I really liked this series, I haven't felt this way about an anime for years! It has the same vibes as skip beat and daddy long legs and was surprisingly entertaining. I enjoyed watching most of the plays in the anime as well and I felt that most of the characters had actual personalities. I have to say the ending (only the last two episodes to be precise) was not as good as the rest of the series and also the romance plotline really toed the line with the age gap, which is why I didn't give it a 10/10. I wish I could find an anime with the same exact vibes as this but with a satisfying ending.

glass mask. the invisible mask an actor puts on before standing on stage. a mask that can easily shatter and cannot be worn by just anyone. the mask of so many different people, so many different lives. this anime portrays acting so well and it was really enjoyable to watch how the characters portray their acting. maya, our main character, is a very passionate and driven girl when in comes to her only interest; acting. she is portrayed as a girl who is not good at anything but acting. despite the people around her bringing her down, her mother, her acquaintances, and the general lack of faith people have of her dream, she proves them wrong and continues to pursue the one thing that genuinely makes her feel alive. for this girl, being on stage is her life. it's like the moment she was born…

This anime can be enjoyed by anyone, as it does have similar patterns to most anime. However, it is true that the central theme and the various climaxes it presents are something so specific that the "general" anime audience, especially those who prefer shonen genre, may find it boring and not get past half an episode. I don't blame them, if they're looking for a shonen, they won't find it here, even though it has all the elements of self-improvement and character evolution.
The main characters, the ones we see in the poster image, have a development and depth that is more than notable. Even the secondary characters are more than just fulfilling their roles. They all have clear motives that drive and evolve the plot very effectively. It is true that there are moments of "coincidences," ev…

It was pretty good, It doesn’t have an ending a fully over and done with ending, but it’s one of the few out there that includes acting. It’s a unique story, I can’t really compare it to anything else.
I do recommend it, but there is an age gap, but nothing really develops until… anyways it is a bit older so don’t hate on the art, and especially in the wolf scene I know it was supposed to be serious but you’ll understand if you watch that far. The characters develop well they do change and that’s pretty cool I guess.

This is a review taking into consideration that I've watched the OG anime from 1984. Expect some trivia! I won't spoil anything that wasn't shown in the 1984 OG. In case you want to know at what point the new content starts for those that have watched the OG, you can start watching this on the 2nd half of the 24th episode, onwards.
Visuals:
1) visuals aren't faithful to the manga (like the OG series was) but I like how they are much more colorful
2) recycled animation
3) dislike the "mask visuals" that never existed in any of the previous adaptations
Sound:
1) Not a fan of recasting unless because of death, retirement or illness. This is the 2nd recast of the entire cast
2) However, Maya's voice actress gives her a very versatile voice range, which gives more credibility to the chara…

Glass Mask dives into the world of theater and acting as we watch two rivals push each other further and further into not only stardom, but becoming masters of their craft.
And that rivalry is what I consider the main strength of this 2005 adaptation of a classic shoujo work. Maya, our main character, is set against Ayumi Himekawa. Ayumi is the daughter of a famous actress and comes from great wealth.
In most anime, you probably already know this character and what she’ll do. But Ayumi's character is done brilliantly! Never does she tear down Maya for coming from a poorer background or from lacking the same acting resources she has. Most of the anime, Ayumi is in awe of Maya’s raw talent and even gets a little jealous. The way Ayumi and Maya uplift and encourage each other despite being…

Hi My Name is Runes. I am doing this review of an semi old anime. No matter how many times I watch this If still Hit right in the Feeling. I am also a guy and I don't Care If Guys think I am Lame or people thing I am weird but I've watch the main:
Character Kitajima, Maya: Is a girl who has feeling and ambitions of being onstage it change her families situation and want sake off the stigma that she is worthless and useless and want to prove she is someone no matter the hard ships and humiliations she must endure; to make it to the top and prove she was unique in some way and how she loves and is drawn to the Stage.
One more thing to add Pay attention to how well the Sounds are done. I don't think you can find many with such good time and verity it impresses me.
I would Recommend that e…

