Don’t expect a rom-com because this anime focuses more on comedy than romance. The humor is random and often takes the spotlight over the story. The plot lacks real progression, which might annoy some viewers since many episodes feel like a collection of random skits. Still, it’s worth watching and if you want a more conclusive romance, you can read the latter part of the manga.
The characters are funny and likable. Harima isn’t your typical delinquent type, he actually has depth and personality, making him one of the most interesting parts of the show. Tenma, the female protagonist, is the funniest girl character with her childlike and innocent attitude that makes every scene she’s in enjoyable. Karasuma, her mysterious love interest, also brings a unique kind of humor that adds to the s…

Before I start this review, let me give you and everybody else interested in watching this show in general a fair warning, because there's a bit of confusion around it and clearing things up could help you a bit when deciding what to expect from this series: School Rumble is NOT a romance anime, and you shouldn't treat it like so.
Sure, there might be some more "spicy" moments between Harima, Tenma, Karasuma or Eri and vice-versa, but School Rumble is first and foremost a comedic series and that takes precedence over any and all romantic development that might present itself. Not to say there are any, of course, but don't go expecting to see Harima ending with Tenma, Yakumo or Eri and Tenma herself with Karasuma because it won't happen; I would go even further and say that for the show to…

I didn't have much expectation for this anime. I was expecting a romance slice of life full of boring filler and cliches.
But this is actually one of the best comedy romance slice of life anime I've ever seen. Im talking 9/10.
Its a funny anime about love triangles and unrequited love.
Harima Kenji the super tough school delinquent is in love with the super cute and childish Tenma Tsukamoto.
But Tenma is in love with the always stone-faced Ouji Karasuma.
And the love triangles dont stop there. There are many more supporting characters also dealing with their own love problems.
But thankfully this is a comedy. The anime is not here to try to depress you, instead it has fun with its setup. With crazy hijinks and misunderstandings.
However it is still an endearing story.
All the charac…

As with all similar gag humor or just Japanese anime humor in general very much hit and miss for me. Theres some sketches and scene that are really fun. Some not fully hitting the mark but still enjoyable enough. Then stuff that are just so far away from being fun it feels like a waste of time. School rumbles is a bit to long also for not hitting the mark enough times aswell as getting a bit repetetive for 26 episodes focusing on the same stuff to often. I havent watched that many shows in the genre as it isnt really what i usually watch. But Nichijou and Azumanga was far superior i think. Also Asobase since it was shorter and changed its themes more often making it feel less repetetive. I did like the art in aforementioned shows alot more also.
I might come of sounding very negative. Bu…

At the time of writing this, School Rumble scores 7.89 which is rather decent but extremely underrated. For a comedy anime, this series is a masterpiece from the characters, theme, songs, animation and the lines are so punchy. Let's get some gist of the story.
A delinquent high school student named Harima openly gets into fights with other student but secretly has a massive crush on a girl in his class. She is slow-witted and dense, but fortunately has 3 pretty friends who are, fortunately, have higher IQ. The problem is, this girl, Tenma, likes the class nerd.
As the story unfolds, Harima would do all sorts of action to impress Tenma while Tenma is trying to get the nerd to notice her. While Tenma's attraction to the nerd is pretty well known, hardly anyone knows about Harima's crush.…

School Rumble, it was said that this was somewhat the inspiration behind Kaguya-Sama. I can see that. What I did not expect was how goddamn good it was going to be.
Look everyone that I know knows that I love a good comedy. The dubbed comedy in this? Out of this world.
Comedy is always subjective, so it cannot always be said my humor will taste the same as yours. What I can guarantee though is you will laugh at this show!
This is up there, if not better than the likes of Nichijou and Danshi Kokose Nichijou. This had the same gag-humor style of SKET-Dance and Gintama.
The Story:
It is about a gangster named Harima who likes a girl called Tenma. What unfolds is an insanely hilarious story. Tenma lokes this other guy, and while Harima likes Tenma Harima is always roped into some other love…

