Heaven's Memo Pad

Heaven's Memo Pad

Introduction

Narumi Fujishima may seem like a normal high school student at first glance, but in reality he is a pessimistic outsider. Due to his father's work, he had to constantly transfer schools, and thus he has never managed to become a part of society. When he is forced to join the gardening club by his cheerful classmate Ayaka Shinozaki, Narumi encounters the genius hacker Alice, who lives in isolation above Hanamaru, the ramen shop where Ayaka works part-time. He then discovers that Alice is running a special private detective agency, and that all her professional associates refer to themselves as "NEET"s: Not in Education, Employment, or Training. Joining the NEET detective agency due to his personal connection with a criminal case, Narumi finds himself entangled in a world of dangerous investigations conducted by the ill-assorted group of detectives, all the while trying to track down the crime syndicate which seems to have mysterious ties to Alice. Heaven's Memo Pad feels like false advertising. It bills itself prominently as a NEET-themed piece, but utterly fails to deliver in this regard. This is not only because most characters aren't NEETs, but also because the cultural references and character traits one would expect of NEETS are generally absent here. If anything, it's a lighthearted yakuza crime comedy/drama with a NEET detective girl prominently featured. The yakuza thing was fine when I thought it was going to be a one-time gag, but the fact it took hold of the whole entire show for the purposes of serving some contrived, rushed, and melodramatic plot hook about the backstories of some of these yakuza side characters completely ruined the piece for me. It was bad enough that the closest thing we got to a real NEET in the mai…

Heaven's Memo Pad is as a 10/10 Anime as much as other popular shows like Stein's Gate,Gosick, and Angel Beats. It's almost criminal how low a score this has on Mal. Maybe it has a 7 score because so many don't watch passed the first prologue episode? Or maybe people just saw a bad dub version? All I can say is, wow, way to miss out. This anime has an amazing lovable cast, an engaging mystery series, and writing that is so good it spills into the storyboard and pacing. I won't spoil too much, but I will say a lot of anime does a water-down version of outside concepts, like religion, but HMP does a pretty good job and not taking religious text too much out of context and rather uses it as a compliment to have open dialogues about ideas and self reflection. This is how you do proper writi…

I might be a little harsh in my review, but this is how I feel. I originally dropped this anime because I was done with it, but I decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, I was let down again. On the positive side, the setting is interesting for a short series and doesn't overstay its welcome. The artwork is decent, and these two aspects initially drew me in. They did a good job in these areas. However, the negatives outweigh the positives. The characters and the story are boring and stale. Even a bad story can be enjoyable if it’s laughable or weird, but this anime is the opposite. There is too much vagueness, and the main character, Narumi, lacks motivation. He just can't stand up for himself. In episode 1, he could have stepped away from those guys (although we wouldn't have…

Theres a joke at the start of the show towards the MC where one says ” youre still here?” And then makes a comment how bland face and precense he has that they forgot him. This works very well towards this show aswell. Its not bad. Just very forgettable. Which is why i cant refer to him as anything else than MC because ive forgotten his name despite finishing the show just earlier today. This is your standard NEET gang and story. Its mentioned as mystery or detective stuff but its so barebones its not even worth to be put in that genre imo. Its more just standard Otaku/NEET slice of life/”humor” Theres tons of these shows and most does it better. Music is nothing special. Characters arent memorable or likeable. Just watch, and then forget. Giving it a 6/10

Originally discovered this anime thanks to Kyosuke_Kosaka's recommendation for 'similar anime to Sakurako,' which ya'll know I love. This series DID NOT DISAPPOINT. TLDR: The cast of Kamisama is well rounded, characters with more depth than Sakurako's, and the ending leaves you feeling quite satisfied - no loose ends or plot holes. Now onto the nitty gritty for anyone who might be entertained by my fan girling: OMG the character depth! In the beginning, we're introduced to various support characters and a large cast, but we gradually get more tidbits of their own lives and personalities with every episode. There's so much humor in their dialogue that I'm really not sure how this is missing the comedy tag. I think the creators deliberately paced everything slowly so that the audience would…

I rather enjoyed this anime, although short, it made up for it in many difference ways, for starters each character had his or her own, unique personality trait that made this particular anime worth watching and holding onto, like a best friend, that you hold dear. But, one that you trust with all of your heart, no matter what happens, you'll know that certain best friend will never leave your side no matter the cost, under any circumstances, you know that you two will always be close, no matter what obstacles are placed before you, deep down you know you'll have each other's backs, that is what kind of anime this is to me.

