Its very well done. The animation is clean, the characters are unique, the story moves around but its gundam so its the typical space politics. I've seen a couple of the gundam series now and this is by far the best one. Its aimed at more of a mature audience so kids will probably get lost in the high level thinking/plot/politics. I dont know if I would have liked this when I was younger because I would not of had the education and world view to understand some of the finer points. I think the story is a unique take on the series as a whole and I am sad to say I just found this in the year of 2025. This and Gundam Witch from Mercury are probably my top modern picks for mech anime.

What do you fight for? Iron-Blooded Orphans handles very well the human failure to achieve what one sets out to fight for. Our plans don’t necessarily unfold the way we wish, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t walk that path and aim for the end. The development of our lives also depends on how much you’re willing to risk for your goals. If you’re going to fight for something, at least have the courage to die trying. I believe this is one of the principles lived by the orphan members of Tekkadan. The story develops quite well. But for those expecting an epic, with a clear distinction between good and evil, where good ends up triumphant: stay away from this Gundam anime. Here, the line between good and evil is grey. And the ending, while somewhat optimistic, still avoids the common, ideal c…

Whilst IBO has had fantastic animation, the mech designs and plot are horrendous. With too many overarching political subterfuge going on and with no answers being given for all of them. It's even worse with appalling characters and rushed sequences that make the plot fall apart. It had a strong start, but the writer relies on too many of the same plot devices. Repeatedly saying "suffering = good" doesn't make for a good story. The entire story lacks cohesion and without any logical nuance, I just can't support this anime. The story is not unique, we've seen it before and we're seeing it again. If you're into a lot of chaos and little plot relevance, I guess this is the anime for you.

I seriously do not understand how there are reviews of this anime that are negative. It is extremely easy for me to say this was one of, if not, the absolute best anime I have ever seen in my life. The journey Iron-Blooded Orphans takes the viewer on is anxiety-inducing, emotional, stressful, and by the end, satisfying and worth it. I have to admit that the character development isn't as strong in season 2 as it was in season 1, but that's forgivable given that we already know plenty about our main characters. There are some new characters introduced in Season 2, and they definitely see some growth, but it isn't as powerful as it is when we are first introduced to the main characters. Regardless, this season is still perfect because it doesn't rely solely on the character development. Iro…

what a disappointment. from the first season and first half of this 2nd season you might think that the anime will end up in some grand scale something, like maybe similar to code geass, but they are nothing alike. the main characters are small timers, nothing grand about them. it's like the creator had an idea about their characters, it had great unique premises, then they all fall flat because this creator couldn't imagine them improving their personality or goals/choices or just even keep them steady. he simply just couldn't imagine how they could end up in the end. so the anime is full of character flaws. some characters are shown as geniuses yet they make multiple silly mistakes, have multiple changes of personality regressions. in hindsight some of it could be attributed to them b…

This isn't gonna be some narcissistic review full of big words, written by some dweeb sitting alone in his mother's basement needing to feel superior to others, like their opinoin matters to anybody but the brony fan club they obviously belong in. IBO is hands down the best Gundam series I have watched, and I've watched every single one. The style of mobile suits I'll admit i didn't like at first, but they quickly grew on me. The anime tells the story of children that had nothing, who forged their own path to try and find the perfect place their family/organization belonged..to just feel like they were more than mere tools for the adults of their world to use and discard as they saw fit. I shed more tears re-watching this than any anime on my entire list. It will forever be a Gundam anime…

The thing about The second season is that, It is a Win or Nothing. and as we know they choose that way, at the consequences of their lives. it is very heartbreaking to see, but we already know it either ends like that or we just have that casual anime stuffs having it ended like that is like life, things are unexpected. it can go from perfect to worst in a snap of finger. they fight for what they want in life To Be Human, And survive this is one of the most brutal the gundam series have ever got (that i've seen) as we got blunt weapon rather than lasers and stuffs but yeah that may be it you might find this a bit too deep, but if you watch the anime closely. the meaning is deep