The show follows Class 2-C, a group of high school students struggling with unrequited love. Many of them are too afraid to confess their feelings to their crushes, which causes problems. The main characters are Tenma, who is infatuated with Karasuma, and Kenji Harima, a tough guy who returned to school because of his obsession with Tenma. The show has a large cast of secondary characters, but they are easy to keep track of. Despite being secondary characters, they appear in most episodes and are all enjoyable to watch.
The characters are always jumping to conclusions about who likes whom, leading to amusing confrontations. While some of their activities are exaggerated, most are believable. The show might appeal to both genders, as it has romantic elements that appeal to girls. Still, it…

Teen school life is a rumbling period of life and this premise is perfectly portrayed in the show, hence we got School Rumble.
Story slowly progresses and more characters with relevancy are introduced over time. Relationships between characters develop only slightly and are only of small focus; though the main delinquent hero, Harima, gets development throughout the whole show and befriends some classmates. From a notorious gangster, he actually turns out to be very fine guy to be around.
All the story progress and character interactions are nice, but not the priority of the show. The main selling point is comedy and funny gags. With only a few dull moments, the show is successful in being funny – gags, jokes, funny reactions, situational humor…
Those dull moments include, but not limite…

School Rumble
A surprising comedy that has unfortunately been forgotten and hardly anyone talks about it anymore.
School Rumble" is a collection of generic characters who decorate their lives at school with many bizarre events, romances, and huge misunderstandings.
And this is exactly something the author has been relatively good at. Giving new air to worn-out and generic characters. Using old familiar scenarios and creating something new with his humor.
At first, I felt that the anime would not be convincing in the long run, since it was carried only by Harima, Tenma, and Karasuma. Only these 3 provided wit and atmosphere while the rest failed. But the others were well-integrated by later episodes, giving them more personality and character. Whether through humorous plots or actu…

School rumble
It is a comedy / school anime, without a deep story that tells us the misadventures in comedy form of Harima Kenji who has a deep love for Tsukamoto Tenma that will lead him to do many things to declare that love, along with some of the stories of her girlfriends / friends always about love relationships.
Harima Kenji is a somewhat predictable and unremarkable character, he has an older sister who is a teacher at his institute, Harima tries hard for anything and it cannot be understood what he does even if he looks like a criminal, which in fact he is until one day he meets Tenma who changed his lonely way of thinking and now tries to declare his love.
Tsukamoto Tenma is a very silly and jovial character who has a younger sister who…

The voice actors really carry this series with such a focus on characters even the Dub is very well made and I usually don't care for that side. The characters have a lot of life in this series and every episode will be something new and interesting
The only downside is that the romance is used more for comedy then character progression. Any tension it builds up is knocked down just as fast which isn't a bad thing for an anime that isn't taking itself seriously and aiming for that. This is a really fun anime to just throw up and watch and I believe its one of those solid introduction anime as well~

***This is a review for both Seasons 1 and 2.
Story (8):
This show took me by surprise. I was looking for an older comedy anime, browsing endlessly through the comedy wormhole and something about the art and design of this show caught my eye. So I sat down, watched episode 1 and continued. By the time I hit episode 3, I just wanted to watch more and more. The story comes across as maybe a bit simple. Just a typical love story with a boy who has a crush and is in love with a girl who doesn't share those feelings. Harima continuously tries again and again to express himself and confess to Tenma how he feels, but things always manage to stop him from doing so. While the story isn't groundbreaking by any means, the show manages to keep you invested with the absolute spot on comedy and chara…

Review in ENGLISH AND SPANISH (original)
This is a review of both seasons of School Rumble. To tell the truth, it is an anime that I have liked for many years, and one of the first I saw. I decided to watch it again and do a review because this is an anime that I consider pure comedy, without the need to make obscene jokes like Konosuba does, for example.
Story 15 / 20
In an anime that tries to make people laugh, the ridiculousness that occurs during the story should not be taken into account, since it is the essence of the series, a comedy. In itself, the anime deals with the love problems and comic situations of an entire group of students, so a very great advance is not expected in terms of the events of the story, unless it is directly spoken of romance. In this case, the romantic pl…

