This anime is like the warm morning sun shining through the window on a Saturday. Quiet, gentle, a little shy, but it stays in your heart for a long time. Kase-san and Morning Glories is a short film, but emotionally it does more than many feature-length romances.
The story focuses on Yui and Tomoko Kase — two completely different girls who are connected by their first love. And it's not a drama full of screams and tears, but a very subtle story about being in love for the first time. About uncertainty, about holding hands, about fear of the future.
What I liked most was that their relationship is shown normally. No fetishisation, no cheap sensationalism. Just two girls trying to make sense of their feelings and the world around them. It's incredibly refreshing.

As a queer, non-binary femboy who swings both ways, I can confirm that this is the most accurate depiction of a Asian lesbian couple, period. Being the queer, non-binary femboy that I am, I believe my opinion is valid. That being said, this JAV was quite boring for the most part. Me and my cisgender white boyfriend decided to watch this together and we both wish that we had instead spent this hour jerking each other off. Women that are in a questioning state in regards to their sexuality will likely enjoy this, as it should provide them with more things to question.

If you're looking for a meaningful or drama filled anime, this isn't the one for you. While it isn't a masterpiece in any way, it's definitely a great sol.
The movie shows the short time period of highschool and moving to college where we see the lesbian relationship between the two main character take place. It doesn't portray the full dynamics of the mcs instead focuses on the sol elements, creating a calm mood that makes you thoroughly appreciate it.
Both the main characters have a really cute relationship which paired along with the animation would definitely touch yuri fans. The fact that the movie starts with them already being in a relationship puts it a step above other yuri anime.
While this anime does have its shortcomings - there isn't a real message behind the anime, the cha…

Sapphic here... so I think my opinion is valid. This anime was just... boring? Contrived? Shallow? It had its cute moments and the art was very nice, but I honestly put it in 1.25x speed to finish the damn thing. There wasn't much of a plot that I could tell, and what plot there was was revealed by telling rather than showing; the writing was so shallow. I'm sure the source material is better-written, but I won't ever read it. I'll give it a 6 instead of a 5 simply because I want more WLW representation in anime, but it sucks that this is the best we've really got right now by way of WLW anime. RIP

This anime is an amazing GL, in the span of 50 minutes, you see so much happen.
It's so nice to have a GL where it is super fetishised or creepy. The relationship was super cute and I love both of their tropes!
The art and music are both equally as amazing and it suits the theme of the story and characters really well. The overall pacing of the story is somewhat slow but the beautiful visuals make it worth it. The characters have some form of communication in their relationship which is great to see, normally in queer animes it is misunderstandings on and on..
This is a must watch if you like GL!

I just finished this Yuri anime. I'm new to the GL/Yuri genre, and since this is the first one I've watched, I have a pretty good view on the genre as of now. If you like cute, heartwarming anime, then you should watch this. I worried they would end it on a bad note, but the ending is really cute.
I don't think this anime is all that, but it's definitely the type of anime that would make you go: "Aww, that's adorable." I wished they would've kissed a few more times.. But that's a problem for me. It's mostly innocent except for one line that says something like "Let's do it", but they didn't go through and said they would later.
It's not mentioned another time throughout the whole anime, which is okay since it's main focus isn't that kind of stuff. There's nothing else to say about this…

Cute, but towards the end the dynamic becomes quite painful. Both girls becoming posessive of each other is a huge red flag, and had it not cut off at the perfect spot, in my opinion, we would either have seen a train wreck of a romance or a fantasy-land, where no sacrifices are to be made and high school sweethearts stay together forever.
Still, there are a lot of things to appreciate about the OVA - the animation is quite a beauty - silky smooth and Kyoto-esque; the cuteness aspect is through the roof, with visual gags conveying the feelings of characters in a very accurate and simultaniously adorable way; there's no cheap drama, or painful jealousy that is so prevalent in yuri. It is very grounded in many aspects, so casual and yet so lovely.
Either way, if you are looking for a safe…

This left me feeling entirely and complete. For what it is, it's good, but there is just a complete lack of completion. The story was really just getting going when it ended. I was so happy with how early in Young Love is portrayed here, but it quit before it got beyond that stage.
This is a delightful Yuri representation and definitely worth a watch, just be prepared to know that too little gets accomplished in 57 minutes. It would be nice to see a follow-up of some sort, but it seems that it might be too early to tell whether that's going to happen or not.