I loved the first season of this show. Personally, it was a 9 out of 10. It had a cohesive story with a clear end goal for the colorful cast of characters. It had a great introduction, an entertaining journey in the middle, and a satisfying ending. The 2nd season of this show is such a monumental disappointment and failure it's making me write my first anime review. I personally believe that animation, music, or art they are secondary to characters and story. They're fine here, so I'm not going to talk more about them. Characters and story is what makes me invested in a show so that’s what I want to discuss. Spoilers ahead. Season 2 in comparison feels completely disjointed with so many side plots that ends up going nowhere and everything that happens becomes so completely predictable.…

Season 2 was a lot better, in terms of story and action. There were more types of robots, and the fighting became more explosive and bloody. The stories became more complicated, as each small arch pushed the tension until the inevitable big fight happened. There were more desperation, as the squad of kids grew bigger and became more rogue. The old theme of childhood innocence from previous season is still there, as well as changing the corrupted world and brining freedom. The ending was fitting and reflected the theme well. The biggest problem was the characters. Although the main characters were good, some secondary characters felt unnecessary and poorly-developed. Overall, really enjoyed the series. 8.5/10

Iron-Blooded Orphans, or as the cool kids call it, Code Geass's dyslexic younger brother in space. All jokes aside, I loved this sleigh ride, and if MAL didn't have a backward system of cataloging different seasons as separate shows altogether, I would review the entire series at once to do it justice. Story 9/10: Nothing wrong here, a continuation of the plot of the last season after a time skip, it picks up where things left off without missing a beat. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit of a slow burn at first, but after a few episodes, it really kicks it back into high gear. It raised the stakes and all around is a decent political drama with plenty of spectacular action scenes. No plot holes large enough to be noticeable, nobody does anything quite stupid enough to break your delicate im…

Sadly I did not write a review for the first season. I suppose this review will have to be twice as long in its stead. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is a show that rests within one of the many AU's of the Gundam franchise. I've seen my fair share of UC Gundam to know what I'm working with here. Sunrise really outdid itself with this installment. Everything I liked about season one was amplified and tuned to perfection in season two. I hope I can make it clear why I love this series and hold it dear to my heart and why you should too. Story: Iron-Blooded Orphans is a show about brotherhood first and foremost. I was originally hoping this title would be like the critically acclaimed Code Geass which Sunrise also was behind... I am so glad it turned out to not be. We begin with a…

Quick Thoughts: Season 2 felt like a downgrade in just about every area outside of production quality. Story: It continues some time after Tekkadan successfully escorting Kudelia and co. to the election. They've gained a ton of clout, and Orga decides its not enough; He wants complete dominance over Mars and wants to get there through the "shortest route possible" (foreshadowing that is recalled multiple times in this season). Multiple loosely-related subplots are introduced as well, but they're so half-baked that the end result is a clustered, unfocused story. The pacing was fine until the last several episodes, where they decided it was time to start killing-off as many characters as possible. They also decided to just give certain antagonists an unreasonable amount of plot armor. It m…

I don't think we appreciate just how helpless children are in this world. They are the future, but are often handed a world that is less than what it once was when the last generation got it. The new perspective and ideas they bring are often met with disdain and resistance. The world fights to protect the status quo. In "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" Season 2, the children of Tekkadan learn that lesson the hard way. What follows is an exciting and emotionally gripping 25 episodes of a group that fights to keep what they won in Season 1, but all the time events move faster and stronger than they can possibly imagine or even hope to defend. Resuming not long after Season 1 left off, Orga Itsuka and his band of young mercenaries are now settling into the relative comfort of legi…

SPOILERS The anime overall is good and stands out among the best of the mecha I have seen (albeit not that many I'll admit). It had some flaws here and there but otherwise came out on top. There were some recurring themes such as Kudeilia feeling useless just a few too many times and the same goes for the theme of revenge being the reason for battles. The villians (mainly in season 1) could often very clearly be villains as their design went a bit too far in the sense that it seemed like they were trying to hard. Otherwise I can't think of any big gripes. The anime had a beautiful art style, the audio being anything from the openings to OST's were perfect and set the tone without fail. I can't judge the japanese voice actors but the english ones did a brilliant job at portraying the chara…

