Ouran High School Host Club is one of those anime that immediately reminds me that I'm getting old because I watched it when it was actually airing. And somehow, after all these years, I still love this ridiculous reverse harem just as much.
It's sweet, funny, completely over the top, and honestly doesn't need to take itself too seriously to be entertaining. The entire concept is absurd, the situations get progressively more ridiculous, and yet I found myself loving every single one of these idiots.
What I enjoy the most is probably the characters. Every member of the Host Club has such a distinct personality that it's impossible not to have a favorite... until five minutes later, when another one does something cute and suddenly you're questioning your entire ranking.
And then there's the…

This anime is so stupid and I utterly adore it. With its themes of cross dressing and queerness, it has both aged horribly and is incredibly ahead of its time. I'm not usually a fan of romance anime, finding it very forced and preferring romance that blooms naturally in other genres, but this surprisingly hooked me in. There's definitely some parts I don't like (the twincest even if its self aware, the jokes that are more akin to sexual harassment, and occasionally the writing feels a little forced) but overall if you're down for a good comedy with a hint of cheesy romance this is perfect for you!

Binged this series in a week flat - it’s an easy and fun watch as a short (26 episode) super silly gag comedy slice of life high school romance series.
Plot is pretty loose and unserious - it’s a comedy based around a host club at a high school, so the series follows the members’ activities in and out of school, and explores their respective lore and dreams. The humor is very silly, even a bit farfetched at times where most anything is fair game to be the butt of the joke - lots of gags surrounding gender identity and performance, sexuality, class struggles/differences, etc. Characters are relatable and have compelling traits and struggles. The art is simple but in such a cute and whimsical style - exaggerated expressions and comedic art style changes are some of my favorite aspects visua…

One of the best pieces of literature out there.
It worries me a little to see the new generation of teenagers seeing this anime as "old" or "outdated", when the animation is a masterpiece. Not many series can pull off the amount of detail that this show bestows, especially when you compare it to the animation of the 2020's these days (unfortunately, since we're in an animation crisis).
Not only is the animation great, but also the story and the voice acting. It might be one of the best dubs out there, and humor is hard to nail.
I know we won't ever get a season 2, and I can see why. Imagine drawing that many roses. Like, that would be crazy.
I treasure this series so much and watch it whenever I'm not feeling well.
If anyone is looking for a great, hilarious, heart-warming series…

💗 Haruhi ‘s Odyssey 🍰 The Myth Of The Magic Music Room's Muse 💖 °8.5° °Excellent° 💯%🔍 plot points discussed but no big spoilers
“I can't believe it's been 10 years since you went to Heaven, Mom.” Why are there no quiet rooms in this entire school❕❔ Fujioka Haruhi is like Greta Garbo; Haruhi just wants to be alone.
Haruhi trudges up a flight (or 3) of stairs and opens the door to a quiet room! So, she thinks, but she quickly realizes: No! It's not! It's set up for tea. Mythically handsome young men are there. It's a Host Club where young, mega rich, handsome men “with too much time on their hands” entertain beautiful nauseatingly rich young women “also with too much time on their hands.” Haruhi's so startled she accidentally knocks over a vase. That Épergne was not a knock-off. Alwa…

I LOVED WATCHING THIS ANIME!
Every character had a different personality which gave different experiences and entertainment. At start of this anime after seeing Hikaru and Kaoru it felt weird but they came out as the sweetest characters of this anime both were absolute cuties. The last 3 episodes were very emotional, after watching the whole anime i felt so overwhelmed because i liked this anime so much. I would highly recommend this anime to anyone who is going for a slice of comedy and romance. The creativity in each and and every episode made it so entertaining. I love you Tamaki senpai and Mori senpai (this is not a love confession).
Review readers should definitely watch this if they like the genre of this anime.
A great anime with a very interesting story gonna read the manga now.

