Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss

Introduction

High schooler Nanami Momozono has quite a few problems of late, beginning with her absentee father being in such extreme debt that they lose everything. Downtrodden and homeless, she runs into a man being harassed by a dog. After helping him, she explains her situation, and to her surprise, he offers her his home in gratitude. But when she discovers that said home is a rundown shrine, she tries to leave; however, she is caught by two shrine spirits and a fox familiar named Tomoe. They mistake her for the man Nanami rescued—the land god of the shrine, Mikage. Realizing that Mikage must have sent her there as a replacement god, Tomoe leaves abruptly, refusing to serve a human. Rather than going back to being homeless, Nanami immerses herself in her divine duties. But if she must keep things running smoothly, she will need the help of a certain hot-headed fox. In her fumbling attempt to seek out Tomoe, she lands in trouble and ends up sealing a contract with him. Now the two must traverse the path of godhood together as god and familiar; but it will not be easy, for new threats arise in the form of a youkai who wants to devour the girl, a snake that wants to marry her, and Nanami's own unexpected feelings for her new familiar. Kamisama Kiss is one of those anime that becomes impossible not to get attached to. The story itself is ACTUALLY pretty simple, but the way the series handles it's characters, comedy, romance and atmosphere makes everything feel so memorable. Every episode has this cozy magical vibe that makes it really easy to keep watching 'just one more episode ' until suddenly the season is over... I wonder why. The biggest reason the series works so well is definitely Nanami and Tomoe's chemistry. Their relationship doesn't feel rushed or forced since it develops naturally through all the teasing, arguments, interactions. NANAMI ALSO DESERVES MORE CREDIT because she NEVER feels like a week or annoying protagonist. Even while dealing with literal supernatural chaos, she still stays determined and hone…

Mann I LOVE YOU TOMOE This anime was so good, its full of fine shyts and I am totally here for it.I loved it.I am sad that this anime didn't contain all of the other arcs which are in the manga but even then it was still wonderful. The OVA was much much better than the two whole seasons, I started shipping Jirou and Nanami so hard I really wanted to see them end up together. If you are a rom com anime lover, you should definitely give it a try, some of the episodes made me giggle and kick my feet in the air. I love watching peak romcom anime 😝😝 "Theres so human or yokai when it comes to a girls heart" Until then Jaane!

Absolutely LOVED watching every single second of Kamisama Hajimemashita! Although the anime is starting to get on the older side, I adored its simplicity and the nostalgia that it gave me. Of course, it's not perfect, but I genuinely think it's one of the best anime I've ever watched, especially within its genre. The writing is so amazing and it made me feel so many different emotions. Although it's more of a rom-com, there were definitely moments where I teared up and my heart was hurting for the characters, especially Nanami. However, the show also made me squeal and laugh plenty! I watched the show in the Dub and Sub and it's safe to say that it's equally hilarious in both. As a main character, I really loved how the writers portrayed Nanami. Sometimes in shoujo female leads are writte…

Kamisama Hajimemashita is the anime that completely stole my heart and claimed first place on my favorites list and that honestly says a lot. The story is wonderful from start to finish, mixing romance, comedy, and supernatural elements in a way that feels both magical and deeply comforting. There were moments so funny that I was literally dying of laughter, and then scenes so beautiful and emotional that they left me speechless. The characters are a huge part of why this anime is so special. Nanami’s growth is inspiring, Tomoe’s development is heart‑melting, and their chemistry is just perfect. Every episode feels like a warm hug, full of charm, humor, and emotion. And yes, I absolutely cried at the end. How could I not? The ending was beautiful, but also painful in that “I’m not ready t…

Kamisama Kiss (known as Kamisama Hajimemashita in Japan) is about a homeless highschool girl named Nanami who becomes a local deity after gaining divine powers and meeting the mysterious fox spirit Tomoe. At first, I thought this would be an anime following Nanami's live as she grants the wishes of the shrine visitors, however it took a more romantic turn. Story - 7/10 Again, I was expecting it to follow the slice-of-life antics that Nanami faces balancing school life with her secret as a kami-sama, and although it somewhat does, it turned out in a slightly different way than I expected. Instead, the series introduces many other gods and spirits that compete for Nanami's affection in classic shojo fashion, some of which are more interesting than others. However, the last few episodes of…