The description on MAL isn’t very good, so I kinda went into this anime expecting something different. I thought this anime was about a girl and a delinquent who loved each other, but couldn’t confess. Instead, it’s basically an anime about love triangles, as the first instance is the aforementioned girl falling for someone else, then the delinquent falling for her. From there, a good chunk of the rest of the characters have their own crushes and love triangles that sometimes even get mixed together. It even starts leaving the main girl and her crush behind to explore all the other ones (which is good because I was starting to get fatigue from them after watching Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun not too long ago).
Combined with all the love in the air is all of the characters doing whacky things…

SUMMARY
School Rumble primarily follows the stories of Tenma Tsukamoto, a regular high-school girl, and Kenji Harima, a notorious delinquent, as they each try to confess their love for their respective crushes, Oji Karasuma for Tenma, and Tenma for Harima. Tenma and Kenji each face their share of hardships and highlights in their love quests.
A wide cast of friends, rivals, and other side characters bring these love stories into a living breathing world in this high school.
REVIEW
Everything that is said from this point on is completely subjective; I state this because School rumble is by far my favorite anime of all time. This sentiment my not resonate with everyone, and I would certainly agree that School Rumble is probably not the best anime ever made; but to me it holds a special…

School Rumble is Azumanga Daioh + Toradora!
The plot mostly revolves around the main characters Harima and Tenma. Harima crushes on Tenma and Tenma crushes on another classmate. The story follows them each in their exploits as they attempt to confess their feelings, often ending up in misunderstandings or situations that prevent them from doing so. The first and second seasons have a very similar feel, however the OVA takes a massive shift and the ending leaves a lot to be desired, so fair warning if you are about to spend the time watching the entirety of this series.
The animation is really decent for 2004. Like really decent.
The visual gags were enough to get me to chuckle occasionally and the art style blends and shifts depending on the type of humor it's trying to get across.
The…

School rumble is my favorite show of all time. Harima is the greatest character of ANY anime and the more you watch the show, the more you will love all the characters in it. Harima's shenanigans are some of the funniest I have ever seen. ( I HAVE REWATCHED THE SHOW LIKE 4 TIMES SO YOU CAN ONLY GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS).
The story gets cut off and never finishes which really sucks because I had a blast watching this show. However, this kind of works because the storyline is just a bunch of random events mixed with some episodes increasing in intensity scattered throughout the show.
The romance side makes you want to root for all the characters. They are all so different but have the ability to mesh so well. To this day I am not sure who I ship Harima with.

Anyone who doesnt give this anime a solid [10] is lying to themselves, to the great Kami san, and to others that haven't seen this show.
This show is the definition of INTENSITY. The main character, Harima is basically all of us when we had to deal with our first crush.
Yes this anime is about school life, yes there is romance in the plot, no it is not only for those that watch Romance anime. How dare you low life humans give this masterpiece a 1 in the reviews. May the great fisherman captain leave you to the mercy of the ocean.
Anyway, the ONLY flaw in this anime adaptation is that there are only 2 seasons and an OVA that was suppose to be the 3rd season. Thats it. You cant honestly say jack about the lovable characters, the well crafted story progression, or the insanely clever jokes…

We all might yearn for our adolescence to be something not mundane, hope to encounter an ideally torrid romance in such a riotous period, and expect for certain occurrences unforeseen, whereas they are not untoward, when we were very young.”Adolescence is the period you should go through without regret, and go to great lengths to make it impeccable”that is the propaganda usually coming from movies, books, educators, etc. But the reality always strikes a discord in stark contrast to what we thought to be. Only if you have undergone or are undergoing adolescence halfway will you realize that our adolescence is something studded with blemishes and potholes, bedecked with jagged rocks and even treacherous shoals, which you can’t always sail through smoothly,to the extent that sometimes you might think yo…

If you've seen a romantic comedy, you could say you have seen them all. Most romcoms tend to be repetitive, to the point where you can't tell them apart. Most of them have the same plot, and overuse the feared, predictable love triangle and misunderstandings to create conflict and drama.
That's where School Rumble says: "fuck you".
This series is unlike any romcom I have ever watched. I could go as far as calling it a romantic comedy deconstruction, since it takes the concept of a romcom, smashes it into pieces and twists it. Basically, School Rumble is to romcoms what Gintama is to shounen series.
The love triangles and misunderstandings, which are sources of drama and conflict in romcoms, have a new purpose in School Rumble: to create laughter. It's so hilarious to see characters get…