It's incredibly cute because that's all it ever wants to be.
Well, let's start by saying "I'm not too interested in Yuri", which should hint at why the score is not in majority's favor, and I'm really sorry if this review might've attacked your opinions or preferences.
Our main characters, Yamada and Kase, are in love, and both are girls. That's the basic plot.
Throughout the whole runtime, all I ever thought was, "Looks like they (the creators) just wanted to show a sweet romance between cute girls" and that's pretty much the only thought I had been carrying throughout the whole thing. It was hard to feel a strong connection to their romance because it felt like I couldn't comprehend what they were going through whenever there was a conflict. I just liked the momentary slow moments, one…

Just perfect. No it won't have you thinking about it a week later. (Watch Bloom Into You for that.) You may tear up for a minute or two, but you won't be bawling for half a day. But it is a perfect slice of life romance that will make you feel good and leave you in peace.
The story, the art, the music, everything is just fine. The drama is at an acceptable minimum. The comedy likewise is pretty sparse. It is the very definition of Slice of Life. But the romantic intensity will make you wish it was more than just a one hour OVA.
I'm going to buy the manga right now in the hope of prolonging this feel good peaceful happiness!

Im rating this perfect 10 because im gay, lonely, and jealous of them 'kami-sama when is it my turn'. THE WHOLE MOVIE IS PURE WHOLESOME WITH ENOUGH OF SMOOCHIE SCENES OFC 😳 I was halfway the movie and i thought to myself that its too good to be true of a gl anime without angst 🙂🙂. I literally prepared myself for a bigass angst that may happen but there is NONE! Its too pure 😭 I wish I could have that kind of relationship with my previous lovers tho 😔 but I'll be looking forward to have a relationship where we could both grow and communicate to avoid miscommunication and fix problems. This is a great representation and I give this a TEN! Its a rare gem 💎 this has now became my comfort anime and i'll rewatch again and again!

Objectively, this OVA sucks. There is a whole 7 years of content that needed to be adapted into 1 hour, and well it just didn't happen. I won't say I've read any of the web comic because I don't really plan on doing that. The story sucks ass it's basically Horimiya but worse. The art is pretty, but the OST actually fucking sucks. You can tell the budget on this was very small. There's a lot of dead space and a surprisingly little amount of voice lines. The characters are boring as fuck, it's literally Horimiya again but I still found myself enjoying this. When it comes to love in a medium, it's very easy to get sucked into it. Especially when it comes at such a relatable time in life. This is a 4 at best. But I found myself in the chaos of it all again. The clarity struck me and now I'm ba…

Not a good solo movie.
It's pretty, and sweet, and some nice character interactions, though little character development. Will be much better if it gets continued, but as is I would only recommend if you're willing to get into the manga afterwards.
At first I thought it was the *end* of a manga storyline, as the relationship launches very quickly. Knowing this is the start of the story improved my opinion a lot, as both main characters are fairly 'basic' in design and their relationship lacked depth. Will think about reading the manga now, and perhaps update the review after.
Overall, pretty but mostly empty, maybe a good start.

