My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex

My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex

Introduction

Listless geek Mizuto Irido and introverted nerd Yume Ayai seemed like a match made in heaven, connected by their mutual love for literature. Unfortunately, their differences gradually grew, and they separated just after their middle school graduation. But, as if by divine comedy, the two find themselves reunited as step-siblings. A rivalry begins to brew between the former couple, both unwilling to acknowledge the other as the older sibling. In an attempt to "solve" this issue, Mizuto and Yume agree upon a rule: whoever crosses the boundaries of siblinghood norms loses, and the winner will not only be called the older sibling, but also get to make a request. However, now that they live under the same roof, the lingering memories they share start to influence their actions—possibly rekindling the feelings that may not have been fully extinguished in the first place. Plot moves way too fast in the first few episodes and then slows down to a snails pace starting half-way through the series. Sometimes, characters do things for no apparent reason. In fact, I would argue there is no real plot. The male MC gives apathetic vibes, kinda like the MC from Classroom of the Elite, but then sometimes he gets emotional and it becomes hard to piece him together as a real person. The female MC behaves irrationally from time to time, and there are major plot holes too (for instance, the parents didn't know their children were dating at one point, and to further make this story less believable the female MC looks completely different between middle school and high school). That being said, this is an okay show if you are looking to pass some time. Characters aren't c…

6/10- Could have been really good but it isn't. It does have an interesting premise but disappointingly the direction it takes is generic and mediocre. The two main characters are exes- Yume and Irido. Until recently, they were in a relationship but they break up due to several reasons. Now, they find out that their parents are marrying and they are now step siblings. The premise has a lot of potential with good writing and decent scenarios. Their backstory and reasons for breakup are well written but the story doesn't explore its implications and impact on their personalities well. Its stated very openly that they still love each other and will be with each other if not for their issues. Unfortunately, the plot doesn't do much with this. Its enough for a standard romcom, but not eno…

This anime should have an award for such a deceptive title. I mean it is accurate, but most people reading the title would get the impression that it's just another horndog Ecchi anime. But it's not. I mean there are moments that some ecchi things happen, but they're mostly comedic. But honestly it's more than that, it has that ample amount of awkward romance and wholesomeness that it just works. I don't think it's something really deep or whatnot, it's got a few cliches. But the thing about cliches is, they exist because they work. While normally it'd feel corny to even me, somehow this thing in this particular story works for me. I love it. Also can't forget about the characters, so relatable to me as an avid book reader. Specially my man Mizuto, when he says, "The world of fiction was r…

tl;dr: A messy but interesting anime about a very messy but interesting relationship. “Looking back, I can only describe it as a youthful indiscretion, but from my second to third year of middle school, I had what you might call a girlfriend. We can’t go back to how things were. We can’t bring back the happiness we felt back then. And yet… my feeling from that time are still etched into my soul. For now I’m okay with that. We still haven’t fully moved on. But it’s fine. Because I… No, we… have a chance to weave a new tale.” This anime is the very strange tale of Mizuto and Yume, who went out during middle school but broke up at the end of it, only to discover not long after that their respective single parents were getting remarried to each other. Seeing as both of them are good kids tha…

Starts off pretty good. Irido and Yume are exes. However one day they find out that their single parents are getting married to each other. So now Irido and Yume are stepsiblings living in the same house. Irido is the emotionless one, he loves reading books, keeps to himself, and doesnt stress about most things. A really great character. Yume is a former nerd aiming to reinvent herself as the class princess. The two have a love hate relationship but must try to be on their best behavior to keep their parents happy. But at the same time trying to control the fact that the feelings they had for each other is resurfacing. Like i said it starts off pretty strong. But then devolves into boring, dragged-out garbage. Mainly because Yume is such an unlikeable character (◔_◔) And the second ha…

Mamahaha no tsurego ga Motokano datta or My stepmom's daughter Is my ex It was a weird story about a boy whose dad got remarried to his middle school ex mother. The story goes through how they slowly start to get feelings for each other again and how they interact with each other in their daily life. I gave the show 6/10 It had some interesting moments but it didn't show any originality or interesting story building. I also fought because it didn't have an ending it took away the dramatic scene of the last episodes. Romance comedy slice of life