This was a decent mystery series, but it stumbled in a couple of key places. For starters, some of the mysteries were too easy to figure out. The ideal time for the viewer to figure out a mystery is a few seconds before the protagonist, not two episodes before. The other problem was the characters. The protagonist is bland, passive too much of the time, and suffers from that annoying trope where everyone he meets uses him as their personal manservant, while insulting and abusing him all the while. Alice the NEET detective girl reminded me of a much less endearing version of Victorique from Gosick. On paper I can't quite point to the difference between them, but in practice I like Victorique and find Alice insufferable; maybe it's because Victorique didn't choose her circumstances, while Al…

Kamisama no Memochō is a series that I bought on a whim from a RightStuf sale and even though the pacing can be glacial, the last three episodes rewarded the audience's lenience, after having to sit through many scenes with alienating dialogue and lackluster writing. Moments with the criminally cute Yūko and her interactions with the "NEET"s could be charming, though sometimes, it felt as if Kamisama no Memochō may have been too ambitious and overwrought with dangling strings to really be effective as a single cour anime! ⚠️ This review of Heaven's Memo Pad will contain spoilers ⚠️ —Story/Characters Instantly, I found the character of Yūko to be immensely interesting, not only is she a government-level security hacker, but she also manages to survive her day-to-day existence, despite be…

I have one question upon finishing this Anime and that is why does this Anime doesn't get much attention it deserves? not only that it was underrated i have also seen some review saying that the only good thing about this Anime is "MOE" which i totally disagree! Story: Kamisama no Memochou is all about Alice "AKA: The NEET detective" and her Assistant the main protagonists of the show Narumi " AKA: The Gardening Club" Together they solve cases, sounds generic and unoriginal right? not really and let me tell you why. First of all Alice was solving every cases without even going to the main scene of the event(she's just waiting on her room and fulfilling the duties of being a NEET detective and some useful things/words that her comrades bring her to solve the case), secondly she's mainly co…

It had been awhile searching for good anime. I looked back to the old days and found this slightly unpopular/underrated anime. First off, a cool looking girl sitting in the midst of toys and screens, this image was pretty fascinating with the first look. After scrutinizing the synopsis, wow. I was astonished as it is far more indulging than what I had in mind. NEET Detectives? Small army? Stuffed bears? What an uncanny combination!! The initial plots of the story are truly mesmerising, the story starts with a blatant prostitution case ongoing and soon turns viral. After that, the NEETs have butted themselves into many cases like and starts resolving them. What NEETs? Well, it is simply an interesting title of the protagonist gang. To keep the interpretation simple, they are basically a bu…

" I'm not a detective. I'm a NEET detective. Speaker of the dead. " - Alice The story is not that great, the art is fine as well but the characters are the things that stole my heart. Different from other detective-style anime where the side characters are not the main attraction, this anime defined the side characters quite well, from a mafia boss that looks tough but has a soft side, an agile ex-boxer who represents the strength, a university student known as 'major' specializing in surveillance system, a playboy with extensive roots with the girls, to our lead characters. Alice is the center of the team, being the expert loli hacker and the master of deduction, collecting info from all sort of Internet-related technology to deploying strategies to solve the cases requested, while taki…

While I might b biased in this one, I still would like to state my reasons on why I like this show, basically what caught my eye on this was the fact that it's so plain that it makes me curious, I mean a new guy in a new city trying to adapt to his new world meeting an extraordinary girl and friends, but before I knew it I found that the plot (at least for me) was unique in it's own way. Story Like I said It's cliche, but one thing I found out here is the concept of soul searching, as Narumi tries to adapt he slowly tries to fit himself and get along with others, something that I would appreciate and would find realistic, also I find the neet detective stuff unique. yes it's not real or cool, but the fact is they are just a bunch of ordinary guys (except for Alice) who can do extraordinar…

Nostalgia is weird. Why did I rate this show a ten? Does it even deserve a ten? No no it doesn't its way closer to a seven or even lower than that, yet I still give it the score of 10/10. It's difficult to see why. The characters with the exception of Alice are cardboard thin, nothing more than a bunch of cliche's perpetuated. It makes it difficult to get attached. The story can be boring at times and yet I can't help but still give this a 10 out of 10. So why would I think that. Well to figure out we have to go back to when I first started seeing anime. I had it in my head to always find a legal way of purchasing and watching anime. So I watched my first few shows through Netflix and Crunchyroll and even bought the first five episodes of Dangarompa before finding it on Funimation. Heaven…