While the storyline itself is one I've seen many times before, it was refreshing and so lovely to see a wlw couple. As a queer woman, this anime really warmed my heart. It was sweet and wholesome, the characters and relationship felt very real. I related a lot to the fears and anxieties Yamada had and the struggles of navigating a lesbian relationship.
The awe and love shared between first loves felt raw and represented. The transition from high school to university and the changes and fear that occur hit close to home for me, especially since I went to a university away from home, just like Kase. I especially liked that homophobia didn't appear in this anime. It becomes exhausting when every queer piece of media features it.
It was truly amazing…

I don't write reviews for anime, but I felt obligated to write for this one. And that's because of how unique this anime is for it high score.
First of all, it's not a story about great romance facing great hardship. If you expected that then turn away. There aren't any big dramas in it, nor is there big events that the couple must face in their life.
It's ordinary story about ordinary love between two people. Their only hardship come from ordinary sources. Being to shy and insecure. Being too dense to see some things. To be in love for the first time. To want other for yourself alone. Wanting only the best thing for other, but being too afraid to lose the one you love.
Not every story needs to be big. Not every love story have to face a grand hardship. Sometimes the most beautiful stor…

I couldn't finish it, honestly. I like yuri, but honestly this was mind-numbingly boring. It has nothing special going for it except for good art.
I definitely wouldn't say it's realistic. It's pure fluff, about a couple in a honeymoon relationship. It's very bland. And it's kinda creepy to stick your head into your new girlfriend's sheets to sniff 'em on the first date lol.
This has been done to death, and its execution kinda pales to stuff like... Their Story, for instance. (manhua) Very very bland, and not even cute enough to make up for it. :(
It's too bad, I think I set my expectations too high because of how high quality YagaKimi ended up.

Kase-san and Morning Glories is the type of anime I wish had a longer series because there's so many cute and fun interactions between our two main characters. But we'll settle with an OVA.
Story: Kase-san and Morning Glories is a one hour long OVA that's centres around two high schoolers, Yamada and Kase. The basic setting is that they both just finished middle school together and started dating, just before high school started. Unlike many other romance (or shoujo ai) anime where we watch the wind up, up until our two characters start dating, our story starts off with them already dating. The plot isn't anything super special on paper, but it's far from poor. We get to watch all the complications that come with dating while in the middle of high school - between being part of a team, sc…

(This review is completely Spoiler-Free, if you haven't watched the OVA you read this review.)
When I watched Kase-San and Morning Glories, I was surprised at how good it was. However, if you've noticed the 58 minute runtime, you can assume that the pacing won't be that good. And you would be correct, the OVA feels like a bunch of anime scenes that are loosely connected, but those scenes are very fun to watch, so I didn't care that much. The animations looked stunning. The characters were likeable, I enjoyed watching Yamada's and Kase's relationship unfold. I was rooting for the characters, even Mikawa who isn't really plot relevant besides being Yamada's best friend. The ending hooked me, it made me worry for the main characters and the situation they were in. That's how likeable the cha…

Even tho normally I am not a fan of romance genre in anime. This is the most heart warming movie I have ever seen in my life. Finally no over sexualization of lesbian couples and just a heart felt story of 2 high school girls facing normal daily life couple problems. I understand some reviews about characters being generic or shallow but I would like to remind them that this is just adaptation of only few parts of the actual manga. So it is only being 1 hour movie lacks major parts of it understandably. I still think the animation and music theme covered those holes with beyond amazing work. This is hopefully will be first but not last step to more beautiful, simple but breathtaking and not coated with fan service or fetishization of Yuri anime's. I will deff rewatch it more than five times…

When I finally read the manga, I fell in love and just had to watch the OVA as well. Despite the mixed reviews I saw from other people, I decided to set aside my worries and just watch the anime anyways.
First of all, I want to point out that this is just an OVA. It isn't the entire manga turned into an anime. Although some parts of the story seem rushed, that is likely because this only shows very specific scenes instead of the entire story.
The art style is adorable and the animation is fluid. Many scenes are beautifully drawn. All of the music and sound effects were relevant to the scene they're in as well. This quickly became one of my comfort animes, something I watch when I feel down.
But there was always one thing that bothered me and continues to bother me whenever I think of t…