Oddly reminds me of my favorite internet reading material, 177013. Watching this show has me feeling extremely mixed about the entirety of the material. The premise of the it has potential to lead up to something that I would find enjoyable, however, it does fall short throughout when it really mattered. In the center of the show there's an almost unneeded amount of backstory which lead to me becoming fed up at the repetitiveness of the common saying that they always seemed to have during every flashback. It eventually was able to bring it back towards the end which lead to me feeling slightly more satisfied with the ending. Giving just enough leeway for the audience to understand the direction that the story was now taking was a plus. At least the show doesn't end with a stupid cliffhang…

I have a bad habit of seeing a fucked up or retarded premise or title, saying “what the fuck is this?” and then clicking on it. And then at that point I’m enthralled and interested saying “ok what the fuck, where the hell is this going” and when that happens, I’m past the point of no return. I don’t know why I do that but I do it every time making me put shit like this on the list for the whole world to see. I could just leave it off the list, no one will know. In all honesty I’m tempted. But no. I need you to know that shit like this actually gets made. It gets funded and people like it. I mean I watched it so I guess I’m part of the problem but whatever. So, what is my genuine opinion? Not as bad as I thought it would be. Better than Domestic Girlfriend because at least this one doesn't…

One of my favorite Manga to ever exist is Domestic na Kanojo (Domestic Girlfriend). Which had a very similar concept to this anime here, that being former lovers becoming step siblings, the only difference conceptually here there's only one stepsister. Which can be seen as an up or downgrade. My Stepmom's Daughter is my Ex takes this award-winning concept that has for some reason been used twice and offers a much more lighthearted and wholesome story than that of its counterpart. Which at the risk of sounding perverted, I would say is not as good of a way of writing this dynamic. The reason being, at its core, this still absolutely only exists because of an author's sick fantasy. It's quite hard to sell this as some cutesy wholesome relationship dynamic. It's much more of a comedy as wel…

Looking back, I can only describe it as youthful indiscretion. But the summer between undegrad and grad school, I watched what you might call a dumpster fire. Every few months, I get an urge to randomly select and then watch a show that I am squarely outside of the target audience for and that I don't particularly expect to enjoy. I like to think that it's a good way to keep my finger on the pulse of artistic movements outside of my otherwise-narrow bubble and, in all honesty, I sometimes come away quite surprised. There are three or four shows like this that I've seen this year alone that really blew me away; these positive experiences always end up leaving me encouraged to keep expanding my taste and trying new things. They push me to keep doing what I'm doing! My Stepmom's Daughter Is…

Would be an easy 9/10 if one of our main characters wasn't an absolute edgelord, who gets the hot other main character crazy about him for no apparent reason. Yume is great as a co-main character along with the other side characters (besides Isana...). Although saying that, they are under utilized. Each has an episode or two to flesh them out which is a great shame, since they make the plot more interesting (again, besides Isana...). The art style and animation are both fantastic, and the overall theme and plot points are interesting, even with our main character making a chunk of it fall flat.

One of the best romance anime I've watched, right below kaguya sama and bunnygirl senpai. The reason the rating is low is because of the title.( My stepmoms daughter is my ex) note: it doesn't have to do with the stepmom and step sister things you all watched on PH. In fact it doesn't have as much fan service as some other romance anime. The story which is basically the title is a 7/10 for its originality. The character development is a basic key in a romance story so its guaranteed to be good. And once again if it wasn't for all the internet clowns hating on everything and the countless memes the ratings would have been a lot higher.

I almost gave this one up during the first episode, but I am glad I stuck with it. The first episode didn't have the charm of the subsequent episodes, so just keep in mind that it quickly gets better. It had some funny moments, and I have to say that I enjoyed the story overall. I found that I could relate to the male protagonist, though the internal dialogue was far too mature for someone of that age. Honestly, I say give this one a try if you like a calm, story-driven anime that has its humorous and poignant moments.