I know that many people only take into account how good the story and animation are when choosing their favorites, while others take into account how relevant the authors, studio and team involved in the work are, even basing themselves on past works made by them, and I also respect these criteria very much. However, Kamisama Hajimemashita is my favorite because of several other factors that can't even be catalogued or placed as a conventional parameter of choice, because it was something very unique. This anime wasn't recommended to me, but one day, when I was younger, I was watching it on giganima (an app I used at the time in 2014/2015) and guided by the curiosity that the cover generated in me, I decided to do the 3 episode rule, but I ended up getting carried away and watched it all d…

WHY DO PEOPLE SLEEP ON THIS ANIME?? it's so heartwarming... As a huge fan of shoujo, this is probably one of the best shoujos I've watched. The story is catchy, and the romance scenes between Nanami and Tomoe are so cute...(I can't stop watching a part of episode 9) Not to mention, the soundtracks are so well composed, matching the scenes, while maintaining the spiritual theme of shrines, and incorporating Japanese nature into it. for the main couple: while Nanami can be quite stubborn at times, it is this personality trait that pushes her to strive for things she wishes to obtain. She has a very positive personality :) I did find Tomoe kind of mean, although it makes their chemistry very funny and cute which is delightful to watch. A funny, cheerful and warming anime - a nice cup of t…

Not really sure how this Shoujo has such a higher rating than Snow White with the red hair, or Yona of the dawn. Story 5/10 Usual episodic style with a spattering of continuance in there which is usually a fine formula. But the problem is that the episodes themselves are quite boring and actually a bit of a trudge sometimes. There are moments where it makes you feel like 'ah, now it's going to get good' and then plummets back to dull. Art/Animation 4/10 Surprising this animation comes from the 2010's when the style (and humor, but I digress) seems like its from 1999 Characters 4/10 The more you get to know Tomoe is probably the only interesting part and saving grace. Before getting his backstory he comes across as the generic 'tough love' style servant, but even as generic he is decent…

This is such a wholesome anime. Read the manga as well after watching both seasons, and damn it has a great plot. The storytelling is just beautiful, characters are really given depth and it feels settling once you finish watching. Story might be predictable but you enjoy it anyway because you'll have fun watching it. Side characters are not ignored and they're not there just to make way for protagonists, and there'll be heart tugging, skipping, and wrenching moments which will remind you about the time there is with our loved ones. Though it is not an 'anime without any bad episodes', but it definitely won't make you feel like you wasted your time on this. Really recommended if you love shoujo romances with comedy and have little bit of patience to see through the whole story.

This was one of the very first "girl" anime I watched when I was young. There was something about Kamisama Hajimemashita that really charmed me...However, after rewatching it, I really want to slam my head into a wall for thinking so fondly about this piece of trash for so long. The concept is neat, I like most of the character designs and I enjoy the potential this has...but I cannot put up Nanami. I HATE THIS FUCKING CHARACTER. Her romance with Tomoe is so unenjoyable. They're always bickering about literally nothing or Nanami will act like a complete DUMBASS by ignoring her role as a deity and trusting everyone way too easily. In general the romantic moments are just so....boring. Why? Because on top of being useless, Nanami is also incredibly generic and a self insert slab for the…

A very cute love story, it brings drama along with comedy and romance very easy and it's so easy to love the characters! I keep coming back every year to rewatch! i also love rewatching it when i feel sad because it makes me happy, it's sort of a bad boy falls in love with girl and there's other boys involved in a sort of romance way but the main character is actually likeable, most of the time my problem with animes like this is that the main character is always either unbearable or very basic with a vanilla personality which is not the case here, i think anyone who enjoys romance anime will love this as much as i do! and will love the characters! not to mention the songs! they're definetly on my playlist for life <3

Its like inuyasha if it was more of a romance! it also has a fruits basket feel to it which i think someone else has pointed out as well. If you dont know either of those, thats ok! Start with this anime and if you like the fantasy aspect, pick up inuyasha! If you like the soft drama and romance, fruits basket is for you! I went in not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised! The characters are unique and fun without having to try too hard and the art is decent! The main girl is just sort of everyday spunky but it still lends well to the story. I only wish they explained her backstory a little more? They introduce her as down on her luck and why but dont really get into her feelings on her past and her ability to get over it is kind of...odd? I mean her dad skips town and leaves her al…

