JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Introduction

Years after an ancient evil was salvaged from the depths of the sea, Joutarou Kuujou sits peacefully within a Japanese jail cell. He's committed no crime yet demands he not be released, believing he's been possessed by an evil spirit capable of harming those around him. Concerned for her son, Holy Kuujou asks her father, Joseph Joestar, to convince Joutarou to leave the prison. Joseph informs his grandson that the "evil spirit" is in fact something called a "Stand," the physical manifestation of one's fighting spirit which can adopt a variety of deadly forms. After a fiery brawl with Joseph's friend Muhammad Avdol, Joutarou is forced out of his cell and begins learning how to control the power of his Stand. However, when a Stand awakens within Holy and threatens to consume her in 50 days, Joutarou, his grandfather, and their allies must seek out and destroy the immortal vampire responsible for her condition. They must travel halfway across the world to Cairo, Egypt and along the way, do battle with ferocious Stand users set on thwarting them. If Joutarou and his allies fail in their mission, humanity is destined for a grim fate. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Probably a very unpopular opinion, but I think this part is decent, nothing on the level of other Jojo parts. If I had to describe this part briefly, it’s experimental and action packed. The Jojo we follow here is Jotaro Kujo, and his whole personality is just serious aura farmer. I don’t dislike this Jojo but he’s very one note. Regarding characters, I actually think the side characters, his group is written better and more dynamic than him. Avdol and Polnareff come to mind. The characters here are 50/50, half I like, the other half I don’t care for too much. The story to me is the weakest here, they are traveling to Egypt to take down Dio who comes back to save Jotaros mom. This is fine and all, but the execution was poor. Every episode feels like a villain of the week. The fights are…

Being possibly one of the most iconic animes of all time, JJBA Part 3 is everything you've heard from everyone else. There's not much more for me to add that hasn't already been said a million times. Despite this, I will admit that this show is not for everyone. The pacing can be incredibly dreary to sit through, the plotline of each episode (or 2, or even 3) gets predictable very quickly, and the constantly shifting tone can be hard to keep up with. I do recommend you watch Parts 1 and 2 before watching Part 3, because even if you might not like one of them you may still like the other.

If you enjoyed Jojo Part 1 and 2 for the story more than the combat, this first half of Part 3 is going to feel like a slog. Compared to the prior 2 parts of Jojo, I would say this first half is the weakest of the 3. The issue for me is that Part 1 and 2 have prominent antagonists that are constantly appearing throughout the story, while this first half of Part 3 is just a villain of the week structured story. As someone who enjoys the wacky combat but finds story to be more important, this felt like a massive downgrade. Most episodes follow the structure of "Jojo goes to place, an evil stand user appears in attempt to kill Jojo, but Jojo defeats them." The main antagonist does appear from time to time, but it is simply to say one or two lines without having any real impact on Jojo's jour…

Stardust Crusaders Part 3 (first half): Pre-Egypt After the events from the Battle Tendency, we get introduced into the next era for the Jotaro family. The next evolution or alternative to Hamon is shown within the early episodes. Joseph is the main character for the next gen of the era of the 1980s with his grandfather Joseph. Their personalities are opposite, but that Joestar courage stays the same. The progression of the power system is kind of basic with Stands, but it's just a metaphor or representation of someone's fighting spirit. Not the best way to keep someone involved in a Shounen show like this...but as usual JoJo's Bizarre Adventures lives to its name. The incentive is given out for the characters to identify and apprehend the main villain, Dio. Since it's a generational f…

A series that oozes a sense of arrogance, so assured of its own style and characters. The main character is one of the most boring, cliché blockheads in the genre. That says a lot considering just how much competition there is in anime in that category. He is also a high school student, because of course he is, we haven't seen that in a character 27 million times before. The character looks like he is in his thirties at least, but no, he is just a badass high school kid. The rest of the cast are mostly one note as well. I do like some of the battles for sure, even if the show feels like one long excuse for these fights to take place. All of this wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but what ruins the entire show is just how immature it is. A show with some brutal sequences of violence is a…