My Stepmother’s Daughter is my Ex a feel good romance anime about two characters, Mizuto and Yume, who had been in a relationship during their last year of middle school but broke up. Before starting high school, their parents had gotten remarried, which so happened to be to each other’s parent! This puts the two former middle school sweethearts in a situation where they are trying to please their parents and be good step siblings, while also hiding their previous relationship. This creates very interesting situations for the two, like taking challenges to each other for who slips up in front of their parents, keeping their distance from each other at school, and so forth. The anime does a pretty alright job of creating a very believable story and keeps the pace very down to earth which is…

Good female charaters. They are all cute and full as a character. But, except for funny Kogure, which is humorous and has brought me the majority laughter of the whole show, the main male protagonist is, to be fair and to be respectful, the worst thing next to poop. So, since we are all able to guess the plot progresion of this show from its title, a foreseeable story and a shitty male protagonist would only leave us no choice but to turn off our brains and enjoy those cute female characters. That's why I gave this show still point 8. Because I'm thinking with down there and fond of the girls. Lmao~

ok, this is my 2nd times for review first i am sorry if i have to say english bad, but i will share it about my opinion this is my first time, i watched again and again I love the main characters in this series, playing with emotions especially in eps 9-12. Mizuto is similar to myself maybe that's also why I enjoy this series over and over again. yume as a character who is jealous of other women but still covering it up finally ventured to try to lure mizuto back once again. The language game given is quite interesting especially after seeing eps 10 about reading the Siberian girl's book, I know why mizuto and yume seem to be attracted to each other and will not be separated at least for what is depicted in this series. I give this series a 10/10 maybe there are many more interesting…

This show should be called “Cliché the animation”. There isn’t a single original thought in all 12 episodes. Everything You see, You’ve seen somewhere else and done better (I hope). You have: - Antisocial protagonist - A little less antisocial, shy second protagonist who pretends to be “normal” - Lazy fanservice - Romanticisation of first love - Big chested love rival - Shitty extroverted “best friend” (I use this term extremely loosely in this case) - Pseudo tragic backstory Nothing really wrong with that per se, most rom-coms are like that, the problem is the execution and the main flaw are the main characters. Both are extremely boring and, despite what the show is trying to convince You, one dimensional… ok… sometimes it’s 1,5 dimension. And by sometimes I mean like 5 minutes in one…

Not funny enough for a comedy; not romantic enough for a romance. My Step Mom’s Daughter is my Ex doesn’t live up to the intrigue of the title. Mizuto and Yume are generic and archetypical introvert nerds. Overall, they’re likable but don’t really have a lot of depth to them. The side characters are interesting but none of them featured enough to develop more. The plot is all over the place. The main plot and sub plots basically all follow the same outline with similar conflicts and resolutions. The fan-service-heavy first few episodes were funny. It would’ve been nice to see that silly nonsense continue.

What happens when a relationship doesn't work out? In most romantic anime we are only shown the start of a realtionship: a couple of young people meet, have some misadventures or misunderstandings, develop feelings for each other, confess, result happiness. But given that these are usually teenagers with little experience and only budding self-knowledge, how likely is it that that happiness will last? This anime explores what happens when a teen romance does not work out and its aftermath. The lead characters were too young and too inexperienced and ended up hurting themselves and each other. Normally the result would be for them to drift apart, never really speaking again and carrying their regrets alone. This is where the framing device comes in. Having them suddenly become step siblin…

This is a very chill, soft comedy romance. I enjoyed it very much! Story 6/10 Interesting and original setting. Good enough to keep you interested, but it's not the strongest aspect of this anime. Art 8/10 Very decent graphics. The characters are very appealing, interesting and cute. Sound 6/10 The music is standard but not bad. Characters 9/10 It's an aspect in which this anime shines the most. I started to love the characters from the very beginning. I wish we would see more romance anime with such a lovable cast! Enjoyment 9/10 It was a very fun experience. I almost watched the whole season in one sitting! It's a light novel adaptation and it shows in its slower pace, which is very fitting! I strongly recommend watching!