I’ve been seeing this anime all over my feed for a long time, and I finally gave in and started watching it. Tbh, I’m not a fan of this kind of animation style—it looks a bit outdated to me. But I understand that this is an old, maybe even classic anime, so I tried to keep an open mind.
Watching it felt like riding a roller coaster. At the beginning, I was enjoying it a lot, but there were also moments where my interest dropped. Sometimes it felt a bit repetitive or too dramatic, but somehow, I would still find myself enjoying it again. It’s that kind of show that brings mixed emotions, but in a good way.
One of the characters I really liked was Tamaki. He’s dramatic, emotional, and a little over-the-top, but that’s w…

*Brief Review-Reflections*
~~
*Ouran* serves episodic entertainment without running out of ingredients for inventively humoring its watchers. It certainly excels in exhibiting the *shoujo fluff* and other *shoujo*-related/-adjacent aspects such as representation of the gender identity spectrum, male sensitivity and romantically effective charm, and lanky figures across the board to fill the screen with a forest of thin, bickering trees (although not to completely limit the series and the demographic itself to these traits at all).
To talk about its iconic status, it is no surprise that it remains framed within the hall of fame largely due to the magnetic chemistry potently utilized for the several character dynamics in play, such that every actor and actress seamlessly harmonizes with o…

I don’t know how to explain this show without sounding a little too silly, but Ouran High School Host Club just makes me feel better. Like, I’ll put it on when I’m sad or when everything’s heavy, and within ten minutes, I’m weirdly okay again. It has that kind of energy gentle chaos with a warm center.
The setup is definitely over-the-top. Rich school, fancy club, flower petals exploding for no reason. But instead of making it unbearable or cringey, the show kind of laughs with you the whole time. It knows it’s being dramatic. It leans into it. And the characters...ugh. They’re ridiculous, but I love them. Even the ones I thought I’d hate somehow became comforting. They all get their little arcs, their little emotional moments, and somehow they feel… real? Or at least like people you coul…

Probably one of the most iconic (if not important) animes ever made.Even despite it's occasional cheesy or not-so-well-aged moments it still finds a specific place in my and many other's heart. Nothing beats being 14 and watching this. Peak
Not everyone may feel this way obviously but i think it did a lot to shape a lot of young peoples journey to self discovery and thats why it holds such a strong spots among the classics.
The show is primarily character based since the plot isnt the highlighted focus, its more so a device that leads to different skits and the characters interacting. Even from the perspective of someone who doesnt favour romance all that much the hijinks the characters get up to can still be captivating and you can yourself really engaged in the series finale. Despite th…

Oh, Ouran High School Host Club, how you own my soul.
It could be the nostalgia talking, but I adore this show so much. I always end up coming back to it, every time I have another "anime resurgence" and fall back into this community, and even when I'm not touching anime with a 10-foot pole, OHSHC has always been the exception. I have many fond memories of talking about this show with my future-best friend who doesn't watch anime but watched it on ABC3 back when we were in year 7, downloading it to watch on my old beat-up MacBook during a road trip in 2019, forcing my friends to watch an episode during our schoolies (😭), and writing this review now as a 20-year-old. Unfortunately, I think OHSHC is here to stay for me, so I greatly recommend it for anyone looking for a good time with humo…

I enjoy Ouran Host Club, and I would consider it an anime that has so much meaning, fun, and rewatchability that I could watch it again if the time came. Overall, the character growth, comedic cliches, exaggerated effect and drama (almost like a soap opera!) makes this show so much fun to watch and enjoy. It's as if the show is adapting itself and its plot based on how the characters act and behave; having a more serious tone when necessary, or just throwing in some lighthearted fun and excitement. This anime does such a fantastic job of revealing how characters can change and grow when faced with a new situation, or with someone that can change their hearts, or minds, the greatest example being the Hitachin brothers. The way that this anime plays out, with so much visual effect for Tamaki…

I can think of few ways in which the story this series tries to tell could be told with more grace and warmth. There are few series to which I return as frequently as I do Ouran, with each watch still feeling as fresh and special as the first time I watched it as a child back in 2007.
From its iconic soundtrack to its aesthetic-defining use of regal opulence, Ouran's blend of light-hearted tongue-in-cheek self parody and earnestly touching storytelling has made it one of the clear standard-setters of the mid-2000s digipaint era.
The characters are unique and memorable, the comedy still hits in its own goofy way, the OST and presentation are immaculate, and if anyone were to ask for a good first anime experience, especially for those that already love European romance literature and have…