What I liked: - There's a lovely blend between traditional folktale/myth elements and a modern-day shoujo story. It really does feel like watching a myth unfolding underneath the modern aesthetic and I'm a sucker for that. - I found the comedy funny and I liked the overall light and fluffy tone of the story. - The art style is pretty and stands out a bit from other anime. - OP and ED are memorable and cute! - The characters are all likable. Naturally, the youkai are the real spotlight characters. They each have interesting personalities with long and complicated pasts, so it's quite nice watching pieces get slowly revealed. The main character, Nanami, is your standard Ordinary Teenage Girl, but I do like her and found her a little more grounded than some other shoujo heroines I've seen. P…

Overview: "Kamisama Kiss" is definitely not the kind of anime I normally watch, being a supernatural shojo romantic comedy with almost no real villains and quiet, chirpy music. The reason I ended up drawn to the series in the first place was because of its similarities to shows like "Inuyasha" and "Noragami", the former of which is possibly my favourite anime of all time. But did I find myself enjoying it, despite the fact that it would normally not be my thing? The answer is a definite "Yes", as it is a fluffy, heartfelt and often hilarious series with a good story and very likable, well-developed characters. Story (7.5/10): The protagonist and heroine of the series is Nanami Momozono, a teenage girl like any other who has recently been evicted from her home due to gambling debts accumul…

10/10 for me... why? well... because... FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A VERY VERY LONG TIME I HAVE GOTTEN TO FEEL SOMETHING WATCHING ANIME AND THAT IS THE JOY OF FANGIRLING AS WELL... the romance (which isn't anything huge just kisses etc.) makes me so happy... maybe my review is biased because I'm a fan of the romance genre, but this is a god-tier romance anime here. All those new romance animes coming out these days aren't bad, but the older ones are definitely better and I am so glad that I finally got around to watching this. Tomoe also played a big role in my *cough* biased?! *cough* rating hehehe. In all honesty maybe I'd have given this a real rating of an 8.5-9/10 though. I still enjoyed it quite a lot, but I was a tad bit disappointed at the end because I expected something bigger, some…

I came into this one with very high hopes and expectations. I left feeling happy that it was over. I honestly expected a lot more from this one. Aside from a chuckle here or there, the jokes fell completely flat. The humor was barely palatable and was for the most part unrefined and obnoxious. Actually, obnoxious is the perfect descriptor for Kamisama Kiss, the first word that springs to mind if asked to describe the series. The romance, if you could even call it that, was contrived and was as tropey as they come. Absolutely nothing in this series felt original. What can I say nice about this series?.. The art was nice I guess, although nothing special for the era. The OST fit the mood pretty well. But seriously, nothing about this show was well written.

It is horrible. The animation is bad, even for a shoujo. It hasn't aged well, at all. I went in checking out season 1, and jumped ahead to season 2. Season 2 didn't improve upon the story. It continues the same old formula: a destitute girl ends up with free rent in an old abandoned shrine. There are futons and she has a furry man who becomes her servant and cooks and cleans for her. A high school girl's ultimate fantasy. It's intended for a very young audience. This was as bad as Ouran. The storyline coulda been interesting if it was centering around regular people praying to the shrine. Kind of like a slice of life. See that's what I was interested in. That's what I thought until there were supernatural demonic beings brought in the story. This becomes another Inuyasha knockoff. Bo…

I am inlove with this anime! The plot was very creative. The characters was so well written too. Story (9) : Basically, Nanami, a normal highschool girl, gets kicked out of her apartment and meets a guy who's afraid of dogs. And surprisingly gives her his home. And then loads of things happen. ( this is a sign, go watch this RN ASAP ) Art (8) : I had no problem with the art. I find it very cute. Sound (8) : I don't really pay that much attention to the sound, but I can say that they used the right sounds in scenes. Character (7) : The characters are okay. I did like Nanami's boldness and some other characters personality. But, **sometimes** I do get annoyed of Nanami's kindness. Enjoyment (8) : I laughed a lot watching this anime. And I also get excited. Overall, I give this anime a…

I remember the reason I watched this was because it came from the same company as Fruits Basket anime (my favorite, I will talk about this one later), but then I walked away totally disappointed. Maybe coming to this from something as amazing as Fruits Basket is not the brightest move, but I was also quite bored at the second season. This is a show that starts off SO STRONG, then falls flat. I loved Tomoe’s character at the beginning when things were still tentative, but then everything just changed and I was only watching to finish what I started rather than enjoying it.