Oh god... what a rollercoaster. Being a fan of older anime I'm quite happy I came across Glass Mask and decided to give it a try, even though I expected it to be just another cliche shoujo, it really surpassed my expectations.
Story 9/10
From the first episode I was really intrigued by Maya's character. At first sight she seems like your basic 13 years old, naive and not being in touch with reality, but her passion for acting shows another side of her: the hidden genius. During the 51 episodes you can really observe Maya and enjoy her journey, while she will face happiness, achievements, failure, grief and even love, (but that's one things i really liked about the story, it doesn't focus on a particular love interest, but is reflects the many ,, masks" Maya wears as an actress, her am…

I want to review this anime very briefly.
First, It has a great story and I love the main character Maya.
Her struggles to become an artist all felt too real and inspiring.
I didn't think acting was so hard and I learned something about perseverance and giving your best for your dreams. If something, I would give this series a perfect 10 for the first half episodes.
Then it becomes more and more cliche. I understand this comes from a Shoujo manga, and it shows, latter on the series Maya and the other characters do things that I think are not very rational, and are kind of cliche on these kind of mangas: (like falling in love with your tyrannical master or "casual" miraculous encounters, things like that), still it was not that bad, but it surely made the overall plot not perfect, at leas…

Watching glass no kamen was a great enjoyment for me, i loved the world of acting that this anime represents in a great way, however, I'm not very happy with that opened ending... I still want to see and discover more about what would happen next !!
I'm sure that I'll never forget this anime, it gives a strange strength to me so I can do what I really love in this life...
I highly recommend it for those who think that the world hate them and they can't ever be useful (you don't know where and when the luck will reach you), and for those who love the stage too.

Glass no Kamen is really quite the masterpiece I found myself needing to keep watching, it isn't like the anime that you want to know the end already its an anime that sort of wants you to follow every episode see how shes grown as an actress and truthfully I haven't watched a good acting and idol life sort of anime in a long time that was this good the last one that was this good was kilari revelution which I was pretty upset that it ended. I enjoyed this alot I think we can all say that we need to see if our ship has sailed like so many of my ships have been broken but the last one of my ships felt like it would happen and I sort of want to know if she ended up with him but like lets just leave it here I don't wanna give out too many spoilers anyway I do hope you watch it! lets just say…

Glass Mask is not the best anime ever, but it holds beauty and content that are some of the best ever seen in anime.
The series is a biography of a child actress. It captures the whole life of its main character from childhood to adulthood, from complete beginner to professional. The series is similar to the sports genre where stories completely and utterly rely on character development.
The series selling point is the acting itself. The training for these plays as well as the plays itself are content that is simply not available anywhere else, and they are polished beyond belief. My favorite act was perhaps Helen Keller's childhood. The actresses went into the role of a young girl who was both blind and deaf since birth. Never been able to interract with other people or the world in…

I found this anime because I wanted to know if there were any other anime's that has to do with acting besides Skip Beat. I was told Glass Mask is the best acting anime out there and I have to agree. I find Glass Mask to be remarkable because of it's story line, the plays, the tips and tricks actors do, how to be on stage and capture your audience.
Story (9)
I give this story a 9. I wanted to give it a 10 but like some anime's it lacks a few things. The only thing that this story lacks is the romance. It kinda builds you up to something but in the end it leaves you dissatisfied. but because you have come so far and on the edge of your seat watching all 51 episodes, you can't help but give this anime a great rating. I'm not giving out any spoilers on the show but I had to put out that this…

If someone asked me what is the perfect acting anime what anime can be known as probably the best in its own genre then i would say Glass No Kamen.
The story has the feeling of cliche around it since it almost depicts Cinderella who cant break out of her shell because she is held back by those around her. Having said that it wouldn't be the anime it was if it hadn't something like this in it and the way it flows is perfect with everything else that happens around it. Although there is drama in this anime even close to become a melodrama something makes you want look past in and look at it as general but great drama almost as if in a play. It never gets too suffocating which is normally the flaw in anime like this. It embraces drama in ways other anime to this date could learn from and kn…

