social character, his reactions to the things happening around him are quite amusing, and he makes an effort to engage with them. Another cliché character I liked was Kiku. Beautiful, beautiful Kiku. Despite being the typical shy character, she has a good understanding of people, pursues what she wants, and has aspirations that are pretty uncommon…

"The Guide for Nerds to Become Social" I never thought I’d see that in an anime; it's so funny.
Throughout the main plot, with Hanami trying to show Tomozaki that life is not just about video games, it’s interesting, funny, and cringe (yes) to watch. Every time that guy starts a conversation with others, I think I’m going to die from second-hand embarrassment. To clarify, I don’t see these moments as flaws but rather as moments of discomfort in the development of the main character. I thought it was important to specify this. I recognized myself a little when he made an effort in his tasks, and I couldn’t stop laughing. I’m not going to lie—it comforted me. What I like most about this show is the questioning of one’s own methods of socialization through the character of Mizusawa and the c…

Smash Bros player gets taught how to shower.
All jokes aside, I enjoyed this show quite a bit. I do not think it's amazing or a masterpiece, but it did everything I expect. I got invested in the main characters, I was entertained, I thought the interactions seemed... plausible. I honestly expected a very cliche plot, but I was pleasantly surprised. That's not to say the plot is amazing or anything, but it was fun.
I've seen many reviews saying it's a self insert, I don't understand that. Most of the advice and trials that Tomozaki goes through seem pretty realistic to me. As a small example, it is true that posture and expression are a big part of social interactions. I naturally have a face that looks fed up. I have to consciously raise my eyebrows to make a neutral face. When I am not…

Coming from the perspective of a casual watcher, not some harsh critic, this Anime is pretty decent. Not bad, but not spectacularly amazing.
The Anime has an interesting premise that I empathize with. If I am going to be honest, gamers will connect more with this Anime more than a lot of people because of Empathy. Empathy makes people watch certain things, which makes me watch this. I understood a lot of the terminology and references and I had a lot of "oh, I see" moments. The art, it's not amazing, but it is still good. The artists cared about their work in many of the scenes and did not slack much. Adding subtle hints of shading, sun glare, details that just enhance a normal scene to something better. The character development is mostly realistic, mostly followed what I did growing out…

The best way to describe this would be a diet soda version of "Welcome to the NHK", it's about a social outcast who one day meets a girl that wants to change him for the better. It's not a complete rip off though.
Tomozaki is a bitter person at the start who believes video games are his only friends and he never imagined that anyone in class could ever give a shit about him.
As he rises higher and higher in levels he gains more friends and more confidence, he starts to view the people close to him not always necessarily on bottom or top tiers and despite still staying a gamer, he goes beyond his initial bias and actually pushes forward to also have passions in the real world.
Overall it's really sweet...But...one big problem.
Hinami.
This character, this fucking character, is awful.…

Honestly, a lot better than I expected! I binged through this is in pretty much one sitting because I was bored, and ngl my hopes were On The Ground after the first few episodes; it seemed pretty formulaic, and the setup of girl trying to get guy to get other girl while falling in love with him in the process was very Masamune-kun no Revenge mixed with ideal sweaty gamer dude fantasy. The twist at the end took me by surprise! Turns out Tomozaki actually has beliefs and is actually a sincere, good dude, who doesn’t see women as collectibles, and finally has the guts to say no to his pretty girl teacher. The female characters were written better than I expected as well! I was expecting 2D annoying harem cutouts, but the main girl and Mimimi were actually crafted with care, which I appreciate…

its totally boring and the story can be discribed in 2 lines. It resolved around an idiotic loser and a arrogant girl. I don't understand how did it get a second season. There are many good anime even in romace comedy that i am waiting for s2. I totally wasted my time on this even poem is more resourseful than this shit.the story is too short and what can i say there isn't even romance .
the characters are just so so . story don't have any creativitly its plain. just by showing dressed up and some borig dates with girls and thats it

about an introvert boy that wanna be an extrovert
just that
the idea Is not bad,Is good, can i say very good
but things that i dont like Is how the Storytelling is
like the "game" is just a gimmick
How the MC so naive
the Anime full with Fan-Service
and the comedy that sounds cringe for me but things that good from this Anime Is the life Lessons
like how to make ourselves improve at social skills
so the Light Novel Version is good (i've already read it) because the Light Novel Is all about Social Skills And teach the reader how to improve it
but the Anime version is different Its more focused to school life and Romance
and the story Is not fit to focus on these genres
so i'll not recommended this, but if you'd love fan service and want to kill Your own time just give It a try

This show is a tricky one to review. Pinning down all the heads of this hydra is quite tricky, because I'm not quite sure where to even begin. For a tl;dr just skip to the end, but if you're actually thinking about watching this, I'll lay out the foremost of my thoughts.
I guess the best place to start is with the first episode, because this is absolutely going to be the biggest barrier. This first episode is where I'd say 95% of the people who drop it will drop it. The first episode starts by sucking the skin off Super Smash Bros' dick (Ultimate, specifically) but as cringe as all that is, it's peanuts compared to what comes next. Tomozaki's worldview at this point is that of an insular, jaded loner. He's got nothing going for him but being a smash gremlin and shunning the rest of the wo…

TL;DR: A power fantasy for a smash frog.
Imagine you're in high school.
Imagine you love super smash bros.
Now imagine the coolest guy in school challenges you to smash bros. and all of the hot girls are watching as you 4 stock him repeatedly.
Now imagine the cool guys ex-girlfriend calls you guys cringe for being obsessed with a Nintendo game and then you have a literal trigger warning spasm go off in your brain and you start (not exaggerating) screaming and screeching at her about how she's wrong and that this is the best game of all time then all of the hot girls decide to be your friend.
Don't worry, you don't have to imagine it anymore, because this show does exactly that.
If that's still somehow not your dream self-insert as a smash player don't worry, there's more. When you and a…

Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki
is an odd one... this anime is not really Romance or RomCom. It's more like a geeky-gamer nerd makeover to try-hard life normie because we do not get much romantic (there are some but only a touch on the surface) and the drama part is not love drama or love triangle, it's more about the gamer's social status (look down or bully).
As the title suggested,
MC is a GOD in the game but he is a bottom-tier trash loser in real life, while FMC is a perfectionist GOD-tier both in the game and IRL. They met IRL and FMC decided to help MC makeover. However, they see people as objects (or NPCs) and only talk to them to fulfill objectives or missions. This is fine in early EPs, but it is getting weird and awkward after...
MC talks to a guy to practice, he dates a girl…

This anime is about a gamer boy who plays something that seems like Brawlhalla but with more complicated mechanics. My man never touched grass and has zero social life but is the best player in Japan. He is literally #1 on the leaderboards and is unbeatable. You disrespect him he won't give a s#!t, but if you disrespect his game, he will beat the s#!t out of you. Anyways, the person who is #2 on the leaderboards one day asked him for a meet-up and that person later turned out to be the heroine of his school, the most popular girl. Ah yes, looking at the romance tag people would think that this would be another Most Popular Girl dating the Least Popular Boy anime, but in reality, nothing romantic happened between them and the fandom even started shipping the male MC with a side character. A…