"Great potential marred by a shoddy pieced together story with no real purpose". I wish that wasn't my final thought – but it is. Kamisama no Memochou has an interesting concept and various characters that make for great potential; but alas, this potential is never reached. Various plots are thrown in one after another, but there is never a real purpose behind the story or the characters. The characters are real, each with their own issues, but a true understanding and resolve is never met. The anime is too short to achieve a proper climax and resolution; it tries too much in too little time. Kamisama no Memochou lacks the crimson thread that weaves an anime together. There are plots and subplots. To me, this anime feels like a big subplot with mentions of a plot that never appears or full…

Fantastic show, got me hooked from episode 1 , marathoned it straight away and I have no regrets, aside from the void now left in it's space. The story starts rather innocuously, seemingly like yet another one of those shows that populate the anime landscape. It all changes when Alice is introduced, and a new dimension transforms the anime drastically. The show did have its issues though, some introductions were done rather awkwardly but that aside, the show really does shine in setting up the challenges and gracefully leading the viewer through a series of carefully crafted experiences to help the viewer put the pieces together, whilst leaving enough for the grand reveal and twists. It is certainly a memorable anime and I highly recommend it , especially if you like investigative shows…

I can't reiterate this enough: WATCH THIS ANIME. No matter who you are or what kind of anime you like, you should like this anime. Summary: This is my new second favorite anime (nothing it going to top Mia-Hime I think). After finishing an anime I like to read the top reviews to see if there was anything I missed based on the reviews and to confirm how I felt was in line with the general consensus. ON this one I couldn't find a single highly rated review that did it justice. This isn't just some anime about a NEET detective who is a loli, this is deep on so many levels and has characters that are unforgettable and a perfect ending. That being said, this is the first anime I have ever seen that has a perfect ending but made me want more because it was just so good that I could have watched…

Kamisama No Memochou (Heaven’s Memo Pad) = Minimal Spoilers: There will be some references to traits of the story/plot and characteristics of characters in the anime, but no details that would spoil the enjoyment of the anime will be included. = //There are only two professions in the whole world that give meaning to those who have died and what have been lost... They're writers and detectives. Writers are the only ones able to revive what was lost through their visions. Detectives are the only ones able to dig up the grave and bring back lost information. But the information us detectives dig up is nothing more than the truth as recorded in Heaven's Memo Pad.// - Alice If I were to pick a word to describe my feelings towards Kamisama No Memochou, it would probably be ‘ambivalence’- I lo…

First of all, I don't write reviews. I just watch the anime, take note of it, put a score on it, and remember it if was good. The fact that I'm writing this is quite important. Now I gave this a 10. Story: 10 I had just finished watching "The Mentalist", a television show about crime and mystery, with comedy in between. So landing on Kamisama no Memochou was great for me. I was able to enjoy the story because, like "The Mentalist" the story was well thought out. The story starts and follows the general mystery solving format that makes it good. First, recognition of the crime, planning, first scouting, planning, first action, and then the reveal. Or something like that. I really appreciate that the series takes ~40 minutes to start and end a mystery. This shows that Alice and the detec…

Overall [9/10] This was.... amazing. Throw away the typical geniuses (although the characters are in their own way) and place people who decide to find something better in the world in a different ways. Plot [8/10] The plot may seem a bit of a lackluster at first but before you know it, you're stuck in their loop, unable to tear your eyes away from the screen. Watch the protagonist go from someone who barely interacted with anyone and threw around fake smiles to one of immeasurable power and find his own worth, neither exaggerated nor underestimated. Narumi was heartbreakingly human. Character [9/10] Alice; the speaker of the dead. While uncovering, she shoulders the burden that she could have done something had she been earlier, but she always reaches one scene too late. Renji, Hiro and M…

Kami-sama no Memo-chou is not a typical mystery anime when the "detective character" seems to be a little like Sherlock. This anime is about "NEETS" or school drop outs that take requests from clients who need help in finding someone or figuring out why someone did something. Each of the characters in this anime have distinct personalities. There are some typical anime tropes where characters represent a certain stereotype. One example is Alice; typical Gothic loli who is a bit of a tsundere - She is quite similar to the girl in Gosick. The anime is short but has a great storyline. I really got into it. I love the art and how the characters developed over the 12 episodes. It also makes you think of events that can take place in real life that we usually don't think about. I tend to be…