This anime... wow. Just wow.
This anime has become the oxygen that I breathe- I am only alive because of its existence. It has (almost) restored my will to live.
Every morning, I only open my eyes because I know that an anime like Glass Mask exists. It is the EPITOME of what the anime industry has to offer and it will n e v e r be beaten in terms of its incredibly well-written story and extensive character development.
Seeing Maya's growth throughout the series was so satisfying, and I was never once bored when watching the show. The series also did a good job on creating a rival, Ayumi, that was not lazily represented as an enemy, or the 'bad guy' (like a lot of anime and other forms of media do).
Also the romance between Maya and Hayami was 👌👌
However,,, the ending FUCKED ME UP™.…

Glass Mask was amazing! I finished it in 2 days because it had been a while that I had seen such an amazing anime.
Story 10/10
Great plot. It is very interesting and it brings you through so many emotions. Love, happiness, sadness, anger, etc. It was very emotional and I cried many times. It is about a girl named Maya who strives to become a better actress so that she can eventually play the Scarlet Angel like Ms. Tsukikage. However, she has a rival named Ayumi who has been acting all her life and seems to have everything. It's a beautiful story. (I'm mad about the ending though)
Art 10/10
I had no problems with the art. I really like how the characters were drawn (though sometimes the nose seemed a little off to me idk) but considering that it was made 11 years ago, it's amazing!

At first glance I thought this anime was going to be too dramatic or exaggerated but everything was kept in great proportion to the story. It honestly reeled me in from the first episode and I was hooked, finished the series in two days, but was ultimately really let down by the ending. They did a great job building up the characters but fell short on the climax and ending. Everything seems completely rushed and a lot of answers were left, well, unanswered. That being said, the ending was the only disappointing aspect of this anime to me, but then again that's a pretty big deal. Despite that, I'd definitely say watch it because it really will make you feel something and you will be emersed into the world of acting that they portray very well.

There are no spoilers in this review. My rating system counts story for 30% of the total, characters as 30%, art as 20%, and 20% for the sound.
Under the my formula, this anime would receive a 7.3. But I feel it has greatly affected me and I can't stop thinking about it so I'm going to give it an 8 simply becauase of my enjoyment and its deeep impact it had on me. For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 8
The story of this anime itself is not very original but the pacing and execution is incredible. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the screen and breezed through all 51 episodes in 2 days. The story focuses on an aspiring actress’s journey to stardom. I would have loved to given this anime a higher story rating but the ending…

My favorite parts of this anime were the romance (older guy/ younger girl), and the development of the main character from an insignificant girl that no one believes in, to a woman with amazing talent.
As far as the romance goes, it has all the elements of a typical shoujo (girl cries and runs away a lot, hides her true emotions), but for some reason it works in this anime and doesn't feel cliche. I must admit that a good romance is mainly what I look for in anime, and this one is really sweet and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering if the two will end up together.
Also for what it's worth, this anime is an adaptation of a manga which is ongoing, so the ending does not wrap everything up perfectly, but it does a pretty good job.

Glass no Kamen is a shoujo manga written by Miuchi Suzue starting in the mid 70s and still going. The series has had two anime adaptations. The first was done by Eiken in 1984 the second was done by TMS Entertainment and ran from April of 2005 to March of 2006. We're going to be looking at the TMS Entertainment version because I was specifically asked to look at that one. The Gent in question provided a link and everything.
Story:
Kitajima Maya has always been a normal girl. She works after school to help pay for her and her mother's room and board. She also happens to have a bad habit of getting distracted by dramas. While re-enacting a scene for some children she comes to the attention of Tsukikage Chigusa, a former actress who had to retire when an accident left her scarred. Tsukika…