As a hardcore Gundam Fan, I have to say this was different yet, very entertaining in it's own right, this is the first gundam anime, that I have ever seen that was comprised of nothing but fuck trophies is interesting, with no prior military training or battle experience, they put together a ragtag team of misfits and random people who had one thing in common, they knew what it's like to grow up "struggling" to survive in extreme poverty and harsh living conditions, they quickly became each others family, and relied on one another through the good times and the bad. I have to say I have never seen such a beautiful Gundam series, and this time line is not like any other one I have ever seen before, I am very much looking forward to watching the second season of this absolutely amazing gunda…

Overview: Contains Spoilers This continuation of Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans was most likely my favorite MSG series. It balances many timelines, characters and enemies within a short frame of 24 episodes - It's hard to believe that 10 episodes earlier, Mikazuki was fighting against the Mobile Armor, ancient tech that purged 1/4 of the human population. Although, the ending where he dies was not what I had in mind it definitely came to a swift but sweet end where the practice of human debris (or modern day slavery) has been abolished and Tekkadan's ideals as well as Gjallahorn and Kudelia's political power compromised to reach Orga Itsuki's world. All the elements of this sequel beats the prequel by far I'll try my best to explain why: Plot: The Sequel continues where the pre…

Is this review 3 years late? Yes. Undoubtedly so, however, this is because this show is so... problematic, that it takes time to really jot down what you think of it without whatever you're talking about turning into a rant. Which this review may or may not turn into further down the line. You have been warned. Gundam is a franchise with a long and textured history, with several iterations, timelines, universes, and so on and so forth. It's a franchise with a lot of variety, which is good as that means its not afraid to experiment or capitalize on ideas presented in other works within the franchise. But that's a double edged sword, as that means there will eventually be flops or series that fail to hit the mark, Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans is one of those stories. Where do I start? Maybe…

I'll keep this sweet and Short this is the first Gundam Anime I have watched that really made me want to stop watching it. Really Season 1 was Really great and all but season 2 really?? the beginning was (nice) I'm being polite here because its a Gundam anime, but to get to the point, 1) the Plot was all over the place, 2) the so called backup they were going to get (Non existent ) and so on. In the end om my gosh the ending don't get me started... G Gundam had a better ending and was more fun to watch than this shit really? Even Gundam Evolved and Recongista had a better story and ending... should i continue? My Personal Opinion is dont watch.

[My 5th Edit because IBO is the best Gundam, and I keep seeing myself coming back for more words] Please, read my review of the first season to understand all I am saying here, and my point of view for Iron-Blooded Orphans (IBO). In summary, it is my favorite Gundam of all time (and favorite anime of all-time), and I am a hard Gundam fan. This is the most emotional and perfectly written Gundam in the franchise for me (and I saw them all). I am not joking when I say that, to this day, IBO still touches my heart just thinking about it. Story: All I said for the first season applies for the second. The character's development is still ever-growing and strong. The plot becomes even more interesting, and now you will have more political intrigue and a nice conspiracy going on that will make yo…

Enjoyable, but there are too many plot holes of bullshitery if you actually look into it. Bit of spoilers (Kinda) My final rating is 3 while my rating for the most part, is pretty high is due to more than just what's allowed to be rated so hear me out. I get that they try to make it a tragic story, but the antagonists' survivability is absolutely pure BS, and their luck seems to be too high. In the beginning, people can see and tell the obvious differences in piloting skill between the characters and then no character development for the antagonists whatsoever ( Majority of them ) 30 episodes later they suddenly have plot armour that just pops out of nowhere and became the victor. What the actual f man, they seem to be throwing handicap and plot hole everywhere for the tragic ending'…