IT DESERVED A SECOND SEASON.
a shoujo classiic thats more of a comedy than a romance and leaves u wanting more, and Not just bc of nostalgia
i mean,,, yeah some tropes and jokes are outdated and rightfully deserving of its criticisms, but other than that its really just charming as hell! (tho,,, im ngl i did audibly cringe at some parts like everytime the twincest gag was being played out like EUGHH)
kasanoda is literally my fav character, like i never actually finished the anime when i was younger, i only read the manga and then watched the other adaptations sparingly but i always remembered and Knew kasanoda was my fav AND I DEFINITELY STILL HAVE SUCH A FONDNESS FOR HIM IN THIS REWATCH!!!!!! i needed more of him tbh
yknow who i also need more of? RENGE. dude shes so fucking funny esp t…

One of my favourite anime.
Ouran Highschool Host Club is one of my favourite anime of all time. Overall it is about a group of high schoolers who start a host club at their extremely prestigious (and rich/expensive) Highschool. All of the club members come from extremely privileged backgrounds, apart from one Haruhi Fujioka. Haruhi stumbled into the host club one day knocking down a vase worth ¥3.000.000(€18.312), to repay her debt she must join the host club and earn clients, one problem she’s a girl. The series follows the group throughout different funny and entertaining adventures and situations.
Story 9/10
There is an overarching plot that doesn’t get lost even though some episodes have different themes or settings wich is nice as it helps it feel like a solid story but is still f…

Ouran High School Host Club is very well-rounded.
The storyline is simple, episodic SOL with heavy emphasis on comedy. The romance is mild: it’s alluded to, but nothing concrete develops. For anyone who wants heavier romance, I suggest you read the manga - they directly address romance in the final few volumes. Back to the anime, there are certain character dynamics and interactions that may feel uncomfortable, but at the end of the day, they’re left intentionally vague and are mostly for comedic effect. As this anime is a SOL, there is no real plot. Each episode is basically the same format - Host Club does outrageous things because they’re so filthy rich. It doesn’t get boring, though, and that’s all I’m looking for.
The writing makes an attempt to flesh out the main characters (they s…

One of the worst sins a work of parody can commit is to use the guise of “parody” as an excuse to earnestly do the thing they’re “parodying” and presume self-awareness excuses it from any criticism. This presumption is very false, yet it’s one that Ouran High School Host Club subscribes to.
All things considered, the premise of OHSHC is both the perfect setup for not only the reverse harem genre but especially a parody of it: Our female lead, Haruhi, is a poor girl on scholarship who must crossdress as a male to work at a very rich host club she has found herself indebted to. Being in a host club, this means she is not just surrounded by pretty boys, but specifically by pretty boys who make themself into a certain “archetypes” that they can sell to women—literally a pre-made reverse harem…

This show infuriates me and gets under my skin in such a unique way, yet I still very much enjoyed it. It’s so annoying to watch Haruhi’s very obvious nonbinary identity get disrespected and ignored (I swear Ranka gets more respect). YES I know it’s 2006 YES I know this. Anyway. The show finally started to get good for me in like the FINAL THIRD. And then apparently the last two episodes aren’t canon, but in the manga the character development continues on. I have a love hate relationship with this show, but it was still enjoyable (except a few episodes that made me cringe). Definitely interested in reading the manga. Also I have to be the only person on Earth who isn’t mad The Thing didn’t happen in the final episode. I think it’s just fuckin fine how it is thank you very much.

I first watched Ouran when I was a full fledged middle school weeb, completely unaware that the characters were being played up for their tropes. Now that I have graduated high school I still enjoy this anime for not only the nostalgia it gives as a staple of the 2000s, but also for the emotional bond one will form with each of the characters. They may all be blissfully trope-y, but don't let that put you off; this anime is NOT a parody, it is a homage which builds the characters from the ground up.
Ouran is equal parts hilarious, sad, heartwarming and will have you routing for each of the characters in their pursuit for love. If you have a soft spot for unapologetically 2000s romcom shojo anime then Ouran should definitely be on your watchlist.

I rewatched Ouran for the first time in at least 10 years, the last time I watched it I was still in college, and my first time watching it I was in middle school. All three times I enjoyed it greatly, all because of mainly the same reason: this show is entertaining as fuck.
As the times have changed and some topics have evolved, but also people have gained a bit too much sensibilities, I’m not surprised of seeing this show marked as homo/transphobic. I see it as a product of its time and coming out of a very conservative country that still in 2024 hasn’t recognized same sex marriage. It indeed has some ignorant comments or insensitive jokes but tbh, is not so bad and judging it by today’s standards is honestly stupid.
If we add to all of this that this anime is mostly a comedy more tha…