Wow. I had to force myself to get through Part 1 and 2 which in my opinion was tough - fight scenes were extremely long, story wasn’t as interesting, and I genuinely almost dropped Jojos in the middle of Part 1 because it just wasn’t my thing. I’m so grateful my boyfriend forced me to continue. Part 3 was truly like starting a new show! Part 1-2 felt like a prequel, and Part 3 felt like the true beginning of Jojos Bizarre Adventure. I know some people who didn’t like Jojo’s and I think people who are struggling with it should start with Part 3. The pacing, characters, art, overall story, it’s all so good in Part 3. I’m quite hard to please when it comes to having favourite animes, nothing beat Steins;Gate for me but Jojos is giving it some competition. This is truly in my top 3. So good!…

Persoanlly, back in 2020. I remember seeing a gif of Kakyoin with a cherry and some clips of the 90s OVA and i decided to check it out the series. And the final result. Good but not the masterpiece people said, sure it had the tiresome "formula of character doing actions week" but it fits well with Jotaro´s character. That is basically a anti-hero counterpart of Dio, being a character that is so charismatic at the point of making the audience like and dislike him in a roller-coaster of emotions so unique, that it manages to care Araki’s bold style of viewing, obviously giving the question of simple surpassing the complex as a result.

Either this show isn't for me, or the battle shounen genre as a whole isn't for me. I didn't really like the first two parts of Jojo, but oh my god, was this one a drag. The animation is serviceable, though the OP is one of the best of all time without a doubt. Music is okay I guess. Everything else was not great. Never before has a series exhausted be so much by being so boring. Every episode. Fight. Every episode. Jotaro aura farms. Every episode. Only Polnareff is allowed to experience emotions. The characters are allergic to hanging out with each other besides forming strategeies for whatever horrible mercnary just got thrown at them, save for Polnareff and Avdol. That's a lie, there is some camrederie between the group--Jotaro and Joseph as a grandson/grandpa duo, Jotaro and Kakyo…

Thus ends the first part of the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventures with Jotaro Kujo. The things I loved were the length of the story and the non-stop excitement. Jotaro's character, or JoJo, in this part possesses qualities that Jonathan and Joseph didn't possess. However, Joseph remains a legend in my eyes and the first to break the curse of the Joestar family. I enjoyed the new characters: Polnareff, Kakuin, and Mohammed Abdul. A wonderful part and an excellent part as a whole. The story in this part is very enjoyable. The new power system: the Stand or Spiritual Power to the Stands Camet is great, but the transition from the waves we were used to in the first two parts from both Jonathan and Joseph was wonderful. This power system is one of the masterpieces of the JoJo anime.…

Okay, I'm starting to see the appeal of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. At first, I thought this show was a little too nonsensical, but with time, I have learned that the over-the-top and excessive nature of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is exactly the direct appeal of this anime. Each fight scene is exciting, hilarious, and leaves you on the edge of your seat. At first, you might think the show introduces too many characters and that you'll never remember them all, let alone catch their growth or development. Somehow, though, this season of anime bites off more than it can chew and manages to swallow it; it has ambitious goals but achieves them anyway. The artwork isn't noticeably better than previous arcs, but somehow, it hits you harder this time around. The relationships between characters fe…

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure stands, in my opinion, as the greatest manga I've had the pleasure of experiencing. However, Stardust Crusaders, despite being the most iconic part of the series, is not its best offering. It occupies an awkward position where it showcases many of the manga's signature elements but also highlights some of its weaker aspects. Though it's undeniably important for the development of the series, it's not as refined as later parts. The introduction of a new, experimental power system, combined with pacing issues, affects its overall quality. Nonetheless, this part is crucial as it wraps up the original trilogy and lays the groundwork for everything that comes after. With that said, let’s delve into what Stardust Crusaders is about and the themes it explores. We'll also…

My in depth review is posted on season 2, but overall: It's good but the original OVA was better IMO. They made certain changes in this I'm just not quite a fan of especially in the next season, but even in this season some episodes were just less funny to me than the OVA. I'm quite certain that part of that is the animation style. But also changes they made regarding the plot of an episode and how it's resolved. It's been years but I remember for example that the "hotel/abandoned town" episode was quite a bit different and better in the OVA.

Overall 9/10 Story has a great sense of direction from the start, has a decent development and a surely satisfying finish. Characters are so goddamn unique I don't think you'll find a single character in this entire series that are your average joe. Music is really great from the point of view of someone who clearly lacks the technical level to correctly avaliate, but in a general sense is really good. Not the best part of the series but surely one of the greater points of the series is how this part is a great start for what's to come and an ending from what it came from as it's ending the power form used in previous parts and starting a new and more freshly done one.

Short Review: SDC just isn't as interesting as other parts of the series; it can actually be quite a bore sometimes unlike any other part in the franchise. I believe this is for two reasons: First, Jotaro is one of the least interesting and personable Jojos and he also is succeeding one of the best characters in the entire franchise, Joseph. Second, the arcs and villains leading up to the ending are just not that interesting. Maybe only a couple of the villains that the heroes fight along the way to Dio are memorable at all, and only superficially. Third, the rest of the supporting cast is not very cool. Yes, this might seem like a very shallow critique, but one of the main things that makes Jojo so unique and exciting is how — uniquely, in Araki's over the top yet sublime style — its char…

yep, i'ts jojo what can i possibly say that it wasn't said already? One of the most influential anime of all time only losing to Fist of The NorthStar, One Piece and Dragonball, Great Animation, gorgeous artstyles, amazing fights scenes, and lets not forget The character designs that some fights games take inspiration from. Jotaro is a badass( althought he can get kinda angsty tbh) that still inside has a kind heart, Joseph is a gem (thought i wish he had more time to shine), Polnareff can go from very funny to badasss to having one of the best moments in the series, Kakyoin the same thing, Iggy was kinda annoying but he was the goat at the end, Avdol has a lot of cool moments as well and lets not forget Dio who acts like the biggest piece of shit ever but he makes sure to do everything he…

Stardust Crusaders is my favorite season (to date). I think what I loved the most about this season was the introduction of Stands and how creative Stand users were with their abilities. We had to say goodbye to Hamon which made me sad and upset for the seasons to come. I feel like when a power is dependent on how well a person trains and exudes self-discipline, it’s better than a power that was just given to you and you have to learn how to wield it. Training, discipline, self-sacrifice, and adversity is good for the mind, body, and spirit. The characters had noble spirits, a real heart of a fighter. I felt this season was very similar to its previous ones and how these men had honor and respect for the people they fought beside. I also loved how, in order to extend the series, we explore…

!!!! Minor Spoilers !!!! Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders is the third part of Hirohiko Araki's magnum opus. Part 3 definitely is the most iconic and known Part even outside of the Jojo fandom. Mostly because of the introduction of stands, Jotaro Kujo and the return of Dio Brando (now DIO). The third part is split into two seasons, which both of them got 24 episodes. On this review, the main focus will be on the first half of Part 3, therefore the first season. As with my review of Part 1&2, I will have the same categories for the score: Story, Pacing, Characters, Music, Animation, Art, Enjoyment and Overall. But for the introduction of stands, a friend and me both agreed that I should put in the category of fights as well, as they are getting more complex and different fro…

Stardust Crusaders, baby! Probably the quintessential JoJo part, as it contains everything that made this series legendary distilled to its purest form - Stands, wacky battles, epic action, adventure, high stakes, great characters and a sprinkling of humour to boot. The anime adaptation is almost flawless - it's faithful to the manga, the animation and artstyle are fantastic and iconic and the voice acting and music have achieved legendary status for a reason. I only think that it's a bit too stretched, part 3 is not longer than parts 4 or 5 in the manga, it didn't need to have so many more episodes. Granted, spitting in into two seasons upon arriving in Egypt makes sense, but in some moments, it feels a bit stretched out. It's not a big deal though and the viewing experience is consistent…

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, to me, is where JoJo really begins. It's where the thing that JJBA is best known for finally makes its debut. The entity known as a Stand. Any character that has a Stand is called a Stand User. Stands continue to be a thing in the Parts after Part 3. While Hamon pretty much becomes irrelevant. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1 and 2 had continuous storylines, however, with Part 3, the show turns to a Monster of the Week format. If you're only interested in the main story, you are probably better off watching the earlier 2000 and 1993 OVA adaptations (in that order), as those show the most important and exciting events from the manga, and the story ends quicker. This 2014 remake, the second adaptation of the Stardust Crusaders manga, you'l…
